  1. Happy birthday, Ink!

      Happy birthday! ^_^

  2. A few things to update y’all on.

First of all… I made it into the college I applied for! ^_^ I don’t think I’ll apply to any other colleges, because I really want to go to this place; it’s perfect for what I want to do. (which, in case you didn’t know, I want to be a middle school English teacher. I plan to major in English education and minor in art) The college is here in Iowa, so unfortunately I won’t be moving out west to see more of y’all. But I’ll be plenty happy where I’m at! Plus, a lot of my family lives out West, so I’ll have more than enough opportunities to visit those of you on the flip side. ;)

Second of all… it’s ma birthday!! Heck yeah, I’m seventeen, benches. I had my birthday party last night with friends and it was fantastic, I may or may not have peed my pants laughing so hard. We had cake and pizza and played What Do You Meme, Apples to Apples, BANG!, and Killer Bunnies. Of the four, the latter was the favorite. It was such a blast.

Third - I don’t know how I haven’t mentioned this - I’m reading Fablehaven to my two little sisters and Mistborn to my brother. I’ve read Fablehaven twice all the way through, but that was years ago. Reading it again now is such a joy, I’m picking up on so much more! It’s interesting though, because it is definitely not the kind of book I would enjoy now; WAY more plot than character driven. And yet, it changed my life forever. Y’all, if I hadn’t read Fablehaven, I would never have gotten into Sanderson. And now, I get to pass that gift down to my sisters.

And finally, today is my anniversary with @The Ward's Guard. 365 days ago I was just arriving at his house to spend the day with him, and I had no idea that he would be the love of my life. Now, after that fateful day, it’s been a year since we’ve been boyfriend and girlfriend and I wouldn’t trade him for all the stars in the sky. To my darling dearest, I love you forever. You’re my treasure and we’re all better off for having you here.

  3. So... It's my Shardversary! I've been here for two years already. Huh.

I thought of utilizing the collision of my 999th post with my Shardversary to post an essay about my history with books in general and with Brandon's ones specifically, but I'm still unsure of where to put it. Until I come to a decision on that, I'll post this status update. I planned on doing it anyway.

So, umm, people use those to thank people they interacted with. And I can either copy them, or try to actually be creative for a change, and say something interesting. Like maybe asking some of you why you're still following me, or ramble about a random thing. Like what else I can do here, say.

Let's try both copying the concept and being creative, then!

I first joined here two years ago. It was in the middle of quarantine, I already read probably the whole published Cosmere, and my brother wannted me to stop bothering him with those stuff. I was congratulated by a couple of people, like @Honorless (among others who I'm too scared to tag/will tag later), who appears to go over introductions a lot, and is quite welcoming. Sadly, I didn't interact with him much besides that. Thanks for welcoming me, anyway! I was a little active in the Mistborn portion of the forum after that - I'm no theorizer like @Karger or @Frustration (why am I tagging people... I interacted with the former on a theory or two, and he also welcomed me here, while I didn't see the latter much on theories, actually), but I have a few ideas I like to share. Plus, I have a nice memory, which works best with random small tidbits from books. I also read the RoW preview chapters, and had a thing or two to say in its spoiler board.

By that time, I started commenting on Forum Games, too, apparently (The Person Below Me, to be specific), which got me invited to the 1000000th post celebration thread, and led to me getting involved in the Truthless dispute. Well, semi involved. I stated my opinions loud and clear, whether or not they had any point whatsoever. I could tag Experience here, but I already tagged too many people I hardly interacted with, so...

I did some stuff! Tried to get people to see my magic system, didn't work, tried to learn how to write from @Channelknight Fadran and how not to from Frustration - can't say how much it helped. Anyway, the RightingWrite with Fadran thread was nice, though most of my interaction with him sums up to the RP I was in with him. That one started during Ookla season, and would've been confusing, though I think I recognized some of the players that I knew in their original names, like @Condensation, and probably Fadran. It was @Tesh's own LGFaD RP, and playing it was... Amazing. Thank you for that, Tesh, it was great RPing, worldbuilding and generally discussing with you. It was there I met awesome people like @Knight of Iron, @JesterLavorre, @The Awakened Salad, and more, who I sadly didn't interact with much. I enjoyed turning the world of the RP to a near-apocalypse world with Knight (I mean, we all helped, but I blame Knight for adding the whole cataclysm part. He can't disprove it!), building the Ideal Realm stuff with both him and Jester (and getting on Knight's nerves sometimes, too, with illogical ideas). And Salad and Tesh... They were the Dragons enthusiastics. They helped in building the world, and were extremely excited on everything dragon-related. As anyone should be. At the same time I joined the Socially Awkward Bookworms cult club, and the Vampire one. I enjoyed interacting with people there, and if I don't tag them it's because there are a lot, and I... Don't really remember everyone. Sorry!

Around this time, I think, it was that I started discussing with @Ixthos about religion. It was a great conversation that's still ongoing, in it's own way. It also includes more people now - I'm happy to see a religious discussion thread, I started in PMs due to a fear of... Uncivilized discussion. Which it did not! In that respect (you could say), I enjoyed interacting with @Nathrangking, @Silva and @Kingsdaughter613, three more Jews I got to know here. אני שמח שיצא לי להכיר אתכם! ולהטריל אנשים כאן עם עברית באמצע פיסקה... סליחה שניצלתי אתכם ככה. It was nice to also RP with Kingsdaughter in @Random Bystander's RP! (Welcome back, BTW. I know I welcomed you already but still.) I played there with a handful of other people - like @Goob (who is still amazing, even without it staying in his nickname), @The Unknown Novel (who has another name back then, and I didn't really interact with, but hopefully I'll get to know better in the RP we currently play together) and more! The RP idea was amazing, it's a bit sad that it died though.

Moving on, and I realize I forgot to mention my crew! It was nice while it lasted, claiming that there are nine colors in the rainbow, discussing the Secret Evil Fantasy Book Mafia with @Tacitus@Bearer of all agonies (where is he nowadays, anyway?) And a handful of people I already mentioned. I interact with a small circle of people, apparently. Unsurprising.

I can try and keep following the timeline, but it's already getting to Discord interactions and I can't really keep up; I could maybe go back in time to observe, I'm sure @theTruthshaper will agree that all systems allow that (worse case scenario, I see a slightly alternate universe. The timeline will be similar enough, I'm sure). Sadly, I don't have a time machine, so I'll have to just keep going; mention @AonEne, the mod I never found intimidating and that I find even less so after interacting with her and listening to the Magnus Archives due to her reccomendation; @Ed Venture, who is an amazing and nice person who I mostly interacted with on Discord; @Elf who I interacted with on Discord and still failed to explain why she is following me; @Flying, who I failed to mention earlier but writes great stories that I, sadly, didn't read enough of yet; Tesh again, to mention her pushing everyone to listen to songs from, and watch, the musical Hadestown, for great conversations, for amazing stories and starting the Sharder Writing group, and for being surprisingly social for a Socially Awkward Bookworm; @DramaQueen for musical recommendations (I didn't know that Daddy Long Legs has a musical/or Shelly was a poet...) and for (apparently) welcoming me here; @Emery the Steelrunner, Knight of Iron, the Unknown Novel, Channelknight Fadran, DramaQueen, JesterLavorre, @Isabelle6060, Random Bystander, @NerdyAarakocra, @Eluvianii and maybe someone else I forget with whom I currently RP; and all of you in general, who found a reason to want to visit my profile, for some reason. It's probably because I've tagged you. sorry for that. Also, I may have forgotten some people or didn't find a point to mention them. Sorry for that, if you'll remind me I may add a sentence or two for you.

Well. That was a wall of text. Hopefully it was enough to overshadow my following anouncement: I'm going to go abroad for the first time in my life next week, to France, with the rest of my family. I had... reasons not to want to go before, but I decided to go in the end. So, yay!

Thank you for reading, and have a good afternoon/evening/night/morning/day/whatever portion of the day you're at while reading this!

Yours, loyally (it's a figure of speech, don't take it literally),

Trutharchivist/TA/Arch/Ookla the Questioning (I still own that name! It's not Ookla season only).

      Happy birthday! ^_^

  5. Well it's 9:57 in the evening and I want to go to bed.

    But it's also May 16th.

    Again.

    Somehow.

And, somewhat unfortunately, this takes precedent over sleeping a reasonable amount.

    First and foremost.

AHHHHHHHH WHAT THE ACTUAL FREAKING HECK HOW HAVE I BEEN ON HERE FOR FIVE YEARS????

I've been on here for five years.

I uh... technically joined when I was 12, but we don't talk about that. Or any of my early posts.

A whole hecking lot has changed over those five years, and a lot of it in no small part thanks to this site and the amazing people I've come into contact with. You all got me through a really rough patch (AKA middle school) and then about two years ago I got onto Discord and just got to know some people even better.

    You all are amazing.

    Time to start the list.

@The Awakened Salad SALAD. Thank you for being the other half of STAELSAHD, for putting up with me despite all of my many erm... moments of being a crummy friend, and for forgiving me. Every time I look at the moon I think of you and your 42 elbow-ed arms reaching down to pat me on the head. You're one of my best friends and I don't know what I'd do without you. And I know that I most certainly wouldn't be where I am without you at this point. And thanks, of course, for watching Barbie movies with me in the ungodly hours of the morning. Honestly, those are some of my fondest memories. Dragons!!!

@AonEne Eeeeeeeeeeeeene. I can't even put into words how awesome you are. Like dude. You ROCK. You're one of my closest friends, and the FAB squad just wouldn't be the same without you. I mean, then we'd just be the AB squad, and that'd be weird... But you're just so kind and amazing and funny and I love you so much. Hanging out with you in person is always a joy, and VCs are always an adventure. Thank you so much for coming to the anthology release, and putting up with my weird ramblings about stuff. You're amazing. Avi!!! Also I've been on the Shard longer than you so HAH. :P

@Knight of Iron Koi. I gave you your nickname and I'll be forever proud of that fact. You're such an amazing, kind, considerate, and thoughtful friend. I love talking with you so much, and just... You're amazing. Thanks for the help figuring out Hollow Knight, and for talking about random stuff. You're one of the best people to talk to about Random Stuff. Honestly, you're just a really cool person and I really really value our friendship.

@Ed Venture Vennie! I LOVE YOU. I love talking about musicals with you, and often times the more serious aspects of life and stuff. You're honestly just one of the kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. I can't wait for the day when we'll be able to watch a musical together. It will happen some day, and it'll be so much fun when it does.

@Channelknight Fadran Fadrinooooooo. THANK YOU for going to all those awesome writing things with me. You're so much fun to hang out with at them, and your chaotic energy is infectious. Thanks for yelling at everyone to play Hollow Knight. I suck at it, but it's fun, and I wouldn't be playing it if you didn't talk about it all the time.

@DramaQueen Have I ever told you that you're just a really really cool person? You're such an amazing friend and I just love talking with you. You and Fadran are adorable and I can't wait to be your basement gremlin. We'll go see musicals all the time and drag Fadran to all of them so that he will actually have to listen to them. :P Tell Petri I say hi!

It's not letting me tag people anymore for some reason so I might just have to do that in comments.

@Condensation I love talking to you and hanging out with you and just... you're cool. It was so much fun to hang out with you that night in March. I don't have much that's very specific to say, just I love you and you're such a good friend.

@Vapor VASPIE. You are the bestest bowl. And, once again, hanging out with you that night in March was one of the best nights ever. It was just a blast. I love you so much. Tell Chowder I say hi. :)

@Mist I haven't really talked with you much lately, but you're such a cool person. Meeting was really cool, and I hope we can see each other again before too long.

@Doomstick Shortie. Thanks for coming and visiting me this winter! That was such a fun day and I'm really glad I had that opportunity to hang out with you. You're a huge fricking nerd and just an all-around cool person. DFTBA!

@Hentient ALSO DFTBA. Thank you for being the cameraman at Fadran's birthday party! I really hope I can meet you in person some time soon. (Wait I just realized that you'll be at the same school as one of my IRL friends from where I live.) You're also a super cool person. Tell Toto I say hi! And DFTBA!

@S4S You're one of my oldest friends from here. You've been there since the beginning. And I'm so sorry you were there at the beginning.  You're also a super cool person (is it just me, or am I friends with a lot of really cool people? Maybe I have a knack for finding you all.) and a super talented writer. Talking to you again after two years was amazing. I can't even tell you how cool that was. All I can really say is thank you.

@Firerust You've also been around for quite a while! Thank you for carrying on KotC for so long. You're also a very talented writer, and a very good friend. And, like with S4S, talking to you again after those two years was an incredible experience. Thanks for hanging around. :)

@King Aragorn of Gondor You're also super cool!!! Talking to you is always so much fun and I always tend to stay up later than I mean to when I do.  Thanks for being awesome. Tell Bucky I say hi! He's such a good birb.

This is by no means everyone. I'm missing a ton. However, if I did miss you, this is for you: YOU'RE SO COOL AND SUCH AN AMAZING HUMAN AND THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.

The Shard has honestly been a huge part of my life, and generally for the better. Thank you all for being here with me for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    It's now 10:36.

AND NOW I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH A QUOTE FROM THE ANTHROPOCENE REVIEWED BECAUSE IT'S AMAZING AND EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT.

"I think two of the fundamental facts of being a person are 1. We must go on, and 2. None of us ever walks alone."

Thank you for walking with me.

  6. TIL that my dad tried to teach his childhood dog to swim by throwing it into the pond.
It immediately sank and had to be fished out.
Turns out the dog had yet to be taught a more fundamental lesson, which was to not, over the course of its lifetime to date, consume several pounds of gravel from the driveway.

      Poor dog…

  7. I've been on this wild roller coaster of a fansite for four years and I ain't about to get off anytime soon. Here until we crash and burn, baby. ...Let's not, though.

This time I'm going to save musings for after the Compliments Section. This is so I can put the staff right at the top, as they tend to have limited time, so certain people don't have to ask for a TL;DR anymore. :P I intentionally won't try to mention everyone, or anywhere close actually, but I love every single one of you.

First up: @Chaos, as intimidated as I used to be by you, I now think you're wonderful and kind and I really admire you. I enjoy talking with you even when we're both tired and really should be sleeping. Can't wait to read your book someday.

@Argent, your humor and measuredness make the world a better place to be in. I'm very glad I get to know you.

@LewsTherinTelescope, you're cool and things. Words are hard but talking with you is always Good. You know what I mean.

@Otto Didact, one day I am going to meet and hug you and the world will probably be at peace or something. I need to talk to you more because you're amazing and your Dad Vibes are healing. Also, you have possibly the best hair in staff chat. Don't tell Evgeni. ;)

@Kaymyth, speaking of parent vibes, you are really cool like so cool and also so loving and also like can I have your autograph someday?? Literally, I mean, I'm gonna be buying your books eventually :D

@Paleo, your wizardry is fantastic, but your creations aren't the only thing making you awesome. I appreciate you and your help very much.

@Voidus, you and your care and thoughtfulness have never ceased to be there, and I hope I get to talk to you, read your RP, and hear about your campaigns and kiddos being cute forever.

@firstRainbowRose and @little wilson, meeting you two at the last Dragonsteel Minicon was so fun and you're both so nice! I'm excited to see you both again. Mi'ch, you are incredible and don't forget it. Kendra, sometimes I just think of you and your offers to talk about stuff and it's...steadying. <3

Working with all of you continues to be an honor and a joy, and hanging out with you more so. On to non-staff!

IT'S TIME FOR ME TO TALK ABOUT THE BENES. @The Awakened Salad @Tesh ARE YOU GUYS READY TO BE DELUGED IN LOVE? I hope so because you're my best friends and more important to me than all the world. Specific compliments elude me when everything applies, so...reread our platonic wedding vows, kiss your pet, and know that you are the beaniest FAB Squad ever and I will never, ever forget you and our conversations and hangouts.

You are skilled, you are loved, you are interesting, and I will always listen to you. May dragons, avi.

To the many people I've met in-person at various times over the past year - I absolutely loved it, for the record, and you are as awesome as sour Skittles.

To those I've talked with after absences, I'm overjoyed to speak to you again. Special shoutout to @Ashspren - chatting with you on Discord has been great, Ash!

@Robin Sedai, I don't know you super well yet but you're really kind and I hope your life is going well. I always look forward to singing Hamilton with you :P

    @Wyndlerunner beep. *boops your nose*

@#1 Taln Fan, you are awesome and amazing and funny and don't you ever let yourself forget it!

All of you reading this deserve individual statements, but I'm too tired to do something more elaborate - totally lost track of the days and wasn't writing this one in advance. No way I could keep up the giant lists forever, anyway. You all take care of yourselves, you do deserve it - and I know it's hard sometimes, or most of the time, but it will get better, I promise. No matter what. Keep hanging on.

I haven't been very active on the forums this past year. I mean, I've been on, but only about ~500 posts outside the games is telling. Still, despite that, I've had a grand time both here and on the server. I've graduated, gotten a job, and become a different person in many ways this year. I'm fairly happy with who I am now, which is nice, lol.

I won't apologize for this not being more ornate, I'm too tired. Knowing the lot of you is an adventure, and I never want to give that up.

*toasts you all with a glass of eggnog* Love ya. May this next year be better than this one, and with less hardships for those we love.

  8. Hello hi yes I'm back with another book recommendation.

If you are in the US, you have got to read Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen. (If you're not in the US, it'll just show you how incredibly racist and biased the US history curriculum is in US high schools is! So It could be fun for you guys as well.) :P

    You have to read it.

The author takes the twelve most commonly used US history textbooks in high schools and analyzes them for the things that they leave out or lie about. And then he also talks so much about super interesting things and it just adds so much nuance to what's usually taught in schools and it's just so good.

He also talks a lot about why this is such as issue (racism and whitewashing history are a couple big ones) and why this leads to a lot of people finding history boring.

Stuff like this is why I personally love history. I have had an awesome teacher who was willing to dive deep into things, go beyond the curriculum, challenge common misconceptions, made us question, think critically, and just AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love it so much.

Just, please, take the time to at least look into this book. It's written in a super entertaining way, it's jam-packed with information, and it will honestly make you a better person.

(Oh also, I love the term "whitewashing history." It's so interesting. Cause there's the "whitewashing" where you cover up the "blemishes" or the "imperfections." The things that make (in this case) the US look bad. Then there's also another meaning. "White"washing history. Focusing on history from the white European perspective. Ignoring or invalidating other points of view. (I've had people recommend to me An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States although I haven't read it myself yet, so that might be worth looking into if you guys are interested in this.))

    So yeah.

    PLEASE READ IT.

If you find history boring this might change your opinion.

At the very least it will leave you a better informed citizen.

Lies My Teacher Told Me, James W. Loewen.

(Also my psych teacher (he used to teacher world history as well) said this is one of his all-time favorite books, my AP World History teacher uses this to help teach Columbus, and my AP US History teacher listens to the podcast.)

(A few other history books that I've read and that I've loved are Flyboys by James Bradley, Becoming Evil by James Waller, We Wish To Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families by Philip Gourevitch, and Asperger's Children by Edith Sheffer.)

(Also I'm only about 70 pages into Lies My Teacher Told Me and this is how much I'm already loving it.)

    PLEASE READ IT.

  9. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I'VE DONE IT, I HAVE MY HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

Honestly I'm too happy and relieved that it's over to feel bad that it took me so long.  No more school unless I choose to go to college, and then I have more control over what I take...and a smartphone now :o:lol:

So I'm very happy (though feeling mildly physically unwell, maybe because I didn't eat much today, and very cold, but that's normal. I live to worship the heat vents in our house). How're all of you?

  11. Hi who wants to read a thing I wrote?

    Too bad.

    Spoiler

If you’re here, then that’s your first mistake.
Adventurer, villain, or just a simple farmer; in any case, you came to the wrong place. I recommend that you get out while you still can, before you regret it.
But if you plan on staying, let me explain.
You can call me whatever you want for the time being. Names aren’t among the kinds of things you find here. Here, you find fears, pain, weakness, and shame. Everything you wish you didn’t have hiding out inside your conscience—every negative emotion, every broken heart—will eventually find its way down here.
I’m the one who gives shelter to all of these lost shards and fragments of your soul. Some people call this place purgatory; others hell. I call it home.
You look confused. Why don’t you sit down? I’d offer you a hot cup of tea, but warmth isn’t exactly something you find down here either. Maybe you’ve noticed already. I can still offer you a cold cup, though. If it tastes bitter to you… well, that’s because it is.
Go ahead. Ask as many questions as you like; there isn’t much else to do down here.
How’d you get here? So you don’t know? Not many do, I suppose, but it’d be nice to have someone who does for a change. Well, you could be here for a number of reasons. Plenty of hidden portals and whatnot that could get you here, but I doubt you took one of those. More likely you needed a place to take a breather and found your way here.
Hmm. It does seem like a bad place, doesn’t it? Personally I don’t think so. Gloomy, certainly. Perhaps depressing at times if you stop to think about it. I guess it’s all dependent on how you define ‘bad.’ What does that word mean to you? Is it an absence of good or a thing unto itself? Could you sit down and make a list of all things good and all things bad? That seems rather subjective to me. I doubt you could. In my opinion, a bad thing is something we wish we didn’t have: but that’s just me. It’s up to everyone to figure out what it means on their own.
Why are you down here? Now that’s a good question. Like I said, you needed shelter, so you went and found it. Yeah, maybe this place doesn’t seem like the best place for that, but at the same time it kinda is.
Do you have enough tea? It might take me awhile to explain that.
This place doesn’t have a name. In fact, it’s not even a place in terms of being a somewhere. Let’s say, for the time being, that your soul is ‘here.’ It’s like when someone says you’re in bad place. When you’re going through a hard time, this is the place you’re traveling through. When you’re feeling down, this is the bottom you’ve hit.
So let’s say that you’re not doing well right now. If you’re in the dark, then here’s somewhere you can stay until you adjust. Maybe you’re feeling lost, in which case this is the place you’ve found. Maybe you lost someone else; you’re feeling alone. So you came and found us.
Mhm. You’re not the only one here. Try looking around.
        No, not with your eyes.
There. Do you see them now? All those dark shards are kind of like bits of peoples’ souls. They’ve been torn up and thrown away. Those belong to the ones who hide their regrets; sometimes even from themselves. Eventually they’ll have to come down here and find them again to make themselves complete, but for now they can pretend to be happy with their dark patches hidden away from the rest of the world. Until then, it’s my job to take care of them.
If you look around hard enough, you’ll find people like yourself down here. Some of them have made a terrible decision; others have had terrible decisions made for them. That man over there is struggling with addiction, and that woman—his wife—is at a loss for what to do. That child’s parents have been neglecting him, but he isn’t old enough to tell anyone about it. And that one… well, if you can remember, you know that one. When you have the time and the courage, try to ask them about it.
If you’re afraid, then that’s alright. A lot of the people here are too. If you’re sad, then so are they. The thing is, you’re all here. With your souls broken and thrown away, you all came to the same place. Here, you and everyone else are connected by what brought you to such a dark place. How that works is complex, and I could spend hours explaining how it worked on every level; from the nature of a soul to the chemicals in your brain. But suffice it to say that where most people come from, it’s just called empathy.
Are you starting to get it now? You’re coming close. Why don’t you take a bit more tea?
If you find yourself still looking around, then that’s okay. Everyone comes down here at some point. It can be hard to understand that at first. Realizing that everyone has inner demons that they have to deal with at some point or another—just like you—can be a bit shocking. Some people try to pretend like that’s not the case. You can find pieces of their souls down here, just like everyone else.
A lot of people try to leave as soon as they can, but they almost always leaving a bit of themselves behind. Even if how long you need to spend down here is different from person to person, you have to live out all of it eventually. I can promise you that it isn’t going to be pleasant, but it is necessary.
So while you’re here, try to think about why you’re here. You’re here to rest, to collect yourself, to feel out the terrain before you venture away.
If you need to catch your breath, then here it is.
If you’re feeling broken, then here’s a place to take a break.
If you need to cry, then here’s a place where people won’t watch.
I’m here; I always have been, I always will be. I’m not going anywhere.
Why don’t you take some more tea?
I’m sorry that you have to be here. I really am. But you can feel free to stay as long as you need.

I'm writing it for a smol competition. This is the rough draft. Is it any good?

It’s a very good first draft! The first few sentences differ somewhat in tone from further in, but it’s potential-packed overall and engaging.

  12. I wrote in my Shardiversary post that things had been rather crazy on my end. Now is as good a time as any for me to reveal what is going on. The rather short version of a long story is that I am leaving the United States and moving abroad. The process is an intensive one that has taken me many many months, but now I am nearly at the end of the process. I have a date to leave which is only a couple of weeks away. This has been a long time in coming. It is for this reason that I have spent so little time on the Shard in the past 6+ months. Soon I will be an עולה חדש. It has been a draining experience to say the least. Not much of a story, but it is an explanation for my cryptic statement.

  13. On a lighter note than yesterday my shardivesary has arrived!! In the past year things have gotten pretty crazy on my end for reasons that will hopefully soon be revealed. As a result my time on the shard has been less in the past than in previous years. Life happens, but I'm still here and try to keep things interesting. All of my fellow sharders keep things interesting and thank you for a great year!! Here is to another awesome one!!

  14. So, my 17th birthday is coming up, but I'll be at girls' camp starting tomorrow going over my actual birthday, so I'm changing my name and status now! My school's spring musical is Mamma Mia, so I have all the songs stuck in my head, and I'm Tanya, one of the Dynamos, so I get to actually sing Dancing Queen. As such, I thought it only appropriate that I change my name to that, especially since it's a pretty minor change to my initial name. No, I am not a dancer. But I am young and sweet (kinda), and I'm soon to be only 17!

  15. okay, so it was a year. Huh. I have to say that this definitely wasn't an easy year for me. You guys helped me a lot tho, I love y'all. Sharder Liar community is awesome and I am so so so glad I joined.
All of you are great friends. Shard also improved my English and made me a lot less anxious in Person, which is amazing.
    so.... people:

VAPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR you simply have to be the first one. I'm sorry for difficulties. I am so sad that you can't be around more. You are an amazing person and I love you. You are worth of happiness and one of the most beautiful people both inside and out. I'm just so sad we can't really talk like ever :(

FADRAN I'm very happy to say that you're my best friend! You are sooooooooooo cool, fun, helpful and nice!

@AonEne (I will mention you, so you can see it) if not your friendliness I wouldn't be here. Both you and Salad are supper funny and I really enjoy your presence.

Fritz and Truthie, both of you have no idea how much you helped me. Fritz you are NOT useless. Not at all.

Dark, I love how you greet me everyday. I hope you'll feel generally better soon.

HEEEEEEEEEEN I love talking to you and sometimes doing akhschdbidc in DMs  (aslo I loev yuor typoes :P )

Vennie, (uhh, I don't know your name on the shard so I'll just summon you through SL) thanks for all the hugs you gave me!

Jester, I am so excited for the DnD! Thank you for taking your time to explain all the rules to me, since I don't understand that much

Goaty and Stick, both of you are great and I really enjoy chatting with you

Lessie, I also enjoy long conversationss with you because those, however rarely, happen

Mist, your responsibility is just- wow. I don't think there is a more adultish person who isn't yet an adult. You're great!

rev, you're the best artist here, I love your work! You're also a nice person in general (well and maybe demonic sometimes too)

Star and Xino, I am not very close with neither of you, but you two seem really cool! I'm glad you have each other!

Queen, idk what to say really but I also love chatting with you! And you are beautiful in both female and male form :P

Salad, I also really liked our RP, it was super fun to text with you then!

okay, so that's the end I guess. I know there is much more of you and if I didn't mention you I'm sorry! I am writing this while being at school, so I don't really have time. I'm just glad that all of you are here. As I said you all made my life better. Love yall ^_^:)

  16. I am currently sitting by myself at a tiny desk-sized table in an airplane-hangar-sized cafeteria. There are roughly a hundred tables total in this place, each placed six feet apart from all adjacent tables. People here are confined one to a table; during lunch, you're allowed to eat your food and chat with the other inmates at a distance. During free period, you're allowed to work on your homework and have hushed conversations with other people.

    Where am I? Prison? No.

    School.

    *Sighs*

Coronavirus has made my school an internment camp. This is just great.

...is sitting under the table a viable option?

  18. So. Three years, huh.

I've been here from ninth grade, from age fifteen. And now I'll be graduating soon and I'm eighteen and life is crazy, man. You guys have shaped me in countless ways into the girl I am now, and I really, seriously can't thank you enough for it. The Shard has been everything to me, especially in times of low mental health (so all the time :P). But we'll get sappy at the end. For now, it's statistics recap time! :P

Looking at my previous Shardiversaries, this time last year I had 54 followers. That number...doubled. 112 of you are now following me. That's insane to think about for someone who's never really used social media, and I've gotta say thank you ahead of schedule. I've also won almost 100 days and am the Stormfather at 6,600+ rep - placing me in the top ten Sharders on the reputation leaderboard, above Brandon Sanderson and Peter Ahlstrom themselves.

Uhh, what are other dumb number accomplishments that don't really mean anything but monkey brain is stupidly happy about them anyway...? My profile's got over fifty thousand views, that's cool. I've posted 8,000+ times not counting forum games. I'm in nearly four hundred PMs with you awesome people! I started and joined Yet More RPs Oh Gosh Will She Ever Stop and freaked out about Rhythm of War with everyone.

Oh, and I got spiked into the mod team. That was a thing that happened. I'm perpetually joyous yet panicking about the fact that I get to help make the Shard, well, the Shard. It's an honor that I hope I've done well with so far. I love you people so much, and getting to help make this a place where others can find friends too? Storms, it's crazy.

As always, I'll try to mention as many of you as I possibly can, but please don't feel bad if I don't - to shamelessly reuse my explanation from last year: I can’t list all of you because I will literally run out of original compliments, and it’ll end up as something like “you’re cool! And you can write! I like what you write and how you talk!” for everyone and that’s not very nice of me, so to everyone I didn’t mention - that does not mean I don’t enjoy talking with you, laugh when I read your RP, or overanalyze your member titles. It just means I’m running out of ways to say those things without saying the same thing to all of you and feeling guilty about it.

We'll start the lovefest off with Truth, of course. TRUTHIE. You're adorable and cool and you send me funny things and it's actually hard to think of specific moments because there's just a vague blob labeled 'love girlfriend' in the brain. I don't know what to say. I love you. ;):):D:rolleyes:B) (@theTruthshaper)

Let's quickly go over people I gushed about last time next. @Sorana is still fantastic and I love everything you've sent me (that bookmark!!!) and Max is freaking adorable! @MetaTerminal continues to help me out of mental health doom and is just great to talk to, thanks as always for that. @Doomstick hasn't stopped being fun and awesome and having a million inside jokes, and also he makes THE BEST CHOCOLATES THAT HAVE EVER BEEN. @Wyndlerunner is, as always, a presence of light in the world. @The Awakened Salad will literally always be #relatable and amazing. I've chatted a little more with @Jaywalk since last year and he's still a great guy.

@xinoehp512 - I actually got to know you better over the course of this year and I'm very glad I did; tired Xino is great and your simple platformer is oddly addicting. Also thanks for being cool in JAM. Star, you're also someone who I've talked with more, and same goes - you're a fun person! Thanks for the incredible Deteca and Marie art  and for your song recs hehe I love Au/Ra now. (@Shard of Thought) @Butt Ad Venture, too; you're a really cool fanfiction writer, and very sweet.

Another congrats on Clara to @ZincAboutIt. And it's been nice to get to know you more, Lessie!! (@Truthless of Shinovar)

Oh boy, now we get into new names. *rubs hands together* Aright, here we go.

The Sharder Lair is most definitely a group I treasure, and will probably remember for the rest of my life. You guys are so fun to hang out with and so loving when someone feels down. Watching movies, playing games, just hanging out together, it's all so great. Thanks for that.

@Mist! I know everyone jokes about you being the adult of our little group but like...seriously you're so responsible. I'm a little happy that you don't have to practically run the server on your own anymore. You're so kind and smart and thoughtful and A Good Human.

Hen, you're fun and funny and nice, and you're also like the first person I ever met who liked the Host without me introducing it to them so that's a point in your favor :P (@Hentient)

Fritz, your perspective is...idk how to word this. I like the way your thoughts interlock; they're tasty. Thank Truth and Salad! You're also a Good Human, making Mittens very adorable. (@FriarFritz)

Rev, your art is almost as incredible as your awesomeness. All the praise and hugs. (@revelryintheart)

Goatyyyy I have no idea why I latched onto your ie name over your regular one but it happened...anyway, Two Sides of the Same Coin has been fun to GM with you. I'm so glad you're happy. (@Chasmgoat)

Many hugs to Dark and Vapor. I love you both, you're wonderful, interesting, sweet, pretty girls who deserve love. You can't argue with me, it's my Shardiversary. Same goes for Emi - also :o your art and Vapor's is so cool! (@Darkfinder, @Vapor, @Emi) I hope you're okay, Wind, safe and happy. We're here for you. (@Ookla the Hemalurgic Pinto

@Teshhhh! I'm so glad to be talking with you again; you're just as awesome as I remembered from the olden days of 2018. From being TUBA buds to now, I have always enjoyed talking with you. And @DramaQueen ace priiiide ;)

Feather and Nymyyrriq, I haven't spoken with you much lately but I don't think I mentioned you in my last Shardiversary update and you're both really nice and cool. (@SingingMosaic) (I hope your screenreader has a fast-forward function if you don't want to read this whole wall of text...sorry, if not...)

Oh no I've reached the 'running out of unique words' part @Channelknight Fadran! You are scintillating and one day I want a signed copy of your series! :D @Matrim's Dice! It was nice modding with you and I hope your life is going well! @Ghanderflaffle! You have cute animals and you're fun on the Shard! @Condensation, ayyy someone else who actually liked Twilight, lol. @Rosharan A.C.! You...have a nice face! And are cool! And okay I think I need to start using broader strokes, focusing on individuals can only take you so far lol.

All the frens on the Just Around Messing SMP are way cool! That was an adventure, @AmazingGoob. @Spock is still and will always be Best Shard Dad (I know you're not that old but you give off dad vibes ngl). Thanks for rescuing me multiple times, everyone @Knight of Iron, and for Bean! And thanks for making the server, @Scarletfox. Sorry for rotating your books.

Thank you to AAAG for being there. You know who you are.

@Kingsdaughter613, @mathiau, @Random Bystander, @Omi the Counselor, @Kings_way, and@The Unknown Order, RPing with you on Scadrial has been a blast.

Fish, Kindness, Flying, Twig, Taken, Jester, probably a thousand people I'm forgetting, I don't know you that well yet but you all seem like cool folks. Keep doing you.

Being a moderator has carried a lot of anxiety with it - fearing that I'm too young or weird or random to fit into the friend group, just not being as experienced with dealing with things. But you've tried to include me and have reassured me when I'm being dumb. I really appreciate you guys for that and for just being such fantastic people in general; it's not only an honor working with you all but a delight.

Extra  to Grey, Jess, and Feather for answering my stupid questions and being Cool Peeps. And extra apologies ha I'll never stop apologizing to Chaos for anything I'm forgetting. Pickles are delicious though :P

You guys are all...a lot. I don't have many close friends where I live, so y'all are basically my social circle, and that means you're a sizable chunk of my life. Last time I went all cheesy and said "I don’t love you to death. I love you to life, because that’s what your love did for me." And that's still true! But I don't think it encapsulates what the lot of you mean to me. I've tried to think of fancy ways to say this, and nothing is really better than simply saying it.

    You're my home.

*nods and raises a glass of water with lemon juice in it* To another year, homies.

right that sounded terrible I'm never calling you that again ugh

  19. Dunno if I'll be on for my midnight, so HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone who's living in tomorrow, and Happy Eve to those of us who aren't!

Alive! Junior year is a...joy, but winter break is a wondrous thing! Lots and lots of time available to ponder the questions of life’s meaning or, rather, procrastinate doing anything productive.

      How are you?
