Brandon and Book News

In collaboration with Dragonsteel, Dynamite Entertainment has begun an IndieGoGo campaign to fund and pre-order the new omnibus version of the White Sand graphic novels. In an earlier announcement, Nova had indicated that the English omnibus release would be in late April, but it turns out that was incorrect. Dynamite's announcement includes the information that the omnibus will arrive for backers in June/July, with a mass market release in November. This project has been in the works for quite some time, with Isaac Stewart and Dan Dos Santos contributing. In addition to some continuity fixes, it also includes an all-new prologue drawn by Nabetse Zitro and an Ars Arcanum.

Nova, Brandon's Spanish publisher, has announced that the White Sand omnibus edition will be released in Spanish on May 5th, and will release a week earlier in the US (so around April 28th). They also revealed a brand-new cover by Nabetse Zitro:

Evershore, the third Skyward Flight Novella, comes out tonight, December 28th! Merry Christmas to us! The novella will be out on ebook and audio on all major bookstore platforms such as Amazon and Google Play and more. If you want a physical edition, all three Skyward Flight novellas will be in print on April 5th, 2022.

Rather short update this week: Defiant is at 66%, Alcatraz 6 will likely come out late summer 2022, Reddit thread for the spoiler stream is up, and Brandon started a poll about whether he should open a Patreon.

Been a while, but it's finally time for another news roundup! A new cover for the first Alcatraz book has been revealed, the timing for the spoiler stream has been released, and a whole bunch of smaller projects have been announced!

It has been a long wait for The Lost Metal, the fourth and final book in the Wax & Wayne Era 2 Mistborn series, but the end of that wait has a finish line at last! According to a new Tor.com article, The Lost Metal will be published on November 15, 2022. The article also gave us a juicy book blurb that should help tide us over for a time! Come check it out!

I like Cytonic, the third Skyward novel, but didn't love it. The book does what it does well, but I expect Cytonic to be a divisive book, even moreso than Starsight was. In fact, if you didn't like that Starsight didn't have Skyward Flight characters, this book might be even worse for you. 

About last week, we got a cover for Evershore, the third Skyward Flight novella which comes out December 28th, and a few days ago we got a cover for the Skyward Flight collection as well! Lastly, the Skyward Flight novella collection is coming out April 5th, 2022! 

Hi everyone! Cytonic, the third Skyward novel, comes out Tuesday, November 23rd, which is just hours away! You can buy the book on Amazon, Google Play, and more! We are changing when our spoiler channels on our Discord server and spoiler forums open up for the release. Previously, we set our spoiler period to begin at midnight Eastern time. Now we will set things to open at midnight GMT, which will be 4pm PDT and 7pm EDT for you Americans.

We've got some new Mini-Con news this week! Also, Brandon and some employees at Dragonsteel Entertainment will be participating in NaNoWriMo this year, and sharing their word counts multiple times a week, along with encouraging others to do the same.

Not a lot new this week, but there's still some exciting things, such as a sweepstakes to celebrate the launch of Rhythm of War in paperback, and some fun previously-known things occurring such as the release of ReDawn (the second Skyward Flight novella) and a stream this weekend.

Chiller week this time, in comparison to the past few. Brandon's released his schedule for Dragonsteel Mini-Con, as well as details about how to sign up for his class. He also gave us a tease about "movie stuff" he can't give any details on yet.

Weekly Roundup time! Some fun things this week: there are two giveaways associated with Cytonic preorders! Also, we finally got that movie review Brandon mentioned a couple months back.

Brandon has officially revealed the US cover for ReDawn, the second of the Skyward Flight parallel novellas! As with the rest of the Skyward series, the cover is by Charlie Bowater. (UK covers will happen eventually, but no word on when. Apparently the novellas moved pretty quickly and Gollancz, his UK publisher, got involved too late to have the covers out yet… which is about the most Brandon way this could have gone )

Weekly Roundup time! Lots of progress updates on books (Wax & Wayne 4, Skyward 4, and an unspecified book that's probably a Dark One story), and lots of YouTube stuff coming up (two livestreams this month, and an interview with Will Friedle)! Also, The Way of Kings leatherbounds have been added to the store, as have Strength before Weakness T-shirts!

Dragonsteel has announced that the Kings Wild Project will be selling playing cards themed after Mistborn: The Final Empire! They can be pre-ordered from the Kings Wild Project website now through the end of November, and are expected to be printed and shipped spring 2022.

Some more exciting news this week: Sunreach is out, the first revision of Wax and Wayne 4 is finished, Skyward 4 is started, and Mistborn playing cards are up for preorder! Additionally, all orders have been shipped for the tenth anniversary Kickstarter for The Way of Kings. (Summary's a bit late, due to school stuff, but this turned out to be fortuitous, as Brandon's newsletter today contained some announcements of its own to put in.)

The string of exciting news in the updates continues, as this week we got release dates and blurbs for all three Skyward Flight novellas and a cover for Sunreach (the first one), as well as a preview chapter for Cytonic! On a more somber note, Brandon went over and apologized for the bugs with the Mini-Con site (which we covered in our main post on the event). And of course, the progress bar for The Lost Metal ticks ever-upwards, now at 75%.

Jam-packed Weekly Update this time! Brandon has released his schedule for FanX later this week, and the second draft of The Lost Metal has hit 70%. Cool stuff, wonder if there's anything else. I think that was all of it, right? Yeah that should be the las- fine, fine, I'll stop dragging it out. Biggest news (and reason this article is late ) is, we finally have details about the Dragonsteel Mini-Con! You can learn more about that in our article.

Today, Tor Books announced that Dawnshard's full release will happen on November 9th. The announcement has few details that we didn't already know, but I presume that will mean you can find Dawnshard in regular bookstores and that we'll be getting the audiobook release of the book as well, which I know many of you have been waiting for! So that's good news all around.

Hey all, Windrunner here with another news update post. Today we have the exciting announcement that Brandon has finished the first draft of The Lost Metal, the forthcoming final book in Era Two of Mistborn. Brandon's been at it for most of the summer and wrapped up the writing late last night, only a few days behind schedule for his target of the start of August (not that we're complaining).

Hey, in case you missed our news post earlier this week, Brandon has released a new novel!

Lux: A Texas Reckoners Novel is out now, exclusively on Audible. Lux was co-written with Steven Michael Bohls and produced by Mainframe, Brandon’s audiobook company with Max Epstein. The first four chapters are up on Brandon's youtube channel, alongside a short "behind the scenes" video with Brandon, Steven, and Max where they discuss the making of this Audible Original. Steven also appeared as a guest on one of Brandon's livestreamed signing sessions.

There’s been quite a bit of movement in Brandon’s upcoming works recently, so get ready for some new content.

First, Lux: A Texas Reckoners Novel, will be releasing this Thursday, July 22. The story was written with  Steven Michael Bohls and will be an Audible Original on Amazon upon release. Brandon has stated that Lux will eventually be released in print and ebook, but not for at least a year after release. The first four sample chapters have all been released to listen to on Brandon’s YouTube channel.
