Yeah, most of the time I play as characters that have already been killed, and my usernamesake is from a totally different universe. I think immersion often goes a little out the window in these games.

Do the Squires lose their power if their Radiant dies?

I'm also unsure as to what Illumination does. Does it mean PMs are usually close unless the Radiant with Illumination Surge use their Stormlight?

TJ Shade and Elbereth are both correct. There is no vote minimum. Ties are randomly determined.

Squires retain their powers.

PMs are closed by default, but will be opened once a Radiant with Illumination uses a charge. For example:

D1: No PMs

N1: No PMs. Radiant uses Illumination.

D2: PMs open.

N2: PMs open.

D3: No PMs. Radiant uses Illumination.

N3: PMs open.

D4: No PMs

N4: No PMs.
