I mean its been about 5 years since I last signed up for a game so I wouldn't be surprised if we've not played together much, though after a brief profile stalking, does look like you were in my last couple games, qf50, lg73-74, if an AG then AG7. So apparently we have but that was also forever ago . 1
Doc12 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) You guys think I'm the PM person but Burnt was the first one to PM everyone and manipulate them before I even started Don't trust her farther than you would trust me Hiya Burnt, Hael! It's been forever Edited February 16 by Doc12 3
Amanuensis he/him Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 (edited) Unfortunately @edgyswordname had to bow out to do IRL stuff so we are down to 11 now. I am currently wargaming a 12-player variant in case we cannot reach 16. Edited February 16 by Amanuensis 1

CoderDrag0n8 He/They Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) If ya need players, I can try my best. I can only be on at the ends of games, but it being a LG will make it a lot more doable. Sign me up as: Squircle Edited February 16 by CoderDrag0n8
Myst He/Him Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I can also be a full player if you need me to, I’ll just be a bit less active than normal, and probably won’t understand the rules as well
|TJ| he/him Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I'm gonna invite @Aeternum as well in case he wants to play and help us make the numbers.
Hoid Slayer He/Him Posted February 16 Posted February 16 If necessary, I can also play, just know that I won’t be actively solving nor really putting in too much effort - so I won’t be a real asset to my team
Divergent He/Him Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I'll switch to being a player. My character is Gor Elam of the Goron race. 1

Divergent He/Him Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Got around to reading the mechanics and I'm hyped! If I'm understanding it correctly, - We're basically playing 4 games with the same set of people (via the Loops and that alignments are the same throughout) - For village / elims to win, they need to win 3 out of 4 of those games. Village wins a game if they execute 1 elim (Game 1 only) / 2 elims (Game 2 beyond) - You buy your own abilities (Masks) with the currency and this currency is primarily earned via being active. They can only be purchased up until the end of N1 in each game (Loop) 1

Is this deliberately inspired by The Resistance? Because that mechanic -- where we're effectively voting in a small group and testing whether that group contains an elim -- definitely reminds me of it, after a fashion.

|TJ| he/him Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I think if @Mistfallen Soldier and @Hoid Slayer join in, that would be 16.

Because that mechanic -- where we're effectively voting in a small group and testing whether that group contains an elim -- definitely reminds me of it, after a fashion. So conceptually it began when Kas and I were discussing how to make a time loop game work (such as a Tenet game), as I personally love time loop conceits and Majora's Mask was a huge start for that love in my early childhood + the concept of Masks worked great for roles so it felt like a natural fit. I have never played Avalon: The Resistance myself but had done some research into it a long time ago, so as I began developing the mechanics of how it'd work, the parallels became apparent. It very much is a fusion of traditional mafia and The Resistance, as a result, which is part of why I've been eager to run it and see how it plays out 3 hours ago, Mistfallen Soldier said: Thank you for this, I would not have understood what was going on otherwise. It's so weird, the older I get, the harder it feels to communicate my ideas clearly :sob: but yes Divergent simplified it a lot which I am grateful for lol. Y'all don't really need to worry too much about how items add complexity from the jump either since each tier of item is only unlocked via Loop progression (Loop 1 Blue; Loop 2 Blue & Red; Loop 3 Blue, Red, & Purple; Loop 4 Blue, Red, Purple, & Silver). That said, we do indeed have 16! I only received one vote for starting tomorrow night and none for starting tonight. If we start tonight, D1A ends Thursday night, N1A ends Friday night, then y'all have Saturday and Sunday to do the first round of D2A voting. If we start tomorrow night, D1A ends Friday night, N1A ends Saturday night, then y'all have all of Sunday and Monday to do the first round of D2A voting. What does everyone feel they would prefer? I'm okay with starting tonight! I think it's fine since we'll have the first 48 hours as non-voting days where we'll have the time to figure things out 1
