I’ll play! I don’t know Zelda at all so I’m not going to be able to roleplay but I am very familiar with social deduction games so it’ll be fun!

Aman I do not think we are your target audience :P

Honestly that's fine 😛 I might not be able to go ham on the RP / write ups due to my own busy schedule IRL so I will probably be very accommodating with RP / not demand too much on that front :) the bulk of my interest in the game is testing out the time loop rules

Wait a second. I’m kind of going to need to be able to RP to play this one. Does it necessarily have to be a Zelda character, or can i make up something that would work with this?

For the most part I would encourage original characters rather than the ones from the game. This takes place several years after the events and I have ideas for most of what's happened since the Hero of Time left, but that isn't something you'll need to worry about. LoZ is pretty standard fantasy minus things like Elves and Dwarves, and only some have dragons (not MM)

Also like I said before I will be very accommodating on the RP front in general. The level of upkeep required for my larger picture for this particular game isn't really feasible for me in this time frame between a full time management job, full time college, and me solo developing a game on the side. So in general don't worry too much and focus on having fun! We'll figure it out as we go

I may or may not be a bit disadvantaged with less than knowledge about Zelda lore and interaction, but i can try a bit

put me down as Hiro, a… fisherman. Who fishes excessively and hides from social interaction. I’ll do a full description later

If you have time between now and Thursday + don't ever plan on playing the game, there are many a YouTuber playthroughs I would recommend. Might be good to just watch a couple episodes for the vibe

This goes for anyone who is unfamiliar with the setting and would like to be. Otherwise no stress, just read the write ups and follow the lead of players with more familiarity / ask questions whenever

Hmmm. The reason I’m not interested in it is that when i like something, it becomes my entire world, existence, and basically is the worst obsession you have ever seen. So I’m trying to limit myself a bit and enjoy what i am already into, and ginormous IPs like Genshin, Zelda, and Elden Ring are a few things I’ve decided I don’t have to have in my life.

Which game is this based on?

Honestly good call. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is the specific title.

All right, sure; I'll give this a go. I'm a well known lover of weird and experimental rulesets, after all. Heads up, though, I've never actually played Majora's Mask, and I've only played like 5-6 hours of Ocarina of Time.

I will do my best to write up a character before the game begins, but I'm working on homework right now, and can't really spare the time to even fully read the rules or thread up to this point.

Great to have you! For the record I might change the rules so that any 10 posts per cycle (can be RP and Discussion but at least 2 discussion posts to get any reward) earns the max rupees, that way the actual game is always progressing but people can pad out their numbers the way they prefer.

Also I am thinking I can shorten the very first day to a 24 hour cycle since there is no exe and have every Day after be 48. Should make things kick off a bit quicker

Would we prefer me to post the first day Wednesday @22:00 EST or same time Thursday? Either works for me

I... I can't resist a game with weird rules. I'm not reading them right now, I will simply be surprised and overwhelmed when the game starts 😂 I'll be Thistle, a Hylian florist!

Happy to have you o7

Spark notes:

- 4 loops of 3 days and nights; at the end of every Loop, the team that meets the win con receives the Boss Mask. At the start of every Loop, all the dead are resurrected

- No flips, which means you need to figure out who is good and evil based on who died during the loops when the village got the Mask

- Items are earned by activity. Every Loop introduces a new tier of 4 items due to the growing player economy

I think that's the main details without getting into Mask specifics

The weird rules are why I’m only pinch hitting, otherwise I’d join (no offense Amanuensis, I just can’t be bothered to learn the rules, they are kinda weird, and that’s a crucial part of how I play, plus I’ve never played Zelda)

Hiro, a reclusive fisherman

A slightly tall youth that never seems to take up much space due to a slim frame. His hair is dark  but not quite black, his face has never tanned for some reason and is often dried from the salt and sun. He keeps to himself, but is quite nice when you get to know him. The smell of salt follow him, but never fish. He spends his free time on the roof of his home out looking the sea, playing the flute and waiting for his sister to come home, but she never does. Lingers at the fringe of conversation until he knows enough to try and say something without making a fool of himself, enjoys sweets slightly too much, and despises bloodshed. He doesn’t know it yet, but he will be determined to stop anyone from losing someone close to them this carnival.

Coliver was the only one who saw Marton fall.

The festival was just days away, by Coliver's count, and the pair of Zora were playing up by the waterfall, like they did when they were kids. They'd done it countless times before. They'd been smaller then, and their respective families had warned them to stay away from the water, away from the edge, away. But those warnings were long distant, quieted by joy and reunion and whatever Tormarin had put in the punch bowl.

They weren't fully alone, with some of their generation hanging out and talking by the tree line, and Makazi swimming in a calmer eddy. They all see Coliver shriek, then rushed to see Marton sitting a few dozen feet below, dazed and scratched but miraculously unharmed.

But Coliver saw him hit the ground, heard the crunch, felt her heart collapse with certainty in that horrible moment. Then she saw his body flash and reassemble in a way that was no miracle.

She didn't know what Makazi was talking to. But it wasn't Marton.

~

Signing up as Coliver, a young Zora baker with a strong intuition and sense of judgement. She's running some of the catering for the carnival, excited to meet new people and reunite with some old friends who've scattered across the respective kingdoms after some of the unity of the years faded. One of those friends just took a pretty big tumble!

Nope, nothing weird happening here, just ignore that Next Page button.

AraRaash opened his eyes to a mouthful of blood and a scream echoing in his bones. So. This would be one of those times. He still wasn't entirely sure how or why, but sometimes he got to keep his own new body when he got into a new loop, but usually he instead got express delivery into the freshest nearby corpse. That led to some odd conversations. He'd gotten pretty good at subtly snapping the necks of those determined to exterminate the "evil spirit" reanimating their former friends.

He looked at the fairly young woman looking down at him, scream choked into a stare of horror. AraRaash's tongue turned backwards. Hopefully he wouldn't need to test out that particular skill.

What else... she wasn't human. Close, but a bit too orange and... fishy. So was he, for that matter, though his skin tinged purpler. Then a host of strange figures ran up behind, and another fish-person and a hefty rock-folk started clambering down the small cliffside towards him.

Something about this was familiar, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Was it the webbed fingers? No, something else. Something was missing. A bird?

"Goddess, Marton, are you alright?" the third fish-folk asked, bolting towards him. Which was a good question. AraRaash tended to heal fast, and while that fall was... survivable, it wouldn't be pretty. So AraRaash shoved aside hundreds of years of kandra training in favor of eons of experience, and began internally breaking some bones.

Nothing too debilitating. Splintered fibula, split collarbone, crack in the skullplate where he could feel the wound that likely ended the real Marton's life. Head injuries could be convinient, and let Ara-Raash-Marton let out a decently convincing "uhhhhh" as he assembled his story.

But his eyes were drawn to the other one, the merwoman looking at him still from up above in horror. Not horror at what had happened in the fall. What happened after.

She knew.

What is this place?

We've been somewhere like it. It's hard for me to remember too, AraRaash. Harder than you know. Harder than you could ever imagine, and I know you can imagine worse than this.

Are we close? This isn't home, that much is obvious. But the potential here... it could be a clue to reclaiming what we gave up everything for.

Or it couldn't be. Perhaps we've been here before, out of what we can remember. Or perhaps it's out of my grasp but you know it, and you'll continue to hate me even more. You'll Survive. You don't need me for that anymore, but I wish it could be more.

If nothing else, perhaps you won't be alone in your torment for a few small nights.
