I'm partial to light blue myself. This goes well with Village and Elim. And you can add in purple for any additional but separate neutral factions, and even yellow if absolutely necessary.

If I were to guess, I'd say it's just a mechanic with the removal. Like, when you get voted out, you 'die' as far as numbers are concerned but can still talk in the thread.
