Ok 17th sharders, here's a little something that we'll all probably regret.  

This is a forum game, and like forum games, it'll probably never end.  The rules of this particular game are simple; post and continue posting until everyone but you stops posting.  In other words, post until you get tired and ask a mod to lock so you win (not really please don't).  There are also some restrictions lest we get this locked.  Don't post spammish or offensive things on here, and please by courteous to ones fellow man.

So, this game is fairly simple.

For those of you that don't know how to play, there's list of things that start with 5 HP. On your turn, which is whenever as long as you aren't doing two turns in a row, you hurt one thing for one HP and heal another for one HP, though healing is optional.

10 HP is the maximum, so once something gets to that, it can no longer be healed. When something gets to zero, it is dead and is eliminated from the game. We go until we have one left. Later on in the game, hurting often is moved to two HP, to help end stalemates. 

This round is about major cities and other important locations in Sanderson's works.

If you don't know what a codegolf is, it's essentially a challenge to make a program that does something in the least amount of code (usually counted in, like, bytes or characters). You can use any programming language, and basically.. yeah. Uhh.. I'd say that the poster of the challenge can add additional restrictions or change the rules a bit (such as least amount of lines instead of characters/bytes, or not allowed to use loops or something).

Also... there are languages specially made for codegolfing. I'd say don't use those, unless the challenge poster specifies otherwise (basically, use stuff like Python, JS, whatever). Feel free to ask any questions or clarifications. If you think a rule or something should be changed, let me know (with a valid reason).

Sorry if this is a bad explanation..

Anyway, I guess either after a time has passed either since the challenge was posed or since the last answer, idk. Or community/challenge-poster says so, idk? Sorry.

This might work better as a blog.. and I might do that. I'm just worried about polluting the blog space, unless I do, like, a weekly or few times a week challenge or something and users can pose challenges and stuff. This way, someone can come back a month later with a solution that beats the current one.

Anyway, here's the first challenge:

Allowed languages: any non-codegolf-y ones (ask if needed).
Type: fewest characters.

The text should be for a user-inputted string, and the "box" should also be of a user-inputed width
Your choice on the units. Could be number of characters, pixels, or something else.
Just be sure to specify in code or in your post so it's easier to test
(though in-code would "waste" characters lol).

Idealy, it should be readable (as in, you can make out the output. The code can be a mess lol.)
Not sure if this will be a requirement though...

And so on and so forth. Obviously this example is meant to be straightforward, in actual play you would try to make it funny. For example, when Steve said “Hippopotamus”, John could have been a savage and asked the question “What animal does your mother most resemble?” However, John is not a savage, and thus, he did not. The goal is to be funny and witty and clever.

Questions don’t have to be personal either. You don’t need them to be directed at “you”. You could phrase it as a trivia question, like in Jeopardy, or any other type of question. It just has to make sense with the answer. Of course, after you ask a question, you must write your own answer. 

Answers should be vague, to allow room for the future questioner to interpret it, but they should be more than one word. For example, John could have said “George Clooney as character in movie”, to make things more interesting. Try not to point the Questioner in a certain direction, let them run with it. You should put some thought into your answer however. Don’t just be random. Randomness is rarely funny. That goes for the questioner too.

Ease of Understanding 
 

My Sentence:

Lights glared down from fluorescent tubes, headache throbbing behind my eyes.

I have decided that it is time to find the strongest character in all of literature. Well, not strongest strongest, because some just outright break physics, but all the others.

This is not going to be one tournament, but two happening simultaneously: a spoiler-free tournament and a spoilery one. 

As an example, let's a say there's a match between Vin and Kaladin. Two battles happen between them, one where Vin only has her 'luck' (Soothing) and Kaladin is just really good with a spear, because that's how they were intorduced.

In the spoilery one, Vin has [HoA]

And Kaladin has [WaT]

Any secret abilities that readers don't know about initially won't be part of the non-spoilery battle.

If a different character wins the spoilery and the non-spoilery ones, then a different character progresses to the next round. As a result, it is very likely that there will be 2 champions.

Characters submitted so far:

Ya'll can submit more characters; don't worry if it's from something I haven't read. Just include what book/series they're from, non-spoilery powers, and spoilery powers in a spoiler box. If a character doesn't gain any powers and no secret ones are revealed, then spoiler it anyway, because the lack of change can spoil stuff. However, they can't be characters that outright break physics or characters that use 'hacks' (like TLR). Resonances are permitted. I'd also like it if no one broke the first law of thermodynamics (energy cannot be created or destroyed). They don't have to be powerful; I have people like Lightsong in here. Though I will say that characters outside of Sci-fi/Fantasy won't really work well here.

The only rules in the battles are that characters lose when you sever your Connection to the Physical Realm. This is so that highly Invested characters can't just commit suicide and chill in the CR until their opponent fades, but also allows for folks to still use things like Elsecalling. Accessing other dimensions, like the Nowhere, is allowed. I'm also going to say that all characters are motivated to fight, otherwise Spensa would probably win .

The battles will be one-on-one, though I'll have to decide the tournament format based on the number of characters. Winners of battles will be determined by a discussion between anyone who wants to contribute for the non-spoilery battle, and anyone wishing to contribute that has read the relevant books/series for the spoilery ones.

This will start when I deem there are enough characters. 

I assume you all know how to play "would you rather", but I'm going to explain anyway. One person asks a question--it can be from the books, about the characters, or about Brandon himself ( though I'm not sure how you'd manage that)--then the next person answers that question and asks their own, and so on. Try to keep possible spoilers to a minimum.

I'll start with an easy enough question: Would you rather be a Lightweaver or a Windrunner?

Basically, you just mistakes or "funny" things you've made/done (see my examples) and see if others have done it or something (idk if this is even a good forum game lol)

So we don't run out (as quickly), you can say stuff from the Real World (the Cosmere), as well as the "real world" ("Earth")

• ...pictured spheres in SA as bigger, then found out they are essentially marbles.
• ...pronounced "Jasnah" as "Jasnah" (jaz-nuh, rather than the "correct" yaz-nuh)
• ...pronounced "Jah Keved" as "Jah Keved" (jah-keved, rather than the "correct" yah-keved). Or even - like me - "jah-kev-ahd"
• ...skipped over the mess that is "Aharietiam"
• Did this:
  • *finishes BrandySandy book*
  • Mmmm... what to read next...
  • *picks up Wheel of Time.*
  • *Reads a few sentences.*
  • *Puts down.*
  • (Repeat for a few other books.)
  • *Picks up and reads Yumi (or other Sanderson book) instead.*

Edit: you can basically just say anything that sounds correct in a "Who else [...]?" sentence

Let’s start off.
This sharder would have three times as many posts as they do if only their participation in a single thread in the forum games and random stuff forum gave them post count. 

Basically how this will work is I write a little excerpt surrounding whichever decision y'all choose. 

I think decisions will be made though polls, but if enough people agree on an alternate idea, I'll write that instead.

Have no clue if people will engage with this but, here we go!

Set up: Each player starts with 50 energy and $2000. Rolling a die to move spaces costs 5 energy. If you have no energy, you lose your next turn but are guaranteed a move after the empty turn.

Goal: Reach the end space in as few turns as possible. You must have positive money to reach the end space. The final space is a money space. If you make it to this space with negative money, you cannot enter the end space. You will roll every turn until you have positive money. Once you have positive money, you may finish.

If there is an event space within another square, you must roll for that event space as well as the square it is inside of.
