Ugh, C1

Fadran

Looks like the best option because I don't really see reason to suspect fifth? It looked like that just kinda came from poking, but ahhh

Edit: ninja'd, guess fifth isn't up for it now?

It was a sorry lot that gathered in the town square that day. Not the same spot as where Mern's body had been found. Thankfully the thing parading as Drestien, the new mayor, was competent enough to avoid gathering the people there. Feden could give him that much credit.

As the town began to gather in for the meeting Drestien had called, Feden focused on watching them.

They were small, though they had grown a lot in the last few years. These were the people Feden should have been in charge of, not Drestien. But alas, things had not played out that way. And with all the talk of the Lord Ruler falling and this latest murder in the town, Feden worried about getting power back from Drestien next election. Perhaps he could stage a coup? Use the current unrest within the townsfolk to get them to overthrow Drestien? Make him the scapegoat for the murder? That could work....

Feden was so entranced in his treasonous thoughts that he had hardly paid attention to the meeting's proceedings. Why had Drestien called this meeting again?

Oh yeah. It wasn't just about calming the people down.

It was about getting them to vote on whom amongst them was the killer.

It wasn't going well.

Everyone kept shouting names and cursing at each other. After several hours of deliberation, most of the accusations settled on Fadran. He was a new face to the town. Had not gotten to know people very much. He kept claiming he was just making his way through the town before finding work elsewhere. But he had stayed just long enough to maybe learn how the town worked. Its security, lack of security in places. The habits of its people. Who would be the best first victim.

It was only a matter of time before mob mentality took over.

The last time Feden had seen this happen was during some riots in Luthadel when he was but a child.

This was no Luthadel riot, but Fadran did not last long amongst that crowd. None of them would confess to making the killing blow that day, but perhaps it didn't matter. Perhaps it was the sum of all of the hits that cut Fadran's temporary stay in Creston short.

Feden walked up to Drestien after the crowd dispersed and the few constables showed up to dispose of Fadran's body.

"Do you think that was the killer?" Feden asked.

"I sure hope it was."

~

Fadran was not the killer.

As night settled upon the town, screams were heard.

Once again, the sounds came from the town center.

Where Mern had been found.

Varloux was the first on the scene. His inn had been specifically placed near the town center to profit off of townspeople spending time there, then wishing to retire nearby.

It was a gruesome scene he came upon. Two bodies scattered throught the town center. Gerald Heloux, a nobleman. Not that he had been very noble, but even someone who shunted all of their noble duties did not deserve a death like this. Xino, a skaa man that proudly boasted about his fancy card he always carried with him. Someone had drawn strange symbols and markings on it. And left a pile of bones, picked clean, nearby?

"By the Lord Ruler," Varloux whispered. "This is a bloody mess. I need to open the inn early. People are going to need to drink after this."

What has happened?

Well, pretty much one of two things. We have the Exe (Fadran) and one elim kill (Bookwyrm/Ash/Xino) as permanent kills. This leaves us with two kills unaccounted for.

possibilities

1. Striker has put a full-time Coinshot in a 14-player game. That’s a bold strategy, Cotton, let’s see how it plays out for him…oh it’s another dead Lurcher. Kangaroo flashbacks are intensifying >> So I think this doesn’t work, because it would also require a MB who pulled Steel C1, and requires a permanent Village kill role in a fairly small game. Discounting for now.

2. A Mistborn (remember Inquisitor can’t draw Steel) pulled Steel C1 and decided to burn some duralumin with it in an attempt to play hero ball. This explains some of the kills (Ash, Bookwyrm, who were both under suspicion) but fails to account for why Ash was killed when he was up for the shrek until right before rollover.

So with that small massacre we are already looking at 2:8 or 3:7 odds. I feel like I want to start looking in <Bip, Araris, Mat> for an Inquisitor. Will throw another vote on Araris for now.

@_Stick_ - Now that the After Mat is posted, I can come out and say it. You yourself observed in LG92 that JNV's differential engagement seems like some amount of tell. And we watched JNV get sussed despite that tell showing up in LG92. So I'm not sure why you don't think it's worth going off here. Not saying I hope for it because in a way, it is a terrible thing to hope for, but I suppose "I can read you later" is a very pragmatic take to why preferring one player in PoE over another.

Bip - why Fadran over Fifth?

Well, because I couldn't see much reasoning on Fifth? The votes on him came from you in a post without any reasoning attached. Also this was during the whole get TKN his flip thing, which I still don't completely understand why you were so against, but w/e.

Fifth suspicion was born from him not voting every suspicion he has, but like, from my perspective, I've never voted that way either. I'm always afraid I'll forget to move a vote, which is also why I rarely poke vote. I can't in good conscience sus fifth for that when I do it myself yknow?

I guess similar arguments could be made for Fadran, but I didn't feel good about a Fifth exe and I didn't feel good about a TKN exe and if I threw a vote on a random CW it would be a useless vote, and tying up this early in the game has always felt weird. So I guess a variety of things.

side note, unrelated to above, am running into irl things, going to keep playing, life is running me over, just wanted to let ppl know if i disappear for a while at a time. Striker is (obviously) aware of the situation

I mean, it does, doesn't it?

I've been debating whether to point to it or not but you know, I try to believe the Elims aren't fools.
