  1. It also makes me wonder why Hoid is a carriage driver. Is he looking to overhear information? Is he waiting for the right person to be in his carriage at the right moment? Could it be Steris he is looking for or waiting for her to have the right moment? Wax often can fly away home and wont need a carriage, so maybe Wit and Steris are having conversations or are going to have important talks in the future? I for one would love it if it were Steris that saves the planet in the end through the forbidden art of contingency planning.
  2. Well the Trellium spike seems to give you autonomy from Harmony's control, so to speak. It is unclear if the spike actually adds anything extra beyond blocking or changing the rules normally put into a magic system (such as the Kandra spike rule).
  3. The choosing people to become immortal does sound a little like Odium. Plus the Set seem to really "hate" Scadrial which reminds me of odium as well. To be fair, we don't know how Autonomy makes Avatars. Perhaps Avatars are people originally. However, the "get what you deserve" is strange. Who would have a grudge? Odium seems to target the shards who broke the semi-promise and decided to dual-shard a world. And then I guess the Ire could have a grudge for what happened in Secret history. Besides that, who would say "get what you deserve?". Did Laras or Ati do something to another shard in the past? Was Trell mistreated by those shards before and now he is taking his revenge?
  4. I guess to me I took Cultivation as loving growth and then Odium as "general or widespread hatred or disgust directed toward someone as a result of their actions". Cultivation would shape "who" Odium hates. Without another aspect to direct Odiums hatred, Odium just hates pretty much everyone. Adding in another shard would tune where that hatred goes. So I almost see Odium+Cultivation as being a radicalized hatred to towards those who do not Cultivate nature, humanity, or personal growth. The two direct enemies of Cultivation would be Ruin and Preservation, so a grudge forming towards Scadrial seems likely. Odium + Cultivation: Conservation? --- Total 90* shift, but it would be cool for Cultivation to flip entirely and begin hating its own intent when Odium+Cultivation merge. Wouldn't it be funny to have the shard of "neglect" and turn the Odium inward.
  5. I have seen that some people think Silver or Aluminum has something to do with Adonalsium.
  6. Sel is also "walkable" from Scadrial, so it makes sense those two cultures might but heads first. As well, maybe the Sel are making another attempt to steal Ruin and/or Preservation. For someone who has only read Scadrial stuff, it would seem Sel has been the most foreshadowed and most likely to come back in some way. My biggest hope is that Marasi meets Shai from the Emeror's Soul and that Shai has figured out a way to make her magic system function somewhat.
  7. I am hoping against hope that Trell is the Dor and the Ire, but I know it probably isnt
  8. Great clarification and fair point. But still unclear if she was able to do anything in the Physical before the storm shifted to the physical. We dont see the many changes in the physical until the storm is finally summoned. But still, I will keep this theory in my mind!
  9. Now that we have so many new shard names, i wonder if Anguish/Sorrow is still possibly a thing or became another shard?
  10. Just wanted to point out that while I agree Prudence is a likely shard, Brandon also has hinted at something like Anguish in a reddit WOB about 2 years ago.
  11. Interesting, I had never thought of this. And there is an example of this occurring in Starlight already with Kaladin and his speer skills "before" meeting Syl. If Kaladin get's to be good at the spear as a child because he will eventually have Syl, then it stands to reason there might be an effect on Mr.T before he takes up a shard.
  12. Sja-Anat thinks to herself at one point and says that she wasn't fully conscious until the Everstom arrived. I think that makes Sja-Anat an unlikely candidate for the Stormfaker. At the same time though, how did she make Glys before the Everstorm if she was only semi-aware?
  13. 1. Presumably the Parshmen had been connected to something before Ba-Ado-Mishram or Odium, so I would try to find out what that entity was (assuming Ba-Ado-Mishram is not an ancient pre-Odium singer god-spren) 2. Then I would see about the Stormfather potentially connecting to them in some way. 3. Maybe introducing the Parshmen to the Listeners would eventually do something if the Parshmen were eventually considered a part of the clan in a Cognitive sense. Probably wouldn't work for all, but you might be able to slowly associate and re-intigrate more and more. 4. Ask the remaining Listeners what their stories say about how they managed to keep their identity or reforge their identity. There is probably some knowledge there. Eshoni's mother probably knows a song with the right information.
  14. I wonder if the Reshi Isle creatures have gem hearts? Those must be .... unique. Perhaps a few of those have been found and cut into perfect gems by master artisans.
  15. Some other possibioites could be that Chana slowly leaked out of the safe over time. If we take that Shallan says she sees a glowing light coming out of the box and we add was happened to Jezrian in his gem with him leaking out, it stands to reason the box simply delayed Chana from heading to Braize. And since no one has returned to Braize in 4500 years, Chana would have had no way of testing this new device before now, so would not know how well it would work. The second option is that someone opened the safe at some point after Shallan left for Karbrandth.
  16. Another possibility for being released from the Oaths Team Rosier really really losing in book 5. It could be anything from the magic system being totally remade by cultivation and Odium all the way to Rosier being completely exploded and the entire idea of oaths goes away entirely.
  17. I don't know, but I got the impression Taln was more insane because of torture than insane because of being a cognitive shadow. I am sure it is both, but Talk seems more ruined than insane. His rambling seems way more trauma-based than cognitive-shadow based. Gibbering in the corner seems a lot different than destroying statues. I wouldn't be surprised if Taln ends up being the most sane spiritually because his experience on Braize was so prolonged.
  18. I know they already met, but I really want to see Shai and Hoid meet again. I feel like we were promised that post- Emperor's Soul, and I really hope we get it.
  19. My headcannon 1. Sigzil gets a dawnshard before the end of Stormlight 5. This likely has something to do with Hoid. Sigzil is semi informed. 2. The dawnshard alters both Sigzil and his Spren's spirit web and this unlocks new powers. Sigzil is stoked. 3. Sigzil "experiments" and this causes some problems. The Dawnshard and spren interact strangely. The dawnshard "talks" more 4. Something happens that makes Sigzil and his spren realize oaths are not the most important thing. Perhaps Odium's plan. 5. Sigzil and his spren agree to do something that is fundamentally against the First Ideal. It is done for a good reason in Sigzil's mind. 6. Sigzil's spren dies willingly. Many humans and singers die as well. Sigzil's Dawnshard does something at this time that is new or unexpected. 7. Sigzil gets a new bond. The bond is not exactly the spren but something else. Perhaps the Dawnshard becomes semi conscious with a spren. 8. Hold explains to Sigzil how to run and why to run. Hold apologizes for not being honest or not training Sigzil enough on Dawnshards. 9. Sigzil runs and learns of his torment over time.
  20. So can we assume Rlain has this ability now too? Maybe the Sja'Anat gang will become too hard to predict. And that likely works just as much on Odium as it would on Cultivation, no?
  21. Killing the stormfather and having either Mishram or Sja-Anat filling that role would be amazing. Mishram makes sense because of connection, but Sja-Anat seems to care about helping and making new spren.
  22. Still so confusing that Honour thought the Dawnshards were lost. What happened there? Seems like 1 and maybe 2 are still around.
  23. On how Hoid got a spren. Hoid grumbles at one point that the Gods of Roshar are a annoyingly strict when it comes to making a bond. I got the impression that with Honour dead and the heralds imsane, there was a lot less oversight this time with Testament than there would have been any other time in history. Basically, anyone who would have said no is gone. And for the first time une millennia, spren are willing to bond.
  24. There is also the weird bit where the Fused do not want to be the ones to knife-kill a Herald. The Fused almost seemed afraid to try and really wanted a human to do it (which I also felt was some kind of foreshadowing)
