Allomantic Pewter and Shardplate
i’m in the details replied to DoctaDajman's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I believe it is stated in WaT that plate has a set strength limit and the users strength does not matter. We see this when the spren captain (I forget his name) dons a set at the end of the book. He is incorporeal in the physical realm but can still use plate properly. Granted these were dead plates? or half alive, so that could be a factor. Regardless I think it makes sense to assume all plates of the same category operate a the same level of strength. I could see radiant plate providing more of a buff due to the investiture there. -
I think Sazed splitting off the Discord part of himself and giving it to an era 3 protagonist is somewhat likely. That or dividing the shards back into preservation and ruin, or two completely new intents.

Other animals with Aviar abilities
i’m in the details replied to Belgarad's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think it’s worth noting that when dusk eats the snake and the paste he gains the Wayfinder ability that is inherent to trappers. Presumably unkeyed dor would have the same effect. That is his invested art not an effect provided by either the snake or the paste. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ability to consume investiture in this manner is limited to trappers and people like Lift. if this is the case, then the pure lake fish are something different, granting anyone different abilities based on the fish. Otherwise Dusk would likely have gained cognitive abilities from the animals he presumably ate on the island. As cool as the idea is that anyone can consume invested animals for their power, I find it more likely that most creatures consumed would likely have the effect of temporarily granting breath like effects, or perhaps fuel for whatever invested art they possess. -
Still implies that there was a large conflict. That woman serving them appears to be an outlier and a secret. So I imagine they don’t have many.

Line from ch. 46 “No aetherbound will serve them. “ Did that group attack one of the aether worlds? Bendjal (probably wrong spelling) or Aditil’s home world? Not a crazy big theorizing point since it’s stated that they are a big empire but I can’t help thinking about how that could make a good flashback or something in

Pretty sure we know that to be roshar or near roshar since the people are described like horneaters

What was Autonomy Doing?!
i’m in the details replied to a Faceless Immortal's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I actually think it makes sense for autonomy to make her move for two reasons: an avatar invested in Scadrial is safe from retribution until Harmony is killed, and if she wants that protection she needs to slip in before discord/prevent discord. So Bav was making her play at the perfect time -
Valid however, those spikes were AUTONOMY god metal and may present extra protection from influence.

Not another Dawnshard Chart (it is)
i’m in the details replied to i’m in the details's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I like that. EXIST creates the spiritual realm. CHANGE creates the physical (matter and energy constantly in a cycle). SOMETHING (maybe THINK or FEEL) Cognitive. CONNECT/UNITY to bind them all together. -
Not another Dawnshard Chart (it is)

I agree that they are clunky. I am less sure about Void, because there is a part of me that thinks Ado's commands are inherently related to Existence. Maybe it is the case that there was a first Command i.e. EXIST. Then Ado is like this is boring, CHANGE. Oh now everything is in chaos so he commands BALANCE. Leaving the last one up to debate. I just don't see how we could have one Command be Change without a balancing command. -
So we all saw that Moash has gem spikes. Two things of note: Spikes were through the eyes & granted enhancments to vision (ish) Not made of metal, proving the theory that other materials can be used for hemalurg With this info in mind I have a couple of questions. The first is whether those spikes were first jammed through a person or spren. My guess would be yes, b/c we know that is a prereq for hemalurgy. The second question I have is whether Ruin or Harmony could now exert some control over moash assuming retribution isn't in direct control. Again my gut says yes. Wild theory: Moash will become a demonic/devilish figure in cosmere mythos. He is the most hated character in canon, he is alive, he has spikes. I have seen theories that what casues marsh to be seen as a death figure across the cosmere is partially Harmony's actions, but also the nature of hemalurgic constructs to be easier to control with invested arts and or by peoples perception of them. Think the heralds madness caused by their religion, but instead Marsh is seen as death. Now Moash is subject to these waves of the masses veiwing him as the right hand of Retribution and his soul is cracked more than ever. Fast foward to era 4 and we have not just Death running around the Cosmere but also the Devil.

I like the idea that the dawnshards are juxtaposed with one another. So Change would be countered by Balance. Order and Chaos. Exist would be countered by Void (destruction).

Hello everyone! Here is my take on the shards are split up by Dawnshard incorporating what we know from WaT. I subscribe to the idea that there is a dicotomy to the Dawnshards. As such I am giving the two unknown ones these names: BALANCE (Change), DESTROY (Exist). I like balance more than Unity because I feel it covers more concepts, and I don't like Destroy. I think the DS represent Order and Chaos, and Existence and the Void. Shards | Dawnshard (Primary) | Dawnshard (Secondary) | Reasoning Preservation | Exist | Exist | God of Stasis, cannot create life without Change (Ruin) Honor | Exist | Balance | God of Bonds, per WaT: doesn't really get humans b/c they change too much. Endowment or Cultivation | Exist | Change | Life aspected changing. Mercy | Exist | Destroy (Void) | The warring aspects could be why Sazed says Mercy is scary/unhinged Ruin | Destroy (Void) | Destroy (Void) | God of entropy. Could be C - D, or D - C, but then who would go here? Odium | Destroy (Void) | Change | Seems to like war, but is human aspected thus change Valor | Destroy (Void) | Balance | War aspected word. But IDK Autonomy | Destroy (Void) | Exist | Likes war. Multiple aspects to prevent true dealth. IDK Whimsy | Change | Change | God of Chaos essentially. Change for the sake of change. Cultivation or Endowment | Change | Exist | Changing something so that it can live. Pruning a tree. Cult could be C - D for the same reason. Invention | Change | Balance | Idk Balance seems sciency. Ambition | Change | Destroy (Void) | Bettering yourself at the cost of others IDK Reason | Balance | Balance | God of Order. Control everything. Could see Dominion here. Virtuosity | Balance | Change | Like the stones in Yumi, structured chaos, art Devotion | Balance | Exist | Living a life of rules and what not. Devotion to an idea? IDK Dominion | Balance | Destroy | Balance through force Let me know what you all think!

In this recent-ish WoB: Brandon Sanderson We needed to come up with a name that is a little bit different than just Dragonsteel [for the convention], and we spent forever arguing. We finally landed on something; it does have Cosmere applications. We're just gonna call it Dragonsteel Nexus. There's no big convention named Nexus in fantasy/science fiction. We realized that, and it's also... (Secret!) It's the name of the perpendicularity at Silverlight; it's the Silverlight Nexus. C2E2 2024 (April 27, 2024) Brandon says that there is a perpendicularity at Silverlight. This implies that Silverlight exists either on or dimensionally adjacent to a planet. Not ground breaking you may say, but I can think of a few details this clears up. Mainly, that Silverlight isn't a wholly cognitive realm civilization. I for one thought that was a possibility. I also thought that it could be located in that cognitive anomaly on the Nathis map, but the city would have to have a perpendicularity that opened to the moon which doesn't seem likely. What are your theories on Silverlight?
