i’m in the details Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 So we all saw that Moash has gem spikes. Two things of note: Spikes were through the eyes & granted enhancments to vision (ish) Not made of metal, proving the theory that other materials can be used for hemalurg With this info in mind I have a couple of questions. The first is whether those spikes were first jammed through a person or spren. My guess would be yes, b/c we know that is a prereq for hemalurgy. The second question I have is whether Ruin or Harmony could now exert some control over moash assuming retribution isn't in direct control. Again my gut says yes. Wild theory: Moash will become a demonic/devilish figure in cosmere mythos. He is the most hated character in canon, he is alive, he has spikes. I have seen theories that what casues marsh to be seen as a death figure across the cosmere is partially Harmony's actions, but also the nature of hemalurgic constructs to be easier to control with invested arts and or by peoples perception of them. Think the heralds madness caused by their religion, but instead Marsh is seen as death. Now Moash is subject to these waves of the masses veiwing him as the right hand of Retribution and his soul is cracked more than ever. Fast foward to era 4 and we have not just Death running around the Cosmere but also the Devil. 2

I don't remember TLM all too well, but wasn't Autonomy making Spikes which couldn't be controlled by Harmony? I don't think that Harmony can control Moash just because he is spiked

Szeth Pancakes he/they Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Broadly, I think we're going to see a lot of the Mistborn Era 2 kinda thing, where the MCs from the last part of the series are mythological figures. It's already happening with Bridge Four (I'd be surprised if Moash hasn't already taken on some of the associations you're talking about) and I think Dalinar is going to get some of that treatment too. Szeth as "the Knight of Truth" is also cool.
a Faceless Immortal he/him Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I don't think this is actually Hemalurgy. Hemalurgy is largely about stealing abilities, and I don't believe we actually know that Moash has stolen sight from someone. I think, rather, that the bind points that Hemalurgy uses are just an innate feature of any entity that has a soul, and the product of having something invested shoved through the bind points where your eyes are is a from of sight relying on investiture. 2

I think it's a sort of middle point between Hemalurgy and Fabrials. It uses some of the basic mechanics of Hemalurgy, but employs the powers and sources of fabrials. I assume each polestone/Spren works in different bind points with different things. A heliodor with a flamespren in the eyes gives you heat vision, while one with windspren might give you the ability to see motion. A ruby in the shoulders, could maybe allow you to absorb kinetic energy? A amethyst could let you project it?
