NOTE: Subject to change due to Power Level talks etc. etc.

And remember, unless specified, I have to assume that all weaknesses are middle-of-the-road. If you are going to make them have a serious impact on them (eg. visions vs constant hallucinations) specify that.

Argh, but Tena is only a Twinborn and an Awakener! And she’s not even going to be using her powers a lot in the next Era!

In addition, due to her childhood she is less restricted by morals, a 'perfect killing machine', and presumably competent with both magic types. Her shortness is offset by her acrobatic ability.

But this Era my standard is for power is an experienced twinborn. By that marker, all those other abilities on top of that (eg. Awakener) make her OP. A-chromium has good offensive potential, and F-steel more so.

She has the potential to use them. There is nothing stopping her from using her powers. Unless I have explicit guarantees the character is non-interventionist, or their weakness prevents them from using their powers, I have to assume that they can and will use their powers.

What more do you want? She’s emotionally unstable, and allergic to pollen. All you need to do is give her a flower to assassinate her!

I don't know the extent of her emotional instability. It could make her into an even better killer, or cripple her and make her unable to function. The pollen allergy has no effect on her ability to use her investiture. For that, I also don't know how serious it is. It could be one easily managed by medicine, or one that kills her instantly.

The ideal weakness is one that lowers her power level to the standard I'm looking for. These are insufficient.

@Ark1002 (regarding Silas)

Because F-duralumin isn't a powerful investiture, I'm fine with them having F-steel and A-cadmium. Combined with 'skillful martial artist, also trained to take out people in less than ten heartbeats', that's about the maximum power level I'd like to accept. All other investiture and abilities, like the arm stuff, are extra. The weaknesses don't impact their ability to use their investiture, or to act competently.

As I mentioned before, if they only had the suit I'd probably let it slide. But it's like having investiture, it increases your speed and strength, and has loads of extra upgrades like the disguise function. The explanation that he can't use his investiture in it doesn't excuse its power. Think about it, fighting someone of equal power level, he could fight until the suit drops, then step out and keep going with his other investiture. It's like having twice as much as everyone else.

Then there's all the equipment eg. awakened cloth. And he's seven feet tall. The little things add up really quickly.

My recommendation is go for either the suit or the investiture. Having both is OP.

*grumbles* Fine, @Ookla the Paragon. She has moral qualms with killing a lot, as she was an Edgedancer. Seriously though. All she wants is to save people.

And she’s going to just be playing a crazy violin the majority of Era 3.

Dang, I had a really good idea for a character a little while ago, but I forgot it.

That's all. Just felt like letting you guys know.

Do you feel like one of the characters I have at the moment is too strong for the next era? I would like to keep a part of them, but I'm not sure which (and it also depends a lot on what will happen next).

The most powerfull is Althea, but she's a non-fighter without a weapon skill and has an easy-to-exploit weakness, so I'm not sure about her.

I havent had time yet to actually create my character, but I am still really fond of a Zinc compounder.  The original planned weakness was that they can't stand direct confrontation.(would justify this when creating the charecter) I.E. they would do literally everything in their power to avoid fights and stuff (basically a remake of Oruden as I literally never used him...)... but thinking about it, this probably isnt enough of a weakness as their powers dont have anything to do with conflict...

interesting. Well, I'll be off from like the 26 till the 3rd. :)

Also assuming we don't decide to change the date because many people will probably not be around then. :P

Sorana... none of your characters are even remotely OP. They were the ones used as an example of perfectly reasonable...

Would a character that can kill literally everything and can never truly die be to powerful?

I’m going to hazard a guess and say that they are fine.

This is my concept for my era 3 character, KanMien (yes, it's another Kandra).

Spoiler

Name: KanMien

Affiliation: DA

Species: Kandra (Genetically modified to be able to grow hair an nails, and repair broken bones (actual rate is lower than with normal humans, and only works for actual bones, so not for true bodies)

Investure: Identity wiping blessings (Allows them to temporarily blank out their identity, both on a spiritual and a cognitive level, but they're not aware of this ability). Feruchemical zinc and Allomantic zinc spikes inherited from KoTiel (since they're inherited they'll have lost a lot of power. Tapping efficiency and burn rates are both halve of that of a normal twinborn. The maximum level of mental speed they can compound will be at a quarter of what a normal twinborn can reach).

Appearance: Their appearance varies, but they tend to be favor feminine appearances. They use a stone true body of about 5'3'' tall, and have long, dark-brown hair. They generally wear a suit that has been modified to be easier to move around with.

Equipment: Wields two handguns they found in an old DA storage room (the guns don't do anything special, they were stored there as outer-cosmere weapons), and tends to carry a large amount of spare magazines in their body.

Fighting style: They use their guns together with their zinc compounding to create something similar to gun kata, where they analyze the stances of their opponents in order to predict the likely paths of their attacks, in order to avoid them, and to increase their accuracy. They also use their zinc to analyze their surroundings and come up with large numbers of strategies, and switch between them.

Weaknesses: They aren't good at hand to hand combat, since their analysis doesn't work as well at these distances, and since they've never received any actual martial arts training. They also can't create good predictions of their enemies strategies, since it isn't something that can be reduced to a physics or statistics problem. Their hemalurgic spikes also allow people with strong enough emotional allomancy to take control of them.

Personality: Tends to switch between two different personalities (not a case of split personality, see it more as multiple behavior sets), depending on the situation. The first is more soft-spoken, and tends to keep to themselves. They're also very curious, and enjoy discovering new things. Their other personality is a lot harsher to other people, and doesn't care much about others, showing little empathy and having no real problem hurting others. The multiple personalities come from the combination of their identity erasure spikes, trying to reconcile their pre-loyalty spike personality with their post-loyalty spike one, and trying to fit in with the other people in the DA.

History: They were originally created by KoTiel after KoTiel got a spiritual bomb implanted in them. KoTiel created them by first making a mistwraith, and then using essence spikes to erase their identity and transferring their memories to it, after which they decided to take the name KanMien, and started to view KoTiel as a parent figure. After KoTiel died because of (insert era 2 end thing here) they managed to get their spikes, and kept them as their inheritance. Not knowing where to go they decided to stay with the DA, although moving away from hemalurgic experiments.

Name: Melody Jan

Epic name: Symphony

Power: Epic (sound manipulation)

Special skills and weapons: Dual hidden blades, throwing knives,

Weakness: Air manipulation or high altitudes

Physical characteristics:
Height: 5”4’

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Light Blue

Age: 28

Family: Parents are dead, not in a relationship.
History/Biography: When she was 12 she was in a plane crash caused by an air manipulation epic. She got her powers soon after and used her new found powers to kill the epic that caused it. People say the noise from the battle could be heard all over the fractured states. She disappeared soon after and found her way too the allyverse.

Personality: She is actually a pretty timid person who doesn’t like confrontation. She has a tendency to stutter and stumble over her words.

Epic Powers: The first effect is the user has an increased awareness to sound waves, this isn’t better hearing, they can sense sound waves. The basic ability is being able to basically turn the volume up and down, the more it’s altered the more concentration is needed. Making something louder is much harder than quieter. Threw training users can teach themselves to funnel sounds and even, through extensive training, catch sounds and redirect them. There is a range around the user that they can manipulate, though this can be increased. This power is also heavily influenced by emotion, strong emotions usually cause big burst of power that the user would not be able to replicate.

Looks interesting, but Epic powers can often be difficult to balance. Can you give more details regarding what her powers can do?

How powerful is this? As in, she can create a total vacuum of sound, as well as deafen everyone with a sonic boom x5?

However, I like this power. It got snazz. :)
