EmulatonStromenkiin he/him Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 The shadows snatch the sandwich from Platypus and dive deep into the depths of the ocean
Immortal Platypus Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 As the sandwich gets soggy, it floats to the surface, dragging the shadows with it. Platypus takes it from them and leaves them to sink.
Edema Rue she/her Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 The Caterpillar has risen from the grave. Furious that it can never be with the Sentient Mushroom, (sentient mushrooms and caterpillars have different after lives, of course) it has come for the sandwich. It torpedoes past Platypus, stealing the sandwich as it goes.
Immortal Platypus Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Platypus points out that he can revive the mushroom for the price of the sandwich. When the Caterpillar agrees, Platypus brings the mushroom back to life and walks off happy, having united a love and regained his sandwich.
Edema Rue she/her Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 But The Caterpillar soon realized that the Sentient Mushroom just wasn't the same. In the process of reviving it, Platypus had made it into a Sapient Mushroom! More furious than ever before, The Caterpillar takes the sandwich back.
ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Sequence presented an offer to the Caterpillar. One Sentient-inator for the Sandwich.
Immortal Platypus Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) Platypus calmly explained that there was a temporary change, and that the mushroom would be back to normal soon. Leaving the Caterpillar satisfied and taking the sandwich back, he also told it that it was time for the lunch with Nerdy! @Aes Sedai @NerdyAarakocra Edited March 6, 2023 by Being of Cacophony
Edema Rue she/her Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 The Caterpillar was not satisfied. In fact, it was so not satisfied that for the first time ever, it skipped lunch with Nerdy. As a sad side effect, it grew quite depressed and showed up to the lunch anyway.
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) This was probably a good thing, because that new restaurant in town was supposed to be really good. "Hey guys! Ready to go to the restaurant?" I say, slipping into first person present tense. Edited March 5, 2023 by NerdyAarakocra
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 Bookwyrm will switch to the third person future tense and ask: "What does the restaurant serve?"
Edema Rue she/her Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 You switched into second person past tense and walked into the restaurant, where you asked a waiter for a table.
Immortal Platypus Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 Bringing myself back into first person, I come to where the waiter is standing. "Hey Nerdy, hey Caterpillar, hey Bookwyrm. Wait, Bookwyrm?? Are you here for the lunch? You can come if you want I guess. Might be fun. Is everyone ready to try out the restaurant?"
Edema Rue she/her Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) Going back to 3rd person present, The Caterpillar sighs in assent. We met Sentient Mushroom at lunch. No Mushroom now. Only lunch. We will eat lunch, It conveys. Edited March 5, 2023 by Aes Sedai
Immortal Platypus Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 "Ok." I say, keeping myself in first person.
ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 “Hey wait a second, I’m the waiter!” I say to Nameless. “I had an elaborate plan to steal the Sandwich while they weren’t paying attention!”
NameIess Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 I sniff disapprovingly. “No real waiter would ever stoop to something so low as stealing from customers. Now, get out of here you sandwich-thieving ruffian, before I call the police on you.” I wink at Sequence as she leaves, satisfied that our plan is going swimmingly. “Now, what did you want to drink?” 1
Immortal Platypus Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 Keeping my sandwich carefully under control, I order a flame-baked pizza, XL.
Edema Rue she/her Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 The Caterpillar actually had the sandwich. Too sad for grasshopper souls, it orders a small glass of snail slime and a large salad.

Now it couldn't be eaten until he unlocked it.
ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 I walk out of the restaurant, looking defeated. As soon as I'm out of the restaurant, I immediately run around to the back and enter the kitchen. I put on a face mask, a pair of glasses, and a chef's outfit, then begin taking food orders.
Wittles he/him Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 (edited) I also sneak inside and pick the lock and replace the sandwich with a cardboard cutout Edited March 6, 2023 by Witless of Shinovar

Then I attach a new, unpickable lock.
