  1. And so the time has come.

In the past I imagined making a huge post where I listed all of the important people and said something nice, but...let's be honest, there are a lot of you. Which is awesome. I'm so glad I've had so many people here be receptive and welcoming to me and my weird ideas. I'm so glad that this has been a community where I can express a part of me I didn't really know I had before I came here. And I'm glad it's still going strong today, even if a lot of the people who were with me at the start have left.

It's kind of hard to figure out what to say at the end of all this. It's strange, because I know this isn't the end for me. I have a whole lot of awesome stuff in front of me. I've received so many witnesses that this is what I'm supposed to do, and that I'll find joy and happiness in my service. So I'm not sad about that. But...it's still an ending. An ending, even though it may be a temporary one, to little relationships I've had for a long time now. And that's kind of sad.

But I'd rather focus on the happiness that came from those relationships, rather than the gap there'll be going forward. Journey before Destination, right? In the end it's more important what we had, rather than the fact that it might have to end. (And I'm lucky in that I have a lot more journey ahead of me.)

So...thank you, everyone, for everything you've done. If you're dissapointed that I didn't ping you specifically and say something specific, if you think you know what Bookwyrm would have said about you, then know that you deserve that. Each of you deserve to be satisfied with how you made my life a little better. Remember that.

Will I come back? I think I'll try to. I've invested too much of my time into this not to want to check in again in two years. Will I stay? That depends. If a lot of you have moved on, then I might move on too, unless I can somehow carve a spot for me in the future Shard two years from now. We'll also have to see where my focus lies in those years after my mission.

Regardless, I'll make an attempt. But I do have a request; make sure the community section keeps going while I'm gone. Draft some new people and be welcoming to those that join. Teach them to participate in TLT (don't let TLPW beat it. Ever. Under any circumstances). Get them into RPs. And SE. And Hunger Games. And all that jazz. Even if the Shard won't be for me in two years, I still want it to be for someone.

So yeah. Thank you all, again, for everything. Until we meet again!

(Also, if you wanted to be on my email list and didn't get added, just ask around and find someone who did. They can send me an email with your address, and I'll make sure you get added.)

  7. Ooh, time for science. :sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart::sylheart: EDIT: Fascinating. Give me a moment...
  8. ...How do you know my address?
  9. But is it between 2 and 4 a.m. today (Sunday)?
  10. True. Until you find as you're structuring your sentence that it's secretly integral to it's cohesion. ...So I say and yet I somehow pull it off flawlessly.
  11. ...I'm not sure if I agree with this or not. I thin it could get a little confusing. And simply substituting it with c doesn't really worc that well.
  12. It's not the kind of thing that needs hugs, exactly. It's just the next step in this journey called life. I've received many witnesses that everything's going to turn out fine for me, if I follow the direction I'm given. Yeah, it might be uncomfortable from time to time, but it's like in Romans 8:18: "For I reckon the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
  13. Dating someone now. The whole explanation is in that big post I made above.
  14. Mm. That's kind of why I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the possibility down the line.
  15. ...Did...

....Did I just hit the rep limit?

    For the first time?

Literally days before I'm going on a two year hiatus from the Shard?

...I never thought this day would come.

  16. That is a very wise perspective. I am in a relationship right now (you know who it's with if you've been paying attention, you peoples who hang out in the wider community section) but both of us have decided to put it on pause while I'm gone. And possibly more than that. I feel like it's not fair for her if I expect her to put her romantic life on hold for two years while I'm gone. Because what if she meets someone who would make a better husband for her while I'm gone, or what if I'd meet someone who'd make a better wife for me months or years after I get back? Basically we're just putting our trust in God and saying "whatever needs to happen will happen." I don't want either of our focuses to be on each other when we have more important stuff to be doing. Me in my service, her in planning out the next steps in her life (she's a little less than a year younger than me.) So yeah. The funny thing is, my parents had a relationship in high school, and did the same thing, and they still ended up together...so who knows. Regardless, the main takeaway from their story was that stopping their relationship before my dad left let both of them focus on what they needed to do, and lead them to the life they needed. Whether or not a present relationship works out two years from now shouldn't matter, in my mind, as long as you've grown enough to be a worthy companion down the line. And the spirit guides in that choice. Yeah, it might still hurt in the moment if it doesn't work out. But that doesn't mean I don't have a bright and happy future in store. Think of it this way; he must be so grateful that his old girlfriend got married to someone else, because if she hadn't he wouldn't have met his current companion, the person he's going to get to be with forever. Yeah, it hurt in the moment, but compared to the joy he has and is going to have for eternity, that pain is basically nothing.

It wasn't the website necessarily that was the problem, rather the fact that I couldn't read the website reminded me that I'm somehow going to be fluent in this language in less than two years and that I'm painfully unprepared to teach something that has changed my life so much for the better in that language.

      There's a lot of work.

(also I've never left the country before and even though I'll only be in Mexico for 5 weeks I'm still nervous about having to deal with all that travel on my own)

Ah, I see. It’s definitely a lot of work, but the Lord is with you, I’ve seen Him perform miracles for missionaries, things that truly shouldn’t have been possible but they happened and it was amazing. You can do this.

  21. Sorry. I'm bad at jokes And sometimes I know they're jokes but I still respond seriously because I have strong opinions when it isn't a joke. So...yeah. I deserve just as much hole-hiding as you if not more.
  22. Bookwyrm floated. He didn't know where or when he was anymore. That was the thing about this place; it never acted how you thought it would. These worlds, these countless, many worlds...they were a dream. An echo. A memory that shifted with time and distance and thoughts and hopes and visions and the many souls that ventured through them... He didn't remember when he was. Or where he was. The tides of the dream had swallowed him again. As they had many times before. He felt as if it was going to be a long, long while before he existed again. Then again, who could say... As Bookwyrm had drifted to the edges of existence, so too had the aspects of the world he'd seen. The structure of existence itself had shifted in his absence, as new souls had carved the face of fate and found a path to their own story. What had once been had passed away, not just into memory, but into nonexistence. No one remembered Kaos anymore, it seemed. Threads that had once been so prominent had all but faded. Thaidakar...Nameless...Emma...Wizard...Calano...Insa... They all still existed somewhere, right? Their mark was still left on this world? Even if it had been swallowed up? Right? When he was gone, would they leave, too? I just wish I knew why. Bookwyrm found himself standing in the lobby of the Clinic. Or...a lobby, at least. No one was around him. The lights were on, the familiar dark wood of the building seeming to welcome him home. Or had it ever been wood? Maybe only to him. Still, in the center of the room, there it stood. The golden statue. Two men, both dead and yet alive. Wizard and Calano. ...Those were a crazy first few memories, there, my friends. He wished he could remember them as well as he used to be able to. This place really was like a dream...the past that had happened didn't line up with the present that was, and the future ahead wasn't the future that you'd thought would happen. So much we thought would happen. I wish I hadn't left. Why did he feel bitter? This was the way of things, now. His time had come and gone. His story had been told. ...That's what this place is for, isn't it? It's for stories. He remembered an old conviction, one that was now meaningless, but it still rang true somehow; "it was never about the cure." Stories. People. They came and gone, but somehow, in their own way, they each built off each other. Would any of them be here if you hadn't been? And can't that be enough? Bookwyrm smiled as he gazed up at Calano's statue. "I can't decide if you'd make fun of me for getting sentimental, old friend, or simply stand beside me." It was weird talking to him like that. Calano wasn't dead. He was living happily with his family. And yet...the waves of time and reality had drawn them apart. Let it be enough. "Regardless...thank you, friend. I don't know if or when I'll be back. But this story was a good one, though ours seems to have ended long ago. "Thank you for making a place where it could be told." Bookwyrm closed his eyes then, a smile still on his face. "Until we meet again." The waves of time and fate took him, and he vanished. @Medium
  23. Yes This And also missionaries are supposed to AVOID any kind of romantic anything at all. Whether that's towards someone interested in the church, or another missionary, or anyone. It's VERY against the rules. So...just....don't.
