  1. The C1 lynch only matters about half the time for the elims, and with 15 people it doesn't matter at all for the elims whether here's a C1 lynch*. However, in cases like this, the loss of the C1 lynch does mean that there's 1 less lynch before parity, so its like handing the elims a free night-kill, or intentionally mislynching on purpose. Now, I get why you don't like C1 lynches, but C1 lynches are a reality of the game, and something that games are generally balanced around (You can definitely balance agame around not having a D1 lynch, but it changes some of the numbers and will affect the proper amount of elims in a number of cases). The loss of a C1 lynch is a real loss for the village and refusal to participate if one is happening anyway isn't helpful, and can appear like someone is trying to wash their hands of something they know is going to be a mislynch. *mathy explanation that might not hold because I'm tired:

  3. Hmm... sorry, this is all a bit upside-down-ish, isn’t it? Anyways, after reading the state of Sanderson, I decided to take a look at the Mistborn coins, and decided to buy the keychain. It came super quick and it’s SUPER AWESOME. Sent from the Canton of Finance itself!! Edit: I just checked the website, turns out I accidentally read last year’s state of Sanderson

  4. We know after OB that Iri decided to side with Odium despite the fact that it used to be one of the Silver Kingdoms and a staunch part of the anti-Odium alliance in the past. However, in Odium's negotiations with Taravangian it became obvious that he is very reluctant to promise safety to human countries in return for their cooperation. My guess is that this is because of the pre-existing deal between Odium and the Fused, which promised them Roshar (but not specified the condition it is going to be in). So, what could he have promised to the Iriali leaders? IMHO, help with moving to their next "Land" and escaping the Final Desolation. After all, that's what we learned about the Iriali from Ym's Interlude back in WoR: The Iriali have been stuck on Roshar for thousands of years and it would make sense that they made the same calculation as Taravangian - that this latest conflict with Odium couldn't be won, and decided that it was finally time for their people to head for the Fifth Land. Why Scadrial? Scadrial is convenient because it has a perpendicularity, yet is mostly empty just 3 or so centuries after the Catacendre - and even before that, most of it was uninhibitable. Now it is largely suited to human habitation, but it would take the Scadrians a long time to build up numbers and spred to fill it. It is also clearly to Odium's advantage to help the Iriali move there. This gambit already worked for him on Roshar, after all. What is more and what makes Scadrians such a threat to whoever is behind the red-eyed "faceless immortals" and to Odium, unless they are one and the same, is that the planet and the people are special because they were created by only the 2 Shards now being combined in Harmony. Other Shards have no purchase there, no beachhead, and Scadrians are extensions of Harmony to the degree not shared by the people and planets created by Adonalsium and later taken over by the Shards, which still have the investiture of all of the 16 in them. By introducing Iriali people to Scadrial, Odium would disrupt this situation and get a foot in the door, so to speak. This snippet from the State of Sanderson may or may not be connected: "I consider Wax and Wayne’s final book to be imperative to finish before I start Stormlight Five." given that it would make sense for the Iriali to leave during a Willshaper book and for W&W folks to possibly run into them either a few years after or in the process of their arrival on-world (in case of time dilation during interstellar travel through the Cognitive), in "The Last Metal".

  5. Sanderson, Weeks, and McClellan all team up (The B Team, if you will), with each writing a chapter/perspective. Their styles are compatible enough, and the magic systems would be WACK. Other author collaborations I've thought of: Sam Sykes, Scott Lynch, and Sabaa Tahir (and then throw in Sarah J Maas for extra oomph); Dan Wells, Dan Brown, and Dan Jones, with the audiobooks narrated by Dan Carlin. Mark Lawrence, Myke Cole, and Merissa Meyer.

  6. I really don’t understand why it’s so important that Adolin doesn’t gain powers . It’s like everyone thinks Hawkeye is cooler than wolverine . Y’all want him to be Captain America when he could be captain marvel . ( when I was a kid she was a he ... lol) Anyways the most exciting arc is for him to revive Maya that’s a game changer by itself . Please let Adolin be all he can be . Good looks and a bunch of heart won’t help him defeat the Fused .

  7. Ok, so I don't have much time right now, but I'll try to do this really quick as it has to be done now before more people get online (thx CadCom : P ) The turning point on the Coda lynch was probably Devotary's vote... About 2 hours ago, but it's more like 2.5 now, I think. Last online: This singles out Kidpen, Elkanah, and CadCom (as he basically admitted he should be singled out, thx!) Out of these people, Kidpen was last online before most elim teams would have sent the order in. Most of the time, they wait some time to get the feel of the players... That actually puts Elkanah kind of in the exact place where they were online late enough to reasonably place the order, yet early enough not to see the switch to Coda. People who have been around SE for a long time have a tendency to attack lower active players D1/2 as well, and Elkanah's first game was LG15... However, I don't know exactly how this thing works... So I wouldn't trust it too much. And meta analysis is fun... but just as often inaccurate as accurate. Well, I personally think my vote jumping was 100% justified. Sart's is interesting. Probably NAI though. Very true. However, if Sart isn't an elim, then Devotary, Striker, and myself are also probably villagers, as we would have more insentive to vote for Sart (the not kill target), over Coda. Even Stick would probably be a villager as she was online near rollover, and could have switched her vote (though I'm less confident about her, I think). I have more to say, but I'm out of time.

  8. Interesting. Probably the best ruling, as quite a few of the other possibilities could have sunk the elim team on the results of C1 alone XD Anyway, I'm going to get some sleep now, hopefully someone else will have figured out who submitted the kill by the time I'm awake again so I won't have to

  9. So, just to confirm, Coda got both lynched and attacked by the elims, correct @BrightnessRadiant? If that's the case I would like to know what you'd do if two elims where to send in different kills.

  10. Cycle 2 Absodel walked quietly through the dark streets of the city, small pockets of light shimmering out from side streets where the wealthy lived. He was going to meet his aunt to watch some movie about people who walked on skies. Sounded pretty normal considering all the epics these days. If his aunt had known about his internship he doubted she would’ve been taking him to see a movie about people with powers. He’d helped cut open more than a few already. He fiddled with his scalpel as he walked, flipping it in the air and opening a palm to catch it. It didn’t come back down. Looking up in confusion he saw a dark figure that appeared suddenly in front of him, cloaked head to toe. “Who are you?” Absodel took a step back, reaching in his back pocket for a surgical tool he could use as a weapon. “You shall kill no more.” The dark figure moved quickly, halting any chance for Absodel to cry out. … “Chief I think I found something.” The officer stepped forward, handing the bag with the bloodied contents to his superior. “What is it?” The chief flattened the bag to get a clearer look at the object inside, holding it up to the light of his flashlight. “I believe it’s a scalpel, sir.” ... "We should kill Sart for being so bloodthirsty!" A voice from the group called out, soon joined by plenty of other voices. "What did I do??" Sart threw his hands up in unbelief. "That guy suggested we kill someone so I said sure cuz I didn't see anyone else actually carrying through with anything." "Yeah he's right!" Another voice chimed in. "We should be focusing on people who aren't even here because they could be out plotting against us!" Everyone nodded in agreement. Noticing Absodel's absence from the discussion they set out to find him. "Hold it." One of the men shushed his companions, and pointed around the corner of the dark alley. They peeked around the corner to see police lining the street. "Oy, that's Absodel's stupid scalpel, ain't it?" The group shushed the man who'd spoken and quickly left the area not wanting to be caught in the city during their secret assignment from the doctor. It looked like someone had gotten to their target first. _______________________________________________________________________ Coda has been attacked and lynched! He was a Loyal with no items. Vote Count: Cycle 2 has begun! This cycle will last for 48 hours and end at 1 PM CST on Monday the 23rd. Good luck! Player List: Black Market:

  11. Brandon has made it clear that this is way more a gray area—both in terms of societal morals and spren opinions—than you’re presenting it here. I remember a WOB saying “sure, Honor wouldn’t have liked it, but Honor’s dead.” And not all spren are honorspren. I believe there’s a WOB that some other spren orders would not have been bothered at all by his actions. ETA a WOB from March 2015: And from the same March 2014 signing: And:

  13. Im against D1 lynching, I have been for the last however many games I've played, but this is a good discussion we have going here, I like it. If I were an elim, then on D1 I would be trying to get a solid lynch on a non-eliminator. In that respect Sart seems suspicious, but I think that suspicion is mitigated for me because of their apparent track record of encouraging discussion with sketchy means. And nothing else really screams elim to me. Butt being laid back doesn't strike me as an indicator for being an elim, and that's most of what I think about them. Not much else has happened in that corner of the ring. Who I am suspicious of is Twibanu. They were the ones that actually started the voting which goes back to elims trying to get a solid lynch going on someone other than them. A long time into the cycle with not very many votes would get an eliminator worried that the village wouldn't kill anyone which would keep more people in the game which isn't really what they want. In addition, I don't understand their logic here: I just don't really know what they're trying to say, and that makes me think they're trying to defend themselves or Sart with village logic after they did something with elim logic. Villagers act with villager behavior, so it's easy to justify your point logically. But it's harder to justify elim behavior with village logic and that's what Twibanu looks like they're doing to me. Stick is working with . . . Odd logic, but it makes sense and doesn't read elim to me. DeTess seems like a villager working with village logic and village motives. I don't think Lemonelon is as suspicious as they think though, it seems to me like a throwaway question asked out of curiosity and not politics. So in conclusion my biggest suspicion lies with Twibanu right now. I don't like to participate in D1 lunches since I don't like contributing to getting someone killed before they can really play the game. But I'm going to be keeping an eye on them from now on I think.

  15. There are two ways to interact with the cognitive realm: 1. Transformation/Soulcasting - Create an "investiture bubble" that looks, speaks and everything like you in the cognitive realm. You can interact with beings in the cognitive realm, but your physical body still stands in the physical realm. Your physical body can still be attacked in the physical realm, and your investiture self can be attacked in the cognitive realm. When you end the effect, your investiture self pops and goes away 2. Transportation/Perpendicularity - You puncture a hole between realms and pass through. You are fully, physically in the cognitive realm. Nothing of "you" is still standing in the physical. You fully transferred to the cognitive. Below is the corresponding WoB that explains: Bromo_Sapien When somebody travels into the Cognitive Realm, what happens to their physical self? To their body? Like Elsecalling or through a Shardpool? Brandon Sanderson Well it depends on the way they’re doing it. The two ways you’ve mentioned transport the physical body. It’s actually creating a rift and slipping them through. But there are other ways that you kind of peek in, where your body’s saying it’s a little more astral projection-y in those cases. Bromo_Sapien So their physical self would also be in the Cognitive Realm? Brandon Sanderson Yes. Bromo_Sapien Okay. Brandon Sanderson Which is weird. Bromo_Sapien As opposed to somebody like Kelsier who died and no longer has a physical self. Brandon Sanderson Yes, right. Or when Shallan is Soulcasting and peeking in, and things like this. It can still be dangerous, because what’s happening is that little soul bubble there that’s manifesting into a version of your soul and then things can get at it in different ways and stuff. So... But yes, going in physically means you just pop between realms, and yeah, yeah… Bromo_Sapien And when they leave the Cognitive Realm their Physical self just leaves the Cognitive Realm the same... Brandon Sanderson Yep, mhm, yep. Bromo_Sapien Perfect. Brandon Sanderson Basically you’re transferring into Investiture and popping out of Investiture, so... Boskone 54 (Feb. 17, 2017)

  18. I tried to clean up the image at the risk of over-simplification: For the word "destroy", I believe it is being spelled D-E-ST-R-O-Y. It does mean that the characters for ST and I are very similar. However it seems like I has a point like a pencil while ST has a point like a razor, but again it's hard to tell on this image. I don't believe any letters in this are capitalized, or they all are, if there even is such a thing in this language. That is because characters for U ("uuould" and "you") and E ("evil" and "like") stay the same. After doing this I noticed a pattern in some of the letters, and I tried to extrapolate some possible other characters (in red): It doesn't work as well for the second set, but I think I'm on the right track as this does give us 24 possible characters, close to our own 26. They don't have a W in their language but they do have an ST so they might be missing other characters, or this chart is incomplete and they have over 26 total. Bonus: We can spell things like Vasher* - Siri - Vivenna - *There could be a character for SH **Had to guess on the N Character

  19. OP credit goes to @Ookla the Very Handsome (Ark1002), @Ookla the Aleatory (Silva), @Ookla the Wine Shelf (Darth Woodrack) A A figure knelt on the top of a rooftop, a hulking mass covered in a hoodie made out of five wolf pelts. In each of its hands rested a massive knife, with ridges, serrated edges, indents, anything to make the stab as painful as possible. A small (comparatively) backpack adorned its back. Crow looked up, smiling grimly. The Acute's were too well protected to kill or take- for now. So she would do something the Marines and the Acute's wouldn't expect. She was going to take their cousins, and do to them what she had done to the Acute's. Well, what Lord Hellbent had started. She was going to take them, enslave them, torture them. And while she was at it... she would kill the parents for the hell of it. She stalked to the edge of the roof, preparing to lower herself to the window. ~-~-~-~-~ S Silk Wered Pushed off a coin and onto the roof. She landed with just the slightest thump. It was a place she liked to go to think. The solitude was a nice contrast to the bustling sounds of inside the house. She loved her siblings, but sometimes she just needed a little silence. The sight of another person on the roof was not a pleasant one. For a moment, Silk wondered if one of the younger ones had gotten their hands on a ladder. That thought was quickly dismissed when she noticed the size of the person. And their attire. Weapons weren't allowed to lay around the house. There were specific places for them--the roof wasn't one of them. Silk still carried some with her. Her parents were fine with most things the older Wereds did, so long as it wasn't at the expense of the younger ones. She stayed silent, watching the person. If it came to it, Silk knew she could Push off and away. Something told her that leaving right then and there was a bad idea. --- On the back of the shade of the window Crow was preparing to enter there was a taped on note. The handwriting was crude and childish, printing the single word: Predictable. None of the Wereds even knew it was there. None of them had put it up. If asked, they would honestly say that they didn't know who had. Only one Acute knew about it and she had been hoping that it would never be read. ~-~-~-~-~ A Crow growled at the sight of it heartbeat, and leaned against the window heartbeat. She leaned back, thinking heartbeat. A bubbling rage filled her at the thought heartbeat of who might have done this heartbeat. Light heartbeat? Freedom heartbeat? Pri heartbeat? The storming space marines heartbeat? She let her hand fall into position heartbeat. A glimmering blade, flamelike, with a skull on each side of the hilt, and a glittering amythest on the bottom. She cleaved the window in half, and slipped into the room silently. It was the bedroom of the Wered parents. These two would die. She turned to the window, and pulled out her fabrial. It was a soulcaster, with only one gem remaining. She soulcast aluminum, transforming the window and the area around it into aluminum. Nobody would escape that way. She grinned, bloodlust filling her, and walked to the parents bed, silent steps. She stood over the bed, the image of death, a blade in hand, her face hooded and dark, and prepared to kill them. ~-~-~-~-~ S Rusts. Silk froze, watching the figure climb down and out of view. She burned steel, trying to track them. Four of her weaker lines vanished suddenly. What on Scadrial? How? It wasn't Allomancy meaning the intruder wasn't from nearby. But who would sneak over in the middle of the night? Who held a grudge? Oh. Of all the rusting ruin out there, this was one she knew they couldn't counter, if she was right. She sighed and pulled out her phone. --- Bened Wered woke to the sound of his phone buzzing. Not much could get through his "Do Not Disturb". He quickly opened it up, read it, then froze for just a moment. Then he jumped out of bed, not even bothering to put on slippers, downed a couple bottles of zinc, and ran up the stairs to the fourth floor, flaring his Rioting throughout the house. It was as fast a silent alarm clock he could manage. --- Sliding down to the lower rooftops, Silk saw the soulcast shut window. She swallowed, then slipped down through the window of Fog's bedroom. Bened's Rioting hit her immediately, alivening all her senses. The risk was real. The little one was fast asleep. She scooped her up and hurried across the hall to the twins. They too were asleep. Silk shook the two awake. The moment Horizon came to, slightly frightened from the Rioting, she motioned for her to burn bendalloy. "Stay quiet," she told them. "Mommy and Daddy might be in danger. I want you to get Branch then go with Bened down the stairs. Pick up the others on the way down. I'm going up." She sent another quick message on a family group chat, telling them the little she knew and was doing. --- Down on the first and second floors, the others were waking up. The Rioting had helped with that. On the upper most floor, a phone buzzed receiving Silk's message. It was locked and as such not readable, but it was a sign beyond the Rioting that people were awake. Chen Wered stirred at the sound. Hina woke abruptly from the sound, Bened's Rioting keeping her from falling back asleep. "What in Ruin's name do you want?" she asked as she sat up. She shook Chen then downed a vial of bronze. She began to burn it, knowing it wouldn't do much good. "Please don't say you want to kill us to pay for something someone did to you because that would be such an overused line and I at least don't want my death to be cliche. I mean, the whole sneaking in the night thing is already pretty predictable for villains, so I hope you're cleverer than you're looking. "Also don't say our worst nightmare. Or death. Or redeemer. Even if it's true. Give us that much respect. We obviously are connected to an important something that hurt you or you wouldn't have gone through all this bother to destroy a perfectly good window." At that point, Chen was also sitting up. "Good window," he said. "Did you know that it might have been around during the Final Empire? Hina, here, doubts it, but I believe so. The frame was held together with four iron nails. Iron. He uncapped a vial of bronze. "But seriously, if you're going to kill us, don't be predictable and do it in front of the kids. That's trite. Be your own person. Don't try to be like those over-the-top serial killers. You do you." Chen smiled. "Or just don't kill us. The blade seems to tell me you won't listen to reason, but it's worth a shot. "Killing doesn't accomplish anything. It'll just get more people mad at you and trying to kill you. If you don't kill us, everybody walks out of here happy." And sixteen people don't walk out of here orphans, he wanted to add. Hina shrugged. "Murder is bad. Bad is evil. Evil is death. Not death on your enemies, but your early death. No one is invincible, not even the strongest armor can protect a murderer." They knew anything they said wouldn't make a difference in what would happen. They said it nonetheless, though, hoping at least some words would haunt the figure in the future. ~-~-~-~-~ A Crow grinned. She liked it when they tried to talk their way out of it. It was even better than begging. And they had asked that she wasn't to say any of those things... so she wouldn't. Crow wouldn't say anything. Crow walked forward, her shardblade carving a line through the floor. Then her blade flashed up inhumanly fast, going through the parents. She chuckled darkly as their corpses fell, and turned. She would deal with them later, to make the message good. But for now... she had to get the kids. One of them had to have seen her on that roof. That's how they'd known she was there. Crow knew a little bit about the layout of the house. There was twins, and they were on the fourth floor. She walked above their room, and instead of taking the predictable route, cut a hole through the floor, falling through it silently, rolling and grabbing the ceiling before it could hit. She looked up, her eyes glowing darkly at the twins, at Silk, at Fog. "If you scream, I will slaughter the rest of your family." ~-~-~-~-~ S Honeed was flaring bronze, searching for active Allomancy in the house, her siblings watching her. "It's gone," she said, frowning. "They aren't burning anymore. There's no sign at all." Semb and Terra looked at each other. They all knew what it meant. Their parents were dead. ~-~-~-~-~ W The tattered one walked into the doorway, cackling. He shot a spike through the home phone as well as any other phones in the house, then sent spikes from his back to block the door. He then bellowed at the children, “Why hello there! Your parents are dead? Are you next? I certainly hope so!” ~-~-~-~-~ S The figure dropped down from the ceiling. Everything was shaping up pretty poorly. Now, Silk knew, the best case scenario was keeping all of them alive. "We weren't planning on it," Silk said, calmly holding Fog against her chest. The twins were hugging each other, showing all the terror she wished she could show. "Screaming would accomplish nothing. Instead, I'll just ask you some questions. First, what in Ruin's name do you want? And second, how do you plan on paying for structural damage repairs? It gets quite costly pretty fast." --- Bened dropped his flare to a more sustainable burn when he reached the fourth floor. He hurried over to Branch's room and picked up the two year old. The sound of Silk's voice told him that the threat was in the twins' room. Good. She'd hopefully be able to keep it preoccupied. He quickly descended the stairwell to the third floor. Fauna, Fild, Clove, and Laurel were all standing there waiting for him. From her stance, Bened could tell Laurel was burning pewter. He shook his head at her. No. Her face fell, but it didn't matter. His six year old sister was not getting involved. Quietly, he herded them down to the second floor. The triplets were there, pain apparent on their faces. They gave him a look that removed any doubt he had left. They were orphans. In silence they went to the first floor. It felt like retreat, leaving Silk, Fog, and the twins up there by themselves, but there was nothing else to do. Viness, Tanel, and Golda stood right by the stairs. Viness took Branch from him. "Fog, Horizon, and Moss?" Golda asked softly. Bened shook his head. "Silk's with them." She opened her mouth to respond as an unfamiliar voice rang throughout the house, following the sounds of destruction. "Why, hello there! Your parents are dead? Are you next? I certainly hope so!" Golda sighed. "Ground floor. And without Silk we've got no other way out but the front door." She pulled out a couple bottles of brass, then downed them. "Come with me, Fild. Let's try to stop this one through reason." Fild nodded and followed her after replenishing his own internal stores of Nicrosil. --- He was pretty hard to miss spotting--all out freaky ghost mode. Golda kept Fild behind her, out of sight. "Hello, there," she said in polite a voice as she could muster. "Would you like a cup of tea?" She flared brass as she spoke. The amount of Soothing was more than she'd ever attempted before, even against Bened's Rioting. She also knew that if Fild burnt nicrosil it would be even more for a moment. It would also rid her of all brass, but it would be a small price to pay. They just needed to clear a way out. And hopefully get Silk, Horizon, Moss, and Fog out too. One step at a time though. ~-~-~-~-~ W The Tattered One screamed and backed away bellowing, “GET OUT OF MY HEAD YOU FILTHY CHILDREN!”! Before shooting a cloud of spikes at their legs. ~-~-~-~-~ A Crow grinned, and chuckled, her voice reverberating throughout the room. "If I need money, I could always sell one of your siblings into slavery. I bet a pair of twins would fetch a nice price..." Her shardblade begane carving the floor, scratching Aon Sheo into the floor. She stepped forward, leaving a line in the floor from the previous Aon Sheo, and began carving it again. She leaned down, and her huge hands shot out, grabbing Silk in one hand, one of the twins in the other. She pulled Silk and Fog toward her, and shoved the twin under her arm. She grabbed the other one. She shoved Silk under her arm, and ripped Fog from her. Crow grinned, and held Fog in one hand. Then she walked out of the room, to go downstairs. That was when she heard the scream. Dammit. She rushed down the stairs, squeezing Fog and the twins, hard enough it would bruise, and landed with a massive thump on the first floor. Crow growled deeply, her voice echoing down to the ground floor. "I warn you, child, that if you do not stop with the mind games, you will soon be cleaved in half." ~-~-~-~-~ S Golda and Fild ran up the stairs to avoid the spikes. "We need a new plan," she gasped out to the others. ~-~-~-~-~ W “Come here little children! I’m not going to hurt you! I just want to play,” He said, stalking towards the stairs. The last word was punctuated by him ramming spikes through the bottom of the stairs, destroying the stairs and the central support structure. ~-~-~-~-~ A Crow Blackice grinned in her hoodie, but it faded fast. She set them down, and straightened, her face dark. "Tattered One, block the door and don't hurt anything but legs and feet." She set down Silk and the twins, still holding Fog. She smirked, letting her hood fall. "That's twelve now. The other two must be the ones who caused the tattered one to scream. A nicrosil, and the soother or the rioter. I still can't remember which." She shook her head, and grinned darkly, her eyes glinting with barely restrained bloodlust. "We're going to go downstairs, and if any of you resist, I kill one of the twins." She turned as the stairs crashed. "Now you'll have to jump. Too bad." Crow reached forward, grabbing Branch from Vinness. "Don't worry, I'll take the littlest ones." Her muscles rippled as she leaned down, and breathed in Bened's face. "Now, all of you... JUMP." ~-~-~-~-~ W “Soother! And fine!” The Tattered one said before returning to the door frame, and spinning back around with spikes emerging from his shoulders and the rest of his body, “And of course I aimed for the legs! The should be on the first floor!” ~-~-~-~-~ S Horizon burnt bendalloy, speeding up time for just the Wereds. "Can you include the sofa in this?" Silk asked her. The little girl nodded. While she couldn't tell any difference from sight, Silk knew it had been done. She dropped a coin then jumped off the ledge, Pushing at it in intervals to slow her fall. Silk dragged the couch over as quickly as she could. Then she Pushed off the coin back up to the others. Silk nodded at Horizon, signalling to drop the bubble. She did so, and Crow, Fog, and Branch began to visibly move once more. Then they started to jump down as though they'd just heard Crow's threat. Silk jumped last, this time not slowing her fall. ~-~-~-~-~ S An ant started doing laps around the house. ~-~-~-~-~ S The ant stopped running and began doing jumping jacks. How did that work with six legs? No idea. Go ask the ant yourself. ~-~-~-~-~ A Crow strode to the edge, moving Branch to the hand with Fog, gripped it, and swung down, landing with a thump. Crow grinned, but her eyes remained cold. She left Branch and Fog in one hand, letting her Shardblade appear from the air. "Now, children, if you don't be good, some of you will stop losing limbs." "You be good little boys and girls, and you'll survive. At least for now." ~-~-~-~-~ S Viness, Tanel, and Silk shared a look. They knew what each other was thinking and they knew it wasn't good. They all shook their heads slightly. No one was going to do something dumb. Golda, however, wasn't watching them. Her eyes were glued on Crow. "Understood," she said, sweetness disguising the hatred she felt. "How do you define good, though? Morally or cooperatively? I'm assuming cooperatively, but it never hurts to be absolutely certain." Her voice hardened. "Especially when the only crime we've ever done is exist." Silk put a warning hand on her shoulder. "Excuse my sister, please. We aren't at our best when woken abruptly in the middle of the night." She didn't mention the fact that she hadn't even gone to sleep in the first place, having chosen rather to get out and enjoy the night. She supposed that may have ended up for the better. They'd at least gotten some warning. "Now, would you like a cup of tea, or would you rather get on with whatever it is you want?" ~-~-~-~-~ W The Tattered one looked Crow incredulously and said, “Are they serious?” Before walking over and grabbing each of their wrists in turn and making a sort of spike handcuffs around them. He then returned to the door. ~-~-~-~-~ A Crow smiled tightly. "Unfortunately, we have places to be, you and I." She pushed the hilt of the shardblade into the small of Silk's back. "Now, everyone, out of the door, one by one. Tattered One, out front, I'll take up the back." She grinned. "We go to the transport point now." ~-~-~-~-~ S The ant watched them leave, as disappointed as the Wereds that neither offer of tea had been accepted. A Criminals had been hired. Lots of them. It had taken multiple gangs to fill up all the jobs that had been required. But when Raven Underdark asked you to do something... you did whatever she goddam asked. If you didn't, you were never seen again, and as likely as not, your family disappeared as well. There was two tasks for the criminals. One was a violent, bloody job, but it would be easier then the other. In the other, they were to be simple messengers- to a house guarded by godlike figures, who didn't show their faces. And they couldn't be seen. At the first house, only three were needed. Sadists, murderers, the scum of the earth. They took two corpses, and mutilated them, skinning portions, breaking bones, making their blood coalesce in puddles upon the floor. They moved the bodies around, so their was puddles of blood on all of the floors. It was incredible how much blood there was in two bodies. They had left the faces untouched, by order, except the eyes, which they gouged out. Then they hung the corpses, using their own intestines, over the front porch, where they stayed, dripping on the porch, covering it in blood, until the neighbors discovered it the next morning. At the second house, a message had been left for each of the children. A message on their pillows. The criminals didn't understand what the messages meant, but they did what they were told. Each message deposited exactly where they were told to put them. They snuck past the armored figures, past the people who were in the house. They entered through windows, through the attic, but all of the messages were placed where they were told. All ten messages. They read:

  20. Now that Shalladin has fallen through , what's gonna be the direction of Kaladin's story ? Since that whole affair is done and Kaladin seems to have dumped his emotional baggage about Roshone , Tien and Amaram he's actually free to live like Syl wants him to. It's obvious that he no longer has any feelings for Laral ( that whole chapter was kinda disappointing). Maybe Brandon might pull a Dalinar-Navani in the later half of the series ? Of course most of us would hate to see anything happen to Adolin Personally I would love to see Kaladin and Jasnah get together . They're like perfect opposites of each other. Kaladin's decisions are driven by his emotions and passion while Jasnah makes cold , calculated decisions. Then there's that moment they shared in Urithru, we've never seen Jasnah banter with anyone like that. Or am I just reading too much into nothing? Of course there's just the tiny problem of the huge age gap xD

  25. I disagree completely that he "deserves" it. What does it mean to deserve to be a Radiant anyways? Radiant =/= "good" or "deserving", imho. It just means a radiant spren has taken a liking to you and you can progress through the oaths at their discretion. Adolin "deserves" it as much as anyone. With that said, I completely agree that I would like him to remain not Radiant. I would like to see, as I mentioned before, Adolin rejecting Radiance in order to remain bonded to Maya. Knowing that if he chooses to bond a Radiant spren, he has to give her up--and choosing not to do that. I would like to think it would be that Connection to her that might revive her to sapience once again, but not healed enough to grant surges.

  26. Sorry about that. I've posted twice (three times, including this post) prior to much lunch discussion. At that time, fewer than half the players had posted, and it was still just mechanic discussions. Nothing at that time seemed suspicious enough to note. Since then, I've been slammed. I have family in town and more on the way, and still have work. And work last night was brutal. Enough with the excuses, though. On to semi-substantial opinions (don't have time for more than a skimmed read). I don't like the lynches on any of the three currently with votes. Sart's sheep vote was most off, but I agree it was likely to draw too much attention for an elim move D1. In my time, I've seen more elims sit out D1 than sheep D1. Coda doesn't stick out as having done anything suspicious to me, so I'm not sure where that lynch is even coming from. And Venture seemed more like an effort to start lynch discussions, and not a real effort to lunch him. Like Coda, I don't see anything actually suspicious. I'm out of time. I'll try to add more thoughts later, and hopefully a vote.

A lifetime is made up of years, a year is made up of months, months are made up of weeks and weeks are made up of days. The most important step is the next one. On the other hand, I'm a small child who doesn't really know much about life, so idk how valid this advice is. So *hugs*!!!!

  33. Crow was beyond caring, beyond reason. She turned inhumanly fast, more fast then even a chaos marine should be able to. She reached out her limb, and the claws snagged into the leg, releasing the energy in that hand. Decaying, sucking in the color, the energy. She reached out with the other, grabbing the other leg. Pulsing, corrupting, a sickness filling it. @Ookla the Heretic

So I'm bored and totally in love with The Rithmatist, and I've currently lent the book to a friend so I can't re-read it. So... thoughts on the rithmatist? Questions? Hopes/concerns for book 2? Someone please help me get thinking about it again.

Then I had to cut down the karaoke track, because they all include the chorus singing the original lyrics. Unfortunately, the cuts are very noticeable...ah well! But I guess I practiced enough because the final product was done with 2 takes. And I noticed after all that, all this time, that I've got a name in there twice! Oops. 100% spoiler free, this song is dedicated to anyone who has every grown overwhelmed or confused by the huge cast and all their various names... Lyrics are in the spoiler tag, the recording is here for you to listen to: I am the very Model of a Major Robert Jordan Fan.m4a

  39. Precisely Marasi is a close second choice as far as Harmony is concerned! We can not deny that he did want Wax first. I fail to see where you think you are saying anything different from me. I agree that she might have been better for this mission. She is smart and efficient. She is often underestimated. Set virtually knows nothing about her, they would not have known what to make of her! She would have managed just fine on her own too! Also Marasi not having any connections to wax’s sister, would not have fallen into the trap also! If she were alone, she would have been more cautious around her! besides it is Wax that sees Marasi’s involvement solely for the purpose that Harmony is manipulating him to join indirectly which I take strong objection to! I think he is thinking too highly of himself and is also underestimating Marasi here! And therefore he does get called out on that by Harmony!! Do not be too hard on her! Wax you are not the only one doing my work!!!!!

  40. Overall At first I thought, oh, another travel chapter. But then it paid off big time at the end and we got DEATH SPARKLES and I am quite happy. I like the searching though I wish they'd turned up a few bigger clues before the firefight. I think this was a solid movement towards the ending. although maybe WRS but why do they think T is there? Do they think she's being hidden away? I thought she had gotten away from the GMOs and was maybe hiding out? Are we to intuit that she was picked up by Mor et al. and secreted away? I love the interplay between Q and E and would love to see it punched up even more. I think they make great semi-foils for one another, but also sort of two sides of the same coin. Like those two with M would make a heck of a crime fighting team! I'll agree with this. It'd be nice to find something of note at the house I'm the only one who liked the death sparkles, apparently. I love them. No shame. As I go - pg 3: oh I love the 'i don't do sports' interplay, noting their respective sides of the queer spectrum. Quality queer content there - pg 7: “Huh,” said Q. “You’ve…” “Sorry,” she grumbled. “I’m <-- I don't understand this interchange. Why does she back down so quickly? - pg 8: M GOT A GUN! - pg 11: For the first time, Q considered that M and T were already dead. <-- does he have emotions about this? - DEATH SPARKLES!!!

  41. I think @Mandamon has pretty much covered most of what I have to say on this. It's very good to finally be getting to the objective that was stated way back in ... chapter 3? 4? But it is yet again more travel. Tense travel, to be sure, but I feel just so DONE with the "getting there" part. I am getting close to done with the "arriving just to be shot at" parts, too. The pregnancy ruse does feel a little hackneyed, but then it is Q, and that feels decently on-brand for him. Ref says, I'll allow it. However, the two checkpoints back-to-back feels a little superfluous, no matter how accurate it would normally be. Maybe one can be summarized, so that there's only one that has "reading time" spent on it? I am also slightly unclear what Q wants with Mor at this point, other than to kill the man himself. To double check the information on his son that the voice gives him? But then, why would Mor tell Q the truth? Corroborating a untrustworthy source with a less trustworthy one seems a little pointless to me.. I am also still fairly flummoxed by how all the businesses fit together and where Q fits (used to fit?) into all of it. ". He needed neither flippancy" -- Well SOMEbody's feeling a little threatened, aren't they? lol. I like D. i also like his joke here. "I’d have though you want" -- I'd have thought you wanted? I've have thought you'd want? I'd have thought you'd have wanted? Okay, yes, did someone's eight-year-old name those flying piranha? It's a weirdly cutesy note to end the super tense life-or-death gunfight and race-to-save-two-women-from-an-evil-meanie-murderer chapter on, so it really stands out.

Cultivation sacrificed herself to buy time for her people. And they left Roshar, all of them together, their struggle for conquest over Roshar forgotten. Looking back together, with tears in their eyes, as their home was sundered. All of them together: Alethi and Makabaki, Veden and Iriali, Reshi and Purelaker, Siah and Dysian, Unkalaki and Natan... centuries later, Elendel Stele: They came from another world, using strange powers without metal, that we have been forbidden to touch. Dangerous powers, of spren and Surges. They destroyed their lands and have come to us begging. We took them in, as commanded by Harmony. What else could we do? They were a people forlorn, without a home. Our pity destroyed us.

Two of the most common compounds are alum, such as potassium aluminum sulfate (KAl(SO4)." - https://education.jlab.org/itselemental/ele013.html So no, it is not found native in some volcanoes. Aluminum is difficult to smelt exactly because it chemically bonds so easily with other elements (mainly oxygen in the atmosphere or surrounding silicate rock). If you try to smelt alum like Iron ore the aluminum will literally burn away so it must be dissolved in solution and then subjected to electrolysis to get the pure metal.

  46. Jasnah in my opinion is too radical adept of logic and cold calculations. Kaladin need someone who can use logic better than him but tone it down a bit, living on the the same mental wave. Thats why i always find Shallan a good partner for him. She is quite a good at logic, but also pretty empathetic for Kaladin to understand her and not be irritated. If Shalladin wont happen in the following books, then i wish him to find Jasnah-Lite. Or, if Jasnah will become a little bit more empathetic, then she may suit Kaladin too.
