  1. I think StormFaker is Shalash. 1) We know that she was present at the party. 2) I don't know if she ever reclaimed her Honorblade but she does mention going to Shinovar. So StormFaker could just be an illusion. 3.A) If what StormFaker said about the Heraldic Oathpact being hidden in the Way of Kings is a complete lie... it might make sense for Shalash to lie. Her Divine Attributes are Creative and Honest. As an inverse of the former, she destroys art that depicts herself, maybe as an inverse of the latter, she's a compulsive liar 3.B ) I was talking with @Friendshipspren and @Aon Tia and they mentioned, if it wasn't all just a lie, she has motive. She might want out of the Oathpact. Or she might want to get Taln out. 4) Finally, when Jezrien died, the Stormfather did not seem to notice anything. The other Heralds did. Why would StormFaker be able to sense what is presumed to be Chanaranach's death? You know who would be able to feel a Herald's death? A fellow Herald I'm pretty sure that entity was not the Stormfather. I don't know about the Stormfather's capability to lie or whatever as a spren. But he certainly didn't feel like the Stormfather. The personality felt quite different. And the appearance too. The Stormfather hated the Recreance Knights for breaking their Oaths, this entity did not seem to. And he straight up noped when Gavilar said something close to the First Ideal of the Knights Radiant. Instead he said he was closer when Gavilar demanded power.
  2. Gavilar really was seeking immortality, he was seeking to become a Herald. The words of the Oathpact are hidden in the Way of Kings. Kelsier (and there's the Seon Brandon mentioned). My brain feels like its rattling. Gavilar didn't know he was dealing with the Heralds... huh. Then Anti Void Light, how? "Betrayed Mishram"? Who was she rivaling? Odium? Oh, so it was Kalak's idea to create Anti Voidlight. Oh my, that's... not the Stormfather at all, is it? A Voidspren? The becoming a Herald thing was probably a lie too then, but why? They got Voidlight from the storm at the Nexus, okay, confirmation that leads to Braize then, I guess. Ah Aluminium boxes again. Gavilar is a total megalomaniac and... not as clever as he thought... and very human. Oh, so it was a Death Rattle that set Taravangian on his path? Is Moelach up to something? The "Stormfather" felt... Chanaranach's death? Hmm... is this... Shalash? She was there at the party. Kel running another con? Or.. it is the Stormfather or it's the Stormfather and someone else pretending to be him?
  3. Or rather, Nale got his killing Radiants to stop the return of the Desolations thing from Ishar. It's quite conceivable that Chana listened to them as well, and so tried to kill her daughter
  4. I liked SP1 a lot, I also liked SP2 which I was not expecting, as it was non-Cosmere. I thought I would just feel impatient for SP3 but I ended up really liking it. SP 3's worlds were awesome, Painter and Yumi and Design were great and I look forward to more. 1-3 are pretty close to one another in how much I enjoyed them. They're pretty much tied in my mind but if I had to put one on top, I guess it would be SP3. I didn't really enjoy SP4 all that much, I was just interested in the Night Brigade and figuring out what was going on and who the main character was. The setting was fascinating but the story itself wasn't really all that enjoyable for me. I still like it, but not as much as the preceding stories.
  5. I knew the Your Name parody poster was coming even before I scrolled down, lol Well done!
  6. Just had an idea: Are they the group that opposed Adonalsium that still exists? Also, gah, Hoid dropping pre Shattering hints again. Damn, things were really going to hell around the Shattering. I'm really curious about those Yolish gods. There was so little info on their nature in the unpublished works.
  7. If Night Brigade is the canon name for Dust Brigade, and we were going to meet them in the Threnody novel, what the hell had Brandon planned for that novel? Stormlight 5 is going to have a big ending. Maybe I should start seeing it almost more like Mistborn original trilogy and Wax & Wayne rather than just sequels with a longer break time in between. But what would necessitate this? Perhaps just the Night Brigade's arrival? That'd make them quite intimidating.
  8. Live reactions Uh... I don't remember any character named Nomad. Let's hope he doesn't go the way of most fantasy prologue PoVs who're not main characters and get himself killed! Hmm, seems he's Rosharan and on Roshar? The Night Brigade! I wonder, the finalized name for the Dust Brigade (the group), perhaps? Skipping sounds like teleporting "I have insufficient Investiture to establish a local Connection." Bruh, he has a combat AI. How much in the future is this? Hmm not on Roshar but similar flora. "Torment"? Hmm... might be payment of some kind for his abilities? But more likely it sounds like a plain old curse, guess we'll see "Squire"? My, my. Stormlight adjacent indeed. Clearly they've made quite a lot of progress Ooh a... Briarheart style undead - or Emberheart in this case, I suppose He was hoping his Oaths would override some parts of his Torment. Not that it didn't work but he apparently didn't make any Oaths (so... not a Skybreaker Squire then) Hmm large sun, Ashyn is closer to the Rosharan system's sun. Could this really be set on Ashyn? Torment is also stopping physical fights - reminds me of Hoid. And Nomad could indeed be a Herald - with that attitude and that healing factor. Also the Knight who's Squire he is seems to be able to perceive him via their Connection Wow the plants are dying from the sunrise? Well they're probably gonna rise like a phoenix or some such given that life is a thing that persists on this planet and such a cyclical pattern of rebirth is actually kind of a classic. Perhaps they only have a life-cycle of a day? Also, wow, what a barbaric culture Uh... Aux, who I assumed was the Knight, is already dead? This man has gone Szeth. Oh or his spren. Duh. Oh, a "dead" spren. But, that can't be right. That would've been dealt with after RoW, right? A planetary ring, aren't those rare on terrestrial planets? I suppose there are impossible-er planets in the Cosmere (looks at Taldain). Would be pretty though! Flying cities but this is not Ashyn, according to our intrepid hero (believe it or not "depressed hero" was a typo, lol). And they have a Predator Cities / Mortal Engines aesthetic here, I kinda like that. Except that these cities aren't running from bigger cities but the sunrise... Skipping takes external fuel, okay, but why is he talking about it like it takes actual fuel? Does he actually mean actual fuel rather than Investiture? Oh, Invested material... And why don't they live underground? Religion? Were the sacrifices that too? Just who's the Shard running this place? Oh, is the last Shard literally Sacrifice? Or perhaps something on similar lines as Dominion judging by these Emberhearts' bad attitude Heh, is this perchance, Hoid's inspiration for Fleet Starship comparisons, for a sec got pulled into a different Sanderverse. A caravanserai city, huh. Running from the sun. The sun being the source of life, death, light and Investiture. I'm liking Brandon's aesthetics in these Secret Project locales You know, reading about about freezing up just while going to punch some really punchable ppl suddenly makes me pity Hoid a whole lot more Cinderheart. Eh, I like both names, Cinderheart or Emberheart. "ability to metabolize nearly any kind of Investiture" is part of his "Torment", hmm, now what does this remind me of? Hmm, so this Hoid like non-violence thing is possibly his Nightwatcher Bane? Heh, his mechanism for controlling the Cinderhearts got hacked by some rebels, it seems. Ooh, is our intrepid hero going to become their Girl On Fire? "Like Awakened Corpses", so he's been to Nalthis apparently. Flying reminds him of better times - seems more and more likely he's a former Windrunner. "Airsick". Not Alethi. Who are you? This planet smol. Oh hey, the rings are important to the settings and not just for show, that's sweet! Night brings rain, Ring light & Investiture brings growth, sunrise brings both Investiture and death. "An after-effect of the burden he’d once carried, the thing that had given him his Torment." Very Hoid like. Did he literally carry that Dawnshard then? Afraid of bringing the Night Brigade to Roshar, they must be formidable indeed, then, but who are they? I'm assuming they hunt Dawnshards? Oh these people are Threnodites. Do they just have really bad luck? Or are they just suckers for pain who only colonize hellworlds? Or is this Monody, Elegy or Coronach? So these Cinderhearts might be the... original magic system of Threnodites? This is what they turned into rather than Shades maybe? Would track with darkness and fire, can't think any parallels for sound or movement tho. "Adonalsium-Will-Remember-Our-Plight-Eventually" Oof. Scadrian medallions have been making a name in the Cosmere, eh. Oh they created an underground bunker, well they do have a history with underground bunkers. Hmm what do they mean by "column", where were they from before they hid in the darkness? Oh, curly hair, not Alethi, Windrunner... you're Sigzil! Oh former master was referring to Hoid, of course! Connection conversations are great, they have VR calls, basically. Ah, Hoid did this to him, okay then. Is this a different Dawnshard than Rysn's? Three apprentices - something to keep an eye out for in the future. Huh, and this would happen to Sig in SA 5, okay then.
  9. I think the Wisdom / Prudence / Survival / hiding Shard is the last one, and probably would only be revealed in era 4
  10. Was hoping it was Taldain - single dark star, perpetual night, glowing lights? That all sounded like Darkside but... it's a new Shardworld! Also a new Shard - Virtuosity! Who... Splintered herself.... uh... because she thought it was virtuous to sacrifice herself or felt she was undeserving of the power maybe? It's possible that we're seeing the Cognitive Realm of the planet, where the Nightmare Painter lives. That single star could be the sun of the Cognitive Realm, which is distant here? (Also, look at the term: Nightmare Painter, perhaps nightmares manifesting in the Cognitive). It's about time we went on a planet where people live on the other side! Could also just be that their star is very distant from the planet, in which case those magic lines are the only thing keeping them alive. I have no idea what's going on with the darkness though - even Hoid doesn't! Hoid is narrating this story to a Rosharan, probably Jasnah, I think Hmm... so on the same planet, on the other side is a star that's far too close. Sounds like a red dwarf. Another Taldain situation, it seems. Interesting reasoning for weird Japanese wooden sandals, haha, I always boggled whenever I saw those depicted in anime. Hmm spirits huh, so these people also have spren like entities, makes sense, a Shard was Splintered here, after all. Roshar has its spren and Sel its Seons and Skaze for the same reason, as well as Threnody its Shades. Huh, another location where the local flora uses Investiture, they're floating in the air - ...taking nutrients from the air? What the hell, how does that work? Oh - nightmares manifesting, so it is on the Cognitive! Huh, this effect reminds me of the titular Aether of Night. "on Painter's world"? Hmm are these two different planets, seeing the same star but from a distance? I hope my dreams of a world whose inhabitants... inhabit both the Physical and the Cognitive aren't going to go up in flames (not counting Roshar, spren and humans & Parsh are different) Not a star! That's a planet! Okay then... two planets. Hmm why is the Painter's world completely starless - oh right, the shroud, the darkness thingy, I forgot, ugh, so and this other planet, on which the Chosen girl lives, which looked like a star from the distance to the people of the Painter's world, it is the only celestial body whose light cuts through the veil of darkness. Is it more Invested? Also, the... ley lines? linear auroras? magic neon lighting? *checks term* ah, the hion lines, they stretch all the way to space!? Nightmares are being described as predators that feed on the mind, Hoid is grouping them with the predators on First of the Sun and the Shades of Threnody, seems logical, even the spren of Roshar technically count (well the emotion spren, not the nature spren). Never thought to group them like that before! So simple in hindsight. I was curious what exactly a Nightmare Painter would do. I was expecting something like Sai from Naruto, creating living paintings (I forgot Rithmatist was a thing, lol). I was wondering if he'd use the hion lines or the shroud as paint, but he's just using normal paint. Hmm sealing? Or... this might not be an Invested Art at all. It might just be... how Nightmares are, and the Painters are just turning their own nature against them. "prospective rivers", lol. I was wondering about how they got water on a baking planet... no I was not - where was she bathing again? Wasn't that a lake? Ah, a cold spring. So there are cold springs and hot springs on this planet whose surface is scalding, because of too much heat as it is too close to a red dwarf (and sound like they can see its solar flares, iirc, red dwarfs have bigger flares and more frequently). I'm not sure if all that works under normal physics, it sounds like it can but I'm not sure? Ooh, migratory flora and tree herders, I like that idea! Uh... these trees and some of those houses have to be riding more than the thermals though? Fay? Is Hoid just using that word in a superstitious sense, or is that actually a type of entity. Also, what kind of creativity do Seons respond to? We really need that Elantris sequel and more details about that world. I think that's a joke about Radiants inhaling Stormlight from spheres and Jasnah hasn't literally started eating marbles... Huh, she is attracting the spirits and... temporarily binding them... its kinda like temporary Soulcasters. Should probably list down the types: Pair of light orbs: bright and dim Pair of repelling, takes the the form of grimacing statues Flyers, which sound like drones (also they've domesticated crows!) Spirit saw (wonder how they compare to Shardblades) Sounds like the process does take Investiture, so its not just using the Spirit's nature and training oneself in art to attract them, then asking them for help. The spirits are bound by... sympathetic magic in rock Jenga art, and its quite reminiscent of the Surge of Adhesion. (Low power Bondsmith?) Also, sounds like Investiture is distributed by heat here? Painter's world uses the lines for light, and for heat, this is also how their plants grow (though the people do also have mundane science). Wonder why the lights repel the shroud though. Do they not come from the same Shard? Hoid... owns the restaurant, well, in part. And Design is working there? Wonder how much time it took for them to crack taking spren off-world. Looking forward to seeing Kelsier elsewhere, maybe perhaps in Secret Project #4 itself, who knows! "A complicated wireframe Lightweaving with force projections attached directly to her cognitive element as it manifested in the physical realm." oh. my. god. Solid-ish illusions huh, like Shallan displayed in OB, so... that Surge is a bit wide on the electromagnetism manipulation huh. This is... getting crazy... Lightweaver best Order. Oh, Hoid can see things through Design, makes sense, I guess. Huh, guess chopsticks are just gonna be called MaiPon sticks in the Cosmere. Sel is going to become influential in the future, I assume. Oh look: " I suggest, if you have the option, that you avoid trying to meet a Cryptic’s gaze. Their features—when undisguised—bend space and time, and have been known to lead to acute bouts of madness in those who try to make sense of them. Then again, who hasn’t wanted to flip off linear continuity now and then, eh?" Lightweavers have the best spren too. Aww, I love Design! Did I mention that Lightweavers have the best spren? ?!?! Hoid is frozen in time like a statue?! Well, he got better, apparently. But. What. How? What! Wait... is this how his time skipping works? Rose petals and starlight, bruh this girl lives like how TV show heroines are shown to be living, lol. Mention of Scadrial! Ah what Yumi's planet refers to as the Daystar is the other planet. Also uh-oh that wish. This... might turn into a Your Name situation! They both want what the other has. Interesting that this spirit says they're imprisoned. Huh, she can Connect to spirits, I get that, but how did she reach this one then? Especially if they're really on the Painter's world? Does she naturally project her thoughts in the Cognitive Realm? Boy, I sure do hope she isn't going to free some terrible bound Nightmare. Hopefully, she instead frees the planet from the Shroud. Oh no, please write down what you encountered with your brush! And too late, the switcheroo has happened. You know, this story kinda has a reworked Aether of Night feeling, now that I think about it. Wait, not a switch, he got summoned to Yumi. He's in her body and she's incorporeal. Ah, Brandon said "one another’s magic systems", so that binding / sealing via painting thing is an Invested Art too, not just tricking the Nightmares. Or we didn't see the Invested version of what Painter was doing - we didn't get to see the Dreamwatch, who we're told handled stable Nightmares Oh, I should've mentioned this at the beginning, I was reacting as I was listening (and later reading)
  11. Oh that is a very interesting idea on where the two different hybrids came from! I wonder if a hybrid species that could have a Gemheart might be possible or what would happen if one of the Regals or the Fused had hybrid children. Era 4 questions, I guess...
  12. "Huuuuu hands are warm" then she made a choking sound like an elephant seal "HIS JAW WAS SO STRAIGHT IT MADE OTHER MEN WONDER IF THEY WERE"
  13. Hemalurgically taking out the entire Spiritweb and grafting it on someone else?! How Orochimaru! Sounds like possession. It might be possible, and what a fascinating idea. Hey, with the Feruchemical Spiritual quadrant - that stores Identity, Investiture - maybe it's possible to create a literal Metalmind and transfer your mind into the Metalmind. But all of this is probably era 4 stuff!
  14. Were you rewatching Parasyte the Maxim? I think they can donate their flesh to living humans, sure, but they probably can't pull off a Migi, Kandra have more mass than that, iirc. But I do rather like the idea, maybe there's a way to get a Migi like limb - maybe Bestarin Aether (from Aether of Night) could do it? Or fabrial prosthetics. I think you yourself will have to be a shapeshifter, and this would have to be partial shapeshifting.
  15. Aethers might utilize Anti Investiture? - Ars Arcanum, RoW Also, apparently the Aethers are quite a bit difficult to harness if Worldhoppers are having this exchange Probably still involves bonding of some kind, as they did in Liar of Partinel and Aether of Night I think it's probably supposed to be spelt Lunargris or Lunagris, like the real life substance Ambergris. Edit: just checked the text version, Brandon spells it as "lunagree". Ah, just got told that Ambergree is an accepted spelling of the word, so might be based on the same thing. That also reminds me... how are these people eating that much salt? Hmm... Brandon may be reusing his idea of Saltcrops from Mythwalker. Also are all the Aethers world seas from Verdant? Can't be, right? They're different colours, so spores from different Aethers? Interesting that the Sorceress lives in the Midnight Sea then, seems like Brandon will have a reworked Aether of Night (as in, the substance), that's nice. Presumably, it's specifically Verdant spores that react to water (reminds me of White Sand, but probably not all that connected). There's still an Amberite like crystal Aether (which we know from Stormlight, courtesy of Mraize), probably the Crimson Sea one. Hopefully Ferrous and Bestarin also make their way, as they were my favorite Aethers! Finally, the moons are the sources of the spores... that's... the largest physical manifestation of Investiture we've ever seen if the moons are Aethers. No wonder they compare themselves to Shards, geez (as per this WoB: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/479/#e15226). Maybe the moons aren't themselves Aethers, they've just... taken them over. Ah wait, the Cognitive Anomaly in Nalthis' orbit would be the biggest physical manifestation of Investiture we're aware of, given it's literally planet sized (assuming it's made of Investiture, which it probably is - it's definitely not made of matter or energy)
  16. Here's what I thought they were most likely to be: Probably not Silence Divine, I expect that to be a Stormlight back 5 novella; probably not Sixth of the Dusk sequel or Kingmaker, those are not secret; probably not White Sand 2 either, not secret and also supposed to be comics I think? 1) Aethers books: one of the major magic systems of the Cosmere, as per Brandon and he had been dropping a lot of info about them recently. The Aethers world's seas have been mentioned by Khriss, and one of the covers depicts the sea. 2) Nightblood: a story that he'd have had quite a good idea of for the framework but supposedly hasn't started in on yet. 3) Dust Brigade (Threnody novel): Brandon's talked about it a bit, and Isaac is supposed to have made good progress on his Threnody work, iirc, so maybe Brandon's worked on his too. This is also what I'm hoping for the most. The book is supposed to open with a shipwreck as people try to sail back to the Homeland to try to reclaim it from the Evil, iirc, and one of the covers depicts the sea. 4) Obrodai or a new Shardworld of one of the Shards first mentioned in Rhythm of War! Obrodai is supposed to be a Sea World and one of the covers depicts the sea. Guess I'll find out if Secret Project #1 is one of these soon! Update: And it is the Aethers world! Edit: numbered according likelihood, not corresponding to Secret Project serial numbers!
  17. Yeah, Aethers do seem more likely, they're a major magic system of the Cosmere, as per Brandon, and he's been talking about them a lot more recently. But y'know, that's the project that I was looking forward to the most. Watching the reading now, was not expecting the... s- err, spoilers. Brandon's reading from Secret Project #1, here's the link:
  18. Mythwalker is Warbreaker Prime - with elements of Mistborn and Dragonsteel and Aether of Night, it's up on Brandon's website for reading. But without any links for downloading. You'll have to copy and paste it onto a document by yourself.
  19. I hope one of them is the Threnody novel, one of the covers does seem to depict the sea, and the Dust Brigade is supposed to start with a shipwreck
  20. Yup the trilogy and the duology. I liked the former much better. In case you haven't heard of it: It is a very YA book series. As is the Shadow Hunters chronicles and ooh boy it has been some time since I thought of Simon, Clary, Jace, Sebastian, I didn't really like the other series within the series so I don't really remember the other main characters - the Victorian love triangle and the forbidden Parabatai romance siblings. Oh. Yeah, incest warning - sort of. They're not really siblings. Eh, spoilers. These are aimed more towards a teen female audience, so if you're more for action or adventure, fair warning, you might not like these books all that much, Shadowhunters is specially more paranormal romance than fantasy. The Grishaverse trilogy and the Six of Crows duology aren't really action-y but they aren't really character focused either - the books were too short for that, but they're quite entertaining. Neither of the two are nearly as badly written as Twilight imo, which is just really, really dramatic and bland. Crooked Kingdom (book 2 of the duology) was kind of a disappointment after all that build-up, so I say stick to the trilogy. And the short stories! Where Bardugo really shines is her short stories. So, please get her short story collection, they're great!
  21. This author of ours is just too unbelievable  Go check out the new video on Brandon's channel everybody, MAJOR book news
