  1. Judging by the questions Veil was asking Adolin about one of his exes, I could see the answer being yes
  2. See you around on the forums : )
  3. The Shard itself is bound by its word. Taravangian is still bound by his predecessor's agreements, we see that when he thinks back to Rayse's failures in trying to maneuvre Dalinar and finding a loophole to edit Hoid's memories.
  4. I think that's just that just before the Recreance the Radiants were fighting Thunderclast and so that's how they left their Blade. The speculation iirc comes from Dalinar either when he dug out a latrine with his Shardblade or at the Purelake Thunderclast Vision
  5. Happy Birthday (in advance?)!

  6. How about the Shard of doing nothing? Given the in-world organization's non-intervention policy, and how easy it is to fall into the rabbit hole that is the Shard
  7. What if Roshar ends up having a separate Women's Script and Men's Script?!

Written language for blind people, it uses raised dots in specific patterns to correspond to letters

      Friendshipspren

Idk i think men would most likely adopt the women's script with maybe a  few gender pronouns added.

I can't imagine navani or Jasnah standing for the non sense of 2 scripts

    4. Hen

      Hen

      Spoiler

The 'I' Navani taught Dalinar really meant 'I, as a female'

Yeah but this was resolved because (It is OB btw, so I probably don't have to spoiler it, but)

      Spoiler

She ended up teaching him the "I" that's used when quoting a man. So if a man said "I walked" and they wrote it down, that would be a different, male specific "I", and that's the one she taught him. so they have the gender specific pronouns somewhere, they just have to dig for them.

  8. We're actually in there with you, always just behind you Welcome : ) You can subscribe to Brandon's newsletter to get White Sand prose (which is much better than the comics for the most part). When you get the e-mail, scroll down, there should be a link to download it.
  9. Existence is transient Welcome to the Shard
  10. Oof! That should've been easy to guess!
  11. the Sadeas carpenter who tried to assassinate the Kholins?
  12. Yeah, Brandon tried to write an autistic savant type character in Elantris which was a bit problematic, but he's improved a lot since then. Brandon intends for Adien to be a main protagonist in the Elantris sequels, so there'll be more of that, improved! There's also Steris in era 2 of Mistborn. Don't forget physical disabilities, with Rysn in Dawnshard : )
  13. Granted, you get a full set of suns from some stellar system, needless to say, you're atomized. I wish for the ability to turn wine into water (yes, you read that in the correct order the first time.)
  14. Welcome to the Shard, glad to have you here with us!
  15. Clubs? wait, minor character... Ral, whom Tien was apprenticed to?
  16. Those look good! We only have this bit for Steel Alphabet fonts: And this bit for handwriting: I'd love to see someone take on Steel Alphabet handwriting! *nudge* *nudge* P.S. Welcome to the Shard!
  17. Welcome to the Shard!
  18. Yeah same, but his mental state at the end made me feel a sense of fulfilment and closure, that helped a lot. Then again, I got gut-punched for the fourth book in a row (eheheh!) with the Tien feels, and then Eshonai at the end too. I think the book addressed grief beautifully.
  19. I've always liked that core tenet of human potential for the divine.
  20. Thanks for indulging me, religion can be a sticky topic to talk about. That... is a bit presumptuous and potentially offensive, but all Abrahamic religions seem to have that one true religion bit. Some other major religions like Hinduism just subsume other beliefs. Hmm... just be nice if someone with a more personal faith / not devout / non scripture adherent / irreligious / atheistic / other sects, etc expresses their beliefs and interpretations of Brandon's work?
  21. How likely is it that this might be like the magical sickness of the Heralds in a way? That the existing Connection between Moash and Kaladin, while Kaladin is a Radiant and Moash is... something of Odium's, is affecting how Moash perceives him, rather than being a purely psychological effect?
  22. Wait, @Ixthos, so how do you rationalize other faiths: All beliefs are somehow true for their respective believers All religions unknowingly worship the same god, just in different ways There is one true religion, all others are false/misled, which one it is will be revealed eventually Something else entirely?
  23. Also in Renarin's specific case, within the Cosmere: Shards are seen by some as gods but not everyone, others see them as pieces of the real god Adonalsium, others see them as just powerful beings, believing in the God Beyond, who's supposed to parallel capital-G God, whose existence or inexistence Brandon does not intent to confirm, like the question of the afterlife / Beyond or the exact nature of the soul & Cognitive Shadows. Different religions have different interpretations of God/gods and goddesses, which the work is supposed to reflect, including atheism, who technically speaking just believe in one (or three-in-one) Gods less than you. People are allowed to express and explore their beliefs, including authors. Also, personally I thought of the Ouroboros when I heard the meaning of Renarin's name.
