  1. Ferrous is also used in architecture in the Aedin capital of Vae Annitor to provide a near unbreakable foundation for otherwise architecturally implausible structures, also to provide heating or light in said buildings. Yeah, Ferrous users become glorified decorations for needlessly flaunting the nation's power, and/or central heaters. They can also become Corpates, a mode of transportation for the rich and powerful, which look a little like the things from War of the Worlds, though not as big. They are functionally immortal once they transform though, only other Ferrous users can communicate with them afterwards.
  2. I think I see what you mean, individualism as evil does sound a bit... yeah. But probably, we'll see several interpretations of this particular Intent, I think Brandon intends to take advantage of Autonomy's multiple Avatars to this narrative purpose
  3. Huh, assuming that it is a godmetal-ish thingy, yeah, actually that's quite plausible. The Dor is a pressurized mix of Devotion and Dominion, so their Physical manifestation could reflect that mixing and interpret it as inherent Corruption perhaps maybe?
  4. Brandon once talked about Mental DNA, much like Physical or Spiritual DNA I suspected that zinc and brass are manipulations of this Mental/Cognitive DNA as, well, its a manipulation of the mind/cognitive. Also the emotion spren on Roshar did support the idea that emotion are Cognitive in nature in the Cosmere. Zinc and brass having similar properties in fabrial science, more specifically on spren makes sense, spren are Cognitive Entities. I suspect it seems similar to Allomancy because of the components of Allomancy: Preservation's Investiture, metal as key filtering the power to have a specific effect and an Allomancer's ability to burn certain metals, which comes from their Spiritweb or sDNA. Allomancers can burn metal from other worlds, which proves that there's nothing special about Scadrian metal. Since other people don't have the requisite sDNA, they won't be able to burn the metals, but the metals themselves can still act as a filter. I think that you can use them to filter Investiture from other Shards as well, not just Preservation. This filtering ability of these metals is Spiritual in nature
  5. One Surge doesn't necessarily mean only one power: basic and reverse Lashing of the Windrunners (& presumably Skybreakers) via the use of Gravitation. Abrasion could also be divided similarly into increasing or decreasing friction, we've only seen Lift use the latter, the former could be used for better grip or to set things on fire, very Edgedancer-y and Dustbringer-y respectively. Over to more complicated break downs of a single Surge there's Illumination and Transformation. The former involves forging Connections with people and objects, which can apparently be used for remote viewing, as well as manipulation of the EM wave and sound waves, together these two components allow one to Lightweave. Soulcasting has its ten Essences, which can be called it's sub classifications, and in Way of Kings Prime was it's own thing. Similarly, though the Fused seem to be using a copy of one Surge, it doesn't necessarily translate into one power. We see Kaladin speculating that the Heavenly Ones' flight and Lashings might be separate powers. Abrasion might be divided into two or something, where one expression of the Surge is used by one type of Fused.
  6. Brandon thought that was Dalinar if not then Gavilar, maybe
  7. In addition, the Fused might be using chromium/aluminium/nicrosil/duralumin for suppressing Surgebinding/Stormlight use, if metals are involved in that, then this quadrant is a safe bet for what could be causing that effect
  8. A monolith? It's not in the area of Shadesmar we got a map for from Nazh back in OB, that contained rough representations of the structures, none were like this, plus the Honorspren cities are not in that area, which is where Shallan and Adolin are headed Frozen waves? Part of the land water inversion in the Cognitive or something else? What are those things behind Shallan? Some kind of spren? Adolin's hair looks white, while it could be simply the lighting there's also the colourful aura in the stone below him
  9. Good name you snatched there

  10. Okay, so he asked her which one she was in Ch 7, though he was able to recognize her Oathbringer, this is still a good sign
  11. I mean, those properties could be inherent to the metals, just the Metallic Arts stem from Preservation and Ruin, they provide the fuel, but the key is still the metal. As long as you're not trying to use the metals to access their power, the metal could still act as a filter. This is what I suspect is happening. P.S. this topic: so zinc and brass make sense, they must affect the Cognitive in Allomancy as well copper and bronze might also be usable and have similar effects to Allomancy when used in fabrials
  12. 1) Zinc and Brass, Rioting and Soothing for fabrials, or rather for spren, they are Cognitive entities: to me that more or less confirms the idea that affecting emotions affects Cognitive self. 2) Goodbye Ialai! 3) I would say that particular exclamation would be more suitable if one substitutes Nale's name with Taln... assuming Rosharans have the phrase. Brandon's getting more colourful! Though he's used that expletive before (Wayne), as well as that turn of phrase (Preservation substituted for Nale), but not quite that directly. 4) Hope Navani reverse engineers the Surge canceller!
  13. Ah, that seems to be happening a lot these days. Just go to the duplicate topics, click the flag icon at the top of the post, and say you accidentally double-posted, the mods should take care of that. You could join the 17th Shard on Discord if you're hungry for Cosmere conversation, the link should be on the main page
  14. Leet is just an old gaming term, coming from "elite"
  15. Welcome to the Shard! You should check out Reading Excuses: https://www.17thshard.com/forum/forum/38-reading-excuses/
  16. Welcome aboard! I would also suggest reading Warbreaker
  17. Either the second or third one. I actually like a stark background for this, it fits well with the characters. The starry one is quite appropriate too with the theme & setting. Though the first one isn't bad with the contrast between the two characters but that's still there in the other two pictures without the... glare from the light source?
  18. Confirmed by Brandon to be silver
  19. Welcome, welcome
  20. ^ About Lightweavers, from Brandon's site Mistborn spoilers
  21. I think that would depend on how the small objects view themselves. Were they pieces of a larger object, then Lashing them might work.
  22. Well, not me, you'll have to ask a different Inquisitor
