And that's Jasnah's reaction, one which Ivory lauds her for, and says her reactions are much less emotional than most other people's. We've seen one Vision from Tanavast regarding the Recreance and heard about the event from Stormfather, both of which point towards people who reacted by breaking down. Maybe there were Radiants who didn't react like that. Maybe we're seeing a more uniform reaction for narrative purposes.

Actually I'd say the resounding success probably helped lead them to that. They'd just turned an entire race mindless, on top of finding out that their powers destroyed their previous homeland and that they invaded the aforementioned race and now there's a perpetual war over the land.
-
They all abandoned a whole lot more than that. The Recreance happened.

Could you link the source? Also, I'm getting really tired of official but non-canon art already.

The Sibling being the Urithiru godspren is one of the most common theories and the one that I subscribe to. In-book, Navani thinks so too. "one Bondsmith was in constant accompaniment of Urithiru" and "goodbye sweet Sibling" were pretty big hints. The deterioration of the tower was being linked to the withdrawal of the Sibling. Maybe the Recreance was simply the final nail on the coffin.

We were told Melishi was planning to do something which only a Bondsmith could do during the False Desolation and Bondsmiths can manipulate Connection. We were also told that during the False Desolation, Ba-Ado-Mishram somehow Connected to the Parshmen and supplied them with Voidlight. There were also records that there might be side-effects. The spren confirm that the Parshmen's Identity & Connection were stolen somehow. We're also told about the Last Legion who went on to become the Listeners in Narak escaped before that happened. So what we've seen and what we've been told seem to support the assumption that Melishi succeeded in imprisoning Ba-Ado-Mishram.

What will we actually learn about Dawnshards?
Honorless replied to Eternal Khol's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think the evidence is simply referring to the source of info regarding the Dawnshards: Tanavast. I'm not sure how much we'll learn about Dawnshards in this book, but I don't think the Scouring of Aimia or Dai-Gonarthis will be answered in this one. But then again, who expected half the things that happened at the end of Oathbringer?- 12 replies

What is going on? What is aether of the night?
Honorless replied to wiritospren's topic in Aether of Night
It's an unpublished work of Brandon's, like Mythwalker, White Sand prose, Way of Kings prime, except this one hasn't been reworked and released like the others. The Shard distributes it here: -
What types of stars are those two anyway? I was thinking that the Darkside star might be a white dwarf but would a white dwarf be able to sustain a binary system like this and if so for how long? (Looks unhappily at WoP regarding Rosharan moons). Because why would a star be so dim, is it all because it's obscured by the particulate ring? What is that supposed to be? A protoplanetary disk? I was thinking maybe the other star is like a supergiant or a red giant (which it probably isn't, since it's blue), but that would make it a variable star and people on Dayside would notice that. These two stars shouldn't be in such a close to perfectly circular orbit much less have a planet dead centre between them, tidally locked.

Okay, so, the largest chunk of Autonomy's power is probably in the sun, as Brandon's said that her Investiture can be used anywhere that reaches her starlight (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/121/#e4770) and Khriss said that Autonomy's Investiture coming from the sun is the most simplified version of what's going on. Autonomy probably is also Invested in the atmosphere: there's all those faces in the sky in the graphic novels. Also Taldain is tidally locked, one side permanently heated by the sun & one in the (relative) dark: it should either have been facing massive hurricanes (hot air expanding from Dayside while cold air compresses on Darkside) or have all its atmosphere stripped from its surface, or the first situation slowly leading to the latter. Also Brandon has confirmed before that Autonomy is in the atmosphere of Taldain. I think those two WoBs don't contradict one another at all. Looking back at the Patji being a Shard of Adonalsium WoB, Brandon has tried to keep his cards close to his chest like this before, and it also provides an answer to what Autonomy might be doing. While a weather phenomenon could be managed by a Shard (like the Mists on Scadrial), something like this might need and/or create a sentient being (like the Highstorm on Roshar), but rather than Splinters, Autonomy might be using Avatars. It's possible that Taldain, like First of the Sun already had some of Autonomy's Investiture and that's why Bavadin settled there. I wonder if Autonomy has also Invested the smaller blue supergiant (I'm assuming that's what it is, rather than a white dwarf or a neutron star, seriously that would be too much). Edit: it was a white dwarf, I was wondering where I was remembering that from but it was mentioned in the AU I'm also liking the idea of the moon, Nizh Da, reflecting Investiture along with light. Also, can Autonomy increase the lifespan of her what looks like a blue supergiant which have a much lower lifespan than a yellow dwarf star like our sun (though it's a giant among yellow dwarf stars) or a red dwarf star.

Actually, that seems narratively plausible, and could be the device used to show Shallan's past before she killed her mother.
-
I mean, your Spiritweb is Investiture, as is your Cognitive. There's a certain sword... But even the Lord Ruler couldn't do that, so probably not
-
I think it's probably like what Dancer said. Also Brandon's previously stated that one could Duralumin burst other Cosmere powers: I think you could Nicroburst a Feruchemist's metalmind if they were tapping at that time, rather than storing or doing neither.

That page is outdated, the new version should be linked near the latest posts on that topic. Edit: here I mentioned it on Discord, as we forgot to notify anyone when we finished creating the new page -

There are two figures on the cover, a human with a crab flag, and another at the back, below the Highstorm, on the opposite side of the cliff- that one's Eshonai, but the human figure was thought to be Dalinar, but the artist is saying otherwise.

Random Mythwalker Thoughts
Honorless replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Sanderson Curiosities & Unpublished Works
That seemed to have been the implication at the end of HoA, but I was referring to his story from being Vershad to trying to remember he was human -
No you can't, aluminum resists Investiture across the whole Cosmere, not just Scadrial and Roshar, you can't Awaken it on Nalthis either
-
Can you Duralumin burst aluminium? I mean it would be difficult as the aluminium would probably be looking to metabolize the duralumin anyway but can you even duralumin burst aluminium in the first place? What about Nicroburst touching an Allomancer, Mistborn or Misting, burning aluminum? Can you use chromium to leech someone's aluminium?
-
In Oathbringer, we see aluminium walls can hide the use of some Surges from the alerter Voidspren. We also know that it's very difficult to Soulcast aluminium. Burning aluminium might remove all inhaled Stormlight, hopefully not damage the Nahel Bond.

A strange similarity between two Cosmere substances
Honorless replied to Honorless's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Good point, also a super interesting WoB if anyone's interested: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/372/#e11949 . Though the situation might be a bit different on Sel with the Dor. Does it have to be metal? It tends towards being metallic, but we don't have confirmation that Physical manifestation of Investiture has to be metallic some people also speculate that the Tears of Edgli might be a Physical manifestation of Endowment It is very hard to Invest an already Invested object with foreign Investiture, but what about using their natural Investiture systems? Hemalurgic spikes made of Atium and Lerasium supposedly work, Atium metalminds are confirmed in-book to work. Forgery is a natural manifestation of Investiture arts from the Dor, so it shouldn't resist being Invested by one of the very things its naturally inclined to fuel. Again, assuming that it is a Godmetal analogue, it would be really embarrassing if it's just a natural substance like Ralkalest (aluminium) -
Realmatics: Cognitive shadows and the Kelsier example
Honorless replied to Dalinar'sCroissant's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Maybe? The only thing we've seen in-book as a result of faith in Kelsier, though in this particular case it was closer to hero worship than Hero-God worship, was him being able to use the Connection to communicate. We don't know one way or another, nor do we have much to go on off of.
