@Vapor and @Mist! I love you guys! I've been missing you, Mist, and will continue. It's always so fun when I see you on and can say hello! Vapor, you're definitely a lot closer to me than Mist physically (hah we share a room) so obviously I don't miss you, but I'm so glad we can be here to support each other at the same time as we fight. Happy Shardiversary, V! I was definitely on first.

Ok, I've a few real updates to my status, I shall present them in chronological order.

1. I got a 1470 on the PSAT, meaning that I have a pretty good chance of being at least an NMS semifinalist
2. finals week is next week
3. I have three real finals out of seven classes, but one of those will go into next semester's gradebook, so does it really count?
4. I pulled a big brain today: due to possibly being absent from school tomorrow (see item 6 on this list), I convinced my biology teacher to let me take the unit test/pseudofinal during the thursday after school class/lab thing, meaning that if I can't go to school tomorrow, no harm done. BUT (here's the big brain part) if I am at school during bio, I'll have already done the test and therefore will be able to read. I essentially skipped a boring review lab and replaced it with book.
5. I finished my world myth final story thing, and I think it is a solid "good enough," though I have time to improve it next week if it isn't.
6. I take my driver's test tomorrow, so by the end of the day, I'll hopefully have a driver's license

The shards Calendar is slightly off so it's less than that, but still!

Two-sentence horror story competition at my local library. I'd like to challenge y'all. Here's mine:

Inktober! For those who don't know, I've decided to do three of the Cosmere Inktober prompts a week, so here are the arts for week one! (Also, side note: this is my first ever status update in my over a year on the shard, and I can't tell if that's sad or impressive). Non-RoW Cosmere spoilers for all.

A few things:

• Anyone want more RightingWrites? I can make a whole bunch more (currently thinking about Soft Worldbuilding and Static Characters), but if nobody's interested then I prolly won't.
• Would anyone be interested in a Fadran Inktober thread? My powers of arting have grown, and now the stuff I draw isn't actually super cringy or disgusting! It certainly isn't good, but it isn't terrible either.
• How many of y'all would want pics of Fadran dressed up as Roy Mustang? I'd just be DMing it to the people I know.
• And please please please please please consider me to talk to if you need to talk to somebody. All my Shardbuddies seem to be very sad and I don't like it when my friends are sad. If something's happened or you're just concerned, then I'm on the Shard way too often and should be available most of the time.

Happy Birthday!!!!! It’s a few hours early, but so is the Shard’s birthday list

I have been a member of the Shard for 3 years (and 16 days). This place has been so fun, it seems like just yesterday that I joined, but it also feels like I’ve been here forever. Without further ado: appreciations!

Mods, though none of you will read this (except Ene, who is listed separately), I would like to thank you for keeping this community one of the most inclusive, friendly, and wholesome ones I’ve seen.

@AonEne, you were one of the first (if not *the* first) Shardbuddies I had. I’m soooo glad I got to meet you this summer. I can’t really words about how much your friendship means to me. I have yet to drink from the bottle of dubious soda.

@Tesh, you’re too interesting and funny for your own good. No matter how tired I am, I will stay up to talk to you. Meeting you was awesome and it WILL happen again. Sneezing isn’t normal.

@Butt Ad Venture, I would also stay up talking to you if it weren’t for the fact that both of us would just be yelling at each other to sleep :P.

THE TRAILER'S OUT I'M SO HECKIN' HYPED AHHHHHHHH

School starts in two days. It hasn't started yet. 

AND I'M ALREADY GETTING EMAILS ABOUT ASSIGNMENTS. WHAT THE STORMS. 

Anyways, my English class made me read 1984 over the summer. I'm probably going to have to write a bunch of essays on it. But it was really good. I liked it a lot.

It also gave me nightmares

Ironically, the nightmares were all about writing essays. I've had multiple dreams where I was forced to write essays for the Party, and if I wrote something wrong, they arrested me. This might be a metaphor for my dread about the approaching English assignments, but that's just a guess. It's definitely not a sign of me going insane. Nope. 

WAIT. I JUST REMEMBERED. Since I'm already mentioning weird dreams, I had the weirdest dream a while ago. Basically, I went to a taco restaurant, and the main character of my fantasy novel (Vashkril) was over there too. He and his group of friends were eating at a table. Then they invited me to eat with them. Well, umm, the entire dream was just Vashkril becoming increasingly suspicious that I was the writer who wrote his tragic backstory. Every other character was oblivious. It was terrifying, though. He sat there eating a taco and glaring at me the whole time. He was trying to interrogate me like, "Are you sure I've never met you? You seem really familiar."

So, yes. Treat your characters nicely. Otherwise they show up in your dreams and threaten you. 

Okay. That's it. This was all over the place. It was supposed to be only the first two lines about assignments, but then I got carried away.

Last night I started reading Ready Player One.

It's currently in first place for "fastest reader hooks" that I've ever read, up there with the Hunger Games and friggin' To Kill a Mockingbird.

I was up 'til nearly midnight, telling myself "just one more chapter" about seven times. Eventually I forced myself to put it down.

So if I'm not super active on the Shard for a day or two... well now you know why
