  1. Except that crem existed before Cultivation arrived, meaning that it cannot be her manifestation.
  2. There wasn't a discussion on the matter. You all can go to Damnation for carrying this line on.
  3. I doubt this. It seems unlikely that he always has brass swallowed to burn, as shown in the flashback where he has to pour some into his cup first. As most of his remarks seem fairly spontaneous, I don't think he planned ahead with some brass. I think the more likely case is that Jasnah knows he knows more about the bigger picture, but also knows that he won't really give much of an answer to it if she asks. The way their conversation went seems that she is completely aware he is far more than he seems. Finally, I don't see why Hoid would want to use allomancy to sidestep the questions. He seems to have great fun out of trivalizing important questions asked of him, so I don't see why he would go out of his way to remove another opportunity to do that.
  4. Interesting. This does feel like it supports my sentiment that the honorblades grant surgebinding through a hack of the system.
  5. The first error should've been a comma, not a sentence break. "Also" should not start a sentence. The second error is a common fault of mine, I usually screw up words which sound the same because of how I plan it out mentally. Finally, there's nothing ironic about the fact that I made grammar errors when talking about the fact that grammar checkers aren't perfect. What would be ironic is if I had said grammar checkers are perfect, had run my response through a grammar checker, and there had still been errors.
  6. Have you ever considered.... Murder?
  7. They meant that his patron was trusting enough to loan the shardblade and allow Helaran to bond it. It would still be on loan as it wouldn't be his, but not in the regular sense of loaning shardblades.
  8. His opponent tapped the gem to unbond it. The gem glowed briefly to show this.
  9. Yeah. I'm just wondering if there are more long term goals.
  10. Yeah, I know what it's referencing. But the fact is that the people did really questionable things. It makes me wonder if there is going to be some backlash because if what Dalinar did. Also makes me wonder whether Hoid is aware or just was dropping a random story.
  11. That has disturbing implications.
  12. Unfortunately that's just religious scriptures. It's specifically said that the God King is just a returned infant that the priests pretend is the child of the previous God King. While it is possible for returned to bear children, and chances are that those children are not returned as indicated by the Idris royal family, the priests have not managed to make that happen yet, nor have they tried very hard. So as I said before, this is founded on false premises, making it therefore invalid. The 27 returned are the 25 you listed plus the God King which is a regular returned just with a lot more breath, and the infant returned the priests are grooming to be the next God King. This is just in the vicinity of Halladren too. The previous God Kings are still alive and retired to a retreat managed by the priests, as the story that they sacrifice themselves is just as false, as the ability to heal multiple people is in fact outside of their power as their divine breath is the same as all the other returned, and able to only heal one person. Furthermore, there is also the fact that there at least three other returned running around: Vasher, VanTreledees (Denth), and Yesteel, bringing the known total of returned existing at one time to 30. Now I'm lazy, so I'm not going to get the specific passages from the book or annotations which support my argument that the God King is just a regular returned unless you ask me to. Additionally, you haven't addressed any other point I've made to that remark. Now for the rest of your points. And I'm presenting a possible reason why there's a lower number. It makes sense when you consider the fact that manifestations of investiture occur as a result of a shard investing into a planet, influenced by both the nature of the shard and the nature of the planet. This is a known fact. I have no idea what you're referencing here. I don't see how you're reaching this conclusion. Are you somehow tying the numbers of the planets to the existence of shards and their ability to invest into it? There is nothing to indicate, nor has anyone said anything towards it, that the numbers of the planet are somehow dependent on the shards. Now this argument is just seriously flimsy. Don't need to go back to it since I've never left it. Also, I think I've done a lot of thinking on the matter considering I actually know what I'm talking about. I think I've come up with at least one other reason. True, it could have some significance. However, it doesn't mean it has to have significance towards this case when every other piece of evidence in the same vein that you've provided is either tenuous or incorrect. Also, don't doublepost. There's an edit button. Use it. I am impressed though that you managed to pick out the fact that they mentioned that there are 25 returned gods in Halladren currently but missed the exposition conversation where they go over the fact that the God King isn't actually a stillborn heir to the previous God King.
  13. Spell checkers don't catch everything also you shouldn't trust them to which is why they need to go over it manually anyways. Also, the check is also to make sure their aren't any last-minute tweaks to fix as well as any sections to cut if need be.
  14. You need at least one other case to make a pattern, and that's still a stretch. I wouldn't call something a pattern unless you have three items. Also, as you say, there are actually 26 Returned since the God King isnt actuslly any more special than the other returned. So the square root pattern just falls apart. I doubt Endowment would start making patterns just to match people's belief system. Also, there was a perfectly rational explanation for why no Returned has died so you're going to have to make a case for how Endowment is affecting their decision to not heal people as well. Additionally, there are known to be 27 Returned at that time around Halladren as there is also the baby returned which is to be the next God King so there clearly isn't a limit on the creation of Returned. Overall, you're going to have to come up with more substantial arguments. Furthermore, I'm not seeing a reason why you have to inject all this extra complexity into the system when most of what we've seen can be more easily explained by the numbers being associated with the planets.
  15. I thought of that. However, that would still mean it's possible, and a reverse lashing would still cause light things lying on the ground nearby to move, so there would be some cause. Furthermore, don't you think that if a negative pressure point was being created, people would've noticed the drop in pressure, such as wind, along with a suction of hair and clothes? Like Kaladin has long hair and he's reversed lashed something right next to his head and not noticed a thing amiss. Szeth as well notes nothing strange like a tugging of his robes towards the door frame which he applied a reverse lashing to, and i would think that a negative pressure able to deviate the flight of spears a short distancr would havr that effect. Furthermore in general, it would be very easy to prove that pressure isn't the cause of the reverse lashing, for above reasons and others, such as where the removed air needed to lower isn't being noticed as having left the area either, that I doubt a Khriss would've missed it. While real physics obviously couldn't explain how a reverse lashing works, just like it couldn't explain how a basic lashing works, realmatics do provide an explanation. You can't attempt to use classical physics to explain the realmatics of magic, only the outcomes of physical changes. While the idea of manipulating something's spiritual connection to a gravitational center sounds weird, I don't see how it is any weirder than changing your connection in order to speak the language of the land you're currently in. Overall, I don't agree with the theory, though it is quite interesting. There has been nothing to indicate that any sort of pressure change is occurring when a reverse lashing is in effect, and that would be very easy to qualify. While realmatic explanation does feel wishy-washy so far, I have no doubt that it will make more sense once we learn more about spiritual realmatics. Furthermore, I see no reason to disqualify it, as well it is not absolute knowledge, it is from a source which is knownot to be quite accurate, and disqualifying on that ground alone doesn't look the be acceptable.
  16. You broke your own argument down. If Nightblood could awaken with mental commands then it can awaken with its breath, just like how Susebron could awaken with his breaths at the Tenth heightening without speaking, but was unable to because he lacked the know-how. The answer seems to be directly stating that Nightblood is unable to awaken, even if you took the time to teach it, and you can teach someone to awaken even if they can only use mental commands, as that's how the previous God Kings based on their breath. Therefore, it doesn't seem to be overthinking on our parts; there has to be some deeper meaning as to why Nightblood can't even awaken. Also, I'm hesitant to certainly say that actual physical vocalization is necessary for awakening.
  17. Interesting theory. How do you explain then that objects touching the ground aren't affected by a reverse lashing though, which the gravitational surge theory does?
  18. Consider the amount of investiture required to make someone able to prevent a shardblade from cutting them, and consider the fact that a human body holding a significant amount of investiture exhibits signs as the investiture leaks from the body due to body being a poor vessel It seems likely then that Hoid doesn't hold enough investiture to block a shardblade directly as he exhibits none of these signs. Furthermore, it has been implied in a WoB that Hoid's soul can be cut by a shardblade.
  19. Yeah, that makes the most sense. Also, I wonder if Nightblood would consume any Breaths held when drawn. I imagine it would.
  20. The reason why Returned can awaken is probably because they're based from human bodies. Since the spiritwebs of the original host is preserved when they're a cognitive shadow I think, it makes sense that they would still be able to awaken, since the necessary sDNA is still in the Returned. On the other hand, since Nightblood doesn't have the requisite sDNA since it was made from a non-human base, there's no reason it would possesses the power to awaken unless it is somehow added. On the other hand though, anything which gains breath can awaken, so what is preventing Nightblood? I doubt it's something unique to just humans.
  21. We have confirmation that the Honorblades are direct pieces of Honor's power. The question then is whether they're sentient or not. Judging by their usage and other descriptions, I would say that they're not, in which case they wouldn't be spren. Bond can also just be referring to the bond the Honorblade forms with its holder.
  22. The Oathpact wasn't actually broken. Otherwise, that was going to be my post as well.
  23. Hoid wasn't afraid because he has regeneration powers.
  24. There's a recent WoB which states that the Honorblades granted the Heralds direct access to Honor's power. I'm guessing that with the weakening of the Oathpact and the splintering of Honor, that conduit has been sundered in part.
  25. I thought Lift was at her second ideal and Shallan basically got her shardblade from the start when she was a kid. Anyhow, that WoB shows me to be wrong, so that doesn't really matter.
