So why exactly is Nightblood so stupendously overpowered?
Jondesu replied to kroen's topic in Warbreaker
That's how it works in light, but when dealing with pigments and dyes, white is the absence of color. jW -
Absolutely my mind could turn that into a fear of sneezing. Ask a psychiatrist about fears sometimes. They can come out of the craziest things. Couple that with a interdimensional being who amplifies any existing fear you have into a major phobia and you've got a recipe for an Epic weakness. jW

Maybe when she was younger she was hiding from someone out to hurt her, and a sneeze gave her away (or almost did). I can definitely see that becoming a major fear of sneezing that became her Epic weakness. jW

I always say it more like "Ay-oh-nuh", but yours actually makes more sense with the way I say Aon: "Ay-ahn". (Disclaimer: I don't really know how to do phonetics, but that's my best attempts for each of those.) jW

Isn't Duralumin an aluminum alloy? Obviously that can't be true if so. jW

Remember, the only reason they were so effective was that they had an insanely large supply of atium and were swallowing all they could fit in their stomachs, basically. Usually a Mistborn had maybe a minute of Atium available to them, often less. As to bullets against Shardplate, I'm still suspecting they would only prove somewhat effective, but I'm sure something like a machine gun would be a decent option. Most pistols wouldn't get through it without repeated hits in the same place, I'd bet, if nothing else due to the magical mechanics in place that seem to prevent anything going through and killing in one blow, with the only exception being Szeth driving the highly invested Honorblade through, using multiple lashings to achieve that. We don't even know if the same trick would work with a Shardblade instead. jW

I know Brandon has said that not all Shards have such perfect opposites as Ruin and Preservation. Odium may not have a direct opposite, then, like perhaps a Friendship Shard, but instead would be opposed by multiple others, none of whom were completely opposed in every way. jW

Other Possible uses for Soulstamps?
Jondesu replied to Atkion's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
You don't have to actually make them make those bad decisions, though. That's the beauty of Forgery. You can simply (relatively speaking) stamp them and they'll experience what life is like if they had made those choices.Of course, I'm not really convinced how well that would work out anyways, but it's intriguing. Edit: I wonder if you could stamp someone into having a disease like cancer or AIDS or even diabetes? Diabolical if so. jW- 37 replies

I'm sorry, I see this a lot, and I just don't get it. A Mistborn with atium would be able to survive against a Shardblade longer than otherwise, but actually delivering a killing blow would be very tough. The same fragility means they don't have a lot of options against armor, especially since there are very few armored targets they would have ever faced beyond leather and wooden shields. Sure, a Mistborn wouldn't get destroyed by a Shardbearer quickly either, and could easily escape, but destroy the Shardbearer (especially if they're a Radiant, but even if not)? Not easily. jW

Yep, I can get lots of books through my library and read them on my Kindle or on my iPad/iPhone. Pretty slick (I have Firefight checked out for my wife right now). jW

I don't know much about Dr Strange except that he deals in magic rather than scientifically explained superpowers (however loosely those have been explained sometimes). I'm excited, though, beyond the fact that Cucumberpatch is a great actor, since it'll be a very different type of superhero movie, I imagine. Should be cool to see how it ties into the others as well. jW

Nothing Hrathen does is just for show?
Jondesu replied to Mason Wheeler's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Those were to accomplish a purpose though. Just for show would imply they were only showing off for the sake of showing off. Hrathen was trying to convert all of Arelon using those fake miracles. jW -
Do we know how Obliteration chooses where he teleports to? If he could figure that out, something like that would be very feasible. For instance, spoilers for Agents of SHIELD: jW

Do we know that there's a connection between green areas and fertile crops? I don't think we can assume that, since rockbuds are one of the main crops and I didn't think they were green. I suspect all of those areas can grow crops, just likely not green ones (only Shinovar would have any significant amount of grass that was always visible anyways). jW

spoilers Gavilar's Black Sphere Identity
Jondesu replied to Drakonstrong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Good news: that quote has been confirmed to not be about the sphere. It's a reference to Topaz, a name Hoid once went by (itself a reference to a large gem he wore, I understand). jW- 44 replies

That could easily just be bronze, though, which we know they're good with. Kel may have just been using Allomancy to get his attention. jW

It's a cut gem, so not like the ones in the Parshendi's beards, probably just symbolic but it's hard to say. As for the lady, she's a Vorin woman (safehand is covered), so probably not Cultivation. Again, possibly just symbolic of scholars, who put these charts together, or perhaps some well known Vorin woman involved in this in some way. jW

The Everstorm is new, though. We don't know how it happened in the past, though Jasnah does I think, but the Everstorm didn't transform the Parshendi in previous desolations. jW

Why block? Spin through, shearing legs, arms, etc and just killing parts or all of each koloss. I can't see koloss being much of a threat to Shardbearers except after wearing them down. jW

I don't see the Allomancer themselves being invested. In my mind, the power just moves through them as they burn the metal instead. Of course, that still probably means you're right about it not really fitting this list. jW

I added a couple in bold if it worked on mobile. I feel like Channeling the Dor was used too, but I'm not sure on that. jW

Uses for Feruchemical and Allomantic Abilities
Jondesu replied to The_Dark_Fungi's topic in Mistborn
The problem with that scenario is that objects are either in a bubble or not, never halfway. The entire car will be in or out. It could still be very useful to slow them compared to the outside. The police could have time to set up spike strips, barriers, etc, that the fleeing car could never avoid in time once the bubble dropped. jW
