That was a bit of an unusual situation, to be fair. Not saying it's not possible elsewhere, but it doesn't go well for the Shardholder doing the attacking either. We're not sure exactly what would have happened after that either, had the events in that story not transpired as they did. jW

Yeah, there are a number of lesser Shardworlds like the ones from Sixth of the Dust and Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (I forget the names of the first, the second is Threnody). They don't have a Shard on them (at least currently), and we're not really sure if the magics there are naturally arisen without Shardic influence, or if a Shard or Shards is affecting those without being present. I would bet there's quite a few other planets we haven't seen yet, and probably some we'll never see (but will find out exist). jW

That's actually terrifying. Considering they can store individual senses, I wouldn't find it shocking if someone figured out how to store the strength from one part of their body, though I'd actually find it more likely if they figured out how to store different types of strength somehow (not really sure what that would look like, spitballing here as I type). I think even with that, it would be hard to reach the point of being a savant with Feruchemy alone, since it requires you to store as much as you use. With compounding, of course, it could be easily doable in theory. jW

Hmm, good point, I forgot about that. Maybe if was stylized in a way that changed the meaning of the glyph? jW

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Jondesu replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
That's not what the Nightwatcher thinks you deserve. Instead, you get the boon of being able to to sense when others are thinking about you. Your bane is that you now hear everything as if you're underwater. It's understandable, but you have to focus to piece it together. (Can we have fewer granted wishes? Remember, that's not really how it works.) I wish I could understand the speech of babies. -
Adolin can read glyph. That's a basic necessity on the battlefield where the banners were showing glyphs, and the catalog he was shown looking through had glyphs I believe. Most if not all men read glyphs, just not true writing (women's script). jW

Interestingly, I believe I remember a WoB saying it could be possible to That could change all of our assumptions about what happened. jW

Wait, is that The Catfish Place that's in Apopka? I live not far from there and I've had gator there too. jW

It would be awesome to get confirmation from Brandon on that, but in my understanding, I would think that that would be definitely possible with Feruchemy, as opposed to Allomancy. It is definitely capable of storing individual traits, and the way the person views those Cognitively should affect what exactly is stored (much like with the metal lines and the way the objects are perceived). jW

That's the rumor I heard for why Thor and Hulk won't be involved. They're off dealing with Ragnarok. jW

I seriously doubt the Stormfather would be concerned, though, so Dalinar's status as a Radiant isn't likely in jeopardy (which is the part of the debate I was connecting this to). Sure, could cause all kinds of problems for the Radiants from the Alethi, but Dalinar's Bondsmith status is probably going to be fine. jW

Actually, considering that particular Highprince was actively involved in trying to split up and destroy Highprinces so that he could claim power for himself, I think the Stormfather might be just fine with that. We'll see. jW

Was the other Shard Odium is confirmed to have splintered alone on its Shardworld, or was it also on a world with 2 Shards? jW

Copied from another thread: I thought it'd be relevant here too. jW

Was Odium targeting planets with 2 Shards?
Jondesu replied to IndigoAjah's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Odium's mandate is hatred, right? What if he visits worlds that have two shards because he can turn them against each other using that hatred? He might have been behind the intense hatred between Shu-Korathi and Shu-Derethi in that case, and have tried to use the same tactic on Roshar, but failed to splinter them both because of Honor and Cultivations respect and relationship (Honor sacrificing himself to protect Cultivation perhaps)? jW -
Ouch, lack of proofreading and autocorrect can be painful. Naming a fabrial would be awesome though. :-P jW

I think a true author is simply someone who tells a story. There are then good authors and bad authors, but the only ones who aren't truly authors are the ones who don't tell a story (their own or someone else's, real or fictional). jW

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Jondesu replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
I'm currently laying in bed exhausted after a difficult day...cleaning the receipts off my dresser and choosing which shirts to get rid of. Yeah, my chest started to hurt and I couldn't stay upright from that (I've had a full heart work up, this is fatigue from antiviral medications and maybe something else). This is on top of the continuing headache I posted about before, abdominal pain we're investigating, and digestive problems that have been my life for the past 14 years or so. jW -
Answered. :-) jW

Thanks for the quotes, blows my theory out of the water. :-P jW

New WoB: Roshar’s Three (Plus) Magic Systems

I thought Brandon had confirmed there was no magic involved in the Oathstone. I'm on my phone so I can't search right now. jW- 12 replies

Hah, I've always had the same thought. I understand the reasoning, like you said, and in a few things I've read it's been explained somewhat (people have unique names because they're named based on something personal and unique), but even that approach falls flat. It's just literary convention that bugs me, but does definitely make it easier to follow the story usually. Heck, I don't think there's even another David in Reckoners, and that's an insanely common first name. jW
