  1. The Stormfather wanted it to happen there and to destroy the Alethi armies, in his grief/insanity/anger. While I expect he's relented somewhat now considering he's bonded Dalinar, there's no guarantee of course. jW
  2. Healing is talked about quite a bit too. I don't remember others now, but I'm sure other members here will. :-) jW
  3. Just looked for it and found this: From here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/?section=findpost&pid=337201Best I can find now. jW
  4. There's a WoB that the gemstone is a reference to Topaz, a name Hoid/Wit once went by.Edit: Welcome to the boards! Like I did, you'll have a lot of catching up to do probably, so read around, ask questions, etc. :-) jW
  5. Fair point. The fact that he's not destroying the same thing he's trying to preserve could impact that though. It's a lot different from destroying some on or in Scadrial to try to improve or preserve it. jW
  6. I've been looking forward to this day for a long time: I'm headed down to the store to pick up my new 27" iMac. :-D We've been plugging along with a 2007 model, which is getting slower and slower despite my best efforts (and I'm very good with computers). I've rarely been able to have new anything, so this is a big thrill. jW
  7. Seems to me that red would be more hateful too, than dark. jW
  8. I think we should ask Brandon sometime (if it hasn't yet been asked), but I certainly got the impression they couldn't, again mostly based on Spook. Hard to be sure? But I would figure he'd have had at least one chance before to see a small reserve of some other metal before he got the spike. jW
  9. I think he was assuming they would be useful as fuelers for the medallions. Put Allomantic Aluminum power into it, get it to touch their skin and somehow force them to use it. Dunno how practical that would be, tough to actually use effectively. Leeches with Ettmetal cubes, though, we've already seen how devastating that could be. Nicrobursts could be just as bad, actually. jW
  10. Actually, while interfering in Scadrial's development even to protect seems hard for him, I can definitely see protecting them from an outside attacker (particularly one they would be incapable of fighting on their own) being well aligned. He can preserve the Scadrians while ruining another Shard/attacker. I don't know for sure if that's how it would play out, but I can see how the argument could be very compellingly made that he could very well reconcile his Intents and bring all kinds of pain against another Shard making a direct attack. jW
  11. It doesn't seem mistings can even see the other metals as reserves to burn. It doesn't make them sick (except normal poisoning depending on the meta maybe), they just can't even try to burn it, from what I can tell. I'm assuming some of this largely on Spook's experience, since he never detected any second reserves until he got spiked, and I'm sure he would have at least had some trace metals at some point. jW
  12. I just got my Blu-ray, DVD, Digital combo pack. Haven't watched it again yet (saw it 3 times in theater), but I will be soon. jW
  13. Coinshots and Lurchers can't use Duralumin though. They'd need Mistborn for that, which don't exist in current Scadrial. jW
  14. Do you really want to eat chull heads, though?I'd still probably pick the peaks though, or maybe Shinovar. We don't know quite enough about their culture though. jW
  15. There's a WoB, but I suck at finding them. We don't know if he's a full Feruchemist or just a Luck Ferring though, I don't think. jW
  16. It'll only grant that ability in the right bind point(s?), but I suspect it would act as a Hemalurgic spike in terms of The Flaw regardless. We don't know for sure I don't think, though, lacking any examples. jW
  17. Just put (spoiler) at the beginning, and (/spoiler) at the end, but replace the () with [] square brackets, like with the quote tags. :-) jW
  18. Nice! jW
  19. No, I didn't actually find a Nightblood necklace or Feruchemical rings. I did like these necklaces that I found at Target, though. :-) jW
  20. I was actually pretty sure I heard it mentioned that no one had bothered doing anything with the bodies of the dead Parshendi, in a conversation with Dalinar or someone (but I may be mixing that up with the greatshells). Even the Parshmen bury their own dead, and it's about the only thing they actually seem to care about without instruction from someone else. jW
  21. Nice quiz! I like it, and it gave me a very different result from the other one: jW
  22. If you had tons of power, I bet you'd want to do something with it to, if for no other reason than to figure out what you can do, and investing in a planet seems to be the most effective method for them (in addition to lining up with the intents). I wonder if that Shard or a different one could be Jealousy. God's righteous jealousy is a huge theme in the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, and we know Brandon bases some of this on those attributes. Jealousy separated from the other attributes/mandates of God would be a dangerous thing, though, and a likely partner for Odium (though one just as willing to stab Odium in the back as Odium would be to stab it in the back). jW
  23. There is. Atium spikes can apparently steal any ability, instead of needing to match up the right metal for a particular ability. jW
