I've seen the WoB I assume you're thinking of as well, and I remember thinking the same, that it was very clear about that. The only thing I can assume is that either the previous WoB wasn't as clear as we thought, or that Brandon misunderstood or has changed his mind. jW

I had seen the link on Facebook but hadn't watched the video yet. He definitely doesn't understand some of the finer points of both, but it's a cool breakdown. On the sword cutting yourself: I tend to agree with his basic conclusion. A dead Shardblade would cut anything, though it has the advantage of not cutting you if you drop it, since it would instead disappear. A living Shardblade, well the spren would likely change it's size or change into a different shape to avoid cutting you, or simply dismiss itself, or possibly even somehow just not cut you. Not sure without examples of course, but I think I agree with his conclusion there. jW

The texts and WoBs indicate there's likely spren that are of Honor, Cultivation, Odium (the unmade), and Adolnasium it/himself. Not all Spren, or even all Radiant Spren, are of Honor.jW

Agreed. Living Shardplate, controlled by the Radiant's desires (whether it's lesser spren or a Cognitive creation), can also do things dead Shardplate cannot, like having the helm disappear and reappear at will as Dalinar witnessed. It's very likely it could change shape to meet the needs of a situation as well, although we haven't seen proof of that of course. My main argument for this, I think, is the fact that they're all different, but I do admit the same is true of the Shardblades too, reflecting the individuality of the spren and knights. I don't see lesser spren having the same individuality, though: all windspren look alike, all rainspren, etc, varying only in size. The only exception I can think of is creationspren, but they're taking on the form of things around them, and they still all behave in the same way. Lesser spren don't seem to have distinctions that would lead to such different sets of plate. jW

Yep, he's sketching bridgemen. I think he's said to have been part of bringing Jasnah's chest up from the shipwreck, though that may have changed. jW

Yeah, that's the weakest point in this argument probably, Argent. That said, I pictured them being able to do it in much the same way that the Spren are able to do this. By being more in the Cognitive, their minds can conceive of something and bring it into being, manifesting then in the Physical. It would be in effect similar to Soulcasting, except strictly by turning Stormlight into Shardplate. It also helps explain the way the armor changes at will during Dalinar's flashbacks, and why every set looks different. jW

I've been a proponent of the lesser spren forming Shardplate theory for a while, but one of the threads about that got me thinking about Shardplate from a different perspective. A Spren is primarily a cognitive being, with some physical presence usually of course, but the Nahel bond allows Radiant spren to enter more fully into the Physical realm and interact with it in ways they couldn't before. This eventually leads to them being able to form into a Shardblade as we've seen with Syl and Pattern (and we assume Ivory as well). Humans, on the other hand, are primarily Physical (in terms of how they interact with the world), so is it possible the Nahel bond allows them to gain more presence in the Cognitive realm, and then as a result of that, grow their own Shardplate, manifesting it like the spren manifest as Shardblades? In that case, it would stem from their Stormlight, but not need lesser spren nor any other source. When the Radiants broke their Nahel bonds in the Recreance, their presence in the Cognitive would have been severed and reverted to their previous state, so the Shardplate they were wearing at the time would have been severed from them as well, remaining permanently manifested but requiring Stormlight from gems to function and regrow, since it could no longer be replenished using the Knight's own Stormlight. Thoughts?

How would that be a misunderstanding, though? He knows that it allows that, even if he hasn't put together that scale. More likely, if it's indeed Aon Tia that he misunderstood, it could allow one to teleport into the Cognitive Realm somehow, or else it's a different Aon that will allow something along those lines. jW

I would expect it's more just altering their connection to gravity in some way, so it would probably match up with any planet it's used on. Hard to say without examples of course. jW

The two people were Khriss and Nazh, who are collecting information about the Cosmere and its worlds, magic, etc. Khriss writes the Ars Arcanum at the ends of each book, while Nazh does many of the drawings we see. jW

Even more than that, I suspect aiming from his chest has become innate, due to seeing those lines all the time as he burns steel. I suspect he often burns it without pushing, since we've seen him do that to look for sources of metal. It's probably as natural now as aiming with his eyes down a gun barrel.jW

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Jondesu replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
You instead gain the ability to bend and contort your body, but are not granted fighting skills. You'll have to learn those on your own, though it may be easier now. Your bane is now to see the world in ultraviolet, including near-blinding light coming from things other people would be unable to see at all. I wish to be exactly the same as I am now. jW -
Yeah, he's walking down the hallway and sucks the light from the spheres before he summons the blade, IIRC. No time to check now, but I'm pretty sure that's one instance. jW

I wonder if she was really only reporting back on Sarene's health and safety basically. That wouldn't even be considered treasonous, but since Sarene and probably the king wouldn't like that, they still kept it a secret. jW

Unless you mean gaining the abilities for the first time, we've seen Szeth use Surgebinding without summoning the blade. If you mean initially, then yeah, it would appear that's a result of bonding with an Honorblade, but of course we can't be sure just yet. jW

Incipient means to be in the initial or beginning stage. Older and not oft used term.Weltall, I'm not completely convinced by that wording. It's sounds to me like past tense, meaning they previously followed Nale, but another group could actually be following him now, in his madness. Could go either way really. Thanks for posting it! jW

Did you inform them so they could sell more of his books in the future? :-P Nice find, though. If it's allowed, can you post the bit that says that so we can see the wording? jW

I was thinking there wasn't really anywhere to travel to before the Shards set up shop, but that's actually not true (Roshar at least appears to have been inhabited prior), so that's a good point. I knew he was similar in age, if not older. jW

Maybe the Shard is "Protection" or even "Wisdom", preparing a haven for Worldhoppers. I love this idea, whether there's no physical corresponding location, or if it's just not an actual world. jW

I have to say that I kinda liked the political conflict stuff, and I think it would actually make sense to include a fair bit of that in the TV show, considering how well that kind of stuff has been received in shows like Game of Thrones (though we all know it's not the main attraction, it can still be quite compelling if done right). I like your overall breakdown of how it could progress, though, Pagerunner. jW

Captain America Iron Man Spiderman Vision Ant-Man Hawkeye Scarlet Witch Winter Soldier War Machine Black Panther I think those should all count as superheroes, but I could replace Winter Soldier with Superman and Hawkeye with Wonder Woman if you only want superpowers (I'm assuming technological superpowers like Iron Man and Ant-Man count, though, even if you don't quite count Batman). Name 10 countries where coffee beans are grown and coffee is produced. jW

He's said that he likes the fact that people pronounce things in their own way, though, one of the fun things about having written words instead of a TV show/movie where the pronunciations are given to you. jW

If you don't count the Shardholders, I assume? I would guess not, but an answer from Brandon could be quite illuminating (even a RAFO, maybe). jW

Yup. That's what I do, customer facing support for a...very large computer company. Fortunately I'm in the chat support side now, where they can't actually yell at us, but they sure did on the phone, and it's very rare for them to even attempt to be professional. It's scary sometimes, especially some of the international ones. jW
