Love it! I think I may have accidentally down voted instead of upvoted, btw, if someone can fix that. We've seen a magic system that came from the interaction of opposing Shards before (Feruchemy, the balance of Ruin and Preservation), but it makes sense that with two very complementary Shards, we might get a single magic systems that works with the power from both Shards. It might not even have been intentional on Aona and Skai's parts, just a natural result of their relationship and the compatibility of the Shards they held. jW

Agreed, I've been there, even if it's not every day, and it's no small matter. Sanity is something we take for granted usually, but not once you've come close to losing it. jW

Neither of those other methods would have been wrong, or have violated her order's mandates. However, of course, neither did the method she chose, and it had the added benefit of allowing her to provide instruction to Shallan. Interestingly, however, Shallan's order takes a different view it seems, which means Pattern and Shallan both did not care for that particular choice. jW

T'Challa also has some magical strength I believe, which is why he was outrunning Cap when chasing Bucky, and was as effective as he was in the first fight without his suit. Not sure whether they'll explain that or not, but if they do I'm sure it'll be in his movie. jW

My understanding is that Sony relinquished all the creative rights, but kept the rights to distribute all of the prior stuff they'd created, and they may still get some of the profit/royalties. jW

I'll PM you, Delightful, so we don't get this thread game further off track. Speaking of which: Mystery (my train of thought)

That's smarter than what I was suggesting, Nyali, since it's easier to remember. Nice thought.

I'd consider it, though I haven't done a book review in years. jW

Brandon said if Sazed was killed, he'd drop Harmony, so I'd assume if it was splintered, the splinters would be Harmony splinters. jW

Autonomy balancing those might actually be perfect. He might be able to act much more effectively, and I suspect it would keep him from being likely to act in harmful ways, even if his personality becomes subsumed. jW

Currently working on The Hunt for Red October, and I have Dragon and Thief set aside (from Timothy Zahn) next, and I'm also rereading the Eragon series, intending to actually finish it this time. jW

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Jondesu replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
The Nightwatcher has a better grasp of astronomy and tidal dynamics than you, so instead of granting your intended wish, you will now see at least one random stranger driving by your house and mooning you each night. Your name is to hear car horns, bells, and similar sounds as dog barks instead. I wish to have a Nahel bond with a spren of Adolnasium. jW -
Since most sites and software requires caps and symbols, I'd just mix them in between the words where they'll be memorable. If this was to be your password otherwise: whiskytangofoxtrot (which would be a terrible password, but just as an example), make it Whisky!Tango2Foxtrot, if it requires all of those types. Note that the 2 is after the second word, so I'd do that every time I used a number. The alternative is to replace a letter with a number, like replacing A with 4. Just have to do one you'll easily remember, hopefully either consistent among your passwords or that somehow matches the password, to reduce the need to write it down. jW

Oh, I don't doubt it. :-) The assassinations she ordered or carried out could have been to defend herself, though, just in the long-term, at war with this organization. It's not direct, spur of the moment, but it's still self defense (of a less morally sure nature, of course). jW

Rate of Stormlight loss from different gemstones
Jondesu replied to Glubbdrubb's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmm, I wonder. I'd have figured two gems of equal quality and cut would hold it based entirely on the size, but you're right, there might be more to it than that. jW -
There's a WoB that states not all Shards have opposites, and few if any have direct opposites like Ruin and Preservation was. jW

Rate of Stormlight loss from different gemstones
Jondesu replied to Glubbdrubb's topic in Stormlight Archive
I suspect from that WoB that the cut and perfection of the gem are what controls the rate of leakage, but the size does control how much it can hold initially. jW -
Apatosaurus Tyrannosaurus Brachiosaurus Pterodactyl Triceratops Velociraptor Ankylosaurus Diplodocus Stegosaurus Brontosaurus (I think its existence is slightly questionable, so in exchange I could say the ones that have the fan around their neck and spit, but I don't recall their name). Name 10 comic book villains (Marvel, DC, or other sources are all fine) that have not yet been portrayed in movies or TV shows. jW

theory An Possible Explanation for Taravangian's Diagram
Jondesu replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm still of the opinion that it's more of Cultivation than Odium or Honor. I presume that both Honor and Cultivation are responsible for Surgebinding, while the Oathpact and the Heralds are mostly Honor's plan for dealing with Odium. Cultivation may have supported and assisted that plan, or even have been a part of creating it, but I wonder if now she thinks it's folly and has decided to use Taravangian to create a new way through this True Desolation, pruning and cultivating a remnant of humanity instead of honorably standing and fighting, which she might see as suicide. It's exactly the type of action I can see a Shard of Cultivation taking in that situation. Remember, Shards and their intents aren't inherently evil or good, so nothing says that we have to accept what Cultivation does as good. jW -
Eh, they "killed" her after, but that doesn't mean they didn't make the first attempt. Or maybe they sent people to simply steal her research or foul her plans first, and she killed them in self-defense or retaliation. Nothing about that statement, even if it's completely true, necessitates Jasnah having begun the hostilities between them.jW

Rate of Stormlight loss from different gemstones
Jondesu replied to Glubbdrubb's topic in Stormlight Archive
Remember too, Stormlight behaves more like a gas than as light. Placing gems in physical contact might work where the glowyness doesn't. jW -
There's some good speculation in this thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/54349-cognitive-realm-on-sel/#entry441870
