To be fair that is the best solution. Twilight would have been way better if Bella had turned into a supernatural hunter and murdered the other two.

I still like the idea of making it about Charlie. A small-town police chief, still reeling from the news that his longtime friend is a werewolf, must battle for the soul of the town itself when a sinister vampire shows a keen interest in his estranged daughter.

Her true weakness is people that keep track of her weaknesses.

Can i make that sidekick the Metal?

Someone wrote a twilight fic and we got 50 Shades. Anyone want to give this one a shot?

I find it hilarious that Twilight could have been good, if you removed the entire main plot XD

I also have women and cake. Cake because I get a headache if I eat it. And an inability to understand other people, general apathy... I have lots of weaknesses XD But that doesnt sound as funny as "X, my only weakness."

Why women? Particularly if romance holds no interest to you I don't understand this one.

And since I have no one else to say this to:

Ouch. My feels. :( Why can't everything be resolved with a happily ever after......

.......in a post apocalyptic dystopia. Shhhh.

(Tragic complex character death in TV I'm watching)

The 100.

Basic premise is that a small group of humanity have survived in space after nuclear war all but destroyed the planet. They send down 100 teenage criminals to see if they can survive on earth, mostly expecting them to instantly die of radiation. They don't, and things quickly get very complex and intense because there are others alive on earth and strange thing a going on none of them could have suspected. Plus they're a bunch of criminals and aren't so brilliant at working together. It's great.

You are a shapeshifter! (But yeah, if i hadn't notice you name fast enough I would have been thrown of guard as well. :P )

I just realised why people call posting in an old topic "necroing".

An old thread is buried under dozens, hundreds, of other posts, like a coffin the ground...then it shambles to the top and claws out like a zombie.

It was my stupid brain that fooled me. :P I liked the other avatar, too.

I was testing some news ones from Coldplays's Ghost Stories. I like my current one a lot, but I'm thinking it needs some retouching.

Kobold, you're a Moffat fan, right? What's your opinion on the accusations of sexism thrown at him?

Complete rubbish. Amelia Pond's one of the strongest companions of the modern era. River Song uses and outwits the Doctor on a regular basis. Sally Sparrow from Blink and Madge from The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe are some of the most fascinating, not to mention toughest, characters on the whole show.

I don't get why anyone would call this man sexist. Is it because Amy wears a short skirt on occasion? It's more than Leela wore, and I don't see anyone tearing into the classic era writers over it. Is it because all of his female characters have devoted relationships with the men in their lives? The men are equally as devoted, and anyone who thinks that women can't be both strong characters and deeply in love are guilty of a more dire sin of misogyny than they're accusing others of committing.

So yeah. I don't understand the accusations. I might be wrong--might--but I tend to think that most of the misogyny-accusers are people who dislike Moffat for more subjective reasons and are attempting to justify their distaste through the most tenuous of arguments.

Only barely relevant, but my mother spends half of all her television time ranting about misogynistic writers, and even she adores Moffat's female characters, even holding them up as examples that other writers should follow. Make of that what you will.

Humming the theme, I presume? :P

In case anyone missed it.

I read it!  And thought about how Narcissa is a way better mom than yours.

I still hold to the headcanon that the real way it all ended was, "And then Buffy staked Edward.  The end."

And, a moment of shameless self-promotion:  I made a tiny adorable Yoda!

Most of the sexism allegations stem from the fact that his female characters are defined by their roles as mothers and caregivers. I don't necessarily agree with this—River isn't a mother and doesn't seem to want children—but I can see where they get the evidence for it. They also point to the female characters often being defined by their relationship to the Doctor, but since this show is about the Doctor, I think that's stretching it a bit. I agree that River, Amy, and other female characters are strong and engaging. (I will not, however, extend the same argument to Clara. She has all the trappings of a strong female character, but there's so little to her personality that she doesn't feel like a complete, well-developed character.)

As I said before, my complaints about Moffatt center on the declining quality of his writing. Many of his ideas are absolutely sound, most notably Missy, but the execution I feel leaves something to be desired. And it began before Clara ever joined the Doctor in his TARDIS; while Moffatt wasn't personally responsible for writing many of the episodes of Season 6 and onward, the grand narratives just felt….underdone. And I'm not fond of the way he decided to excise the fairy tale aspect of the show in Season 8; that is the chief reason why I haven't seen any episodes from Season 9 yet.

I don't think Moffatt is a terrible writer. I think he's a good writer, and nowhere is this more evident than his early episodes. "The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances." "The Girl in the Fireplace." "Silence in the Library/ Forest of the Dead." Fantastic episodes, and they had one thing in common: They told complete, self-contained stories. I believe the grand narratives Moffatt strives for harm the overall quality of his writing, because I think he does his best work when there's a clear beginning, middle, and end that he must work within.

I won't deny that Moffatt has made some incredible contributions to the show, but I think it's time for him to move on.

Edit: Thanks, Kaymyth. :P I think my mom could learn some "momming" skills from Narcissa.

The man has no idea how to write female characters.

None of his female arcs pass the Bechdel test: X

and why don't you have a look at this: X

oh wait what's this X

woah wait even more X

want me to dig up more? i can dig up way more.

tl;dr: this disgusting pig ruined my favorite show.

A couple could be played off as jokes... then we get to the Karren Gillan part...

Show of hands: How many want a female Doctor? If they can find a woman who could play The Doctor, of course. I have about no interest in cinema, so I cant remember any actors... though going by how awesome Lara Pulver was as Irene...

Keep calm and tone down on the adjectives. I downvoted before even reading the links, and while I mildly regret it, calling people "disgusting pigs" when they say something stupid, even if it is as stupid as those quotes, is not exactly good for a healthy discussion.

EDIT: A woman as the Doctor:

Whatever. If Time Lords can change sex during restoration, them it would be good to have the main time lord on screen do it at least once.
