Not my fault . I think. Maybe.

Sorry for that downvote, BTW. People calling others "pigs" or things like that are a pet peeve of mine.

EDIT: And why are people downvoting my last post on that discussion, but not the rest? Whoever downvoted, feel free to PM me so I can know if I just wrote something terribly offensive on that especific post.

downvotes are cool.

Crap i just realized that made me look like i downvoted. I actually haven't done rep in this entire conversation, except maybe once.

I don't care about my rep so feel free to downvote me whenever idc man

If it depended on me, there wouldn't be a downvote button. It makes harder to control outbursts of anger, and I feel like a hypocrite for downvoting people impulsively and then asking them to tone down on the language.

EDIT: Don't worry, Lark, I understood what you meant even before the edit :).

Would be nice, but only because people use downvotes to mess with posts they feel have too much rep.

I'd like it if it were used only to give opinion.

Or if it was used as an agree/disagree sort of thing. With a like button added. The likes are your rep.

Is everyone just ignoring my last post? These conversations have gotten very heated, and a bit mean, and its probably hurting some people's feelings. Lets please just change the topic. None of these comments have been directed toward me, but it still is making me sad. And if its making me sad, other people are probably feeling worse. Lets change to a nicer topic, where people end the conversations on a good note, not a sour note. This is something where people leave with feelings hurt. That is a bad aspect for a conversation to have.

Well on a slightly happier note (for the rest of you) I havent gotten my copy of Bands of Mourning yet. And the bookstore is closed on weekends, so I'll get it on monday the earliest.

Sigh, I should have ordered from the book store that is slightly further away, but open on weekends...

Wait a minute, the official date of release of BoM is 26th... How would you be able to buy one sooner?

These last posts of mine were about apologising and making sure no one felt bitter about this discussion, at least in my view. I was not continuing the polemic.

EDIT: And my post right after yours was ninja-ed. I was trying to put an end to that discussion but you did it faster abd in a more diplomatic way.

Because I ordered it and book stores get it slightly earlier and no one cares about the release dates of fantasy books in sweden unless they are written by George RR Martin.

I really agree with you on this one. Taking away rep someone has just because you personally don't think it's good enough seems wrong to me. Just because you don't think a post is that funny or inspired doesn't mean it didn't resonate with someone else, and I don't think you get to decide whether their opinion was worth it or not. Unless it's used in the context of an agree/disagree system it doesn't seem right.

Is there anyone here considering going on the writing excuses cruise?

I'm thinking about it and don't know anyone interested + it would be a great opportunity to meet you guys. :)

Cruises are...rather expensive, no?

Yeah, can we meet up in a different way? Maybe something more in the stop-in-a-random-US-city-and-splurge-on-pizza range? :P

Or even something like plan a mass migration to SLCC or JordanCon some year.  (I can't do this year.  My con calendar is already full!)

I've never been to a con, so if my first one came with the chance to meet all of my Shard friends, that'd be fantastic. ^_^

I don't think I'll ever be able to meet you guys.

Or at least not for a long time.

I should probably learn how to drive first . . .

Also, I'm contemplating making a Shardblade. Anyone know good tutorials for making fantasy swords?

Cons are awesome.  The huge ones like Dragon*Con are just too much for me; when you've got so many people in downtown Atlanta that you can't even walk down the street, maaaybe you need to consider that it's time to start capping membership.

As much as I'd love to convince everyone to come to KC for WorldCon this August, it's got a pretty expensive membership price tag thanks to its nature as the Hugo Awards con.  It only gets a few thousand people, but they have a lot going on.  It's not realistic to expect people to come trucking down for a 5-day con that costs you over $150 just for the membership.

ETA:  HonorSpren, Google search for craft foam sword tutorials.  There's an amazing lot of stuff you can do with craft foam.

If we could all get together for SLCC - in no way chosen because it is in home state and my aunt generally can get free tickets for me - I would be down with that.
