It seemed like a good choice due to the high concentration of Sharders in the area and the high probability of Brandon signings. Again, I can't do it this year, but 2017 could totally work. Heck, if we generate enough interest, an annual Sharder party could become a thing. 1

Kaymyth she/her Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I have dreamed about doing that for so long. shiny.png Back in the days the Buffy fandom was big, posters on the Bronze:Beta message board used to organize annual Posting Board Parties in Los Angeles. This stuff got big enough that actors and writers showed up and hung out with the fans. This is the first time since then that I've delved into a fandom that had the level of cohesiveness and community to actually get something like that started. I see no reason why it couldn't happen; there'd just have to be enough people willing to help organize it.

Also, realizing that this might be a good thread for blatant promotion of my aunt's business - I invite one and all to feast their eyes on my aunt's theme truffles. Anyone have any ideas for Sanderson truffles? She makes whatever will sell, and SLCC is one of her primary venues. (She also goes to other cons in the western US - I don't think she's made it to San Diego yet, and I don't think she's done any of the midwest or east coast cons. I can try to convince her into JordanCon. But, she does ship within the US. No idea about international shipping...)

EDIT: Although, looking at the map, we only have 9 active Australian Sharders (who have told me their location). We'd be lucky to get a third of them to any sort of meet-up, so... 3 people. It could be anywhere….or nowhere. …though with the way my job hunt is going, it's looking like "in my parents' basement, forever" or "under a bridge somewhere" is the most likely choice for my future address.

Which means that just 'cause you can't come the first time doesn't mean there won't be more opportunities. This fandom is gonna have a lot of staying power. Brandon will be writing books for at least the next couple decades. On one hand, I hope so….on the other hand, I hope I'd fit in there if they did offer me the job. Everyone was so….reserved. It was weird. And I'm not saying I wouldn't want to work there, because it's a job and I would, but I can't help but wonder if I'd be the typical loud, brash city slicker in their parable extolling the virtues of small-town living. I'll do that. I hope Louisiana calls me back.
