With everybody talking about meeting in the (dare mention it) real world, I keep having thoughts about Internet safety going through my head.

Posted

On one hand, I hope so….on the other hand, I hope I'd fit in there if they did offer me the job. Everyone was so….reserved. It was weird. And I'm not saying I wouldn't want to work there, because it's a job and I would, but I can't help but wonder if I'd be the typical loud, brash city slicker in their parable extolling the virtues of small-town living.

I'll do that. I hope Louisiana calls me back.

The Midwest has its own peculiar little culture.  People can be more reserved, but in other ways they're also a lot more friendly.  Get used to waving at people as you pass them in cars.  Even if you don't know them.  Small towns do this like woah.

I think you'd adjust all right.  The nature of your job would allow you to meet a lot of the locals pretty quickly.

Please. That sounds so wonderful. This needs to be a thing.

I'm realizing now that I probably volunteered myself to organize this.    Well, y'all will have to have some patience.  I can't do it this year!

See, this is why it'd be at a con.  Lots of people already, semi-controlled environment.

This may be the Stormlight talking, but with enough planning I'm good enough with almost any meetup (So this year the Hugos are close to Kaymyth, and the World Fantasy convention is in Columbus Ohio though I do not know which, if any, Brandon will show up to...I'm thinking Hugos is much more likely)

Any chance you could all fly to Australia? I promise to clean out the dropbears first.

Yeah... I'm not gonna come. Plane tickets alone would cost as much as I make in a month :/ but have fun to you all :)

Maybe we not american Sharders should open a club while the others have fun together and we wish for nothing more than to join them.

I'll second (third?) this.

Please. Cults wear strange outfits and distinctive headgear. Do you see any of that around the Reckoners RP? <_<

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to ask Kaymyth for some tips about operating a sewing machine.

So I won't bother you with all the steps my mind took but this statement ultimately lead to me recalling this:

Do not question the methods of the Reckoners RPers. Your brain will implode.:P

Also, Bruce finds anime fascinating.

You should show him some animated Batman stuff.

I'd love to meet, but it would have to be after I graduate in 2017 so I don't have my parents all over me.

Ah, The Law of Ueki. The manga with the most amazing and ridiculous super powers ever.

Sanos power is probably among my top 10 super powers. It is just so amazingly ridiculous and he still makes it work.

I have secured my place in the best university in Brazil, but I most likely won't study there because my parents can't consider the possibility of me living alone in São Paulo.

I know it is a dangerous city, but rust, it is like my mother thought there was a rapist or serial killer waiting behind every corner.

Same, honestly. I would like to study abroad but my parents are like "no that's DANGEROUS." ok.

And then they claim that if Sanders wins the election we're moving to Belize regardless of my brother's or my status in school. Its honestly like they don't care about our interests and only theirs. :/ Sorry, but I'm staying here. I have friends I can live with.

Meanwhile my mom wants me to get out, but once I am out she texts me every ten minutes...

So apparently I look like a hot murderer according to my internet friends. Out of all strange compliments...

Does your mother text to make sure nothing happened to you or to make sure you haven't done anything bad to anyone else? Not that i think you would but with the context.

That really is a strange description, I'm not so sure on the compliment part. Did they also say you look like Kira or something like that?

I'm so storming weak that even if I wanted to I would need sleeping pills and a sidekick to murder someone.

I do have the high cheek bones... but no, I dont look like David Bowie XD

I've already decided that if the race winds up being Trump vs Sanders, I'm voting Sanders. He's not my choice of candidate at all, but he doesn't strike me as the sort of man who would start a nuclear war because a visiting dignitary didn't like his tie. -_-

No, I haven't told my mother.

Somehow this song is even cooler with a female Polish singer.

Though my apologies if there's any Polish profanity in here--I really have no idea what the words mean. :P

Brandon was here last year for ConQuest, and I actually asked him whether he'd be at WorldCon.  He said yes, he always goes when it's in the U.S., and sometimes when it's elsewhere.  So it's reasonable to expect that he'll be here.  (I intend to get more books signed.)

Wait, I can see that Edgedancer quoted you as wanting to ask me about sewing machines, but I can't find the original post to quote!  Anyway.  Yes, I sew things.
