Bartholomew takes an Oathgate to Shadesmar, travels by boat to somewhere, then picks up the sandwich.

But you find yourself on a treadmill and so are not actually going anywhere. Bartholomew is easily able to throw @YouCantHaveMySandwich into you, knocking you down and allowing him to fly over and steal the sandwich.
