  1. Because the reveal of Kelsier still alive and being the Sovereign can be spoiled by Secret History. I personally thing it's fine either way. They're what we used to call Shardpools and are now called perpendicularities. They're places where the Shard's power pools and gathers. This can happen naturally, due to the nature of the interaction between the Shard and the planet, or the Shard can purposefully make them. In Ruin's case, it's just where his investiture happened to gather, thanks to Preservation stealing a chunk of his power and hiding it there. So much atium is produced because that was just about the only outlet of Ruin's power. Preservation is spread out through the mists, the Well, in humans, etc, and it's intrinsically different, so it doesn't really produce nuggets. ... Darn it, Cal.
  2. So whoever just requested access, I can't send you the access permission because it's blocked by your domain.
  3. Except that the Shard isn't "Survival". And Kelsier? Not interfering in things? I'm pretty sure he's intrinsically incapable of not meddling.
  4. I think I can make it and bring my recorder.
  5. There're a few new WoBs about this. Basically, Mistborn and Stormlight's magic systems all touch on many aspects of the Cosmere, they kind of encompass a wide range of the possible magics, so you're going to find a lot of similarities between either of those systems and many of the other magics. But it's not the same, and people eating the parasites aren't going to grant humans any powers.
  6. Brandon says that there are hints to his activities during Era 2, and that we'll probably see a little more in the next book.
  7. I did ask about whether the Cognitive Shadow was a copy of the Spiritual or Cognitive. He kinda hedged about it and said it was a philosophical debate type question. I'll post it here when I get it transcribed. It's waaaaay at the end so will be a bit.
  8. I don't think they could. They would hear whatever Rhythms matched Scadrial's manifestation, but I think hearing Allomancy would require more Connection to Allomancy and Preservation than a Singer would have.
  9. Yeah I think it's pretty clear that Rock is hearing the Rhythms very very faintly.
  10. The Stormfather is a Sliver, and a Splinter and a Cognitive Shadow. He's kind of unique, so all three terms apply to him. Normally, a spren really couldn't be a Sliver, but the Stormfather is, because part of him is Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow, which is the Sliver.
  11. Um. Men in The Final Empire do that when they are interested in courting the girl. So no. Another soul that's exactly the same as your own, with the same memories and experiences. Not someone else's. Because she's been a thief her whole life. She's not that much younger than Vin in the beginning of TFE at this point. Even if he meant "as of the last time we saw Kel," the last time we saw him active was during Era 2. And Era 2 happens after Stormlight 5.
  12. Being broken at some point seems to be the most common method of being able to attract a spren, but yeah, as @Nathrangking quoted, I don't think it's actually necessary.
  13. The audio I got is uploaded. It's not visible to everyone yet because there are a few items that need to be muted, and a few we need to check with Dragonsteel about to make sure it's okay to release.
  14. There's always a lot of personal questions, and questions about writing/inspirations, etc. I think we got a pretty good ratio this time There were a lot of Sharders present, too, and some of us went through twice, so we likely skewed that
  15. Oh man, what a fun party! I'm uploading the audio now, though it'll be a bit before it can be reviewed and such. A few snippets that I heard or asked myself Kelsier has not yet figured out a way to leave Scadrial. Hoid is not the weapon that killed Adonalsium. The Fused were looking for the Cryptic in Kholinar. You do need to die, or rather, your Cognitive/Spiritual aspect does need to be ripped out from your body before you can become a Cognitive Shadow. I was RAFO'd on whether Braize was 9-centric before Odium was imprisoned in the Roshar system. There have been more than 15 but less than 50 desolations. He's not sure of the exact number, he'd have to look at his notes, which means it's probably not a *significant* number.
  16. I think we're going to end up with 5 different recordings of the release, then, which will be awesome! That way if audio is obscured on a couple recordings, we might be able to get it off another!
  17. It was something a Questioner mentioned, and Brandon liked, but never canonized.
  18. Some of the Death Rattles definitely sound like they are from Taln. Others are from more mortal sources, like the two about Kaladin. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Death_Rattle The three Shards on Roshar are Honor, Cultivation, and Odium.
  19. I don't think the Unmade contain enough investiture to be perpendicularities.
  20. Good point. We get an entire novella from Lift's PoV and no mention of anything like that.
  21. The nice thing is that the timeline lists the citations. In this case, it's Warbreaker chapter 32. The story that Hoid tells Siri talks about the discovery of Awakening.
  22. The point being, she didn't give any of that to Lift.
  23. Here is my favorite timeline: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JJtJhHwpKdow01n2-bsT3scVvqJd6lZh4uvpNwcslv8/edit#gid=0 Basically, Brandon has said that Warbreaker takes place between Mistborn Era 1 and Era 2. Era 2 takes place ~SA6 or 7. It's about 350 years between Mistborn Era 1 and 2. So, Warbreaker is no more than 350 years before Stormlight Archive. The Manywar is about 300 years before Warbreaker. The First Returned were about 300 years before that. So the time between the First Returned and Stormlight Archive is something around 1000 years. The Recreance was ~2500 years ago. Aharietiam was 4500 years ago. In other words, Radiants were around long before Endowment started being active.
  24. I don't see how the bolded statement fits together. If she's not staying the same, then where does Preservation factor in? And how would Cultivation give her a piece of Preservation? There are a number of ways Demoux can still be around without spikes. Time dialation, medallions, unkeyed metalminds, Breath, etc. Kelsier already has a body. I'm not sure what your point is here. And yeah, you're skipping over Kelsier's need to meddle, the caste situation on Roshar, and Brandon saying he doesn't want the greater Cosmere to be a factor for Stormlight Archive.
