  1. Have fun with that https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?query=rafo
  2. It can also mean, "I just want to troll you, Argent."
  3. The First Gem is definitely referencing Topaz, which has been associated with him for a while. Why, we don't know
  4. The person has to have a Connection to the Shard that the investiture comes from, and the ability to burn that investiture. So most likely, nothing would happen and the investiture would just return to the system. If they did have a Connection, like the aforementioned carrot--They were an Awakener and a Mistborn, and were the ones to Awaken the carrot--they would just get the investiture back that they put in along with the normal effects of that object.
  5. Sanitation is a huge concern, especially in the warcamps, so it makes sense that sapphire is valuable. It'd also be good for clearing obstacles and making cliffs into caves/laits, perhaps. In sanitation, which is sometimes indoors, I'd think soulcasting to smoke could be hazardous.
  6. I know, it's weird. But a radically different culture and all.
  7. Yeah as Cal said, I'm pretty sure she has Plate already, and was using it discretely during the battle. She just doesn't want to let her enemies know more about her than she can help. That way, if they over or under estimate her, she wins.
  8. We don't know for sure, but it's highly likely that she has Shardplate already, so at least 4th, imo. It wouldn't surprise me if she were already 5th Oath, though, since she's been a Radiant for a good 6 years now.
  9. I don't think so. The Alethi are very Vorin, yes, but Vorinism has nothing for or against homosexuality. You're trying to apply "our" notion of conservative to a different culture. Vorinism isn't concerned with whether the people in a relationship are male or female, only that they make oaths and abide by them. Their particular notion of male and female attire and roles also doesn't have commentary on intimate relations, only on public behavior and appropriate abilities.
  10. Well I am sure that Brandon believes that there is a God Beyond, but that he doesn't want to come out and say that, because of the aforementioned leave-up-to-each-person's-beliefs. So he's always very careful when he replies to those questions, to make sure he doesn't invalidate anything.
  11. That's pretty amazing!
  12. Nope. She does not accept that they are deities or gods. Just large chunks of power.
  13. I came up with a thread on this a while back, if that will offer any insights
  14. Brandon's said he doesn't want to touch on a true "afterlife" in the sense of heaven or hell, because he wants to leave that up to the readers. And also, because if he confirmed an afterlife or a true God, that would invalidate some of his characters' beliefs, like Jasnah being an atheist. So while I'm sure that LDS scripture has an influence on his writing, he's not going to dabble much in those waters in his writing.
  15. FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. The shin are definitely xenophobic.
  17. The way I see it, Adonalsium was a complete personality. So he didn't have just a few (or 16) intents driving him, but a full mind, with all the nuances and context that it entails. We know that Ado created all sorts of crazy weird stuff beyond just the Cosmere, like...all of native-Rosharan life and who knows what else. I don't think he would have the handicaps that the current Vessels experience from having just one facet of a personality.
  18. Here you go
  19. I'm fairly certain there were multiple waves of migrations to Roshar, and that some of the current-day Rosharans have some specific genes that cause the characteristic looks to be proportional to phenotype.
  20. I think her decision to go back to Azir, and to help Dalinar, shows that she has matured mentally.
  21. Most lighteyes are descended from either Radiants or people who bonded Shardblades after the Recreance.

    Shash

That's really an impressive necro. I would suggest reading the site rules Topic wise, Brandon answered this in 2012 and 2017.
  23. The meta answer is that Brandon wrote that before he had many of the Cosmere mechanics in place. Like, before he decided that the Beyond was going to be a thing, and that he wouldn't address it directly. Also, the Scadrians are actually progressing slowly than they should be--at least, the Basin ones--because the idyllic nature of the Basic doesn't encourage innovation.
