  1. So in other news, its confirmed that Wyrm is a Dula (if it wasn't before).

I wasn't implying that I was Claincy's lover; I was saving Claincy for Wilson (which I put in white text in my last post). I was in contact with her during the day and I don't think anyone here who was around for the AG doesn't know that she has a vendetta on him. I was just giving her a chance to fulfill that. ;) Besides, Araris was someone that people were still suspicious of, so it was a win-win scenario. We take out someone that we weren't sure of and Wilson would've gotten her chance to repay Claincy for the AG.

Can't say I'm disappointed in the results though. I'm sorry you died Araris, but you took a Cultist with you (Wilson will just have to wait for revenge some other time)! That means that either Luckat is the last or that there's still one more left. As such, I'll take suggestions on whom I should scan for the night!

I realized that afterwards (I missed the white text on that, though I saw Alvron's)

We just checked two players off the 'unconfirmed' list, leaving us with:

    • Wyrm
    • Dow
    • Hael
    • Burnt
    • Emerald
    • Silverblade
    • Sart
    • Clanky

I'd put Wyrm, Dow, and Clanky on the soft confirm list. I have some thoughts which would make me tend to think Burnt and Emerald are probably fine. Ignoring myself (biased, obviously), basically leaves us with Sart and Silver. And maybe Emerald (my thoughts that'd sorta clear him for me are sorta sketchy and based on what I assume certain people know). But ultimately, our Elantrian friends should be executing Luckat at the end of the night. We'll know if there's any more if the game doesn't end after this cycle.

I have no good suggestions. You've got Clanky, if we wanted hard confirmation. You've got Sart, cos we've got no idea what's going on there.

  2. Also how did I end up voting for myself and Araris?

    From the game rules:

Prince/Princess: You have the ability to inspire people to action. During each day phase, you may PM the GM and target one other player. If that player does not cast any vote, you choose who they vote for (include the vote in your PM to the GM), and they will show up in the write-up as such. You MAY still cast your own vote. You MAY have your target vote for someone different from you. You may NOT have your target vote for herself. Your target will not be informed that they were targeted

Appears we have another prince(ss) in play.

    EDIT: Okay, or maybe not.

GM Question: Is Emeralds vote in error? He appears to retract it here.

    • Night 9 - Currently Active.

Well, that was interesting. Meta implied he was Lover with Claincy last round, but he didn't die? Slightly confused exactly what happened there.

We've got Luckat to fireball this round. I guess the question is, are there any more cultists. With Luckat we have 5 cultists.

  5. Wonders if you guys have seen this.

I can't comment about the current text editor, but at least with the new one coming with the next forum update, you can probably add fonts to the editor. Now, whether or not a custom font would work or not, I'm not sure. Don't quite know how web browsers handle fonts - do they rely on having the fonts installed on the device, or can a website serve a font to a device accessing it. If it were the latter, then it is quite possible that it could be added to the forums. Though obviously this is something that would be up to Chaos. If I get the time, I might experiment with the new editor to see if I can get it working locally.

We're not exactly super decisive at the moment. Wilson said she'd likely vote Emerald, but doesn't want to decide the vote by her lonesome. I would consider shifting my vote to Claincy, who hasn't reported in this cycle, but then that'll take out Clanky (potentially).

EDIT: Did we ever have a second party verify Wyrm's Dulaness? I might shift my vote from Sart to Wyrm, just to verify.

  7. Mate, that's all and very well, but when you spent at least two cycles obsessively trying to prove my Dula-ness and then immediately accept a poison-claim at face value? Something's definitely either inconsistent, weird, or fishy. And I mean this in the sense of an inclusive-or.

Ah. So its more the fact I've not actually referred to his poison claim. Slightly curious as to if you're mixing me up with Seonid. I felt it slightly odd to make a claim under threat of lynch, but I wondered if I'd do the same. Ultimately, I wasn't too concerned. If someone got poisoned, we'd kill Clanky, if we didn't then we've not gained a lot. Gifting the poison is a good idea. I feel like at this point, the village has won, but it's just a question of how long it takes us to remove all the cultists. Your Dulaness was me being undecided on my stance on public confirmation of roles. If you noticed, I more took Jain at face value, without much complaint.

EDIT: Clarifying my comment about how I think the village seems to be almost guaranteed a win (presuming our Elantrians don't get trigger happy), it's why I wasn't so concerned. It's also been addressed by others, and now we have a plan to verify it efficiently (his having poisonness).

  8. For our purposes, I suggest myself, simply because I'm not sure if Gifting takes up an action slot (Hreo, confirmation please?) and we don't want to encumber Meta or co. with having to give back the poison at night, but I have no night actions.

When items are Gifted, the identity of the giver cannot be concealed which further suits our purposes, because then we have GM confirmation that it was Clanky who had the poison. Once the transfer is complete at the end of this Turn and Clanky is soft-cleared, have whoever received the poison return it to Clanky, with our thanks for his putting up with our need to soft-confirm him.

    Situation resolved. Easy.

    From his initial clarifications:

Tis a gift to be simple

Giving an item as a gift does not take an action. The "giving" takes place at the end of the phase. Thus, the receiving player will have to wait until the next phase to use the item. (ie: say Raoden somehow knew that the Cultists were going to target Sarene during this night phase. He gives her the Korathi Pendant. However, she doesn't receive it until the end of the night phase, so it arrives too late to save her.)

Just verifying this. I started with poison, but gave it to Kas in cycle 2 I think (he used it to send Bort to Elantris). I checked with Hero beforehand whether Kas would be told that I gave him the poison, and Hero confirmed it did.

@Kas, re: suspicions of Clanky. Not sure when I've dismissed him as being suspcious, but I will say that I've found that he's not necessarily said a whole lot, and I feel like I'm biased negatively against him. So I'm wary of coming down hard on Clanky without being sure that it's founded.

  9. This makes me think of the Belgariad (a series by David Eddings - aspects of the Inheritance Cycle's magic system work in a similar way). I think Intent is going to have an effect. There are efficient ways of doing something, and then there are inefficient ways of doing something. If it depended on how the magic user thought about the spell (as in, what particular action they thought they were replacing by using magic), how powerful they get could really depend on how they understand the physics behind how things work.

  10. I don't know how the Elantrian fireballs work (as in, do we have 5 vigilantes, or do the Elantrians privately vote on a fireball target), but it'd be nice to know for sure if we can rely on Elantris taking out Luckat.

But presuming that will happen, I'll pull my vote of Luckat, and stick it on a smart guy for the moment.

You've been on today, and you've surely read the thread. Thoughts? Comments? Now that we've (basically) eliminated Pan-Dareth, want to tell us who you're suspicious of? Where do you think the remaining Cultist(s) could be?

  11. Here's my question. What the hell is up with these billions of Question #Whatever threads? I do not understand xD

    Never :)

Seeing as Chaos answered two questions in a 'Ask Oregoners Anything' thread, implying he is an Oregoner, it is not impossible that this answer could change...

  12. The usual BBCode view is gone. I know, it is sad. However, you can paste in BBCode and it will render exactly the same, but when you edit it, the BBCode is not there. There is a Source view, but it contains the HTML view. The reason I suspect that this current editor is finicky is because it translates BBCode to HTML, and back and forth. What is actually stored in the database is HTML.

So, the HTML view exists, but I've been advised that it is obviously a bad idea to let people arbitrarily paste HTML. So... that will probably only be a mod-only thing, unfortunately.

The thing you linked to is exactly what the editor looks like, though I can customize the toolbars on desktop, tablet, and mobile respectively.

It is a CKEditor thing, and supposedly I can just add plugins to it. I'm not sure how well they'd work, but I can totally take a look, especially if there's something you would like in particular.

Aaaaaaa.... Research led me to so many tabs....

Anyways - there's a CKEditor plugin for BBcode output, but it only has a very basic bbcode implementation. So it'd need work to add things back in. Not sure how it'd still have some of the new features, or if it'd even work.

Tables are probably the main thing that we don't have that I've sometimes wished we had. Spoilers with descriptions would also be cool.

Other than that, looking through the list of plugins, the only other ones would be:

Seeing as we're on the topic of editors, maybe it's a good time to bring up.... emoticons!

Self plug, I know, but there was once this thread, with this comment. Seeing as things are getting redone...

So, new iconography and background are coming. Awesome. That going to include the Coppermind too?

  13. You should bold and underline your votes Wilson. It'd help convey the magnitude of how scary it is to be voted on by you. (Also, that comment about the ' awkward moment when you turn out to be Odiv' was meant an amusing after thought, rather than an expression of suspicion. Edrab sincerely hopes he did not bring displeasure to the Brightness Ascendant.)

Edit: A thought. Could we just fireball Luckat, and then use the Lynch to generate discussion?

  14. There are a lot of features for mods and admins that you guys don't really care about, but are very cool.

    I'd care about them

    1. You can now undo up or downvotes. Thank Harmony.

    2. You can now tag users in posts, and users (if your notifications are set correctly) will get a notification.

These things are both awesome! Like Lightsworn said, great for SE for when you want to call out an inactive.

Search is different. It is debatable better, but I'm not totally convinced. That said, I still need to see how it all looks with all our data. The editor is also very different. It's supposedly a much better visual editor, but you know me, I'm a big fan of the coding layout, where you see all the BBCode. And it's... it's not the same. Maybe I'll get used to these. I mean, we'll have to, because the benefits outweigh the downsides.

 Sounds ominous. I like the editor as is (mostly... sometimes it wreaks havok on the neat code when switching between views...).

Is it pretty much this? Or is it (going to be) modified? Is there a plaintext mode, or is that what you're saying is absent... (RTE are nice and all, but properly formatted code is superior, and sometimes necessary when the RTE can't figure out what you want)

    EDIT:

Dug around on the CKEditor site. Is the editor a form of that? Will it come thing things like Tables, or Latex/Math support?

Welcome (back) Elantrians! Now Renegade can do his own reviews. Also, this is good, seeing as we just got back 3 confirmed good players (iirc?).

Also, Wilson needs a new title. Not only is she the Queen-King, but also now an Elantrian. Votes that 'Brightness Ascendant' be her official title/role in this game. Awkward moment when she turns out to be the Odiv...

EDIT: Alternatively 'Almighty Empress' would do just fine.

  16. @Meta: Any of those options work for me. Lukat could also be a reasonable choice - Odiv possibility in addition to being a potential cultist.

    Confirmed Players:
    • Alvron
    • Kasimir
    • Wilson
    • Mckeedee
    • Meta
    • Twelfth

Unconfirmed (Relatively) Active Players I'm willing to trust:

    • Seonid
    • Wyrm
    • Dow
    • Haelbarde

This leaves us with 8 players.

    • Araris - probably the most active of this list. Not sure about him. Has been suspicious of Clanky for half the game. Would probably lean towards viewing him as trustworthy.
    • Clanky - Been relatively quiet. He was also quiet in QF7 till right near the end, when the more conversation players had died and when, as an eliminator, he controlled the lynch. I don't necessarily trust him, but I'm not sure if I'm just harboring a slight grudge from that game. Because of this, I'd put him on my 'To Scan' list, but lower than the other's I mention.
    • Claincy - Been ill/busy for a large portion of the game. One of the quite experienced players that's yet to be cleared - I mention this as I had expected at least one of what I see as the top tier players to be a Cultist, which we've not yet seen. Other people have opted for Pinch hitters this game. Should Claincy have? Probably my pick to get scanned next.
    • Emerald - Don't have anything on Piff, as he never posted. As for Emerald, he's been reasonably active. To be honest, I'd lean towards trusting him.
    • Luckat - Actually writing this one last, and I've run out of energy/need sleep. I'll just say, not sure. I think she's on Kas' less-suspicious list. She's had useful stuff to say, but we don't have any clues about her allignment. Probably put her as third on my 'To Scan' list.
    • Silverblade - Again, can't comment on Ostrich, as we got no posts, though that he did something cycle one is interesting. Since he's started playing though, he's only posted here 3 times over 2 days, almost a week ago. However, he's been posting heaps in other places. So I'm going to call out Silverblade. Been following the game? Who are you suspicious of?
    • a smart guy - I thought Wonko reasonably trustworthy, but he was also the initial spokesman for Elantris by nature of having a Seon. He didn't necessarily contribute much (as far as I can remember) beyond that. Sart hasn't been altogether that active - a post every 3 days. I don't suppose we know if he's been using his Seon still? Because we don't really have much on him, but he did have an active role previously, he'd probably second on my 'To Scan' list. Also an experienced player, and the sort of player that'd work nicely on the eliminator team we've seen so far, which is also why he'd be high on my 'To Scan' list.
    • Burnt Spaghetti - Only just joined, so hard to comment on them necessarily. It'd be good if they post a bit more though. As far as Kipper goes, I think gut feeling was I'd tend to trust him. He was/is a Keeper, and we've not seen a Cultist Keeper yet, so it's not impossible they could be a cultist. Probably lean towards trusting though.

    TL;DR / Summary:

The people I'd like scanned would be:

    1. Claincy
    2. a smart guy
    3. Luckat
    4. Clanky

I'm also calling out Silverblade, who hasn't posted since the 13th, while being active elsewhere.

EDIT: Added a detail to my Clanky listing, and updated my 'To Scan' wish list.

EDIT 2: And yes, I know it's not the day cycle, and we're not voting, but the red makes in nice and obvious that I'm calling him out. (We'll skip over the fact I initially forgot we weren't voting for Day 9 yet...)
