  1. That's a definite yes, they basically blocked Harmony from even locating them after Saze reached out. Or maybe Elendel is also a Cosmic power, with there being two cosmic powers on the same planet, which would be a bit weird. They just entered a Cold War at the end of Era 2, with Elendel being the one to have the first Scadrian nukes, so I have my doubts that they were conquered. Or maybe the Malwish are cheapskates and don't give out metalborn powers to anyone other than their most elite members?
  2. Maybe it's the Malwish specifically? They don't have many natural Metalborn of their own, due to a lack of Lerasium and Terris in their ancestry. Maybe if Elendel is still around somehow, and not allied with the Malwish, maybe they're the ones with more Invested powers in people? I hope that's the case, because all of Scadrial being part of an Evil Empire sounds kind of depressing. Well, we already knew from TSM that Shades could be contained, so that's not really too surprising. Making Breaths probably isn't easy as collecting it from Nalthians. And Awakening, while versatile, isn't going to be as super useful in Space Age unless you have a dedicated field of study, which the Scadrians might not have but the Nalthians do. I've seen this topic brought up before, and I'm willing to bet it could be for a few reasons. -Their tech might not be like other people's tech, maybe it's not mechanical technology but biological, biopunk or whatever you'd call it. -Their tech might be super blackboxed, unable to be used by other people for whatever reason, maybe by design, maybe because you need Investiture specifically from Invention to use it and even Unkeyed power won't work. -Or maybe Invention has somehow managed to find a way to prevent any humans or mortals from gaining an Invested Art from them, allowing them to completely dedicate their Investiture to making their own inventions.
  3. It's also interesting considering that in Era 2, a Roseite Aetherbound was part of the Ghostbloods in exchange for their aid in gathering help to fight the Dark Aether, and Kelsier was considering gaining allies from the 'Land of the Aether's', alongside Sel and Mythos. Also interesting is that the Malwish have formed an Empire, something that Kel would very likely be against, unless something really big makes him change his mind. So perhaps the Sovereign no longer has influence over the Malwish Post-Era 3? Or worse, perhaps Kel has gone down a similar path as Rashek? Crossing all his previous moral lines in order to protect his world? Lots of potential implications for Era 4, but especially Era 3, since this story is meant to take place before Era 4, and Era 3 will likely lay the groundwork for this 'Malwish Empire'.
  4. It'd also be easier for Aquatic Megafauna to exist due to water buoyancy, unlike on Roshar where Chasmfiends need lower gravity and Spren bonds to lighten their weight so they don't crush themselves. Although the Tai-na are island sized and in water, so there's that. Now that does sound really cool, especially since I don't think we've actually seen a Tears of Edgli flower before. I think. I'm not sure since it's been a while since I've read through Warbreaker. Some Sandlings already get pretty big, no Perpendicularity required, and I'm 90% sure that Taldain's Perpendicularity is likely somewhere on Darkside rather than Dayside. There don't seem to be any magical fauna or flora on Sel unfortunately, which I hope is not the case as we finally get the sequels in a couple years and a better look at Sel. Maybe a Seon or Skaze could take a dip in their respective Shard's Perpendicularity to get bigger? As for Scadrial, same issue there, though I do like the idea of a megasized Mistwraith, especially if one was exposed to Ruin's Perpendicularity and went from a scavenger into a predator. Really give the Skaa something to fear. And the Nobles, and pretty much everyone to be honest...
  5. I'm not sure if this is the place to talk about this, but I'm burning with frustration due to a lack of understanding. I preordered Isles of the Emberdark on Apple Books on my IPhone, and even got to read the first few chapters as a sample. But now it's saying it's not available, and the only thing left is the sample. Every time I try to figure out what's happening with it, the app just says "Item not available" and doesn't even give me the summary or any information at all anymore and it doesn't even pop up when I search for it. Literally the only thing that proves it ever existed on the app at all is the sample I downloaded. And the Audiobook, but I don't use those and that just makes me more confused. I'm quite concerned, especially since I was led to believe that preordering the Ebook would allow you to get it on the 1st of July even if you aren't a Backer. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me on this.
  6. Artist Faction: A group that wants to encourage the creation of more cultural masterpieces, while also demonizing Forgers. Warmonger Faction: A group that wants to heavily encourage the forceful expansion of the Rose Empire's territories.
  7. BRAIN BLAST!!! My main issue in this topic is that the Investiture used in the Metallic Arts is set upon use, burning copper will generate Investiture that is only used in one specific way, not another. Unlike Stormlight which has no set use and is just a power source waiting to be used. But, what if that Allomantic Investiture were to be siphoned out of the body it's usually contained in? Like, say, with a piece of Raysium? If an Allomancer were to burn a metal, be jabbed with a Raysium dagger that drains Stormlight from Radiants into gems, then perhaps the Preservation Investiture (Mistlight?) can be stored into Gems and manipulated! Then with the proper use of Tones and Rhythms and Vacuums and whatever else, could be Blanked of Identity like Stormlight can be, as confirmed in WaT, thus becoming usable by anyone with the proper ability! You wouldn't even need compounding! You could just be a regular Allomancer burning a metal, have that Investiture you generate siphoned out into a gem and Blanked, then you could breathe it in to power your Surgebinding! Make your Allomancy a way to turn regular metals into pure Investiture! It's genius! Or maybe I'm just a lunatic! Probably both!
  8. That would definitely explain some things, and seems like a natural fit, almost... too fitting... It could be the mother of all red herrings, but it does line up. And yeah, that betrayal would sting more, because all the one's that could choose to break it chose to leave behind the one that couldn't. Like it was for the best and it kind of worked out, but still kind of sucks that it had to happen at all.
  9. Several types of Fused would be inherently better than others as Lifeless, mostly those that have enhanced physicality and aren't as reliant on their Surges to function. Heavenly Ones/Devastating Ones/Flowing Ones/Masked Ones/Deepest Ones/Altered Ones: Too reliant on their surgebinding to be of any practical use, an Awakener would be better off just turning some Warforms into Lifeless soldiers instead. Husked Ones: If Lezian is a prime example of them, then their large size, greater physicality and natural weapons would make them better than the previous. Focused Ones: Without the Surge of Tension, these guys are just big meat shields more than anything else in my opinion. Magnified Ones: By far the best, the large amount of Carapace functions as natural armor and shouldn't require any Surges to maintain, making them walking tanks.
  10. We do not know, beyond the fact that it may be possible but exceedingly difficult via a scant few WOBs. Honestly, I'm not sure on how one would go about it, as Compounding is still a more 'internal' Invested Art, the power is either within the body and stays there until used up or stays put in a metalmind. Unlike with Stormlight or Purified Dor which are Invested Substances that can be stored and accessed much more easily by others by comparision. At a minimum, the Twinborn will need F-Aluminum in order to Blank the Investiture they are generating, so they will be stuck only compounding with Aluminum, and we don't know for sure if that works or not, and they will miss out on any other more useful types of Compounding, like Steel or Gold. I'm not even sure if this will be enough provided C-Aluminum works at all at actually generating Investiture. It'll be Blank, but a Surgebinder needs to 'Breathe in' more gaseous forms of Investiture for this to work, or absorb liquid types like in a Perpendicularity. Maybe by stuffing an Aluminummind with tons of Investiture, provided that works, then either liquifyeing or vaporizing it, it might become accessible as melting a metalmind will have an effect on the Investiture inside of it as stated by WOB, but we don't know how and one will end up burned by this if they came into contact with the superheated metal. I think that it's ore that the key just doesn't fit the lock in terms of these differing Invested Arts. -Metalborn either burn metals inside their bodies to turn it into Investiture or store it in metal where it is difficult to access any other way other than tapping it. -Surgebinders breathe it in via external sources, which likely won't work well. Maybe if an Aluminum Compounder Blanked their Identity, then burned an Unkeyed Aluminummind they filled, they could try and 'breath it in' while burning it, but that's kind of a long shot in my opinion.
  11. There is a WOB that states that a Mistborn/Anyone in general cannot Burn a Godmetal if it has it's own Identity, so you can't burn a piece of a Shardblade because Spren are people, and likely not an Honorblade either because they're self-aware. Only Godmetals that don't think, like Lerasium and Atium, are Burnable.
  12. Funny enough, I'd like to see a Twinborn with Allomantic Gold. Now hear me out, we've only ever seen it used twice on screen, and even then, it wasn't really used for anything and is seen as useless. But, I think that if paired with a Feruchemical Metal like one of the Spiritual Metals, it will become much more interesting. Or if just on its own, it could force the protagonist to using the Mechanical Metallic Arts to make up for it, either way I'd like to see it. A-Gold/F-Chromium could be interesting, as it's theorized that Gold and Electrum utilize Fortune to work, which Chromium affects, so it's possible that Chromium could turn an Augur's ability into something new and interesting via the Storing and Tapping of Fortune. A-Gold/F-Duralumin could also be interesting, as they might be able to amplify their 'Connection' to their alternate self for some effect, or store Connection to dampen the severity of the Gold Shadow's "I see myself and I see myself" thing, as that is a known problem with it. A-Gold/F-Aluminum has been stated in the "Until Brandon Says Otherwise" dubiously canonical Mistborn Adventure Game to be called a 'Vessel', which raises the possibility of storing one's Identity to allow the Gold Shadow to possess one's body for a time, kind of like a more raw and improvised variation of what Moonlight does with her Stamps. (Not a Cosmere spoiler, since we've seen it in TLM) A-Gold/F-Nicrosil would be interesting just to find out how F-Nicrosil works, both in general and how it works with Twinborn. Or by combining A-Gold with a Harmonium Grenade, how would that work? We've never seen an internal Allomantic ability used with one of those before, so it could still answer some questions we've had. Theres more possibilities with Augurs than we've been led to believe. There's got to be. Oh yeah, there's still a method to gain Lerasium that Harmony's trying to keep under wraps, which pretty much narratively guarantees that someone somewhere will crack it and use it for themselves. Probably by the antagonists. Yeah, an Era 3 Mistborn, with access to all metals and any amount of the Malwish Magitech, is pretty much unstoppable compared to Era 1 Mistborn. Atium or no. As for the powers limit, no. Kelsier was ordered by Gemmel to keep all 8 of the basic metals burning at all times during the Eleventh Metal. The point of being a Mistborn is to have all the allomantic powers at once, if there was a limit, we would already know about it.
  13. Just the pre-installed ebook app on my iphone. I preordered IotE, then it changed from 5 months away to barely a week away and then there was the sample available.
  14. So, I preordered Isles of the Emberdark Ebook, and some samples came out early and I have now read the first 6 Chapters. Dunno how much, if at all, I'm allowed to say without breaking some rule or another, but to be safe I'll put them in Spoilers. Chapters 2, 4 and 6 Chapter 1 Chapter 3 Chapter 5 Anyway, very interesting stuff going on and it only makes me want the book more. So very glad it's coming out next week, instead of 5 months from now.
  15. Another thing in said WOB is that the whole plot outline of "Allomancer Swat Team hunting a Mistborn Serial Killer" is not happening, due to Brandon already doing that sort of thing with Bleeder in Shadows of Self and not wanting to repeat it. Which is a shame, since the premise of a group of non-Mistborn Metalborn having to go up against a Mistborn Antagonist in a Modern setting with all 16 metals used to their fullest potential sounds really cool.
  16. Perhaps Nomad was just being cynically hyperbole? He wasn't in a great head space around this point.
  17. I think you are underestimating the precariousness of the situation Wayne was in. There was less than twenty minutes before the boat hit Elendel and exploded, Wayne is not an engineer despite sometimes pretending to be, the ship was locked onto its trajectory by the crew before they killed themselves, I doubt cutting the fuel line would be fast enough to stop the ship's momentum and a Cadmium Bubble can't stretch across the whole ship, and before you say it, Duralumin won't increase the size of the bubble, just the level of time dilation so that won't help either. And worst of all, Harmony was blinded by Autonomy during all of this, he couldn't even see the bomb itself until Wax was right in front of it. So even Harmony couldn't just tell them "Cut this line to stop the boat" or anything like that because he literally can't see it. Harmony did suggest that Wayne could hop off the boat and use a massive Steelpush to hold the boat back to buy some time, but that only had a 1-in-100 chance of working without detonating the bomb, and I highly doubt the other suggestions you've made would be much better. The only guaranteed way to prevent Elendel from being blown sky high, was for Wayne to do exactly what he did, especially since he was literally the only person in the entire Cosmere who is skilled enough with Allomantic Bendalloy to create a Speedbubble with a specific shape.
  18. He actually said to Marsh that he was considering removing the Electrum Spike he got at the end of TLM. And technically anyone who uses the Bands of Mourning is a Fullborn, if indirectly. Though yes, they are known to be drained right now, but I fully subscribe to the theory that they aren't and the Malwish pulled some trickery to steal them while trying to trick everyone into believing that they are worthless now. Anyhow, Hemalurgy isn't a way to become a Fullborn anymore since Harmony Ascended, because Hemalurgy has new limits, there are only so many spikes people can acquire now before they just stop gaining powers. This is due to Ruin no longer pushing on the fabric of Scadrial and causing slight decay in everyone's souls. Marsh is an exception to this with his 20+ Spikes, but this is likely because he was spiked before Harmony Ascended. Maybe there's a way around this new limit, but that's just speculation. The Steelsight is just an effect of being spiked through an eye, not due to a power. Kel has no allomancy and Hemalurgy doesn't work on him, even Lerasium wouldn't work on him. Theres even implications that he can't use the Bands of Mourning despite being credited with their creation, as he said he's 'still looking' for a way to use Allomancy. Technically speaking Lerasium has never been easier to acquire as of the end of Era 2, since there is a viable, if unclear, way to produce Lerasium and Atium by splitting Harmonium with Trellium, with some unknown extra step to actually produce the two godmetals instead of just an explosion.
  19. I think that at a minimum, a modern True Body will require at least some Aluminum just due to its Investiture Blocking properties, especially its ability to block Emotional Allomancy when placed around the skull. Any Kandra would be worried about potentially being controlled by either a powerful Allomancer or by a Shard, aluminum can help them resist. Now this is innovative. With how malleable a Kandra's physiology is, why stick to regular human shaped bones when you can make custom bones to your own specifications. A Kandra in the potential Cyberpunk Era will be very interesting, since it would be ridiculously easy for them to equip cybernetics with little to no worries about basic biological limitations.
  20. A Lerasium Savant would Ascend to the Shard of Preservation. It's basically what Vin did with the Mists, since the Mists are just the gaseous form of Preservation's Investiture, with Lerasium and the Well of Ascension being the solid and liquid versions of it.
  21. If a Mistborn burns Lerasium, they become a stronger Mistborn. Because Hoid has some future sight ability that gives him directions, and if he had taken that second Lerasium bead, then Elend would have died and Vin would not have been able to save Scadrial from Ruin. Ruin would have needed to manifest physically to absorb the Atium in the Trustwarren to regain his full power. And considering just how polarized Ruin and Preservation are, either attempting to assimilate the power of the other, without being Harmony, would probably backfire and harm them.
  22. Best working theory is that Kelsier may have supplied the know-how in their creation, but Spook was the one to actually make them thanks to him being the only Mistborn around at the time and them planning to give him Feruchemy via Hemalurgy at the end of Secret History. It's not really clear why he can't use Allomancy at the moment. When he was dead it made sense, he lacked a Physical body to burn Metals with. But he's walking around with one right now, but I'm pretty sure that it's not his original one. He can't use his Allomancy, can't use Hemalurgy for anything other than pinning his spirit to his new body, and it's implied that he can't use the Bands of Mourning either, since he said he is 'still looking' for a way to use Allomancy despite being credited with their creation. It's been somewhat implied via WOB that his current body is a Mistwraith that ate his bones, with him possessing it through hemalurgy, pinning his spirit to the body. And it's been said that Kandra can't normally use Hemalurgy to gain Allomantic powers, unless they create specific Blessings like Bleeder did, which WOB confirmed are different than ordinary Hemalurgic Spikes and no one besides Bleeder, Rashek and Harmony knew how to make more. So maybe if the method to creating Kandra Blessings gets out, that'll be the way for Kel to regain some of his powers. Not all of them at once, but it'll be better than nothing. TL'DR, Kel can't use Allomancy because even though he has a body, he doesn't have a regular human body, which is interfering with his ability to use Allomancy. Or at least that's my theory.
  23. Slight misunderstanding here. The Reverse Lashing is not the Resonance of the Windrunners, it's the abnormally large amount of Squires they can have. A Reverse Lashing is simply an alternate way of using Gravitation, like how Abrasion can be used to increase or decrease friction. WOB And Brandon (I think) pulled a retcon on the Steelbubble, it's apparently no longer due to Savantism or a Resonance, it's just a technique any Coinshot can learn to do if they are skilled enough. I swear there is a moment somewhere in either Shadows of Self or Bands of Mourning where a Coinshot who isn't Wax uses a Steelbubble and it isn't said that they are a Crasher like Wax. But either way, a Resonance tends to be subtle and less overt than the abilities that are mixed to produce it, as well as not always a direct part of the abilities themselves, extra Squires won't change your Lashings after all. I can't really come up with any Resonances because we simply don't have many to examine, especially not with the Metallic Arts, since the one Resonance we thought we knew, turns out to not be a Resonance anymore! God, I hope someone asks Brandon what Wayne's resonance was, since it shouldn't be a spoiler anymore. Edit: Ninja'ed. Two minutes too late.
  24. Duststalker Reforged: Chapter 1 The sun hung at its peak, its rays shining upon a glistening river that cut a town in half, and leaning on the edge on one of the bridges that stitched the settlement together, was Dek. The young man took a moment to admire the view of the river dividing the town he was born and raised in, he once remembered a time, long ago, where the only thing across the bridge was a water wheel for the metal workers. How things changed, his youth spent watching a new half of a town being built before his eyes. His home had grown bustling, with people walking alongside the paths by the river and across the other bridges like ants in their hill. Looking down at the ever-flowing water beneath him, past the glistening from the sun, was himself. The water reflected the hazel eyes of a man fresh to adulthood, wearing a green vest of the same fashion of nobility, with his brown hair peeking out under his steel-colored Stetson. He breathed out a long sigh as he took it all in, Dek was glad that his grandfather sent him out to collect his mail for him, it allowed him to stretch his legs after being cooped up in his workplace for far too long. And surely it wouldn’t be a problem if he took his time? He wasn’t exactly eager to return to the mind-numbing work his grandfather had all but forced onto him. Work that he’d never asked for in the first place. Yes, by the Survivor he would absolutely love nothing more than to take his time to savor this break. But, if he took too long, then he would get an earful about it from his grandfather. With the times he’d left a lecture with aching ears Dek had to wonder how such an old man still had such a loud set of lungs. He shook his head as he leaned off the bridge and finished crossing it, venturing through the town. As he passed through the streets, the people around him parted from his path, he could hear their murmuring and whispers as he walked. This was nothing new to him, he had a reputation in the town, one that he’d long since lost any pride in. He was surrounded by people and yet felt like he was the only one on the street. After a long walk that made him feel more lonely then he ever wanted to admit, he finally arrived at his destination, Isaeuc’s Bend Post Office. A quaint wooden building, that was nonetheless Dek’s only reliable source of anything outside of the town he’d spent his whole life in. Dek pushed open the door of the post office, the bell linked to the door tinkling as he entered. An elderly lady at the counter turned to look at him, a kindly smile on her face as she welcomed him. “Ah! Hello Dekkel, you’ve come at a good time, the new delivery of Broadsheets came in yesterday.” Dek’s eyes widened, the newest copies had finally arrived? News was slow to reach this far out in the Roughs, especially in a town that had no Railway. With it needing to be delivered by travelling carriages. He knew that he shouldn’t, that business should always come first, but that didn’t stop him from wanting the broadsheet, as much as a man dying of thirst in a desert would want water. “Yes, I’d like that.” But he reminded himself on why he was actually here, his grandfather wouldn’t be happy if he forgot, he quickly continued “I’m also here for a letter to my grandfather”. “One moment”, she said as she turned and grabbed a letter from behind the counter, then turning back around and handing it to Dek. “Here you are, young man” The postwoman said as she handed Dek a letter stamped with an eight-sided seal, a symbol of the capital city Elendel. Along with the rolled up broadsheet, kept in place with a rubber band. Dek stepped outside as he gently placed the letter into his green vest, he sat down on the seat right next to the doors, unfolded the broadsheet and started to read. The front page was a picture taken in the city of Elendel, of an ironspire that was so tall Dek could only assume they scraped the sky itself. But that wasn’t the main focus of the article, the true subject was of a ship docked next to the enormously tall building, a ship that appeared to be floating. With the headline, with it’s massive letters, removing any doubt of the subject, ‘FLYING SHIP CROSSES OVER ELENDEL, CAPTAINED BY SENATOR LADRIAN’. Dek read on, and was left with more questions than answers, the broadsheet was vague on any true details, seeming to be more focused on the who rather than the what and how. How was the ship floating? Where did it come from? Dek didn’t care about some political mishaps that happened in the Basin, he had already read far too many of those, he wanted to know more about the things the broadsheet barely touched upon. It made bare mentions of a new people, a new civilization said to be from far to the south, untouched by Harmony himself? Dek cursed whoever wrote the article for being more interested in complaining about a lawman being senator than about something so incredible. The only thing tiding him over was the articles promise of exclusive interviews in the next issue. Dek rubbed his hand across his face, then froze as he realized that he lost track of time. How long had he been reading? Half an hour? More? He had no idea, but one thing he was sure of was that if he didn’t get his mail to his grandfather immediately, then he was in for the chewing out of a lifetime. He bolted from the chair, frantically folding the broadsheet and stuffing into his front pocket. He grabbed a small glass vial from his trousers, he popped the cork off and swallowed its contents of cod oil and flakes of iron. He felt the metal, the iron, as it settled into his stomach, feeling it’s power as he began to Burn it. Dozens of blue lines spread from his chest, pointing to every bit of metal nearby, ready to be Pulled towards him with but a thought. The gift of his noble heritage, his Allomancy, the ancient power to consume and burn a single type of metal for a supernatural ability. But it wasn’t his only one. Dek focused on one of the iron rings on his fingers, then began to fill it. He felt himself become lighter as he stored his weight away into his metalmind. The second gift he was born with, the cousin of Allomancy, Feruchemy. The ability to store away a trait in metal, in order to enhance it later. Allomancers and Feruchemists, Metalborn as they were called, were rare in the Roughs, he’d heard they were an uncommon sight even in the capital itself. But Dek was of a rarer sort than even that, for he was born with the gift of both instead of one or the other, making him a Twinborn. A child descended from nobility and the Terris. His powers, both fixated on the metal of iron, combined their effects to become far greater than either would be alone. Lurchers could pull metal towards themselves, so long as it was lighter than them, but if it was heavier than them, they got pulled towards it instead. Unlike their steel Allomantic counterparts, who could simply drop a coin on the ground to push themselves through the air, it was usually quite difficult for Lurchers to find anchors heavy and stable enough to lift themselves into the air. Unless of course, one could control how much they weighed on a whim. He felt at the blue lines around him, finding one that pointed towards the nails in the roof of a building further down the street back towards the bridge. Then, with his weight being reduced to so very little, he Pulled on the nails, his feet left the ground as he shot towards the roof of the building, Dek let go of the nails, still sailing through the air, and began to Pull towards another roof even further away, he zipped through the air and did it again and again. As he pulled himself across the town, he could hear the chatter of the people on the street as they gasped and pointed at him. Even after doing this for years, the people of Isauec’s Bend never did quite get used to the sight of a man flying through the air. The feeling was quite old to Dek, their attention was something he almost disliked nowadays. He was tempted to flare his iron to pull himself away faster, but he decided he’d rather not slam into someone’s roof again. He saw the river up ahead, the one that split his town into two, he focused on both of the buildings that lay next to it that he was about to fly between. He allowed himself to fall closer to the ground for a better angle, then Flared his iron and Pulled on both roofs with equal force. He launched himself high in the air, far above the town. The wind whipped at his face as he rocketed through the air, but it couldn’t stop him from grinning. His heart raced as he ascended. Trying to reach the clouds that soared so high, but alas, his ascent slowed, as Dek turned his gaze downwards. No amount of stares and mutters could stop him from enjoying the view, he could see the whole town from so high up. See the people walking all throughout it, like ants making trails around their hill. Seeing the river that stretched across the town and far into the distance, like a scar, only it added to the land’s beauty instead of marring it. While being so light, he almost glided back towards the ground, he gently tugged on the now faint blue lines, pulling himself to where he wanted to fall instead of allowing the wind to carry him adrift. The wind whistled in his ears as the ground slowly came up to reach him, he aimed for the biggest building in the Bend, the Town Hall. All the buildings in town were built with wood, but the hall was built with stone brick for a foundation, and with a tiled curved roof. The fanciest building in town, just as the mayor liked it. As his feet met the dirt once again, bending his knees into a crouch, he breathed out. Using his powers to slingshot himself like that was always a rush, and he took a moment to catch his breath. He sighed as the experience was over and stood up, it was one that few people could understand, the feeling of speed and flight, and the beauty of seeing the world from the sky. It was something he’d done for years and was his greatest pleasure. He entered the town hall and put it behind him. It was time to get back to his task. The inside of the town hall was, as it always was, organized chaos. Clerks busy reading through all sorts of forms, from complaints from the citizenry, to taxes for the Basin, and other such administrative duties. The scratching of pencils on paper filled the air, as did the murmuring of the clerks. Dek stepped through the circus, careful to avoid interfering with their work or worse, being dragged into it. He arrived at his grandfather’s private office at the end of the hall. He knocked and soon after, a gruff voice told him to enter. As he opened the door, his grandfather called out to him as he stepped in, “Dekkel, finally! Pass me my mail.” Hubrins Huris, the mayor of Isauec’s Bend demanded. His aging face in a perpetual state of frowning. “Got it just like you asked.” Dek said as he reached into the pocket of his vest, pulling out a paper and placing it on the desk between them. His grandfather’s frowned deepened as he looked from the paper he placed and back to him. Dek stiffened as he realized that instead of putting down the letter, he placed his own broadsheet onto the desk. His grandfather’s scowled as he snatched the sheet before Dek could take it back. The mayor took one look at the headline and scoffed, “Nothing but Sensationalist Basin garbage, don’t read this rubbish Dek, it’ll rot your brain.” he told Dek as he crumpled up the sheet and threw it in the bin next to his desk. Dek winced, he hadn’t finished reading that, he hoped that the post office might have another copy. But upon his grandfather’s glare being redirected at him, he plunged his hand back into his pocket and took out the letter. He handed it over to his grandfather, the mayor tore open the envelope and took out the form within. While peering at its contents, the usual frown on his face began to slightly lighten as he read on. Dek even saw a very small curve on his lips grow on his face, a rare sight from the old man. Just what was in that letter if it could get Hubrins Huris in a good mood. He slammed the letter down on his desk, “Finally! Rust and bloody Ruin! They’ve finally seen some damn sense!” His grandfather shouted with some growing excitement in his voice. “What’s it about?” Dek asked, though he already had an inkling from his grandfather’s constant chatter over the previous weeks. “It’s correspondence from True Madil, they finally want to build a Railway out here, to my town! Oh, the business this’ll bring, the river has always been a bottleneck, but with a proper Railway built this town will be a fully-fledged city in the next decade!” The older man stood up and walked towards the office’s window, looking over the town as he continued to speak, “I’ve been building up this rusting town for years since my house of bastards kicked me here to be forgotten, but I’ll be having the last laugh!” Dek just stood back and let his grandfather have his say, for the first time in quite a while Hubrins Huris was in a good mood, and he wasn’t going to be the one to spoil it. Maybe he could slowly slip out while he was distracted? Hs grandfather was cut off by the door being opened, the mayor turned towards the intruder, ready to give them a piece of his mind, only to cut himself off at the sight of the sheriff of the town, Timall, standing at the door with a cigarette in his mouth. As the man entered Dek could see that he didn’t look so happy either. “Howdy, gents.” the sheriff said, breathing out a puff of smoke. Whatever was left of the excitement on Hubrins’s face slipped away as his scowl returned, “I’ve told you once, and a thousand times, knock before you enter!” he yelled at Timall. The sheriff gave the mayor a small smirk as he spoke, “Well, just thought I’d ask if you want to come down to the station to pick up your little problem child”. Hubrins gave a frustrated sigh, his good mood vanishing like the mist in the morning, “Now what has he done? You know what, I don’t care.” He stated offhandedly as he sat back down behind his desk, giving Dek a small wave of dismissal, “Dek, go with Timall to pick up your good for nothing brother, I have work to do.” Dek just sighed as he followed the sheriff out of the office, he really shouldn’t have been surprised, his brother Nid always did tend to spoil good things. 25. Oh, yeah I couldn't figure out what you were getting at, it's been a while since I thought about this topic. But making Blessing specifically from Trellium for their Anti-Harmony properties does make sense. It was also said that TLR and Inquisitors was always looking to create new Hemalurgic Constructs, so maybe Bleeder got the idea of the Chimeras from them as some sort of failed experiment. It'd make sense why Chimeras weren't used even if they were discovered in the Final Empire, because they only use one spike and are immune to being controlled, which would make for a less potent and less controllable creature than a Koloss.
