  1. Not quite, since Modern Soothers and Rioters lack the strength to control a Koloss on their own, never mind someone with a coppercloud. Its why Vin needed to use Duralumin to have the power to do it, and a Duralumin-Soothing/Rioting can pierce through weaker copperclouds just like a Duralumin-Seeker can. And once they have control over the Construct, they can control them even if they have no more metals, so I doubt a Coppercloud would save them.
  2. When I saw this, I thought it was about making Animals into Allomancers, then I thought about that one WOB about a Feruchemist Platypus that would be able to store their electricity sense. It would be a humongous waste of either Hemalurgic Spikes or worse, Lerasium, since I doubt animals would be able to use the powers very well like a more sapient being can.
  3. I, think you may be just a little off the mark here. I'll start by answering your original questions. Because Magic Systems aren't one-to-one with Shards, Sel also has two Shards but has a bunch of Magics like AonDor, Dahkor, Forgery, Chayshan, etc. It's been described as thus, Allomancy is of Preservation only, Hemalurgy is of Ruin only, Feruchemy is of their Balance. Because in the time after Well of Ascension, when he was heavily grieving Tindwyl, he began to discard religions he once held sacred as he tried to find a 'perfect answer'. He started to, in his own way, understand what Ruin stood for and how it means more than just death, but also peace with it. More of a personal taste on his part, he just doesn't like the idea of people brutally murdering others to steal powers. Because Preservation and Ruin are opposed to one another, they were opposites. Hemalurgic Spikes carried a bit of Ruin's Investiture, which repelled the Mists that hold Preservations Investiture, when Kelsier used Allomancy on the Atium Crystals in the Pit of Hathsin, they broke because of the destructive interaction between both Preservation and Ruin Investiture. There is no confirmation on its use, but there were implications. Mistborn the Final Empire Chapter 27 Technically this isn't true, as Southern Scadrians had Ferrings and Mistings pop up rarely among their numbers. Though there is a WOB that states that the Terris were given the powers of Full Feruchemists by Preservation in ancient times. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this? Because they did have a least some natural Mistings and Ferrings on their side, Telsin Ladrian was born a Tin Ferring after all. Do you mean, "Why didn't they use off-world magics?", then it's because they didn't really understand Off-World stuff as much as other groups like the Ghostbloods do. Probably also didn't have free access to a Perpendicularity, with Harmony's being tightly controlled by the Malwish. Because they had a god, Autonomy, helping them out, also they had interrogated someone who knew Hemalurgy and had years to experiment. Because that's just a quirk of that particular Godmetal, all Godmetals have an effect in each Metallic Art plus their own innate effect. Trellium repels other Investiture and hides the user, Harmonium explodes when wet and can express Mechanical Metallic Arts, and Raysium can funnel Investiture from one source to another. One little detail, Hemalurgy was created the second that Preservation and Ruin created and Invested Scadrial alongside Feruchemy and Allomancy. Can't find the WOB at the moment but it means that Autonomy couldn't have created Hemalurgy because Hemalurgy already existed at the same time as Allomancy and Feruchemy did. I'm not going to go through the rest of your post, because I'm going to be busy today, but just know that I'm dead certain that this theory isn't correct.
  4. The main difference between Windrunners and Szeth, is that Szeth has had years of practice with Gravitation. He's experienced enough to pull off all kinds of tricks. It's just a skill issue, plus once you Lash something a someone you can't change its direction mid-flight, and if you miss then you've just wasted a bunch of Stormlight that could have been better used to heal yourself or Lash yourself. Or just hit your opponent with a Shardblade if you have one. I'm sure that once we have Windrunners that have more than a year of training under their belt we'll see more of those tricks.
  5. True dat. I personally think that the main reason why these Nicrosil Spikes aren't working is because of Identity, because I think Identity is an important factor in determining someone's type of Allomancy. So, if every person that was Spiked had their Identity's telling the Investiture in the Spike "Be a Lurcher/Pewterarm/Pulser/Augur/etc" then the Investiture tries to do it all and fails because of a lack of power. I hypothesis that the reason why they had any success at all was because more of the Identitys matched the correct power, like say 10 or so Donor's Identity's were telling the Spike "Be a Coinshot" and that made it manifest for a brief time before the other 20 random Identity's ruined it. The Mists could make Allomancers out of people with low Allomantic potential (20% out of a Misting's 50% for instance), by both causing trauma and slightly raising their Allomantic potential, allowing them to become Allomancers. What the Nicrosil Spikes do, I feel is similar to what the Mists once did, just in a more artificial way. So if one did find a way to Blank all of these people's Identity's (Which I feel is probably not as easy as you make it sound, we're talking about stabbing 20+ people for a piece of their soul, and we don't know a confirmed way to force someone's Identity to be Blanked yet), then the Unkeyed Nicrosil Spike would be able to grant a permanent Allomantic power to someone, but it would be random due to every person having a differing Identity and each recipient would just become a random Misting. Of course, this idea depends on it being Identity that determines the type of Allomancer a person is born as, because if not then this is a load of bunk.
  6. Rusting hell, I was just about to look up the Arcanum for the WOBs, next thing I know you've just done it all. You must have spiked a Steelrunner or something because geez luieeze man. Anyhow, I have a feeling that this whole concept will be a big part of Era 3 and was foreshadowed in Lost Metal. Marsh and the Arcanum talked about Identity Contamination and how it limits modern Hemalurgists, while the Set were trying to make Spikes out of normal people but couldn't get them to work right. Probably because each of those Nicrosil Spikes was Keyed to 20-30 different Identities.
  7. We know that he was, at one point, investigating the Southern Continent.
  8. It's not in the Arcanum Unbounded cause there wasn't a short story for it. But Brandon did have it written and have the solar system map for it drawn and shown.
  9. How about a Scrapper (Thug/Spinner) vs a Metalbreaker (Leecher/Brute)? A more interesting fight than it seems. A Scrapper would be faster, much more agile and with their Feruchemy, they might gain 'hunches' on how to avoid or perhaps overcome their opponent, assuming based on the limited data we have on Fortune acting like a much more powerful 'Gut Feeling'. On the other hand the Metalbreaker will be far bulkier and physically stronger, and by burning Chromium will be able to end the fight just getting their hands on their opponent than beating them senseless. A very tricky fight, one that can only be determined by the environment around them and their respective resources. Though I think that the Scrapper has less likely chance of winning, as Pewter burns fast and they'll need it on full blast to avoid getting Leeched. The Metalbreaker can decide when they tap Strength and burn Chromium at an opportune time. If the Scrapper can't get a weapon and escape isn't an option, then I believe that it's much more likely that the Metalbreaker will win, as all they have to do is pursue at their own pace, wait for either the Scrapper's pewter to run out or for them to get close, then Leech them while bulked up, and then the fight is over by then with one huge fist clobbering the poor powerless Scrapper's head.
  10. Sounds fun. I'm gonna try and use the MAG names, or just make up some for fun. Let's start with the canon Twinborn first. Also assuming that they have the same amount of attributes stored in their metalminds for fairness sake. Coinshot/Skimmer (Crasher) vs Lurcher/Steelrunner (Guardian) -Main thing is that the Crasher will have a much easier time using their powers, as seen with Wax. The Guardian will need to be much more careful, due to the dangers of Pulling things towards them. However there is a very interesting similarity to them, they both have the quirk to use their Feruchemy to enhance their Allomancy. -A Crasher can directly change their weight, allowing them to modulate their Pushes. While a Guardian can Tap Speed, which as per WOB will cause their whole body to speed up and increase the speed of their Allomantic Burn, allowing a pseudo-Duralumin effect. -I think that due to the Crasher's easier mobility and easier time attacking from range will lead to their victory if the fight stretches on enough, as all they need to do is force the Guardian to use up all of their Speed, then they'll be easy pickings. Now for the second, a Constant (Slider/Bloodmaker) vs a Augur/Subsumer... Yeah, no, there's no competition here.
  11. I'd think that Sand Masters would be more sensitive to it than a normal person making a Luhel Bond with it. Maybe instead of a Scadrian Colony, there's a Taldain Colony? If Sand Masters and an Autonomy Avatar are hanging around, it'd make sense if there's even some of Taldain's culture being exported to Sult en masse. Perhaps that could lead to an interesting conflict, with the original inhabitants of Sult trying to protect their own unique culture from the influence and control that Autonomy is trying to force on them? With some Scadrians in the background trying to muck around, perhaps even being some off-world agents working directly against Autonomy as part of a campaign in the interstellar wars going on?
  12. Ooo, Blood Sand Mastery, perhaps even Blood Sand Cults that live outside the Cradles by using human sacrifices to survive. Maybe even a opposite to the Diem, where the Diem are meant to be protectors of Lossand, these Blood Sand Cults would just be ravenous bandits. Ah yes, so there's probably a hidden Artificial Perpendicularity on the world somewhere, so Worldhopping is feasible. We know that White Sand 'sings' to the Sand Masters, so I'd imagine that Blood Sand screams at them, demanding blood for motion.
  13. Seems like a pretty cool idea, a deserty place where the sand is literally trying to kill you. Interesting, so perhaps it's the result of Shards clashing on the planet? Perhaps this is a world that, like Threnody, was caught in a battle between Shards and was twisted into a quite terrifying place? I imagine there isn't a Perpendicularity, since it sounds like there isn't a Shard in residence. It kind of sounds like it's a world directly affected by and changed by, but not Invested by a Shard. The way things work in the Cosmere is that Shardless worlds have magic, but it's more environmental and less focused directly into the people, like the difference in Allomancy and Aviar. Though I imagine a Sand Master would have a field day here, would it be easy or difficult for one to control the Red Sand? Overall, an interesting starting point for an idea, and I'd love to see this idea expanded upon. I'd imagine that a story on this world would probably be set in the Space Age, maybe with a Scadrian Colony due to the expansive understanding of how metal effects the Sand? Does the Sult Sand have a name like Taldain's White Sand? Would it be Red Sand, Blood Sand, something along those lines?
  14. I'm hoping that, after an entire Era of having Autonomy run rings around him as Harmony, him becoming Discord will let him finally start punching back at her. Also, we know that Patji, one of her Avatars, is no longer around on First of the Sun during that story, which is confirmed to take place not too long before Mistborn Era 4, and I doubt that Autonomy would willingly give up one of her invested planets by choice, so according to my powers of deduction, Era 3 is not going to end well for Autonomy. Well, considering that she is required never to come back to Roshar and has some mad skills as a merchant, I'm thinking we'll be seeing her more often in future books as the head of some kind of new Worldhopping trading company.
  15. Wow, really puts it into perspective of just how little life was worth to the Final Empire doesn't it. 1 million people killed to make an army of barely controllable monsters. Though I'm pretty sure the vast majority of those spikes were lost during the Catacendre, when Harmony remade the world, there were no piles of Koloss corpses mentioned in the aftermath, and I doubt Harmony would want to leave them all just lying around so he may have just destroyed the Spikes in the dead Koloss.
  16. There are trace metals that they can accidentally consume, Vin unknowingly burned trace amounts of Zinc and Pewter to help herself and called it 'Luck', gained from drinking from a pewter mug and other metal utensils. Kelsier knew because he was already familiar to how Allomancy worked, he's worked with Mistings before. New Allomancers need to check what power they have, for example no one knew that Augurs were a thing in Era 1, they never knew they could burn gold, but later on in Era 2 people now to check for that.
  17. I think it's intentionally vague, in fact I have a theory. I think it's possible that if you break your Bond to your Radiant Spren, it won't completely break your Bond to your Platespren. Things have been happening that can't be fully explained yet, the Unoathed, Szeth apparently 'Skipping' an Oath, Adolin healing Maya even before BAM was freed. I think that it may be possible that, due the extenuating circumstances that have occured, his Windrunner Platespren have chosen to keep following him despite Sigzil breaking his Oaths, which in and of itself was to save his Spren's life, which could be a bit of an interesting paradox in his Oaths, as he broke his Oaths to save people in order to save someone.
  18. It's a bit murky, but I don't believe that he ever said he reached the Fourth Windrunner Ideal in TSM, just that that he had some Platespren from his Skybreaker Oaths and some from his Windrunner ones. He never explicitly swore his Fourth Windrunner Oath in Wind and Truth, but Platespren follow their Radiants even before they swear the Fourth Ideal, and I don't believe it's a coincidence that a bunch of Windspren just happen to be following the Iriali. They're most likely following Sigzil.
  19. I think that he will be left nearly as broken and depressed as Kaladin, his grandfather died to save him, and his grandmother is stuck in crystal for now. With Taravangian's betrayal and Dalinar's sacrifice he's been given the ultimate proof that most of his life has been wasted as a tool for a god who doesn't give a damn about him. It really is more horrible the more you think about it, he has spent more of his life in a lie than he has ever had with his real family. People will know that he was the Enemy Champion that cost them the chance to win, so he'll be socially isolated except for the few people that know his true circumstances, who won't always have time to spend with him. Renarin and Jasnah will have some very busy years ahead of them, Lift will try and help him as a friend, plus feeling guilty about indirectly causing him being in the wrong place and time, but she can't be around all the time either, as the now sole Radiant who can function outside of Urithiru. I imagine that when he's alone, he'll be lost in thought, thinking about how everything was so wrong and probably blaming himself for Dalinar's death, for the True Everstorm, for Retribution, for everything that went wrong due to the Contest. Struggling to reconcile everything that happened to him. I think that he'll be fine in terms of functioning as an adult, Taravangian did educate him over the course of 20 years, and on the chance that Gavinor won the Contest, he'd need to have some education to run a kingdom. But due to the Spiritual Realm's weird effects on one's sense of time, I could easily see him often losing track of time. I think he'll have a big part to play in the back half, in fact he's almost become a parallel to Moash, both being tools for Odium, with Gavinor probably still wanting Retribution on the guy for killing his dad. Maybe a part of his character development is understanding that his dad made mistakes that led to Moash, maybe he'll have nearly caused another Moash to exist due to negligence like his father, only to learn from the lessons and prevent it. Either way, they still have some beef to settle one way or another.
  20. Retributium? It would go hand and hand with the only other hybrid-Godmetal.
  21. Taravangianium? Taravangium? Taravanium?
  22. That would be a huge waste of Breaths. Since it's better to hold onto Breaths for the Heightening and Awakening, but if you use it in Surgebinding, then the Breath is gone forever, and it'll be a massive pain to go all the way back to Nalthis just to get some more.
  23. We still know nothing of his Brand. We know he has a Shardblade, which he used to kill a Fused who wanted to attack the Listeners. But that doesn't mean much. We have pictures of all the Fused Brands, and none of them have metal stuck to their bodies like El does. El was a Dawnsinger king 50 years after the Explusion, he knew the Heralds and was a friend. My personal theory is that he could be a Division Fused, and used the Surge to weld metal to his body. My other, much less likely, theory is that he is the only Fused that can use the Surge of Adhesion and is able to stick things to his body and maybe even use Spiritual Adhesion to some extent like a Bondsmith.
  24. Sounds fun! And of course, some ideas of my own for the Cyberpunk Edgerunners stuff. Rough substitute ideas for the cast. For David Martintez, instead of getting a military grade Sandevistan, he ends up with some type of Prototype Self-Charging Unsealed Steelmind that turns ambient Investiture, like the Mists, into Feruchemical Speed. For Lucy and all the Netrunners, the computers and internet use some kind of super advanced Coppermind/Zincmind stuff to let people access the internet with their minds and do it really fast. For Maine, he could be using Hemalurgic Spikes, like Iron ones to buff himself up, but not enough to turn into a full Koloss, along with a few power spikes like one that grants F-Pewter. He, along with most 'Cyberpsychos' are the result of overusing Hemalurgy to the point that it damages his mind and leaves him, well, psychotic. Or perhaps Cyberpychos are the result of mental pressure being exerted by a Shard on the planet, like what Ruin used to do. Maybe Discord doing it by accident and making all Hemalurgists go crazy?
  25. -Hoping for that Kite planet, that likely has Whimsy because what's more whimsical than flying around on a storming kite? -Also, more information on Nomad's previous and next destinations, the 'Cavern' planet and the sea world with Sho Del that is most probably UTol. -Would also love an arcanum essay on Southern Scadrial, going more into their history and how life is down there. Heck, even just a story of a regular Southern Scadrian guy's life, not doing anything beyond the norm and just letting us see it, would be amazing.
