  1. This has been my understanding following Shadows of Self and the revelations in it
  2. Great question! I guess there are 4 choices on interpreting that until we see more non-Enlightened Truthwatchers in action This truthwatcher "foresaw" it in that they could see the "train wreck coming" and whispered because they weren't brave enough to say anything Honor Truthwatchers have a more dim future sight as you said, but by this point without Honor or the Heralds around, it had already become stigmatized as "of Odium" so they weren't trained in it and weren't familiar with it As #2, but it's a "full Future sight" and they weren't trained in its use/interpretation/sharing it Renarin is NOT the first Enlightened Truthwatcher I think any of them are viable interpretations as this point, though I tend to lean either with #2 (your idea) or #4 personally
  3. I've always assumed that it was like this but with also a "psychometry" style thing, like they can make illusions of past events related to people or objects and thereby discern the Truth of what happened to someone/something. The flipside of that then is the Renarin/Rlain version where they see the coming Truths
  4. Can I just say that I am SO worried about how SA 5 is going to end based on what we see in all those death rattles?? Also based on what we know now of some future stuff... it just feels like its going to be so bleak
  5. One thing I will say, SA book 6 is only supposed to be a decade or couple of decades in the future after SA book 5 per WoB. Originally he said 10-15 years, now he's more cagey on it, but says that Mistborn Era 2 (Wax/Wayne) takes place post Stormlight 5, but he isn't sure if Bands of Mourning is before or after Stormlight 6. Though in 2021 he did say that all Wax/Wayne take place in the 10 year gap between SA 5 & 6 (LINK) He also said recently at C2E2 that Renarin will be a big part of books 6-10 so they can't happen that far in the future.
  6. I thought the hint with Notum was more
  7. I don't think Odium runs free I think Dalinar will win, but Odium will use something in the agreement that none of us are seeing right now to get around the 1000 year limitation Otherwise, what are we doing for books 6-10? Odium is still going to be in play, and I think book 10 will be the ultimate culmination of Odium's story on Roshar I'm both excited and terrified to find out what SA5 has in store for us though
  8. I kind of feel like the OP should be spoilers since it's raised in the latest SA5 preview reading (Spoilers behind this link: HERE)
  9. If he dies there will be much rejoicing throughout the lands… and we will continue to judge others by their reactions to Moash forever and anon
  10. It is present on the Shadesmar map for the Sea of Lost Lights that Nazh made (https://coppermind.net/w/images/Sea_of_Lost_Lights.jpg) But now I need to do word searches in my other Cosmere books to see if there are references I've missed
  11. I knew in my heart it would be a Sixth sequel I’m super pumped by all this!!
  12. Given that Sleepless (Dysian Amians) are capable of forming a Radiant Bond, I have to believe that Siah are as well! Also yeah, I don't know that there is a line necessarily. Some WoB even hint that cognitive shadows might be able to form Nahael bonds in the right circumstances, so that seems pretty wild and wide to me
  13. This a very interesting catch, great job! I mean figgldygrak obviously is an anagram for "dark giggly f" but the idea that it could be a Yolish origin word that somehow survived to multiple planets is interesting. If it's a cipher it is a very short one. My heart of hearts tells me that Brandon (maybe via Peter) noted how much people were paying attention to figgldygrak and decided to keep using it as a tongue in cheek joke to us
  14. Personally I hope that if we ever get an adaptation we only see the lines/etc when a misting/mistborn is burning iron/steel, but I hope we get the visual clues of the mist swirling and I'd be open to really subtle low tone pulses in the soundtrack kind of thing
  15. Wait! We know for sure it was a Skybreaker acolyte who was present when Shallan killed her mom? or is it still conjecture based on Oathbringer letter and Shallan's words to Hoid?
  16. I mean there are Kandra on other worlds, I assume they are spreading tales of Ironeyes just to tick Marsh off
  17. I hope we find out something intereting! though we've seen it already (Miles), and WoB says that the only real way to become a Feruchemy Savant would be to compound the Feruchemy attribute which I doubt you can do while asleep But maybe unsealed medallions can help push the limits on that and we can see some F-savants!
  18. Haha, I like this game Have the awake crew constantly eating to fill up F-Bendalloy minds and swap them IN so the sleeping crew has the food and nutrients they need to sustain even at lower metabolic rates.
  19. I know the Space Era will have FTL in some way, shape, or form. BUT, does that negate the need for some sort of (very common) sci-fi stasis sleep? You have to travel at many multiples the speed of light to make real space travel possible. What if their FTL is only 3 or 4x? It'd still take months to travel places right? Unsealed F-Bronze medallion systems could help with that in some way. Some of the crew sleep, storing wakefulness, and when the medallion or metalmind is full, the awake crew swap empty ones out to keep the crew asleep and use the stored wakefulness to stay awake, crewing the ship?
  20. I'd lean towards F-TIn and A-Pewter myself for a twinborn detective and just have them be an intelligent person so they can really get the most out of their enhanced senses when they tap Tin A-Pewter is just... you know detectives are going to need to fight, it's in every detective story basically, even Sherlock fights! Plus balance, enhanced healing, durability, endurance
  21. I feel like it would act like the Felix Felicis potion from Harry Potter where.... everything would just work out exactly as they wanted while they were still tapping it
  22. I'd give them the Alcatraz books, they're awesome for kids. My 9 almost 10 yo is reading through them right now Frugal wizard is a bit weird as it deals with some pretty adult stuff towards the end of it but might be ok depending on the kid
  23. I think the point is that the Midnight Essences from Dalinar's visions and those from TotES are different completely. At least that is the implication that I read in the WoB I quoted. One are spawned from an Unmade (intelligent splinter of some shard probably honor "unmade" by Odium, at least my interpretation of them) vs a type of Aether which predate the shattering like Yolish Lightweaving does Personally, I don't think we'll ever know the name of the previous lightweaver as they're not critical to the story. They were able to trap the Unmade in the same way Dalinar did and Re-shepir feared Shallan would/could do, through Empathy for the Unmade. Riina doesn't scream "empathetic" in her appearances so far, so I struggle to believe that she'd have been capable of it enough to connect with and trap an Unmade
  24. I don't think the Midnight Essence(s) are that directly related as Brandon said before that similar things get called similar words, just like Lightweaving is called the same regardless of magics used But I think the biggest issue would be timeline related. Midnight Essence on Roshar showed up in the desolations which are thousands of years before the published Elantris novels based on most Cosmere thought/timelines I've seen. I suppose it's possible that Riina is that old, but I kind of doubt it (potential) Spoilers in this WoB
