I mean, come now, I am a Hemalurgic enthusiast after all. What did you expect Difficult to do, I'd think, but theoretically you could negate certain sounds by using destructive interference. That gives me another idea; 36. Use a Lightweaving to create an Anti-Tone to drive away Odium's minions. Better yet, make a super loud Anti-Tone Lightweaving or have hundreds of them working at once. I like this one as well. Very useful in the right circumstances. This seems a lot like some kind of trick Wit would play on some Lighteyes. . . Probably true, but still, it is theoretically possible to do with practice and enough Stormlight.

I do not recall that ever having been stated, only that those Forms do not provide a sex drive for the Singers/Listeners, meaning they don't use those Forms to procreate.
-
Perhaps, though I think that age may be linked more to Connection to your time of birth than Destiny. It also may be that Destiny is linked to one's natural talent, such as how Kaladin was highly talented with the spear and quickly gained greater aptitude with it despite his relative youth or Vin being such a competent Allomancer despite her relative lack of experience. This could potentially mean that Hemalurgic chromium could allow someone to steal talents from others, but this is purely hypothetical as of right now.

Wax mentions to Wayne in TLM that Wayne's spike must have been put in correctly, otherwise he'd just be in a whole lot of pain. Was that where it came from?
-
Mateform is specialized for procreation, but it and Slaveform do not seem to be the only Forms capable of doing so.
-
I fail to see how this WoB pertains to my previous questions. I was speaking of alloying the metal of the spike incorrectly after charging a valid metal, but this WoB is speaking solely about the placement of the spike.

I had previously dismissed the power of Lightweaving, feeling that it was much weaker compared to Soulcasting. After starting this list, I've changed my mind; this is now one of my favorite Surges. Anyone and everyone feel free to pitch in and get us to the full 101 trick 1. Conjure a box/block/blindfold over the head of an opponent in battle to blind them. They can’t pull it off but it will make them blind as any physical obstruction. 2. Conjure a small mouse/Cremling to scurry around and grab a guard’s attention so you can subtly sneak past. 3. Make an illusory wall to run past during a chase to evade enemies while making a double of yourself to continue running in your place. They’ll run right past your location and after the illusion instead. 4. Make an illusory double to confuse opponents in battle and to mislead others. 5. Make an illusory arm or pair of arms to make it look like your hand are where they should be instead of being up to no good (like pick pocketing someone). 6. Make six extra illusory arms with some added substance to let you wield eight knives at once. Nobody could possibly block all of them, and since they are also partially illusory they won’t necessarily require anatomical precision (they won’t get in each other’s way as easily). 7. Make an illusion of an item you swiped to help you get away with it. 8. Make visible patterns for sound waves for a concert. It will make the performance all the better. 9. Use a Lightweaving to make visible instructions for friends or students, making it easier to impart information. 10. Use a Lightweaving to make visual representations for phenomenon you can’t see, making them easier to track and measure. 11. Make a functional laser to slice enemies. Who needs a Shardblade when you can make a lightsaber? 12. Make an ear-splitting noise (like a Chasmfiend’s screaming head) to distract, deafen, and harm enemies. 13. Increase the volume of your voice to get other’s attention. 14. Change your apparel to look spiffy for a fancy dinner party when you really just want to wear pajamas. 15. Create a magnifying glass, telescope, or other mechanical device that works via manipulating light. Since it works my meddling with light, it would probably work just as well as a physical object. 16. Same as above but with a sound system, like a boom box. 17. Create a fully transparent glass window that has substance. It’s invisible, but will stop anyone dead in their tracks during a chase. 18. Make an attractive disguise to get others to listen to you better. 19. Same as above, but make yourself horrifying in appearance to remove attention from things you don’t want them looking at (as Shallan did with Kaladin in OB). 20. Make yourself appear as an eight-foot tall six-hundred-pound guy with tons of scars to intimidate opponents. 21. Same as above but add substance to really be able to hit as hard as you appear to be able. 22. Similar/same as above, but make a fake illusory body with substance overlapping your own to absorb blows that would otherwise hit you. 23. Make an illusory stack of cushions with substance to break your fall. 24. Make an actual illusory stack of cushions that an illusory double of you falls on to trick pursuers (and if they jump onto them hunting you, all the better). 25. Make a giant illusory spiderweb or net with substance to catch or trip up an enemy. 26. Use a lot of Lightweavings to make your house look presentable after you've "forgotten" to clean up before guests arrive. That's all I can come up with for now, but many, many more should be possible.

Challenge: All of Scadrial's people wish to work together to create the closest thing to a Fullborn to combat any potential threats to the planet right after the events of TLM. As this is era 2, only technology and magic available during that age can be used. No hypothetical abilities are allowed, so Hemalurgic spikes with multiples powers, Blanked Identities, or other things not yet confirmed via WoB or seen in the books are unavailable. I'd start with a natural steel/steel Twinborn for Compounding, as that's possibly one of the most broken combos available in the Metallic Arts and A-steel is a must have. Since medallions are finicky in what they can grant (seeming to only allow someone to either Tap or Store Feruchemical attributes), I'd give them five Hemalurgic spikes that provide A-pewter, A-tin, A-bronze, A-zinc (or brass), and A-duralumin. I'd then give them a Malwish medallion that provided F-gold, F-chromium, and F-iron. Additionally, I would give them a group of individual medallions that granted F-bronze, F-Bendalloy, F-cadmium, F-brass, F-duralumin, and F-copper. These metals either don't have to be used continually (F-bronze and Bendalloy can just be Tapped occasionally to get their benefit) or are more circumstantial in nature, so swapping them out with the primary medallion is more feasible. Finally, Harmonium cubes can be used to carry Allomantic effects, though the cube acts as the user of the Allomancy, making finesse control over the power difficult in most cases (i.e., can't direct Steelpushing or Emotional Allomancy selectively) and internal powers are pretty much useless for our purposes. With that in mind, A-copper, A-Bendalloy, A-chromium, and A-cadmium can all be nearly as useful (or even more so in cadmium's case) than if they were used by a true Allomancer. A-copper could still make a Coppercloud to conceal you and an aluminum helmet can play the part to shield from Emotional Allomancy, Bendalloy can still be activated on yourself even if you can't change the shape of the bubble, ranged chromium Allomancy is even better than normal, and cadmium is just way more effective when used on someone else in nearly every circumstance. All in all, this would grant our Metallic champion the effects of 20 separate metals, though they'd have to deal with the complications of the Flaw (though aluminum would certainly help), swapping certain medallions for circumstantial effects (such as if they need to breath underwater or travers a frozen mountain), filling those medallions with the attributes they needed (which is apparently more complicated that originally thought, as Wax comments on his people not having figured it out in TLM), and of course needing both Harmonium and Allomancers of the right types to fuel them. But hey, no wishy-washy hypotheses are required for it, and it should technically work as of era 2 tech.

Fascinating! Thanks! Right; you can only harvest from one Bindpoint at a time, but you could just spike multiple Metalborn people with Blanked Identities. I was under talking about the idea of pattern welding multiple metals together while keeping their individual contents largely (or entirely) pure, meaning that you wouldn't have to worry about the Investiture being trapped inside unable to be accessed. This does make me wonder; what if you Invested a Hemalurgic spike to the brim, then alloyed it to make its Investiture inaccessible? Would It still be able to rearrange the organs of its bearer to prevent death, but just not grant powers? Would attribute spikes alloyed- such as charged Koloss spikes turned steel- simply be unable to transform their bearers? Would such spikes still cause spiritual holes to be formed, even if they wouldn't grant actual power (maybe an evil Hemalurgist could use this to control people without needing to worry about giving them too much power to fight back)? More questions about this than a I thought there would be.

I was under the impression that Damascus steel was just layering multiple sheets of different metals together and forging them in such a way that you would get layers of different metals instead of getting a mix of all them together. It seems that you know more on this topic than I do. Can you elaborate on what Damascus steel is and how it's microscopic structure is unique? I disagree with this. It's the spike as a whole that takes from the Spiritweb, just like how objects are generally treated as whole selves rather than their separate components Realmatically speaking. That's why an object can't be half in and half out of a Speedbubble. That means a spike that contained two or more Hemalurgically viable metals should be capable of targeting two or more Hemalurgic abilities/attributes, regardless of what the tip is made out of. Fair enough conclusion. Perhaps coating a knife made of steel with a coating of aluminum would work better.

It's interesting to see that even temporary changes made to the Spiritweb can leave permanent changes to the Spiritwebs of a person's offspring. For example, we see this in the Koloss-blooded, where they retain a portion of their Koloss parent's strength, toughness, and altered genetic makeup. Listeners and Singers are capable of doing something similar with humans, being able to produce half human and half Listener/Singer children. Additionally, a Listener's or a Singer's Form is very similar to what Hemalurgy does, but in a more natural fashion. I think, therefore, that if a Listener or Singer had a different Form "equipped" that their offspring with a human would have effects from that Form, similar to how different Hemalurgic constructs should have different effects on their offspring. This could be part of why Horneaters and Herdazians have such different ethnicities (though it could also be due to more mundane reasons, such as being separate long enough to make distinct changes to their gene pools). As a side note, another interesting way that changes to the Spiritweb have been seen effecting offspring is due to Lighteyes; their Radiant ancestors had eyes that were only temporarily lightened, yet their children have a more permanent eye color change.

Damascus steel is pretty neat. It looks very pretty, and irl that's its primary purpose. But can it be used for more regarding the Metallic Arts? I've made the hypothesis before that it's possible to use a Hemalurgic spike to hold multiple powers, perhaps even having a spike that contained two metals to hold even more so long as they're of the same Hemalurgic quadrant (such as H-steel/H-pewter). Damascus metal could make the latter more possible, allowing multiple metals to be woven together as one object while retaining their individual properties. From their description, the Bands of Mourning seem to be a form of Damascus steel as well, having all sixteen Allomantic/Feruchemical metals blended into one Metalmind. It's possible that this was done instead of making sixteen separate Metalminds due to the interference they might have potentially caused to one another, meaning that Damascus metal may be useful for the creation of Unsealed Metalminds (and since the Malwish Consortium has the Bands now they may discover this property). And what about aluminum? It can prevent an object from being Pushed or Pulled on Allomantically, so could a steel knife, sword, or other blade with layers of pure aluminum in it prevent those Invested manipulations while retaining their structural integrity from the steel?

Largely Baseless Theory: F!Electrum will prove quite useful
Trusk'our replied to Stormtide_Leviathan's topic in Mistborn
You put it in a quote, not a spoiler box -
I mean, we technically haven't finished listing all possible Twinborn combos yet (as far as I know), so I wouldn't count it as dead yet.

That's certainly an interesting idea, but @Ookla the Windwhisperer is right. There just isn't any solid evidence for it as of right now, and we do know already from the Ars Arcanum that storing Determination puts you into a depressed state and that tapping it puts you into an energetic, manic state. That sounds a lot like determination to me. The affects you propose should be possible though, just through different means. If you wish to grant Intent to others without them needing to train, the Coppermind coins like the one Wax found should do the trick. If you want to make someone tap or store Feruchemically, you can force them to do so with the Flaw present in Hemalurgy with enough spikes, perhaps use a spike endowed with a Command to pressure them into a certain action when attached to their Spiritweb, or maybe even use a Chromium spike to alter their Destiny and more subtly alter their choices/preferences. If you wish to strip others of their ability to use their powers, a Harmonium device using A-chromium could work. -

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Now I can someday look more into that and become a better artist That's a really cool way to look at it. I've always had a little trouble motivating myself to draw; I really like it when I finish drawing something halfway decent (according to my own limited drawing ability, of course), but I often find it hard to start, particularly when I can't think up something to draw (and only 1 out of 5 of my drawings is even something I consider halfway decent). But perhaps you have a point, where I should use other's art as inspiration to draw some neat things for practice. Thank you for that Um. . . technically yes, but it's not very good. Just some pencil drawings in the Mistborn gallery.

Hemalurgy and the clinically insane.
Trusk'our replied to Tamriel Wolfsbaine's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm honored by your invitation friend That's an interesting question. For the most part, I'd say that, yes, he'd leave you alone to your own devices even if you were pierced with Hemalurgy and open to his influence or even straight up control. But he's still got a human-ish mind and has clear preferences for how he believes things should be done, even if they typically involve him not directly interfering. That means there are definitely going to be situations where Sazed would take control of you if he truly wanted to and he was able, such as when Bleeder went rogue and abandoned her contract with him and started murdering people, or if the Set members opened themselves up too much. So I'd say you'd mostly be safe from Harmony's control as a Hemalurgist, even one who went against his direct will (in most non worlds ending cases), though there is always some possibility he won't leave you alone. Especially with Discord on the rise. . . Yes. Trellium spikes seem to block Harmony's influence altogether (and other Shards that aren't Autonomy), even preventing him from knowing your location. Aluminum in sufficient amounts around your head or body should achieve a similar effect, and post era 2 this should be a much more viable option. It's also possible that Investing yourself enough would make you effectively immune to the Flaw as well. Perhaps, though it depends on whether the Shard truly can only exert a certain amount of Investiture on the Spiritweb of the Hemalurgist through the cracks made by their spikes. If it is indeed limited, yes, enough Breaths should theoretically be able to negate their influence. If not, no, a Shard's influence cannot be stopped through this method. I'm leaning strongly towards the former, as that is the most logical possibility in my mind. -
Okay, perhaps you have a point I was imagining doing this very thing, making weaker Metalborn from normal people, but I see your point; the remaining power they have may be so weak that it's effectively nonfunctional even if it technically exists. I think that it depends on other factors however, such as how much of an Investiture difference there actually is between a muggle Scadrien and the standard Allomancer, so I wouldn't completely rule this out as a viable option until we have more information. Welp, I'm not sure how we managed to miss these for so long considering we had multiple debates over how this works, but I'm glad it's confirmed now. Thank you for finding them. That sounds like a very reasonable theory to me, and a possible way to make non-Allomancer's Investiture into functioning powers, even if you're still limited in who specifically can get that power. You mean like how we talked about adding Connection to the SR via Hemalurgy might be able to in that one other thread?

This post was inspired by @JustQuestin2004's thread on turning anyone into a Mistborn. I felt the need to continue their just quest of finding out this answer, at least in some way. We know that it's possible to make Scadriens Snap, even if they don't have a lot of Innate Investiture and wouldn't Snap normally. That's what the Mists did, after all. However, it seems that doing this requires there to be more trauma involved, more cracks in the Spiritweb to let Preservation's power rise to the forefront and function as intended. Additionally, when the Mists Snapped people they raised the level of Innate Investiture in them slightly to aid the process. I hypothesize that to Snap any Scadrien you must fulfill these requirements then. I believe that there may be multiple ways to do this. First off, if you were to use a Hemalurgic spike with a Command specifically meant to crack open the Spiritweb wider, but also meant to increase the person's Innate Investiture (specialized Command on a nicrosil spike charged from a single non Allomancer, probably with a Blanked Identity to make it more compatible with the would be Allomancer). This would create cracks in the Spiritweb large enough to Snap the potential Allomancer and would increase their Investiture enough to make it more viable. After they've Snapped, you can probably remove the spike and recycle it to Snap someone else, which is pretty convenient. It's also possible that the spike's own contents are now programmed to the new Allomancer's power though, which may prevent this, but you would have a new power spike and an independently functioning Allomancer, even though both would have a below average power level. It's also possible that if you use a Hemalurgic spike to add it their Investiture you won't get the standard of Allomancy, but may instead get a Ruin-fueled version of it, a mixed version, or maybe end up with Feruchemy instead as it is a mix of Ruin and Preservation. Perhaps an Unsealed Nicrosilmind could allow one to increase their base level of Investiture instead of needing a spike, removing this complication, but a trauma inducing spike would likely still be required for the Snapping part. The second idea is that you increase the Scadrien's Connection to Preservation instead of Investiture, then trying to Snap them. This could be achieved either with Hemalurgic duralumin or Feruchemical medallion shenanigans, Connecting you to the Shard of Preservation in the attempt to make a spiritual bridge between you and it so that it can suffuse your Spiriweb more when you try to Snap yourself. You also may just want to increase both Innate Investiture and Connection to Preservation in the person, though I figured I'd start with the possibilities that require the least work. It also may be possible, based on this new WoB, to at least temporarily access the Metallic Arts by Blanking Identity and tapping massive quantities of Connection to Preservation through medallion technology, though this may not lead to a permanent power manifesting and would require the proper Intent (which requires specific knowledge). It might just let you pull in the Mists, however, and maybe raise your Allomantic potential, though this is highly theoretical and would also probably require a specific Intent. SA spoilers
-
You mean this WoB? If Brandon has finally made up his mind and made it canonical that a Kandra and a human can have a kid together and that kid is a "combination", I think that- Warbreaker spoilers: So a half-Kandra could probably do some shapeshifting and perhaps live longer than a human, but they couldn't do it to the same extent as a true Kandra. They may not inherit all the Kandra's weakness either though, such as being extra susceptible to the Hemalurgic Flaw or needing Hemalurgic spikes to function, kind of like how Koloss-blooded people still get some perks from their heritage but don't need spikes to function. I think that there's a good chance that the type of Blessing of the Kandra had could influence the child's abilities as well. It's possible that this isn't the case however, and only the physical/innate magical properties of the Kandra are passed down.

Nice to see another Shard member! Welcome! Have you read all the Cosmere books?
-
Nice! My favorite series has to be era 2 Mistborn (hopefully era 3 will succeed it ), though a large part of that is how is builds upon era 1 in such a constructive way. My favorite magic system has to be Hemalurgy because of all the crazy things you can imagine doing with it, though Allomancy's and Feruchemy's interactions are also quite fun to play around with.

The only planet that comes to mind is Sel, which has a 1.2 Cosmere standard for gravity. SA spoilers:
