  1. Yeah, it would definitely be easier to just make iron and steel mechanically the same but thematically different, but I feel that there must be some differences in the two (though honestly, Allomantic zinc and brass are going to be more or less the same, as that's how they're used in the books). Oh yeah, definitely. I also plan on making an optional feat that improves it however, making Steel/Ironsight more comprehensive. I do want to mention that Wax uses his Steelpushing to make a defensive bubble, so Allomantic steel definitely has some defensive properties as well. Hmmm, using iron to draw projectiles away from allies? That could be a useful, but steel can push away projectiles too. Perhaps one of the benefits to using iron could be that you could make a dexterity check and grab the item you Pulled away from someone to use yourself? True. I feel that I usually only think about steel and forget about iron. I'd honestly really like to see a Lurcher as a main character just so that we can get an idea of how they can use their abilities creatively. Also true; iron is, in the books, far more location dependent than steel, which becomes an issue if a player always wants to choose one over the other.
  2. As I've been working on a Mistborn adaptation for D&d, I've been trying to balance Allomantic iron's and Allomantic steel's abilities. Problem is, I find this very, very hard to do. Any ideas for how Allomantic iron can be better in certain situations?
  3. We've seen in RoW that you can use Tones to merge two types of Investiture. Could you perhaps make Harmonium less reactive by "calming" it with the right Tones, merging them more completely or competently? Perhaps then you could discover its Allomantic and Feruchemical properties.
  4. Oooo, also maybe you could store with F-steel simultaneously, as it should slow down the body's need for air, food, and water. And of course, you get some free physical speed too, which is useful.
  5. Interesting. This does make sense, and honestly would be really awesome to see. Warbreaker spoilers:
  6. Nice. Mine's got to be Hemalurgy because of all the crazy things you might be able to do with it, but Feruchemy's my second favorite; I just love the idea of being able to save up attributes for later and then releasing it in a rush of power. Allomancy's my third favorite, as there are some cool things you can do with Allomantic pewter, steel, iron, bronze, and of course, duralumin
  7. Welcome friend! I hope to see more of your presence on the Shard! It can't possibly be worse than any of my drawings, so I'd say you have nothing to be embarrassed about By the way, what's your favorite magic system and why?
  8. Feruchemical bronze has to be one of the least utilized powers of the Metallic Arts (at least to me). So I decided to dedicate a little more time to it. One thing I've wondered about is whether you could use Feruchemical bronze to store certain sections of sleep. For example, could you store only time spent in REM sleep so as to make it need to last longer and therefore have more dreams? Another thing I've realized after reading this WoB; F-bonze isn't necessarily good just because you can sleep longer at one time to need less sleep later, but because you can choose exactly when you fall asleep (or, theoretically, maybe even when you wake up). Having worked part time as a night guard before, I can honestly say that it's quite rough on the body; half the week your sleep schedule is the same as everyone else's, the other half you're staying up till 8 AM and sleeping till dinner time- which didn't really work well for me, as my circadian rhythm takes about 5 days to truly reset, so I was always sleepy no matter what I did. But F-bronze would negate any such hassle even without needing to store a whole bunch of restfulness for later. This could also be useful to make yourself get the most out of your sleep when going on a road trip (NOT in the driver's seat), flying on a plane, or sleeping on an otherwise uncomfortable piece of ground when camping. Since F-bronze can also store the effects of caffeine, you could change your mind after taking too much and store it so that you calm down. This line of thought also made me wonder if you could Tap it to shrug off the effects of a knockout drug and get the drop on your assailant. Perhaps if you released a gas that made people fall asleep you could shrug off the effects and take out your opponents while they were unconscious. According to Psychology Today, napping has various physical and mental benefits, ranging from an improved mood to better memorization to more energy and focus. So Tapping 15 minutes or so of wakefulness every once and a while doing other projects could probably let you benefit from these perks. Any other ideas on how to utilize F-bronze?
  9. Huh. Does this mean that Savants- at least Compounding Savants- are able to carry around some extra Investiture in the Spiritweb itself for later use? That seems pretty interesting, particularly if one could find a way to expand that mechanic further.
  10. Vin was able to burn trace metals in the water she drank and from utensils she ate with for Allomancy. My wondering was, could a Feruchemist do something similar? Could a Feruchemist who was captured and had their Metalminds taken from them use a pinch of trace metal in their body to store an attribute and then Tap it in order to escape (i.e. a Brute saving just enough strength to bust the bars/door of their prison)? Also, it had eluded me for a while how Miles survived at the end of AoL, as it seemed that his Metalminds were all taken. While it's possible that this was just from a better hidden Metalmind or Autonomy's intervention, could it also have been from traces of gold in his system?
  11. Oh yeah, Feruchemical steel is super-duper busted as we understand it right now. I mean, realistically all superspeed would be, it's just portrayed very inaccurately in most superhero films in order to balance things out.
  12. Sounds fun! I haven't read all of the Cytoverse books yet though, so maybe I'll hold off until I don't have to worry about spoiling anything for myself.
  13. The effects of using Allomantic gold have been described as being "emotionally stressful" and can be quite jarring to the Auger. My question is, does this emotional stress cause cracks in the Spiritweb at all? After all, those that are mentally unstable are able to have Shards and Cognitive Shadows communicate with them, so would an Auger who used their powers on occasion be susceptible to this?
  14. Alleyverse? What's that? Most of the good combos have already been mentioned, but I think that F-bonze could prove useful to a detective character that wants to work through several nights in peak condition to catch their suspect. F-electrum could similarly let one push through their normal limits, but you would still need to sleep eventually. Perhaps it would be better to "stay in the zone" for shorter periods of time though. F-chromium could lead one to stumble on more clues, or maybe even straight up walk up on the culprit themselves.
  15. There have been threads that have talked about Feruchemical electrum before, but some good points were made as to its limitations; you can't realistically expect to use it all the time (you have to store it to Tap it, after all), and having a maniacal sense of determination can only get you so far. So, in what ways could you Tap determination to get the most out of it? 1. Forming positive habits: I know from personal experience that it can be very hard to start good habits, as anything worthwhile takes effort. However, if one could choose to Tap some determination right before a workout, avoiding overeating at mealtime for a diet, or starting your homework early, it could be massively beneficial, especially since you wouldn't need to do this forever as after you had formed the habit you would no longer need as much determination to keep it going. 2. Getting "in the zone": it can take between 20 - 90 minutes to enter the Flow state when focusing on a task. I'm not sure if Tapping determination would make this faster or whether it merely makes it emotionally easier to start and keep up the task, but at the very least you could Tap determination to help get started on a task, then slowly wean yourself of the artificial boost once you've achieved proper focus. I imagine this would take some real practice to do as you'll naturally be focused on the task you're currently working on, but it could be a worthwhile skill for a Pinnacle Ferring. 3. Resisting addictions: just as Tapping determination can make it easier to form good habits, I'm sure it can help when trying to break down bad ones, particularly addictive behaviors. As someone who's been a close friend of a recovering addict (I will give no more details in this area), I know it can be so, so very hard to separate yourself from such a self-destructive behavior, but when you're about doing your daily stuff it's not nearly so hard. However, there are times that come where temptations to indulge in your addiction becomes, unfortunately, more available (or a craving simply come up unexpectantly), making it very hard to resist giving in. This is where Tapping determination would come in handy, as you mostly just need to resist until the urge fades away, and it will get easier to resist in due time. Anyway, are there any more tactics for Tapping determination that people can share?
  16. The third WoB made it sound like it would be easier than moving a mountain or requiring the Well of Ascension. It would still be very, very hard but maybe someone with Rashek's level of Investiture could do it with a determined Flaring push or with duralumin thrown into the mix (plus, this WoB's from 2014, not 2012, and it directly from Brandon himself, so it may be more trustworthy).
  17. Same here, though I imagine that Lord Ruler, Bands of Mourning, or A-duralumin with an entire stomach full of steel/iron levels of power would be necessary to even nudge one.
  18. Feruchemy's got to be my second favorite after Hemalurgy. I think that both have so much powerful potential when used in the correct manner, and both have creative hacks to be exploited (which are fun to think up ).
  19. Indeed. I'd personally love to see Feruchemical zinc, electrum, chromium, duralumin, aluminum, nicrosil, pewter, and steel be used by viewpoint characters. Then we'd have a better idea of what they can and cannot do.
  20. Well, for one, it would get people to rebel against you, possibly leading to your untimely demise. . . which sort of defeats the purpose of getting the Breaths in the first place. It's also possible that many of the other regions around Nalthis have religious or cultural taboos against transferring Breath. After all (if I remember correctly), Awakening has only been a thing for about 400 years before the events of Warbreaker, which means that Hallandren may be the only nation on Nalthis up to this point to see the real potential of Breath. Although, you have a point; it feels like there should be more people who hunt after Breaths with more vigor than we've seen on screen. Perhaps they do exist, but Hallandren authorities don't take kindly to this as they know of its existence (plus, it would be rather hard to hide the extra Breath from someone who was looking for it).
  21. Thanks so much for your feedback! Yes, I think I need to sculpt my words a bit better and streamline it more. Good point. Nice! I like the way you implemented the Flaring for Steel. I will say though, part of what I'm trying to go for with this is a separation of the powers from class. I think I'll make a few simple classes to use instead of the twelve to thirteen you normally see, with a greater focus on customizing powers and skills than class features. Oh yeah, this was just a rough draft I wanted to share and get some feedback on. Also, yes, I'd love to see your method of integrating Mistborn into a D&d setting; I could learn a lot and get some good ideas. Thanks so much for your thoughts, I really appreciate it
  22. Well, we know that they can survive on a mixture of algae and fungus that humans can't, though they don't like it. My current assumption is that they can convert any digestible substance into any other biological tissue (except for bone, enamel, and keratin) that they need, including for shapeshifting, though meat may just be easier. They wouldn't be able to survive on the algae and fungus for long otherwise, since their bodies would eventually deteriorate.
  23. True, that could be a possibility. I suppose you might just have to learn to function despite the loss of determination, which could be useful (though difficult) in its own right.
  24. Oh yeah, didn't Shai brake a Samp on her own body before? So perhaps you could do that in order to remove it sooner. I still don't know if I understand your thought process though. If the reason for making the original stamp is to make you more proficient at crafting the following stamp, wouldn't you want it to last a while? It takes Shai nearly 100 days to craft a Soul Stamp, and she's a master. I don't say this to discourage your reasoning, I merely wish to understand better.
  25. TLM and ToES spoilers:
