  1. I can't find the WoB at the moment, but I recall there being one that said she'd have to actually use the Well's Investiture before she became a Sliver. She was a Sliver after drawing on the Mists at the end of HoA and holding the Shard of Preservation, but not before, so she wouldn't have that knowledge from what I understand. True, but he was being under the constant effect of Ruin's presence for over 1,000 years and he was pierced by Atium- Ruin's Godmetal (and Trellium hints that being peirced by a Godmetal helps Connect you to that Shard). So I'm not convinced that he's a great example either. Plus, we have a WoB stating that being a Sliver does help resist the Flaw; But in the end, being a Sliver probably isn't that important except for staying alive as a Cognitive Shadow.
  2. Slivers have some residual knowledge of the magic systems associated with the Investiture they held, are more Invested than normal (though clearly not that Invested if they still age) and are more resistant to direct Shardic influence (which may just be a result of their extra Investiture, or perhaps extra strong Connections). Mostly, it's just kind of cool that they get all those permanent benefits more or less for free, no spikes necessary. . . plus, those benefits seem particularly useful to Hemalurgists (Hemalurgic knowledge and resistance to the Flaw), so. . . yeah, that's why I've been so interested in this particular topic
  3. yeah, the tests aren't 100% accurate, I believe. At least, you can join and fit in with multiple Orders of Radiants- it's not a hard-set rule that you'd only fit one. I would think that if you really want to know which Order you'd do best in though is to look at the attributes they aspire for and to ask yourself if that's what you need in yourself. Not necessarily what you want, but what you need to grow and become better as a person. Only you can answer that question (though asking people who know and care about you for their advice sometimes can help you figure out any points you may have missed in self-reflection ).
  4. Are we sure about that? I was under the impression that Burning a metal Invested you, and you then directed the Investiture to bring about an effect. I don't think it is possible to wield the majority of a Shard's power- I would argue that not even Vessels can do that; Though, I do see your point with the Well; simply trying to hack the system through Compounding or A-duralumin bursts with massive chunks of metal probably isn't going to do the trick of becoming a Sliver.
  5. 1. Be born a regular joe schmo during era 2 Mistborn and stumble across knowledge of Hemalurgy through the Set, Sliverism (maybe; they do worship Ironeyes, after all), or some other way. 2. Use Hemalurgically granted F-aluminum and F-nicrosil plus one other power of your choice. Blank the Identity of the spikes and store the power of the third spike in a Nicrosilmind for later use. Repeat this process, trading out the third spike for other spikes with all the other Metalborn powers. Now you effectively have a new version of the Bands of Mourning, possibly Keyed to your own personal Identity if F-aluminium lets you pick and choose with enough skill (so that nobody can just steal them from you). 3. Ditch the F-aluminum and F-nicrosil spikes; they were useful for making your Fullborn Metalminds, but now just take spike slots that can be used for other powers (okay, maybe hide them in an aluminum box for later use, just in case). 4. Travel to other planets in the Cosmere (doesn't really matter too much which ones. You'll be visiting all of them eventually) and continue to gather powers, adding them to your arsenal. 5. Make sure to keep your secret of gathering power away from rivals but dole out Unsealed Metalminds at your discretion to your most devote followers to become a leader of an Invested entourage. Build an army this way. 6. Use your army of Invested warriors to conquer and build a nation that can support you as their god-king, becoming a new Lord Ruler, and use the society to back you up with more resources. Now you are Rashek, but better, with planetary conquering capabilities.
  6. Eh, I don't know that you'd need that much metal to become a Sliver, though you'd need a lot. Far more than would be possible in practical application (so I don't see it really happening anytime soon. Probably ever, actually), though a continent's worth seems a bit overkill to me. Another possibility for becoming a Sliver; what if you had a really, really large chunk of Allomantically viable metal that you pierced your body with, then burned with duralumin to use up all at once?
  7. Hello @Steelsight! I haven't heard your presence on the Shard for a while. Is everything alright friend?

  8. I see you changed your profile picture. It looks interesting! :)👍

    Maybe I should update mine sometime. . .

    1. Edema Rue

      Edema Rue

      Thanks!! Hehe, it’s one of my rp characters.

      If you want to, go right ahead :lol:

  9. A Sliver is created when a person wields enough Investiture. It doesn't have to be full Shard, just a lot, such as from the Well of Ascension. I suspect that if an organization (or someone like Rashek with superpowered Compounding) were to find a way to fill a huge Metalmind (100-1,000 tons amount of metal) to the brim with Investiture, someone could tap it and expand themselves into Sliverhood. This would be hard to do (and probably not worth doing for most cases), but I think it's hypothetically possible with enough Compounding (or enough Identity-Blanked Feruchemists working in unison over a long enough period of time) and enough metal. What do you guys think?
  10. In the "101 Kandra Tricks" thread I came up with the idea that you could have a Kandra graft parts of themself onto a human, similar to what was done with Marasi in BoM, and how Ulaam offered to swap some of her body parts for others. So, what could be done with these grafts? 1. Health and medicine: a Kandra could graft parts of their own flesh to a human or other creature, allowing them to patch and repair immediate wounds (such as with Marasi) or perhaps to even replace permanently damaged body parts, such as a broken spinal cord or replace a lost limb (though artificial bones would need to be provided). 2. Plastic surgery: if a Kandra's services could be hired out, I could totally see them being willing to alter the appearance of someone, making them more attractive (future Scadrial might have some nobles/famous individuals that look awfully like Returned) or creating disguises for friends (or fugitives of the law, depending on the Kandra's disposition). 3. Bodily upgrades: a more utility based type of graft may include organs that operate at a higher capacity (stronger, denser muscles or perhaps just more added on), a higher quality of blood (perhaps for better oxygenation of muscles and other organs), better eyes or other sensory organs, or maybe bodies that can automatically use some healing function similar to that of Kandra themselves (Perhaps this is what Ulaam's salve was- a liquified portion of his own body that was meant to stick to and copy another's flesh, healing them at an exceptional rate. It would probably be more difficult to make this permanent function, but hey, we're theorizing here.) It's also possible that there could be non-Kandra implants/grafts, such as Metalminds, Harmonium tech, or cybernetics that could be embedded in the body, but a Kandra surgeon could rearrange organs and heal the body of the patient to make the process much safer and more flexible (like a cleaner, less damaging version of Hemalurgy). 4. Age-reduction: if a Kandra could find all the tiny flaws and damage done to the body of a human through age, I see no reason they couldn't eat and replace those parts with new, healthy tissue (particularly since they have such an intimate understanding of biology down to the cellular level, as shown by Bleeder in SoS). This would be different from Atium Feruchemy, as it's a permanent physical change, not a temporary physical change that would snap back after the Kandra disconnects from the human (or other creature). This would be particularly interesting form of immortality to see, as it brings some other questions to mind; how would the human's body act to having all of its parts removed and replaced over time (ship of Theseus situation)? What about the human's mind, which is not augmented by the process to endure centuries or millennia of life?
  11. Nice! Welcome to the Shard friend!
  12. I've literally only ever seen A-meta, F-metal, and H-metal. Those other make sense, but I feel like we usually don't need them, as when we talk about Hemalurgy granting those powers we typically just refer to them as those powers.
  13. Copper Allomancy doesn't entirely make sense to me- it seems to smother the rippling effect created by Kinetic Investiture and simultaneously can smother the effects of Emotional Allomancy on the Smoker. That sounds a lot like if someone were to suck the energy out of soundwaves you could deaden the sound it would make. . . only, you can pierce a Coppercloud with sufficiently strong A-bronze, making the cloud useless. I see two possible explanations for this; 1. A Coppercloud makes a sort of bubble, similar to A-Bendalloy or Cadmium, and within that bubble the Copper actively hides the Pulses made by Kinetic Investiture, but does not actually remove them. A sufficiently strong Seeker can pierce this cloud however, allowing them to sense the Pulses hidden within. 2. The second (and I feel more likely) explanation is that a Smoker is actually absorbing the Pulses of nearby Kinetic Investiture (if I recall correctly, this is how Vin describes it when she senses Copper being burned), but the Smoker is not strong enough to absorb all of the Pulses, meaning that a strong enough Seeker can still potentially sense Pulses through the Cloud. This also could be why they are immune to Emotional Allomancy and why they could theoretically shield other as well (WoB)- they absorb the waves of Investiture that emanate from the Soother/Rioter, preventing it from ever reaching its target. If #2 is true, I think it may be possible to become a strong enough Smoker (via Hemalurgy, F-nicrosil, or external Investiture reserves) to make it impossible to sense any Pulses no matter how strong the Seeker. For example, let's say a Smoker with ten times the strength you'd normally find is strong enough to completely absorb all Pulses from regular powered Allomancy (stronger use of Investiture is easier to detect). Even if a Seeker with one hundred times the strength of that Smoker was to attempt to pierce their Coppercloud, there would be nothing to detect, so they'd sense nothing.
  14. There is a WoB that states that if you were to remove the Breaths from someone that kept them young, they would probably revert to the age they should have been; This has started making me wonder, is it possible for people who receive Breaths when they are old to reverse their appearance to that of being younger as well as feeling younger? After all, it's possible for people with enough Investiture to change their body's appearance to what they feel it should be, so maybe it's possible for Breaths too. Yumi spoilers;
  15. In RoW, Rlain teaches the humans that it is possible to use Stormlight and a specific Rhythm to make Lifespren encourage the growth of plants. But could more be done? What if you had a bunch of Flamespren and a large ruby filled with Stormlight, then used a specific Rhythm to encourage them to start fires? Maybe not the most directly dangerous weapon, but it would be pretty interesting and could cause chaos amongst your enemies.
  16. Neat! Welcome to the Shard! I'm thinking of posting some ideas for MAG games at some point (can't promise when I'll do so though), so if you spot it feel more than welcome to include anything in them!
  17. Interesting. Welcome to the Shard by the way!
  18. Yes. We came up with them on the Shard to make it easier to post them instead of needing to say Feruchemical or Hemalrugic or Allomantic before every metal for clarification.
  19. Perhaps, though being implanted in a body should prevent accidental decay.
  20. My thoughts exactly. More slight Warbreaker spoilers;
  21. Makes sense to me. Well, I'm convinced
  22. Same here; Mistborn the Final Empire was my first Sanderson book and it really made me come to love the Cosmere, which is one of the reasons Scadrial is my favorite world in the Cosmere. It's stories are also my favorite too; I love the setting, the characters, the worldbuilding, the actions scenes, the emotional scenes, and the magic system is amazing. Nice! @Koloss17 started a thread talking about all the Feruchemical metals and there's a lot that can be done with each one. I think my favorite magic system has to be Hemalurgy though, because it's powerful but has good balancing mechanisms, and there's just so many interactions that can be done with it and they're fun to come up with.
  23. Welcome to the Shard friend! What's your favorite aspect of Mistborn? Also, what's your favorite Metallic Art?
  24. I found this WoB and it got me thinking; This question was mostly meant to answer whether regular Bio-Chromatic Breaths were vulnerable to Hemalrugic transfer, but it also hints that Hemalurgy may be able to take Kinetic Investiture, such as that which is being used to fuel Allomancy or Surgebinding. There's a good chance this isn't true (as the WoB is from 2015), but if it is true, I think it could lead to some interesting stuff. I think that if you could take Kinetic Investiture via H-nicrosil you could potentially siphon off an Allomancer's Investiture as they burned a metal (embedding the spike in them and letting it continually strip them of the Investiture as it is drawn from the SR), similar to how Feruchemy can siphon off attributes for later use (could also be used instead of A-chromium to Leech someone). You may be able to implant the spike into someone else (or spike your own Investiture for later use, simply keeping the spike imbedded in yourself and using the proper Intent or Command) to give them access to a ready to use reservoir of power that they could use in leu of metals to burn, kind of like how a Surgebinder has their Stormlight in their body ready to use in the amount they want or how Marasi was able to absorb and direct Unkeyed Dor in the amount that she wanted- no limitations of burn rate involved. This could be another possible hack for augmenting Allomancy, allowing for great bursts of power that can be sustained longer and in a more stable fashion than with A-duralumin.
  25. Do we know that you're spiking the "power" from the Spren? The Connection and perhaps Identity of the Radiant makes total sense, but I don't know that we know for sure whether taking a Spren's Bond would actually require a power-stealing spike, a nicrosil spike, or something else. I originally said taking the Spren's raw Investiture, but that was a bit misleading. I really meant to take some component of the Spren's Spiritweb that lets people gain Invested powers from it (sorry).
