Sibling "Devices" on Aimia and Horneater Peaks?
Eternal Khol replied to Gingeriffic!'s topic in Stormlight Archive
i feel like the hotsprings started out natural then became Perpendicularities I think I remember reading somewhere(dawnshard maybe) just a few days ago that implied it was multiple peaks/pools close together -
WoB is they were looking for Elhokar’s spren which Hoid found and bonded in the epilogue Thats a perpendicularity. Also confirmed in WoB
-
I would definitely grab Endowment or Cultivation. No doubt Which would you choose?
-
Okay, what is Adonalism’s name is edgli planning?
Eternal Khol replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Thats exactly how i view it. Adding/grafting Investiture to your soul is making you ever so slighly more divine. And with that divinity comes, lets say, enhancements is there a WoB saying breath can be stored in a nicrisolmind? Breaths aren’t really part of the soul. You cant spike someones breath out of them.(except when its kinetic i.e. in the middle of being transferred to a object or person) they can be used to store Divine Breath -
I thought brandon said that each part was supposed to culminate in their own little climax? that was rather anticlimactic, as far as this novels been going so far
-
That means that the third magic system is even less understood/practiced than the voidbindings(which we still hardly know anything about) It must be a pretty small group of people.(my guess is cultivations magic)

I didn’t say it was a Dawnshard, just that something was odd. Leras should not have been able to talk to Kell. Sorry for assuming that you were talking about a Dawnshard.... in the Dawnshard forum... in a Dawnshard discussion topic
-
Theyre such minor changes, i dont even know why you bother. they usually just do updated chapter headings, maybe find and remove a couple typos. Maybe include a deleted scene at the very end of the novel... the Eleantris leatherbound includes “the mad prince” and Hoid deleted scenes(which did get updated into the ebook version.but thats it) If they do update the ebook to match the leatherbounds, the only differences will be a couple less typos and a deleted scene(if there is something like that in the leatherbound) im not sure when theyd get around to it. But they usually do these things pretty fast

I like your points a lot. but i just looked and Leras even says it was him “And remember … remember what I told you, so long ago.… Do what I cannot, Kelsier.… SURVIVE.” 1. There doesn't have to be any peronal meaning, to tell someone close to death, to “survive” 3. with kelsier so beaten and broken, preservation mustve been able to get a single Command(mind the pun XD) through 4. Leras didnt snap Kelsier. The trauma of watching his wife get beaten to death is what snapped him. That and probably the pain of all the cuts on his arms from searching for Atium. I just kinda planted myself on the “it not being a dawnshard” side, but the more i think about it, the more i like it. Its simple, yet clear and powerful, with a clear meaning.
-
But that was just Leras wasnt it? if you read secret history, theres another time Leras directly tells kelsier to “SURVIVE” and Kelsier(ascended as preservation) tells spook to “SURVIVE”

Interesting bit of info about Aethers from a new WoB
Eternal Khol replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Aether of Night
Theres this one. Quite ambiguous. he’s either saying that this person is on a "planet A" and he’s geographically close the a lot of the Aethers. of he’s saying that the person is on a "planet b"(which is close to planet a) while “planet a” has a lot of the Aethers Thats what i was thinking. And Brandon probably has a couple new Aethers in store that might be more focused on nature or maybe its not even the Aethers themselves that are the nature part, and there are other things -
Interesting bit of info about Aethers from a new WoB
Eternal Khol replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Aether of Night
Interesting. Thats not the first WoB to make it sound like Aethers are a multiple planet thing. I have a feeling that “aether” is just a generalization like the word “bug” one word to describe a variety of things. Maybe the nature part has to do with the sources of the Aethers?(if thats still a thing) maybe they’re a natural part of their world(s)(we know they might be pre-shattering so it makes sense)and humans just found them and what they can do. And so started bonding them. -
If we look at the Commands like Commands used in Warbreaker. There is actually lots of parallels. to Awaken, you need a Command(kinda like what you want done or to happen) and the Intent(kinda like the instructions to fulfill the command) A Command(in Awakening) is generally more like a vague description of what you want done(i.e. “fetch keys”) You combine that Command with the visualization(the intent in this case) of the awakened item walking to where the keys are and grabbing them and heading back to you. maybe the Commands(dawnshards) are like the “generality”(wrong word?) of what Ado wanted, and the Shards Intents, are the means by which this is accomplished One Dawnshard Commands “Change” And the Intent of Ruin or Cultivation may be one of the means by which this Change occurs. Doesnt it seem weird that all the pieces of Ado weve seen so far have been just like parts of his Cognitive aspect? The Commands are what he desired. The Intents are the way he view certain things.(Ruin is the way he viewed entropy) i have a suspicion that Ado was too influenced by peoples perceptions or something like that and that why they shattered him. or that his will needed to be separate from his power. Investiture follows Commands(right?) and all Investiture itself has a “certain spin or magnetism” which is the different Intents i wish i was smarter, i could probably glean something out of that Lol i was going somewhere with that, but it totally left my brain halfway through. someone please expand XD Brandon said in regards to awakening that “intention rather than really what you say is what matters” which is pretty much “Intent matters more than the Command” i wonder if that applies to the Dawnshards. I think it would. just some random thoughts.

Official Dawnshard Reaction Thread
Eternal Khol replied to Truthless of Shinovar's topic in Stormlight Archive
I never really liked lopen until this novella. I never really particularly disliked him, i just wasn't of match with his personality. but i have a lot more respect for him after reading Dawnshard. and omg, i thought Rua was just a little miniature Lopen, but I absolutely fell in love after Lopen’s decription of him as a “Flying chull with wings” XD -
How Did It Get Here And Other Questions
Eternal Khol replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thats how ive been imagining them. i feel like the commands are literally capable of just doing almost anything, with less thought than a Shard and less restraint. With the Dawnshards, You’re not bound by the rules of Ado or investiture the way a Shard is(the only “rules” are the rules of the magic systems that you use in conjunction with the Dawnshards). I feel like someone holding a Dawnshard should be capable of things no shard could ever do, simply because holding a Dawnshard doesnt bind you in the way a Shard does. conversely, i dont want to think about what would happen if a Vessel/Shard became a Dawnshard too(if possible) -
The “weapon” was Dalinar himself. the way i see it is, Dalinar becoming Odiums champion was a sure thing. If cultivation had done nothing, he would have definitely become Odium’s champion. But... If she “pruned” him, that chance was still there, but now there was a small chance, that when the time came, Dalinar would defy Odium instead when Dalinar went to Cultivation, she saw that Dalinar was Odium’s. But she saw something, so she took a chance and “pruned” him. Which if it worked(would stop Dalinar from becoming Odium’s Champion. And if it didnt work, Cultivation would still have a piece of, presumably, Dalinar soul in case things got out of control and Dalinar needed to be dealt with) keeping a “part of him” is just how Cultivation works. She doesn’t make any moves without having a good backup in place

“The Dawnshards are Commands, Rysn. The will of a god. The most powerful forms of Surgebinding transcend traditional mortal understanding, All their greatest applications require Intent and a Command. Demands on a level no person could ever manage alone. To make such Commands, one must have the reasoning—the breadth of understanding—of a deity. And so, the Dawnshards. The four primal Commands that created all things.” He paused. “And then eventually, they were used to undo Adonalsium itself. . . .” Brandon clarified that “surgebinding” in this context just means any Cosmere magic ”Surgebinding is kind of a catch-all for cosmere magic here. Literally binding (using) surges (a word for what we would call types of magic.” He's pretty much saying ”the most powerful forms of magic in the Cosmere are above normal mortal understanding. All of this magic’s greatest feats require Intent and a Command. Things no person could manage alone. To be able to make those kinds of Commands, you need to have the wide understanding of a Deity. since mortals aren’t capable of that, the Dawnshards were created for such reason.” “Require Intent and a Command” Does he mean, a literal spoken command(like Warbreaker) or a Command(a Dawnshard)? And does he mean any kind of Intent or one of the Intents? im probably misinterpreting everything, but im getting vibes that if Ado created the Dawnshards, he did so knowing they would eventually lead to its shattering
-
I feel like this is the closest ive seen yet(to what i imagine) i just get the feeling that the Dawnshards Commands are more simple and straightforward than a lot of people are trying to make them to be. theyre called “primal” commands. primal meaning, occurring at an earlier stage of evolutionary development.. these 4 simple, broad Commands(that first created everything)evolved into the 16 Intents we know today. Instead of simple destruction(if that is a Dawnshard), we now have entropy(or Ruin) or maybe instead of Change, we have Cultivation(just a guess) each Command, to me, should be something clear, simple, very broad, and straightforward.(even more so than the Intents) i.e. Change or Destroy or Grow not things like “unity” or “unbound”
-
Also. all dawnshards would do that to people The21stPotato Can you tell us the equivalent heightening she now has? She seems to be at least third heightening equivalent but I'm not sure how much else she has gained from holding a dawnshard. Do ALL dawnshards grant these heightening-like effects? mistborn All dawnshards would grant the same effects in this regard. As for specifics, I think I'll leave that as what is mentioned in the text, for now. (Sorry.)

How Did It Get Here And Other Questions
Eternal Khol replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Stormlight Archive
They do?! -
"And... without the Dawnshards” he does indeed
-
Well they are obviously Shards.... from before the dawn... im just kiddin lets break down these few sentences “Dawnshards are Commands. The will of a god.” each Dawnshars is a different Command(Rysn seems to have “Change”) These Commands are like... the way Ado viewed/understood things as the being he was like rysn’s is the way Ado wanted things to change and be better ”“The most powerful forms of Surgebinding transcend traditional mortal understanding,” The most powerful forms of Surgebinding rise above normal, mortal ways of seeing things “All their greatest applications require Intent and a Command.” to utilize this “godly” surgebinding to its fullest, Intent and a Command are necessary. “Demands on a level no person could ever manage alone” doing this was too much for a mortal to manage. As i said he's mortal. Nuff said “To make such Commands, one must have the reasoning—the breadth of understanding—of a deity“ to make such Commands(to use the godly surgebinding), youd need to be able to understand things the way Ado did “And so, the Dawnshards.” and for mortals to be able to understand/“experience?” things the way Ado did, he made the Dawnshards. “The four primal Commands that created all things” Pretty self explanatory “And then eventually, they were used to undo Adonalsium itself. . . .” They were eventually used to Shatter him into 16 pieces So, correct me if im wrong, but Ado seems to have created the Dawnshards to be of use to Humans(or people in general. Dont want to limit it to humans) to do some next level surgebinding which they couldn’t possibly hope to perform or even understand without the Dawnshards. And they eventually were used to Shatter him.

But... being around someone with a lot of breath doesn’t make food taste better.

And Jerick was Destruction? edit: and i wonder if Hoid’s Topaz was the Dawnshard before he was?
-
Dawnshard Spoiler about Hoid! And everything else!!
Eternal Khol replied to Eternal Khol's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He physically couldn’t hurt things for a while before the Shattering So he must’ve been bonded to it for a while a couple hundred years probably
