  1. Welcome to the Shard!!!(love your name btw) whats your favorite Novel and character? also, if your going through the Unpublished works. You should head over and request Aether of Night. It’s an unpublished “early cosmere”(my words) novel that brandon wrote in the early 2000’s Brandon does plan, in the future, to include Aethers(the magic of the book) into the published Cosmere if he gets the chance(he had 3 books planned)
  2. So the Rhythms are just the way Intent manifests on Roshar? Or something along those lines.
  3. There is a number of minor differences Brandon made between the Prose and the Graphic Novels. The Prose does come in .docx format, but you can edit it into a more traditional ebook format if you want(like .epub or .mobi) you can find the differences between the two version, here.(shouldn’t spoil anything if you already read the coppermind summaries)
  4. To get the Prose, go to Brandonsanderson.com and scroll to the bottom and sign up for the Newsletter. You should quickly receive the latest newsletter in your email, and in its Table of Contents(at the top of the newsletter) will be a link to “Download White Sand Prose” Brandon did make a number of mostly minor changes between the Prose and Graphic novel version, and you can find the differences here
  5. Thats how i imagined it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  6. Im gonna do my best to try to explain(how I understand it), but this is gonna be a long one(and probably a little confusing) So bear with me XD I think that just has to do with the fact that we’ve never seen Nightblood consume so much Investiture before.(and that while Ascended, a Shard doesnt have a normal “body” to be consumed by Nightblood) Something to keep in mind while reading this -a Vessels body doesn't “reappear” until after they die. -Whenever I refer to Rayse, I specifically mean the vessel and its mind/body, and when i refer to Odium, im referring to the actual power/Investiture itself. while Ascended, Rayse’s body(the matter of his body) is “absorbed” into Odiums Investiture, which wasnt all in the room with Tavangian, when he struck. It couldn’t be. so while Rayse’s mind was in the room with Taravangian, not all of Odiums Investiture(which held Rayse’s body) was there. So effectively, not all of Rayse’s pre-shattering body was present when Taravangian attacked. So when Taravangian used Nightblood on Rayse, it ate all of his mind(or most. which was enough), and then some(not a lot) of Odiums Investiture(where Rayse’s body was being “stored”) so when Rayse’s body was recreated by Odium’s Investiture(after Rayse died), it did the best it could, but Nightblood had consumed part of Odiums Investiture(which held Rayse’s body), so Rayse’s body came out as partly eaten too, because the Investiture that would later turn into his body, was partly consumed by Nightblood. And after eating Rayse/Odium, Taravangian remarks how the sword is “full” so maybe he couldn’t really eat anymore and finish off Odiums body, which would’ve appeared after NB ate Rayse’s mind and some power and was already “full” Feel free to poke holes in it. I wanna know what you think too This is a tricky one. did he really use Nightbloods Cognitive Manifestation? Because Taravangian(who was in-between realms with Odium) was physically wielding Nightblood when he attacked Odium(but because he was between realms and Nighblood was there. Was NB also between realms? Szeth, who was solidly in the physical and didn’t know Odium was there, had to resheath Nightblood after Taravangian’s attack what im wondering is... did you need to see Odium there to Attack him. Or be between realms, like Taravangian? like if Odium showed up but stayed invisible and undetected, would szeth be to kill Odium(the vessel) if he was randomly swinging around an unsheathed Nightblood? xD
  7. I think he somehow still has Connection to all 3 Realms still. Maybe because he died directly before Ascending(similar to how a recently dead person could be brought back with regrowth. The power might’ve healed him right before he actually Ascended?) If he had died(and stayed dead) before Ascending, he would’ve left a body behind. but he didnt. Only Rayse’s corpse remained. which suggests that Taravangian’s body burnt up when he Ascended.(which means he still is connected to all three realms)
  8. Not everything gets solved by magic. A little something i learned, reading fantasy. Key fact.
  9. Only until they invent color blind glasses...
  10. Heres another interesting Aether WoB This makes me wonder if any of the tech(or anything) in the Sixth of the Dusk Sequel reading, was an Aether?(he does say “behind-the-scenes”, so probably not) Questioner Are there still six different types of Aethers in current canon? Or has that changed? Brandon Sanderson They have expanded. I’m using the Aethers behind the scenes for a lot of space age things. And because I’m doing that, I am adding in a few more Aethers. There’s going to be some limits on this. I’m tweaking which Aethers I’m actually making, ‘cause some of them didn’t work as well as other ones. There will end up being more, but I won’t canonize the number until I have the Aether book ready to release. Waterstones RoW Release Event (Nov. 18, 2020)
  11. It was really weird for me. i wasn’t expecting it, but at the same time it was like Déjà Vu.
  12. But the only way navani was able to create the anti-voidlight was by cutting off Odiums Rhythms with the vacuum chamber and then playing a different rhythm. it makes sense that to convert investiture, youd need to “Attune” the Investiture to a different Rhythm. But out on the plateaus of Urithiru, The Stormlight in the gems are still connected to Honor’s Rhythms. I think its still Stormlight. The music just augments it(or the spren? Or both?)
  13. I just thought that was just the impressions he received from the Shard, and interpreted it as talking.
  14. And i bet they have a iron landing plate on the ship in space that the mini ship Pulls on for trajectory? or maybe they use aluminum to somehow isolate the pushing along one specific plane? Kinda like the new discoveries with pairing fabrials on Roshar(so the ship doesn’t end up Pushing horizontally or anything?) i dont know if thats at all possible. Someone more knowledgeable will have to expand. all of this... is so far out of my league lol
  15. i dont think thats exactly how it works. WoB on Kelsier and Metal Existing Raysium(made by Rayse) would still be Raysium, and through the WoB we can deduce that Taravangians metal will also “act like” Raysium for the time being but can change properties. notice how in the WoB, he said Kelsier’s metal would've “acted like lerasium” and not that it would “be Lerasium” so the same can probably be said for Taravangian. His metal may “act the same” as Raysium but that alone doesn't mean its the same metal. So i think if Taravangian made a godmetal right now. It would still have the same properties as Raysium, but would instead be Taravangium(or whatever it turns out being called) and in the future his metal could have such different properties than Raysium(which will kinda finally distinguish it, as its own metal. Even though it has been all along) while i do think it will be “harder” for Tarvangian to make a metal of his own, with different properties than Raysium(because Raysium is already in existence, and that is the way things have been for 10,000 years), it’s definitely happening
  16. I personally like Taravangianium XD
  17. What your saying is, Might be a step towards figuring out how to convert Investiture, but i dont think its as simple as playing a different rhythm.
  18. Im the same way lol Usually someone will do a transcription and it will eventually be on the Arcanum website, But i looked a few minutes ago and it wasnt up yet
  19. I though this was always implied/stated. otherwise, people could just walk up to the Perpendicularity In the Cognitive realm and then go through it and theyd already be safe to collect Aviar (since the area around the pool shields minds) and grab a bunch of Aviar and then skedaddle, In just a few minutes.
  20. Ive been worried about her since Oatbbringer When Dalinar meets her, she said in that she controls all things that can be cultivated, “Even the thorns” I took that to have a dual meaning in that she’s referencing the Blackthorn(Dalinar) and also any sort of general “evil” or bad being/force
  21. Shallan and Adolin go to lasting integrity(Honorspren city/fortress) to convince the Honorspren to start bonding again. And shallan has a side mission of hunting “restares” the Honorspren put Adolin on Trial for using the dead Shardblade as a weapon. Just after they finally find Adolin “guilty”, Maya comes to the rescue and Talks!!, saying “we. chose” and “You. Cannot. Have. My. SACRIFICE!” meaning that the Radiants didnt betray the Spren during the Recreance. Both the spren and Radiants decided the spren needed to die, lest destruction on the level of Ashyn happens again) at the end of the novel, Maya isnt revived yet, but she is bonded to Adolin(not a Radiant bond) and she can kinda talk a little bit, and get a few words out(its really difficult for her and exhausts her pretty quick)
  22. Well, that would only make sense. Rhythms are a Cosmere wide phenomena “that have a specific way of manifesting on Roshar” Rhythms seem to be or are made by Investiture(i.e. different Investiture/Intent = different Rhythms) Investiture from different Shards can mix. Its not like only Shards who have settled together are capable of mixing Investiture therefore, all Investiture(and “mixtures” of it) have a Rhythm
  23. I feel like brandon kinda rushed this one. I just dont think he’s handling the transition into “space age” or crossover era very well It feels like he's trying for too much in this one, and all of the larger Cosmere stuff is drawing away from the story Stormlight is telling Its like we quickly just went from each book being pretty much standalone(little cosmere tidbits) to full blown crossovers.(Mentions of four new Shards, seons, the ghostbloods, white sand, vasher explains Returned, the heralds wants to go to other planets, a random terriswoman, etc...) its still a great read with plenty of surprises, but it’s just... idk missing something... for being such a long novel. It still feels extremely rushed to me
  24. The Sibling is of both Honor and Cultivation. Are the “deepest ones” of Threnody, the same as the fused variety of “deepest ones”? Or related i wonder?
  25. I was soooo salty when i read that XD
