Well, you're half right. Mostly because Rosharans classify everything as Surgebinding. In universe Cosmere scholars (and Brandon) would disagree

Personally I don't believe Preservation planned past Sazed, but if you account for the possibility that Ruin changed a few things well... *puts on tinfoil hat*

Endowment’s almighty magic system (Dawnshard spoilers)
StanLemon replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I've personally viewed Breaths as sort of an artificial Spark of Life. The animating force of Investiture. For me this explains why only one is necessary for Lifeless. In regards to Shards not creating the magic system- 52 replies

It's probably safe to say he was a dragon. However Frost shows that dragons in the Cosmere can take human form so there is the possibility that he was human and developed a relationship with Cultivation while she was assuming human form

Not to get into a theological debate, but something I want to point out is that in the Old Testimate even the Abrahamic God had several limitations. I'll leave it there as I don't want this thread to devolve into arguing. Now, Ruin and Preservation were fully capable in terms of power to create a planet and all the life on it in the form of Scadrial. That by pretty much any metric would make them gods of Scadrial. The reason they had to work together wasn't their power but the limits of their Intents. As far as worship goes, I personally think that that is dependent on if the actions of the god are worthy of worship

I viewed that as simply supreme arrogance on her part. He managed to kill 4 Shards, 2 of them at the same time.

It's hard to tell, We've never seen a Vessel from the Shattering that was both human and not traumatized horribly. The Leras we see was after he ripped his own mind apart to stop Ruin. Ati was horribly unaligned with his Shard's Intent assuming what Hoid's letter said was wholly accurate and he spent thousands of years impotent, possibly even more so than Odium. Rayse had been bound by the Oathpact for seven thousand years and his goals were always being thwarted. And the only view of Tanavast we've had was him while he was dying.

It requires too many WoB to post cohesively but what he's basically said is that the lore in the games while technically not canon, is safe to consider so until he directly contradicts it. So until he decides for sure on what name what Twinborn combo has, it's ok to use the MAG names until then.

I'd still consider the Shards to be more "godly" than most gods actually worshipped in real life history
-
This line is weird to me. They're more powerful than most gods in fiction (not counting omnipotent monotheistic examples). Almost every one of their very few limits is because of the nature of Intent, or another Shard

How do they test for cadmium mistings, anyway?
StanLemon replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Mistborn
This is very much possible. He learned enough about Hemalurgy to have a functional base knowledge to experiment effectively despite not at all focusing on it so he probably gained plenty of knowledge on Allomancy and Feruchemy too. It's probably why he was able to make the Bands. -
The Radiants have two major limiting factors in comparison with Allomancers to keep in mind. They burn through their Investiture significantly faster than Allomancers, even a Pewterarm can last several times longer, and secondly how many oaths they have said. Based on what we've seen in the books, getting to the Third Ideal is fairly common but there does seem to be difficulty for Radiants to get the Fourth. In terms of raw combat power they are stronger though. This might not be possible for Windrunners as every case of a Reverse Lashing we've seen is centered on a point the Windrunner has touched and infused with Stormlight. Though they could use Lashings to launch them like a Coinshot launches metal.

Psychic Damage To Shard Vessels? [Discuss]
StanLemon replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is a good point, the Heralds breaking the Oathpact might have done to Tanavast what losing Dalinar and Kaladin did to Raise. Maybe they are staking their power on something important, something that would have far reaching consequences and when they fail, they lose control of that bit of power. Honor for instance was most likely the driving force of the Oathpact and when it broke, he probably broke. We don't know much when it comes to Champions but I'm assuming is they get Invested in some way by the Shard. Look at what happened to Kaladin when he killed Lezian, his eyes were glowing oddly and he seemed to be an embodiment of fury. -
Brandon seems to be using Era 2 to subvert a lot of common tropes with women in media. Steris with the haughty personality and sitcom unsuitable fiance setup like you said ends up being far more complicated a character and Wax's true love interest. Marasi who seemed set up as the true love interest and a woman in a traditionally male job sticks to her femininity and enjoys feminine things rather than trying to be "tough" and ends up being the decoy love interest. And as you said, Lessie does seem to be a stand in for disposable woman. And turned out to be a character who was furious about themselves and the person they loved being manipulated.

Why Radiants are incredibly overpowered, and Mistborn aren't.
StanLemon replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
And arguably a fight between a Radiant and a Mistborn is a 2vs1 fight. This can go on forever -

Arguably Surgebinding via the Nahel Bond is two magic systems. Fused only have a single Surge afterall -
Brandon has said that godmetals still get grouped like actual metals. For instance, he's a platinoid. Harmonium is an alkali metal. That doesn't mean it's unstable, just that it's very reactive. This reactiveness i would guess is necessary for how Harmonium interacts with Allomancy and Feruchemy

Stormlight may be his magnum opus but that's because he's always wanted to do an epic fantasy. When Stormlight is over that doesn't mean he'll favor Roshar. Also Allomancy is his favorite magic system he's created so that has a special fondness for him

Your guess is pretty accurate. The Dor saturates Sel's Subastral and the blue energy is basically a pipeline of Investiture back to Sel. As he's climbing the stone he's phasing into it and feeling the history of the stone like how Dalinar hears the stones in Oathbringer. Doing this is Connecting him to Sel

I think the issue was that they were reversed. Gold sees the past whereas Atium sees the future and Gold's alloy Electrum sees the future whereas Atium's alloy sees the past

Welcome! Any worlds, characters, or magics that you have a special fondness for?

Honestly we don't really know much about Snapping in general. Kelsier implied that he could feel when he Snapped though. -

StanLemon replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Mistborn
Cadmium is significantly less dangerous ingested than breathed in due to the digestive system absorbing far less efficiently than the lungs. I would imagine very small doses for testing for Cadmium. However I think the real answer is, if someone has snapped, test every metal except Cadmium first and if they don't exhibit any other powers then Cadmium would be their ability by default
