  1. What are you talking about? Environmental factors are often taken into consideration when it comes to disorders. We can even take his "middling" intelligence days as an indication of what he's like without the Boon/Bane Again, Narcissism is a spectrum and not every checkbox needs to be marked, just enough to establish patterns. Even then his behavior contradicts his words. Even when telling Dalinar he hopes to be proven wrong he clearly in no way believes he is wrong. He believes that his genius Diagram is the best and most successful possible solution, that nothing anyone else anyone does can compare. Even when stupid he still believes he's special and unique and that he is beyond other people's understanding, that they need to believe in the smarter him. Possible, though I would argue that he does, that he wants people to acknowledge that he's save them. But that's another conversation He has a massive sense of entitlement. He believes that all of his actions are justified because he's doing it to save the world. He wants to get Dalinar to agree with him and in RoW he thinks that Szeth should listen to him even after the horrendous way that he manipulated him. He believes that he needs to be the one to save the world. Rather than explain to Dalinar how Nightblood could harm Odium he believed he needed to manipulate a whole situation. Not just limited to his 'smart' days. Even on his 'middling' days which are probably the truest personality for him he's more than willing to bleed innocent people dry for the Death Rattles. Something that the Diagram itself says won't do much good but he does it anyway on the small chance that they will give useful information. Even on his 'stupid' days he simply feels guilt but doesn't truly think what he's doing was wrong and that it's important to believe in 'smart' Taravangian. Tell that to Dalinar. It's pretty clear that he has trouble with the fact that Dalinar doesn't fall in line and that he's able to bring so many people to his side without manipulating them Taravangian is not a good man who has chosen to do evil. He's an evil man who thinks he's good. Fiction is littered with characters like him who do horrendous evil things because it's necessary. Technically The Lord Ruler is an example. He created a despotic empire to 'save' the world from Ruin. Taravangian is no better.
  2. What I meant is that tapping would do nothing until you are burning the metal no matter how much is stored. I do think tapping would enhance the burning metal though. An example of what I mean is this, if you give a blind man an unsealed sight Tinmind it would be useless to him because there isn't anything to enhance.
  3. Litterally the only thing about NPD he doesn't check off is lack of empathy. And even then that is only half the time when his curse fills him with compassion. Delusions of Grandeur is often associated with narcissism. Yes Kell is a Narcissist too, but he has empathy as well. That's because disorders are often a spectrum. Taravangian just jumps around on that spectrum because of Cultivation
  4. The issue is that Taravangian is a narcissist with a massive ego. Even on his more emotional and compassionate days he believes that only HE can save everyone, only HE can do what's right and necessary, and if HE can't do it then no one can. Combine that with his intellect and planning, he is a very terrifying being. He could easily stop this war, sit down with the other monarchs and figure out a peace accord which might not be what everyone wants but most on both sides would find as acceptable. But he thinks that HE needs to be the hero and that only HE can do what's best for Roshar
  5. RoW makes Stone Shamanism make a lot more sense to me after Venli's chapters. Stone has a memory of the whole of Roshar
  6. I'd argue that you would have to be burning those metals to get any benefit while tapping though. It would be like a blind person tapping sight.
  7. I'm personally interested in Invention. I'd imagine it like Fabrials taken to the next level
  8. Yup, she's a dragon. Hoid says there is a dragon on Roshar when he and Kaladin are having their vision. Later when Mr T sees her later in the book he realizes that the human form she presents isn't her true form heavily implying that she is the dragon. But here is the WoB that confirms it
  9. A-Copper also has an unspecified effect on spren. Maybe it messes the Rhythms of their Investiture causing an effect like The Siblings/Void Fabrial dampening field? Though I doubt as strongly Also, maybe Copper protects from Rioting/Soothing is it attunes and amplifies/dampens people with specific Rhythms and Copper might block that
  10. Because Honor was raving about the Dawnshards and that the Radiants would destroy the planet before he died
  11. Atium's limitations in Allomancy is probably not a good yardstick to determine Ruin's futuresight. He's at least good enough to plan decades in advance.
  12. This would be fantastic
  13. Well he's already punched Ruin and Preservation....
  14. To punch every Shard in the face
  15. I wonder if there is something about Dalinar that just makes him that much stronger and tougher than normal people. The things he does in the flashbacks in Oathbringer seem superhuman long before he bonded the Stormfather
  16. I like this, sounds plausible at the very least
  17. @Bigmikey357 I don't understand where you think Roshar is metal poor? Sure Roshar doesn't mine for metals much but that's because they have Soulcasters that make it easy. Also Crem is described as tasting metallic so I'm fairly confident trace metals are all over the place on Roshar
  18. Brandon has underlying aspects of his magic systems and it does seem he's trying some threads with the RoW. Brandon has said a Seeker could hear the Rhythms of Roshar so it does seem all Investiture seems to possess Rhythms My personal hypothesis on why Roshar has such prevalent Rhythms is because it is so heavily Invested from High Storms
  19. Also, by all indications Bondsmiths need to touch someone to manipulate Connection with them. Making it's use in a fight against someone who can move faster than the Bondsmith and see both their own and the Bondsmith's future On a more conjecture end of things. F-Duralumin allows some level of Connection manipulation, maybe even enough to stonewall a Bondsmith. Unfortunately we don't know enough about it but considering it can store "blank" Connection I'm sure there is a lot more to it than we yet know.
  20. There is no reason that strong enough Emotional Allomancy won't work on a Radiant. It's not all that different than Pushing/Pulling on Plate or Blade Blow off the head
  21. Wax accidentally Pushed boulders and easily blew out a stone wall by trace minerals. TLR would be fine
  22. I think there is some overstatement of the Herald's powers. Sure what Ishar does in RoW is quite impressive, but we have Kalak's own viewpoint that Thunderclasts have killed Heralds. While it's true that we haven't seen all of Odium's forces, we haven't seen anything that competes with TLR. Brandon is a fan of limits and I'm fairly confident we will soon (relatively speaking what with how long we can wait on a book) see what the limits of Herads and Bondsmiths are. One of the main reasons I think this is once we get into Era 4, if he just keeps making members of Roshar more and more powerful it will be hard to feel real tension between worlds.
  23. That's stretching. He can only do that during a Highstorm which is a massive amount of Investiture moving between Realms. There is absolutely nothing that even suggests that they can do that whenever they want
