After recently rereading era 1 and Secret History. I think what Taravangian got wasn't Rayse's memories so much as the history of what the Shard itself has done and how it's power was used. Taravangian is pretty smart so I think he was able to with the expanded knowledge from Ascending figure out what Odium's plans were.

Is Fortune and Future Sight the same thing?
StanLemon replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I personally think Fortune is the ability to draw on knowledge from the Spiritual Realm and futuresight is just an application of it. Our biggest on screen use of it is in Secret History when Preservation shows Kel the Spiritual Realm and he's able to see all the ways things are Connected and the path he needs to follow. But as soon as he's not seeing it anymore it feels like a distant memory to him. If futuresight isn't a function of Fortune then at least it seems to be parallel to it. Edit: After a review of WoB, he does seem to equate futuresight as a use of Fortune -
I think it's simply the nature of nobility inbreeding to an extant. Sure a lot of people could claim descent from Spook but how many have ancestry that keeps Allomantic lines "pure" by having children with other families that have strong histories of Allomancy

The Sibling is weird for a number of reasons and we don't know much about it. However, Soulcasters which are the other Surge Fabrial we know of the spren manifests as metal and the gemstones get replaced. As far as we know, all Investiture manifests as metal

Brandon has said that a Shardblade can't be summoned if the wielder is being affected by Chromium. As far as if it can kill spren, I can't recall any WoB on that personally As far as Renarin healing goes, we only have Adolin's perspective. But he did think to himself that Renarin healed faster than a usual Radiant. I'm more inclined to think of it as just the Progression Surge myself.

I actually didn't think about Atium in the all metals category. I would say the Mistborn would have the advantage with Atium. We should see if OP clarifies

I agree that the longer the war goes on the more it favors Sel. But Roshar would be able to do a lot of damage early on. A very good point. Might not be that helpful, at least for transportation purposes as Sel's Cognitive is so dangerous. That we don't know if current designs would work on Selish magic While technically true, the designs they have are not really useful in war Would they be able to make Anti-Investiture for Sel? I'd imagine making it for the Dor would be more difficult due to the Dor's unusual nature.

My guess would be the Edgedancer. Abrasion is a very useful Thug most likely. Stormlight is less efficient than burning metals. Vin for instance could keep her Pewter burning for hours while Kaladin rarely lasted more than a few minutes before reaching his Third Ideal. Not that Windrunner Surges wouldn't be able to give a Thug a hard time but the strength, dexterity, and toughness of Pewter I think would give the advantage With only era one metals vs Windrunner I would give a slight advantage to Mistborn but it would be decently even. While Iron and Steel aren't quite as good as Gravitation, they would still allow for good maneuverability. Stormlight doesn't give great strength like Pewter does but the Radiant healing will be a problem for the Mistborn. If the Mistborn is smart they will stay away from the Shardblade that they can't Push/Pull on and I think the battle will ultimately come down to the fact that Stormlight will run out before metals. If the Radiant is skilled enough to stay close to the Mistborn their Shardblade will give them the advantage Mistborn with Atium. Even Brandon has said an Atium Misting could beat Kaladin You'll get a lot of heated debate on this. Personally I think in most situations the 4th Ideal Windrunner would win but I don't think it would be as one sided as a lot of others believe. Mostly because I'm of the opinion that Radiants aren't as powerfully insurmountable as the hype they have. So I'd say odds are 7 to 3 favoring Radiants.

Let's look at a some things, not a comprehensive list but what pops into my head TLR and users of the Bands were able to bypass Investiture resistance with their Pushes. With almost no difficulty at that. While Blade and Plate would likely be harder, it's a very safe bet that a Fullborn can Push and Pull on them. Progression might be able to compare to Compounded Gold considering Adolin's thoughts when he saw Renarin. Though that's our only metric so far on advanced Stormlight healing. A Fullborn's physical strength with Allomantic Pewter would be insane if it scales anywhere near as much as Allomantic Steel did for Wax (who was able to use trace metals to fling boulders and break a stone wall) and then if you add nearly limitless Feruchemical Strength that means that a Fullborn should be able to easily break Plate and out muscle a Radiant even in Plate (though if the theory on Tension adding physical strength is true this might slightly even the strength disparity) Gravitation will give the Radiant will give the Radiant better aerial mobility A Radiant just can't compete with the stores of physical and mental speed that a Fullborn would have. The Fullborn would be able to account for dozens of possibilities and quickly adjust to new things with mental speed and would be able to attack faster than the Radiant would even be able to perceive. Radiants do have a much greater list of things they can do. Surges, especially all ten of them have a wide variety of applications. Chromium Allomancy is very dangerous to Radiants Seeking would likely allow the Fullborn to pinpoint a Radiant through illusions if they are doing anything other than illusions based on the Screamer spren Electrum gives a slight future sight to a Fullborn which would warn them of danger which combined with mental speed would very much help them adapt The Radiant would have the advantage of being able to alter the terrain with Cohesion and Soulcasting Back to what I said in a previous post. I do think that overall what a Radiant with all the Surges could do would be greater. I just can't see them beating a Fullborn who takes the fight seriously unless they get very lucky. If the Radiant could somehow disable the physical speed then I could see the fight being more even because the insane speeds that a Fullborn can utilize combined with all their other abilities is just unfair

The first "chapter" of the Sixth of the Dusk sequel has been revealed. It makes it almost certain that The Ones Above are Scadrians, and we got introduced to a space age Radiant. They appear to not be friendly with each other. It doesn't quite mean that they will be going to war but they are competing for resources Personally, I don't think it will be full on warfare between the worlds, nor do I think there is enough information to pick a side even if it would. I do have a preference for Scadrial though because I find the magical interactions a lot more interesting.

Brandon has said that Soulbearer's aren't as limited as Unsealed Metalminds imply. So we are certainly missing an important aspect of Nicrosil Feruchemy
-
It makes you wonder if a (Unkeyed?)Metalmind being used would alter the effect in a Fabrial like how it can alter Allomancy
-
It might be Dominion and Devotion, afterall Endowment said they broke the deal since the beginning
-
How do they test for cadmium mistings, anyway?
StanLemon replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Mistborn
I couldn't find anything about Scadrian's being more resistant to metal poisoning, but there are a number of WoB on the risks of metal poisoning for Allomancers. It is possible that simple natural selection over centuries for Scadrians to have built up a natural resistance though mitigating the risks. Zane for example always slept with metals in his system which should have had him suffering from metal poisoning after prolonged period of him doing that but he never exhibited any signs or symptoms. -
What happened exactly to Hoid's memory?
StanLemon replied to Lightning's topic in Cosmere Discussion
As with many in universe beliefs regarding the limits of magic systems, the belief that Breaths can't be forcibly taken may very well be wrong. I'm almost positive Hemalurgy could be used to take them for instance. Also, for a Shard it might be trivial to remove Breaths. -
Considering how stupidly powerful Wax and Marais were with the Bands. Fullborn almost no contest. If the Fullborn takes the fight seriously they could end it before it even starts. A Fullborn is almost certainly powerful enough to Push/Pull on Plate and Blade. They're fast enough to hit the Radiant really really hard, most likely hard enough to shatter Plate. Can leach away all the Radiant's Stormlight which would prevent them from using their Surges, even the opening a Perpendicularity trick. Compounded Fortune certainly would be a big help. Have one of the most powerful healing abilities in the Cosmere. Able to think faster than the Radiant. Electrum Allomancy to see the future partially for defense. Brandon has described Determination if translated to D&D terms would be a general bonus to all skills which presumably includes combat skills. And that's not even a comprehensive list. On a broader scale, a Radiant with all Surges would probably be considered more powerful but in terms of combat it's hard comparing most things to how utterly broken a Fullborn is

The large amounts of Stormlight were only half the reason though. The other half was because all three realms were so close together. Though when enough Investiture pools up I guess that difference is mostly semantics
-
Despite Stormlight, Mists, and Breaths all being gaseous states of Investiture they still have different properties. Just like how different Godmetals have different properties. It may very well not be possible to use the Mists like Stormlight, at least not without a great deal of effort. For example, all of the excess Investiture on Roshar makes people healthier while there is no evidence that happens from the Mists
-
Yes, Adonalsium created Roshar. When Honor and Cultivation moved in they sort of adopted the Investiture (and Highstorms) that were already present On a separate yet interesting note, gemhearts form from a combination of crem and Investiture

What I was getting at is that someone with Copper Feruchemy likely has a good memory anyway. I would say it isn't fair to use it during said competition but I wouldn't complain if the dumped stores they thought would be relevant beforehand though
-
Keep in mind that Keepers and likely most Copper Ferrings do memory training exercises to get the most of their Copperminds. The more you can retain without your Coppermind the more you'll get out of it.
-
I was merely giving a reason. Counterpoint though, it's not Odium Hoid had a grudge with, it was Rayse. And he likely has good reasoning for his grudge against Bavadin and that likely isn't a lie as it was revealed to us in a correspondence with Frost who knew Bavadin and Hoid personally Pre-Shattering. True, but doesn't do Autonomy any favors as far as people's perception on if they are bad or not
-
Because Hoid has a similar grudge against Bavadin as he did Rayse, and we know what kind of monster Rayse was. Also how Autonomy hypocritically messes with other planets yet hates anyone doing anything with Taldain
-
Awakening for sure has an obscene amount of potential. Nightblood alone is proof of that. But it's also arguably the single most expensive magic system and thus the most difficult to reach those high levels of power.
