  1. Actually Allomancy and Feruchemy in concert would be fantastic for clean energy. Particularly the combination of Feruchemical Iron and Allomantic Iron/Steel for turbines. And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Who knows what other fascinating combinations are available.
  2. Have an upvote. Also, I love the giant arrow pointing at Vin
  3. While in the realm of possibility, I think it's unlikely in the way that I think it's unlikely but technically possible for Roshar to make antimatter weaponry. I'm certain there is some limit we don't know about yet. Brandon likes his limits on things too much I think. This is one reason I desperately hope Lost Metal goes into detail on how Unsealed Metalminds work. Only one more year...
  4. This actually begs the question, how long it would actually take to Compound enough stores for a Fullborn to be broken? I doubt a newly minted Fullborn would be overly powerful so it would be dependent on how long it takes them to get the snowball rolling
  5. They have completely opposite charges, when interacting with other antimatter they will react identically to how the matter version will interact with matter. But things get weird once antimatter and matter interact. Even not counting the potential for explosion. Now that I'm mentioning that, I think their knowledge on Anti-Investiture might even impair their potential for understanding antimatter along with other potential problems. Different charges are a very different thing than having opposite waves and if they go into trying to make antimatter with the mindset of how Anti-Investiture works they will probably hit wall. Also, in testing out Soulcasting antimatter there is a good chance there attempts will blow themselves up by Soulcasting something too large into antimatter as single gram could potentially cause an explosion comparable to Hiroshima. A reason it's good to have a good understanding of physics before they go making potentially explosive materials. I've also just realized something, Silverlight almost certainly has an understanding of antimatter. They know about Microkinesis which is a magic able to see atoms, and in Ars Arcanum Khriss makes mention that they are more technologically developed than Scadrial.
  6. We have no reason to believe that antimatter falls under the Ten Essences umbrella. WoK epigraph points out that it requires practice for Soulcasters to make steel. Pretty sure making a substance they have no experience with won't be easy
  7. I'd assume he would compensate with Allomantic Iron and Steel. Wax with the Bands was able to toss boulders from their trace metals and was able to safely Ironpull a whole airship without wrecking it If his Allomantic Pewter scales anywhere near the Allomantic Steel Wax displayed I don't think he would need to tap too much Feruchemical Pewter. Sazed was able to tap enough Strength (albeit in conjuncture with Weight) to hold closed the gate from a veritable horde of Koloss who themselves have superhuman levels of strength without bulking so much he had problems
  8. Well...he does have effectively infinite strength... Yeah, those are good points. Honestly I had completely forgotten bit about antimatter being referenced
  9. I just want to point out, the bases of this thread hinges on Taravangian completely winning in book 5. And not only that, effectively having the entirety of Roshar follow him after that victory. That's a stretch of plausibility especially when there would be so many forces working against him
  10. Which would require Taravangian to win and Roshar to be united. Which again is unlikely He was talking about the Set's attempt at recreating the bomb Kelsier being a fullborn could effectively walk in there in the Cognitive tear his way through any enemies, get to the Bondsmiths, murder them, set off the bomb, and tap steel to run away before it explodes It's accessible enough that Southern Scadrial utilizes it heavily for their technology Them beings simply able to Soulcast it is a stretch, otherwise there is no reason that Fused wouldn't have absolutely destroyed the Radiants with it. Jasnah in WoK shows that if they don't have sufficient knowledge of something they can't Soulcast it correctly so they would have to understand the nature of matter and antimatter to do so. Here is a snippit from a larger WoB on how hard it would to Soulcast weapons grade Uranium and Plutonium. If it isn't one of the 10 Essences you can't just make it by thinking about it
  11. Not really, they have no knowledge of quantum theory beyond Investiture. They have no reason to believe the knowledge of Light will translate over to the physics of matter.
  12. No, but the bomb in BoM was estimated as having a yield strong enough to destroy Elendel. That's why I say effectively have nukes. Roshar lacks the scientific knowledge to do this so this point is meaningless. They aren't likely to develop complex atomic theory in the timeframe between book 5 and Era 2
  13. I find it very unlikely that Roshar is going to attack Scadrial, at least any time soon. Roshar is too heavily divided and I find it unlikely that Taravangian is going to "win" enough to bring war to other planets in the near future. Also I think you might underestimate Scadrial's defensive potential. One of Kelsier's goals is the protection of Scadrial from Cosmere threats and he's had three centuries to plan and build defenses. Through Southern Scadrial he's effectively got access to nukes which would allow him to completely destroy Rosharan forces as they make their way towards Roshar. Radiant's wouldn't have a good source of Investiture, one (or two with Ishar's Blade) Bondsmith's able to open up a Perpendicularity aren't likely going to be enough to supply the Stormlight needs of an entire army and the Bondsmiths would be a prime target for someone as powerful as Kelsier to kill asap. If they are moving their armies through the Cognitive Realm they won't have access to any of their Shards while in the Cognitive. And finally, Scadrial just plain has better firepower than Roshar, a full Shardbearer might be able to kill dozens in minutes but Scadrial has the technology to kill hundreds if not thousands in minutes not counting the Southern bombs. This also takes place centuries into the future so it's not likely to happen before Scadrians have ways to defend themselves Hoid also likes Scadrial, the most he's likely to involve himself is to go against Kelsier but I find it unlikely he would wholesale go against Scadrial. In fact he would probably have disdain towards the idea of Roshar attacking Scadrial
  14. I would find it very interesting, particularly for the era 3 setting. Plausible even. Though I doubt Scadrial would generate as much smog as we have given their potential for clean energy with mechanical Investiture.
  15. We get an in character perspective in Secret History where he describes it like endless threads of Connection
  16. Specific force needs to be applied in specific ways still. It doesn't just explode. There are several other factors as well such as shape and pressure. And Division wouldn't help as it can't be used to split atoms
  17. Just holding it briefly can make you a Sliver, but you do need to hold enough of it to at least kind of ascend. The Lord Ruler only held the power of the Well for a couple of minutes but he did ascend for that brief moment. A Vessel is merely anyone who has held the Shard, so as long as they have held it they are a Vessel. I don't think there is a limit on when they can give it up but it probably becomes harder and harder for them to do the more they get aligned to the Intent but I don't think there is any point that they can't give it up
  18. A little crossed with Way of Kings, the "element" that Hoid says is safe in the Way of Kings letter epigraph is the bead of Lerasium.
  19. Please refrain from RoW spoilers
  20. First off, Leeching is near instantaneous. Every instance we've seen it has only taken like a second to leech things. Sure Brandon has said that heavily Invested things might take a couple of seconds but a Radiant by themselves would be leeched in only a second or two. So basically if a Fullborn speeds up and punches a hole through the Plate and leeches the Radiant the fight is over. Secondly, plutonium alone isn't enough for a nuclear explosion and Division can't cause nuclear blasts so one happening in this fight isn't likely Even if you started the fight with neither side utilizing Investiture, burning and tapping happen at the speed of thought basically. So as soon as the Fullborn thinks about tapping speed they are already moving faster than anything the Radiant can do. At super high speeds, they just need to walk over, punch off the Radiant's head, fight over. Compounded speed just unbalances the fight too much. If it weren't for that, I would consider it a much closer fight but it's just too powerful of a combat ability
  21. Yeah, it would work but for some powers it would mostly be a waste without the Feruchemical ability to store the excess. Though it could be very useful for when they need it.
  22. The only Cognitive Anomaly we know of is the one by Nalthis though as the chain originates from Threnody it seems likely that an Anomaly exist there as well. I wonder if they are manifestations of the "wound" in the Spiritual Realm that Sazed mentions in his letter to Hoid
  23. As far as the black coloring goes, are we completely sure that in world characters aren't mistaking it as black. Voidlight looks mostly black with a tinge of violet
  24. The Shards themselves have a level of knowledge and memories. Sazed, Kelsier, and Vin make reference to that. Even Taravangian doesn't really say that he has Rayse's memories, only that he could see what his plans were. This lines up with Preservation's Vessels being able to understand Ruin's and eventually Preservation's plans do to the extra understanding that being a Shard gives
