Chana, Daughter of Ishar?
Necessary Eagle replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Herald pictures are in-universe religious art, they're not actual portraits. We already know that Actual Ash and Actual Jezrien are much darker-skinned, for instance. -
I think WoB is that it would be difficult but there would theoretically be ways around it. Unless I'm thinking about the one about Cognitive Shadows, but I think he said something similar for Radiants, too.

Not 100% sure if this goes here, being more of a WoR riff, but it is a meme and it is about Rhythm of War.

Has anyone seen Wit recently?
Necessary Eagle replied to Mason Wheeler's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well I guess we know now, anyway. -
I was thinking Google Maps and Street View, myself.

Done with Book One! -
I have a shameful confession to make. Until this Friday, I did not own Way of Kings. The first time I read WoK, I got it out of the library. The second time I read WoK, I got it out of the library. I finally decided to buy myself a copy that I could reread at my leisure, whenever that leisure might be. It probably wasn't going to be any time soon, because I didn't think I could limit myself to less than a full SA read-through; I am a very fast reader, but RoW is coming out in a few weeks and I had library books. But you know what? The library books turned out not to be very good, so I decided to crack Way of Kings after all. Over the course of Shabbat I got through about... I'd say 850 pages? Give or take? I'm thinking this may be doable after all. I do have a lot of free time on my hands these days. Fellow Radiants, I am going to try to finish all three books before the release of Rhythm of War. And probably Edgedancer. And of course Dawnshard. And if I don't make, it well, journey before destination, right?

Maglor: "Dad must have been here at some point. Ashyn is on fire."

Let's keep Roshar and Arda far apart, please. I don't want any infamous kinslayers demonstrating to the Stormfather that yes, there IS such a thing as a foolish oath.

Why does he still want to wear white?

As the poet laureate of Alethkar, I will give the true star of the chapter its well-deserved tribute: It's back, it's black, it's totally whack At long last it is here It's smooth and round, it's just been found Let's... welcome... the blaaaaaack sphere

They DID let Szeth keep his freaky black sword with him! And Sword-nimi used to talk to passerbys. I wonder what he said.

The wacky after-afterlife adventures of Lightsong and Blushweaver. Beyond roadtrip ahoy! Actually, I want to see the (brief) life and times of an Idrian Returned. We'll always have fanfic.

Vasher believes he's a copy and not the original soul. Some people would agree with him. Some people would disagree with him. He is stating his opinion the matter, and that's all it is-- an opinion. EDIT: for that matter, given that 'cognitive shadow' is an in-universe term, they don't necessarily all work the same way. Even if Vasher is really a copy, that doesn't mean the Heralds are.

So Nightblood is common knowledge (at least, that he exists), and Vasher's all, "not my monkey, not my circus". Still would like to know where NB is now.

I saw that, and I was really thrown for a loop, because I was sure next week would be your first flashback. But yeah, more Zahel, wooo!

So as of RoW... Szeth has been in jail for a year. Szeth has a freaky black sword. Unless they're real lenient in Urithiru prisons, Szeth was probably not allowed to keep his freaky black sword with him. Therefore: a) where is Nightblood now? and 2) how likely is it that Zahel knows? and III) what is he going/planning to do? If he didn't do it already.

The thing about the Recreance that bothers me the most is how they all agreed to murder their spren. These were their friends, their partners, their life companions-- and they killed them en masse. The Knights Radiant, to a man and woman, were onboard with subjecting their other halves to agonizing sort-of death, leaving their corpses on the ground to be used and abused by whoever. I mean, can you imagine Kaladin doing that to Syl? Looking her in the eye, Sylphena, then killing her? Probably while Syl was begging him to not do it? Multiply that by all of them. All of them did that, except the Skybreakers. And don't tell me Oathbringer gave us the reason. Oathbringer said that the KR were afraid their powers would destroy Roshar. Okay, fine. So don't use your powers. Or if you're Fourth Oath or below, you can just dissolve the whole partnership, no harm done. Okay, Notum implied the process was painful, but I think it must be less painful than being zombified. But they didn't do that. They killed them. So I've been thinking: what if the spren were in on it? Spren and Knights agree: their powers will destroy the world, that's bad, there should be no more Knight Radiants. Ever. And so, to make sure that no one is tempted to join in the future, the Knights publicly and theatrically turn their backs on humanity. They make their name synonymous with "traitor". No human is going to want anything to do with them thereafter. And on the spren side? The spren too want to make absolutely certain that none of their kind are ever tempted to form a nahal bond. And so they have their Knights summon them as blades, leave them in agonized undeath, drop them in the dirt to be used by murderers. It's awful, but they grimly agree it's the only way to save the world.

Now that we know that gravityspren = workform, which spren do you think go with the rest of the forms? Presumably creationspren cause artform, and passionspren, mateform. Scholarform is probably logicspren. Nimbleform is, I dunno... *pulls random spren out of a hat* ...anticipationspren? I'm going to say anticipationspren. Warform... where did I put that hat? Okay, flamespren, gonna go with that. Assuming they can find flamespren in the middle of a Highstorm.
