Uhh, I find it hard to believe one of the worldhoppers/heralds would be "the daughter of" a named character. She wasn't the only character introduced, the orange eyed lady was too (interesting color).

At this point I suspect no-one has been hit by the Everstorm, other than the Alethi in the battle with the Voidbringers at the end of WoR. When some nations acknowledge there was a strange storm they likely mean in the Shattered Planes. But they don't believe it will return. They'll probably be hit in a few days, first Shinovar, then the rest. Edgedancer happens simultaneusly during Part One of Oathbringer. In fact I wouldnt be surprised if the first ED chapter happened at the exact same time as the first OB chapter. Lopen is a squire. Confirmed through WoB.

Absolutely. I have never seen Dalinar on a pedestal, and there are many many things about him I don't like or disagree with. But at least Dalinar changed his ways. Sadeas was happily continuing on his debauchery, all the while honestly believing he was a good highprince, and that the world owed him everything. Its why I want to throttle everyone saying Adolin is going evil. ADOLIN DID SOMETHING GOOD, HE DESERVES A MEDAL.

Did anyone else raise an eyebrow at the part one, and chapter one naming dichotomy? Part One: United Dalinar * Shallan * Kaladin * Adolin Chapter 1 Broken and Divided By the way, I imagine Maxal must be very happy today. Book couldn't have started better for her .

But not proved in-world beyond a doubt. I admit I did associate Odium with red, but it seems too simplistic. Maybe Shards have a main color, but doubt it will need to be in all of their interactions.
-
I don't think any Shards have been shown to have any personal colors. Just Odium-red eyes in voidbinders. I personally doubt Shards have single colors automatically attributed to them, its too simple for Brandon, and for a piece of God.

Good point. But it could just be related to loyalty, that he doesn't know the men below enough to trust them immediately. Of course with Alethkar, its probably a related to social rank. Also makes it interesting how bridge 4 are obviously in their own little category now that they are squires . Dalinar addressed them differently than I suspect he would have just the previous week, and no-one even questioned their presence there.
-
One of the things that I didn't know from before was that men are paid according to their rank (social rank, dahn and nahn) instead of the actual job they do. Goes on to show Alethkar is a dumb country the more we find out. Or maybe blame Vorinism. But explains why when Kaladin was negotiating with Dalinar for Bridge 4 to be their new bodyguards he demanded equal pay to what the lighteyes bodyguards were paid, as if it were something special instead of a given.

Best-quote-ever Edit. sorry, didn't realize I was double posting, and don't know how to remove the second one afterwards

6 days since the storm.

Congratulations Extesian, you turned it into 7 You can skip part of 5, not too relevant.

Guys, back on topic please. Normally I love threads that ramble, but not when they ramble to other author's works (other than Jordan).

From Tor discussion, comment 53. manavortex I asked Brandon on a Signing whether “something inside him snapped” meant him snapping. He said no. Regarding Adolin. Never seen that WoB.

But Honor is already dead, so if the investiture is lying around, could he gather it all?

The Recreance: Why did it happen?
WhiteLeeopard replied to TheDoomsday's topic in Stormlight Archive
Another tinfoil hat option. The Truthwatchers foresaw that the True Desolation was coming, so brutal that all of Roshar would be destroyed as Radiants wouldn't be enough to save Roshar. Therefore, they broke their oaths to give humanity a lot of Shards, so that the average person could fight in the True Desolation, and give the non Radiants a better chance of surviving too. Part that doesn't fit is skybreakers actions. Could be they were not aware of what they were doing, or truly Radiants could bring the Desolation faster, as such they were trying to gain as much time as possible. -
Reading through the tor discussion and comparing with the one here is so much fun. Athough there are discussions, there seems to be an overall impression or some specially liked characters. Discussion there is how Adolin can be the champion and how Dalinar is usurping Elhokar's authority. Here evil Adolin is barely mentioned, and people seem pretty happy with the power usurpation .

I'm going to leave this link here, was a soft theory but after reading new chapters seems it could be valid.
-
zebobes, my initial thought on that was it could be soon after the Hierocracy, as such it went against a lot of Vorin ideas. But your idea is as good as any Dalinar appointing highprinces...I think he is just over tiptoing around Elhokar sensibilities. Finally. Roshar's survival is more important than the chain of command, specially when so many in command are morons. In cases of complete destruction, men will be more likely to listen to the one with the best chance of leading them out of the mess alive, than to the one that has the right blood or title. Those are niceties for peace times, even if they are not fully ignored, they would probably be a lot less relevant. Oh, and Dalinar stating Sunmaker was his direct ancestor, impressive, don't remember this from before. Shin invasions were also thought provoking, ties in to some Shin conquest theory threads from recently.

Was initially dissapointed I didn't get to read about Kaladin reaching home. But once I got over it, the chapters were really good. Random thoughts next. Palona went up 10 points in my book. Before I was mildly fond of her, now, go girl. Interesting about the champion, will reread that later. Can't believe Dalinar said they needed Sadeas, open your eyes! He was never going to be anything other than a problem. Nice to see everyone was happy he was dead. Very surprised squires lose their abilities with distance. Guess will have to ask how much distance Nearly confirmed that Kholinar oathgate will be open by end of book. Had seen the flashback before, but still...Dalinar was a monster in his youth. Cleary Sadeas was just angry to have lost his monster of a friend. Only good thing he did, is he kept his word to not sack town. Can't believe they were taking for slaves and raping the people of the taken towns, thats how they unified mighty Alethkar? Great union... Will post later when my thoughts are more settled.

What time (GMT) do the new chapters come out? -
Roshar, specially the Vorin kingdoms still have a long way to go with population, considering half of their population (women) is forbidden to fight. While most of the time its best for women to stay out of wars to keep having children, when the apocalypse is coming its not quite so simple.
