Storms, that sounds harsh. On the perk side, not many can say they are working for a god. Maybe you can put on your CV for the future "Experience with Shards", I hear there are some scholar nutjobs that would be thrilled to hear first person accounts of such. You might need the job transfer sooner than expected, as gossip seems to say your title could be changed to Torturer of ___, prissy Heralds have no consideration for people doing their jobs.

I don't think that Szeth is a bad person either. But he is a bit of a blank slate, we know very little of him when he is not following ordes mindlessly. What do we know of him for certain? He follows the law to the detriment of everything else He is insane He is/was very religious Those and maybe a couple of other tidbits are not enough to let us make many guesses of where he will go next. As it is I don't really see him as leader material, as I don't think that an insane person that has been exiled for nearly a decade from his home will be what his home needs. He could possibly be happier and fit better as a Radiant, as they all have their issues too. But of course that opens the pandora box that Dalinar is at the head of the radiants, and even if he has to unite them all, accepting the man that killed Gavilar will likely make him burst a vein even if he can manage it. By the way @Calderis, I see your new reputation title is Torturer of Heralds! -Sucks breath- Harsh, but tell us... does that mean Odium or Odium's minion?

I'm not so sure whether the Stone Shamans will offer leadership to Szeth. For one people don't often think very clearly when in a panic, for another, they may be reluctant to give leadership to someone that is obviously walking the line of madness and that belived himself the lowest of the low for years. As for Szeth accepting, that would be a toss between how vengeful he is feeling and whether he would give in to such urges or follow another code, or if he feels instead he should focus on been a RK (a Frankenstein RK?).

Don't you love seeing another relatively unrelated thread find its way to "Was Adolin right in killing Sadeas" . Maybe OP should edit the title to "Kaladin and Shallan: Adolin's actions". Not complaining here! I think that harsh as it may be to accept, you can't always do the honorable path. As was pointed out in WoK, that only works when the other people are also honorable, or alternatively when you are the biggest power so can lay down the law. This is a case where, diplomacy failed, ignoring the problem failed, justice failed, legality failed. There was not a single other option, other than Adoling killing him, or sending assasins to do it for him (which ironically would likely have been considered more legal in Alethkar, yet I imagine almost everyone here, including me, would see as darker). I'm also quite bloodthirsty, but if the options are killing a man or watching your men or family harmed, or die in the future I would pick option one in a heartbeat. I think maxal said above that some people strike out when they are cornered or afraid, and I agree and think this is part of what happened to Adolin. He had no options left to get rid of a threat to his family, and at this core protecting his family is what makes him tick. Some people are arguing that it was almost premeditated, others that it was a rage. It just seemed like cold rage. In this state you can think and what you do seems coldly rational, but you are still as little in control of yourself as in a hot rage. In my opinion cold rage is a lot more dangerous than hot rage, as it often kicks the ability to think into hyperdrive, while normal rage is usually pure instinct,

Will the Stone Shamans even know in the near future that Szeth lost his blade? If what they are doing is directly monitoring him, what they will see is Szeth rampaging around the world visibly killing leaders with a dangerous blade, and now Szeth going around Roshar with a dangerous blade.
-
If we are right about who Jezrien is (drunk beggar at tWoK), I think the characters may be more concerned with him stabbing himself by accident than getting any use out of the honorblade. Adolin keeps coming to mind, but he is used to Blade and Plate, not sure how he would do without Plate, after all Szeth had years of practice behind him, and Kaladin is a natural as it is his actual order. It might be too long for a normal person to learn how to use an Honorblade before we can expect the kind of level which Szeth and Kaladin had in their fight. Dalinar...going from 0 to 3 surges seems a bit OP so fast, and I would imagine he would be getting used to the Stormfather in the inmediate future. But its a possibility.

Common Sense . Pity the two words likely make it an impossibility, that would likely be a strong Shard.

The flower could also be Mare flowers, while not as impressive as Edgli's Tears regarding its direct uses, they also have a lot of history behind them. My first impression of hearing the branch was from Yolen was to guess he might have gotten it, or bought it from descendants of the original Yolen imigrants. After all, isn't it relatively plausible to imagine there would be some Cosmere objects and souvenirs markets in Silverlight? Then again Brandon is well known for going for the craziest most implausible, yet doable path of all. What impressions are there regarding Mraize's origin? As I admit I did not see even one, but I haven't read SotD, and SfSitFoH just once.

Killing Sadeas had to be done, otherwise he would have stuck around hurting the Radiants authority and that of everyone trying to save the world. I don't see what is dishonorable of getting your hands dirty to do something that needs to be done. It wasn't neat and pretty, but...war and destruction seldom are, and the choices that have to be made aren't always going to be perfect. Adolin may be punished for killing him, but that won't deny that everyone will be able to work much better without Sadeas around trying to go his own way in the best case and assasinate them again in the worst case. Of course I suppose the question here can become, what is more important to you, "to be perfectly honorable" or "to save your people".

Dalinar's fate (Stormlight Archive spoilers)
WhiteLeeopard replied to SylphrenaHonorSpren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
On one hand I agree with you. But on the other hand, looking at what seems to be Dalinar's role in the future I find it hard to believe he would die so easily. So far the impression that I got from his role was that it is to bring together the RK and lead them, prepare all for the Desolation and unite Roshar, those are all things which can't be easily passed on or done by another, considering how much prepping (visions) Dalinar went through to ready for them. One thing to keep in mind is that Brandon doesn't kill characters because "someone needs to die" rather he kills characters because it is the next logical step on their respective journey. -
I don't think this is known for certain yet. But the impression we get is that the difference between a warrior and a Truthless is that warriors are at least kept at home. Truthless are exiled, which as we saw in Szeth's pov was a horrible punishment, as the shin are deeply unhappy away from their homeland and culture. Whether a Truthless enslavement is to a greater degree than a warrior, we don't know.

Nightblood is one of the most heavily invested objects in the cosmere. That likely makes it much heavier than it should be.
-
Poor Nightblood, now they want to eat him. That should count as some form of cannibalism.
-
Tough choice! I think I'll go with Vin as been with Wayne would mean having no idea of what is up and what is down by the end of the day, and sanity is too precious. Would you rather interview Vasher for an hour, or Khriss?

Secret History 2 will be in libraries within a week Nightblood's Secret Revealed The intents of all the 16 Shards discovered!

Yes, I was referring to the Parshendi

All humans are believed to be patterned after the original ones in Yolen. But yes, not all are from Yolen. In Scadrial they were created by Ruin and Preservation. And in Roshar some were there from before the breaking of Adonalasium.

Thats totally true. Now imagine him multiplied by a thousand. And lets practice the common "trip your partner while running for the hills".

Its entirely possible that Vasher deals with Yesteel in the second Warkbreaker book, which could reduce or eliminate the possibility of more swords like Nightblood. Personally I feel as uncomfortable with the idea of multiple Nightbloods as Vasher is. Nightblood is awesome, but have too many and it becomes a nightmare.

I thought the idea of the Nightwatcher been a spren to Cultivation in the way that the Stormfather was to Honor was a theory, a very strong theory but still not confirmed. Did I miss the confirmation?

You shouldn't feel bad about having some mistakes on the first try! The sheer number of WoBs, pictures from signed books and pieces of puzzles that have been put together on this forum is mindboggling. If I remember correctly on last count there were thousands of WoB floating around, and those are the ones to often contain many of the sneaky pieces. I don't post too often, but have been around for a while, and still find something new every week. The chart is really neat. Awesome job on it.

It could be that Kaladin is chosen by a shard like Mistborn
-
Dalinar is not the average Alethi in any way shape or form. He believes in equality to an extent, he thinks highly of Kaladin and he trusts his instincts. And although not openly said the duel is probably when he started suspecting Kal was a radiant.

Finally! Was having issues with my account, originally made it just for fun, but would have never guessed how much I'd miss it if I couldn't enter! On to the topic, one word. Nightblood. I know at the moment Szeth can't use it. But my headcannon is that if wielded by someone who has even a slight understanding of nightblood, in a vs fight its wielder will win except vs a shard or hoid. Main reasoning are those WoB, and a couple others. Skillwise I would put Szeth and Kaladin pretty much on par, with maybe Szeth having a small edge (we all know in Wor szeth gave up). And while syl is awesome, I can't see how she could hold up vs nightblood. P.s. apologies for spelling mistakes and caps, phones have their issues. P.s.s. we should open a thread called "imagine the despairing cries if nightblood turns out to just be a sword that makes evil people kill themselves"

I think the official explanation is that lighteyes don't even see darkeyes unless they need them for something, so like was said above they ignroed him and focused on Adolin. But I agree this is one of the biggest gaps in the books that stretch the limits of plausability, doing what Kaladin did in the arena would have been a huge feat for any full shardbearer. Add in that there was already a lot of talk about Kal due to the tower rescue and been the first darkeyed captain ever, and I find it hard to believe that people did not just go catatonic with shock that a man with a wood stick walked into a fight with 6 shardbearers in the mix, knocked out two and walked it off.
