Kaladin is often seen using blue gemstones, and his eyes turn blue, but that is a completely Kaladin/Windrunner issue, like was said above stormlight is blue, as other orders appear we will likely see all sort of colors preferences for gemstones in SA. Thats probably where the "blue stormlight" confusion comes from.
-
Its pointed out several times, mainly from Dalinar and Adolin in WoR but also some others, that Kaladin behaves like a lighteyes, from how he talks, and looks at people, to how he walks, and those are just the surface things. These are the kind of things which people notice subconsciously when someone acts "outside their rank". And its noticeable through WoK that a big part of why Kaladin drew so much attention from people around him were those characteristics.

Unless TLR or Marsh can use feruchemical speed fast enough, I can't see how the cosmere group would have a chance. Forsaken make a solid air shield, and nothing other than emotional allomancy should reach them. Then they can fireball, deathgate and thunder all until they get a lucky hit. Only game changer would be Vasher with Nightblood, as the forsaken definetely count as the personification of evil . Of course the more likely thing to happen would be Kelsier, Vin and Marsh attacking TLR, Kaladin and Szeth going at it, Ishy and Demandred keeping an eye and a half on the other, Vasher watching and deciding whether to engage or not, and against whom and all generally forgetting/ignoring who they are supposed to be fighting against.

I find it a bit hard to imagine if Kell can be very obvious on Era 3 and 4. Mainly because if he appears and an entire world realizes their god is really human, it might lead to despair, disilusionment and many negative emotions. On the idea of, imagine if Jesus appeared today as he was, what would people do/make/think? Some things are best left to the imaginations of people. That been said I could totally see Kelsier moving around the shadows, and ocasionally letting himself be known to those that wouldnt fall on their knees in wonderment (i.e Wayne, who would just ask him to talk so he could steal his accent would be fun )

A record of all Hoid has ever done, a bunch of Hemalurgic spikes and Nightblood
-
But just because Nightblood can consume spren doesn't mean that the condition would simply be hitting each other. I am a bit hesitant to believe Nightblood could destroy a shardblade with one blow, as that would be a bit extreme. Granted, there is a lot of investiture needed to wield Nightblood safely, but it still seems like too much in terms of power.

I think one of the biggest questions in this scenario is which terrain are they fighting in. Mistborns are best in cities, night and mist, radiants in full gear seem more meant for open terrain and battlefields. Mistborns do best as assasins and tricksters, while a radiant in a huge plate is not exactly going to be subtle. That been said, I'm generally wary of considering this too much in depth as we still haven't seen any radiant in full gear, nor have we seen any radiant say all 5 oaths.

Adolin's actions at the end of WOR
WhiteLeeopard replied to Reborn radiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I wouldn't mind seeing Adolin become a radiant, but I'm also quite ok with him been a normal shardbearer. It is like those cases where been "less" actually makes a person be "more", as he doesn't have any tricks to do what the others do, but his own personal skills with no "magical" help. Not to mention that I do believe we need an important viewpoint/character that the main cast will listen to who is "normal", to add the voice of reason if/when the others go off too wrapped up in their ideals to sometimes see the pragmatic realities in front of them. That been said, if Adolin does become a radiant I will be ecstatically happy . But I do feel a non-radiant character is needed close to the main group. -
You need to keep in mind in Era 2 they would consider anything from the original crew to be holy. If they found a new belt or a shoe that used to belong to them they would probably build a temple. I assumed that Harmony's Bands meant Sazed's metalminds, even empty they would be a huge religious deal. But when taking that WoB into consideration you never know if they could be more significant, especially considering the unanswered questions Secret History and BoM left us about a certain character.

The way I used to think about him is that Kelsier was broken deep inside. He went through traumatic events, he lived in a horrible world, he saw terrible things, and the pits were the last straw that broke him so much he would never be a normal person in any sense. The reason why I raised the question is because the label psycopath has always bothered me when it comes to him. He is absolutely ruthless and uses people as if they are pieces in a chess game, but his final goal is always good. However, that been said I couldn't really see him as a true villain, a huge problem yes, but not an actual villain.
-
That would be possible, but unlikely. For one Kelsier would have recognized him, and in the best case dug his heels in, in the worst case probably killed him. For another, when teaching Vin, Kelsier says he has only seen 2 skaa mistborns, (including him, but not including Vin), which would leave a 3rd unaccounted for if Gemmel was a noble instead of a skaa.

I think he counts as just having one eye spiked in Era 2 because Vin removed one of his spikes in the last fight she had with the inquisitors. Even if he put it back wouldn't have been out of his body weaken the hemalurgy charge? Another option is that there was some mistake in the wording since it has been remarked that Marsh has a lot of scarring on one eye. Sorry for the double post! Had already written my previous reply when I saw this, and didn't know how to put them together with 2 quotes.
-
I read this thread and found it really interesting. But then I couldn't help thinking of what you said (bold part). Would most readers agree that Kelsier is a good person? I do believe he is, yet many past threads and WoBs talk of how he would be a villain in many other setups, how he is a sociopath, etc. What is the general view on this? Also, I do not want to hijack this thread, but I'm also not sure if this would warrant a new thread or if it is included in this discussion.

Adolin's actions at the end of WOR
WhiteLeeopard replied to Reborn radiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am hoping that exile is not where Adolin is headed, mainly because he has few pov chapters, as such to see him we need him to be with other people that do have pov chapters. Another point is that I'm not sure what his purpose into the overall story would be if he were on his own, and I am a bit doubtful that a side character will be given something huge, like bringing a country or group into the fold when we have 10 main characters. As such I am hoping that Adolin gets sent to Kholinar, so that he can be away from Dalinar, yet be in the middle of the action. Oh, and I think the reason why Adolin and Szeth are the characters I'm most looking forward to reading is that they are both in a crossroads, we have no clue where they might be going (other than lots of spectulation) and their final destination could be anywhere from radiant, to outcast, to champion, to Odium, to leader. -
Adolin's actions at the end of WOR
WhiteLeeopard replied to Reborn radiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Is it my imagination or is this topic officially the one most likely to resurface into a hot discussion every 2 weeks max? Yes, many other things are discussed, but I can always rely on this one popping up as soon as things are getting quiet XD. Something for which I'm actually happy as Adolin is one of 2 characters I'm most interested in seeing in Oathbringer and this usually churns out a new perspective. (Other one been Szeth, but for some reason he creates nowhere close to the Adolin frenzy) -
Adolin's actions at the end of WOR
WhiteLeeopard replied to Reborn radiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree that Dalinar has a chip on his shoulder. But I don't necesarily agree with all that has been said here. The way I see it Dalinar will have to become very. very flexible if he wants to lead the KR, unless he just wants to lead the Windrunners and Skybreakers. And I honestly don't see how he (or anyone) can hope to rule a country and lead an order of knights with a set of values that most people can't/won't follow. Either Alethkar will become ruled by the KR in some way, or they will completely separate. But the other way around (Alethi ruling KR) seems laughable for many reasons, both laws and feasibility. Which might imply that Dalinar may also need to learn to both be flexible and listen. The issue with Adolin could be a good way to start learning, and possibly separating tasks. -
I think you are severely underestimating the power of a mental illness. Things like depression and PTSD don't just go away on their own, and people can't just "deal with it". People that have them generally need other people around them to help them through every step, along with other things like hope, something good to look forward to etc. Considering that the Heralds will be very ashamed of what their did after breaking the Oathpact, that they likely don't trust anyone with all that they are and have no good reason to keep on living (other than they probably can't die) I could very easily see them going into a bigger and bigger spiral. To add to this, there have been a few hints that what is happening to the Heralds' mental state after breaking the Oathpact may be realmatic and not just mental. As to breaking the Oathpact in the first place and abandoning Taln...they had no choice, I do not for a second believe that even the strongest, most resolute and most honorable person can hold on forever with no hope and no end in sight. Even the strongest rock is weathered away by the relentless tide. It was a question of what would go first, their honor or their minds, then Oathpact adieu. If anything I can't help but feel sorry for the Heralds. They basically had a choice between a horrible situation and a bad one. Did they do something wrong? Yes. Are they making trouble in Roshar right now? Yes. Would anyone else have made a different choice? No.

I think many of Sanderson's books, specially the first in a series start off relatively slow, as there is such a complex, yet solid magic system that the rules of it, and of the whole world must be set down. Once the rules are set and the reader wont get lost its a full throttle ride. Also, while all the series can be read as standalones and nothing will be lost, the fact that all the series are set in the same universe (Cosmere) means that having read one world, its easier to understand the rules of other worlds. I can't help but think that the reason why you found Alloy smoother is partly because you already knew the rules of Scadrial. That been said Wax and Wayne are hilarious characters. Sanderson's other books are very clearly his style and format, but each series has a slightly different flavor, like the slight but obvious difference between mistborn 1 and 2. If you want a fun and single read to increase your understanding of the Cosmere, try Warbreaker. If you want to laugh histerically try Alcatraz, if you want a good but short story try Emperor's Soul. If you are ready for a huge world check Way of Kings; although from what you say im not certain if this is the type of story you would enjoy, its utterly absorbing, but its an epic series, starts slowly, specially the first half of the first book where the world is been set for the next 9 books. Although after that you would likely feel like Alice when she fell down the rabbit hole (in a good way). I hope that was helpful

If properly done this could be amazing. And here they likely have 20 seasons easy if they want to make it long Wonder if that would be two whole seaons of the Last Battle. Talk about the longest cinematographic battle! Then again I'd be happy to shorten the whole Ebou Dar arc to 3 episodes...

Narrowing Down the Last Shards [AU]
WhiteLeeopard replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm a bit late to this discussion but will nevertheless add this.I feel that I should point out about the shard that just wants to survive that WoB also said that the shard's actual purpose has little to do with what is going on there, as I often see that it is tempting to try to extrapolate that shard's attribute from its behaviour, yet in this case this might be a road which does not bear fruits.- 164 replies

I believe the general idea is that Ym was a rare individual that attracted the attention of several types spren. But ultimately he was bonded to become a truthwatcher, and Wyndle was sent to Lift. Considering truthwatchers and edgedancers seem to have some overlap in attributes, it does not seem a crazy idea that 2 "neighboring" spren would check out the same person.

Aesudan Kholin, Theories and Speculations
WhiteLeeopard replied to Gavin-son-son-Odegard's topic in Stormlight Archive
Its been a bit since I fully re-read SA, so my mind is a bit fuzzy for details. Do we know where Aesudan is from and why she was married to Elhokar so early? I seem to remember that Elhokar married her when he was very young, but no reason for it.- 108 replies
